Not sure what you're referring to here. The federal government did not take either photograph. The copyright is held with Trump's inaugural committee. End of story. elijahpepe@wikipedia (he/him) 17:27, 20 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

That language is from prior whitehouse.gov websites and clearly has faults. For instance, this image is a photograph from Trump's social media accounts, which is not labeled appropriately. Until further clarification has been provided, the status quo should remain. elijahpepe@wikipedia (he/him) 17:36, 20 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Didn’t the White House technically just release these pictures under CC BY 3.0 US? They might have acquired the copyright for them. Xoontor (talk) 17:47, 20 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
In cases where it is unclear whether or not a photograph was released or if copyright was released, it is better to be safe and assume that only permission was granted. elijahpepe@wikipedia (he/him) 17:49, 20 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
"Visitors to this website agree to grant a non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free license to the rest of the world for their submissions to Whitehouse.gov under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License."
It is pretty clear to me. Either the photographer provided the picture to the White House under the CC BY 3.0 US license, or the White House used the picture without the photographer's knowledge. I believe the former is more likely. Xoontor (talk) 18:05, 20 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That clause details user-generated content, for instance, the contact the president form. elijahpepe@wikipedia (he/him) 18:06, 20 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for correcting me. You were right about this, I think I should have quoted this portion instead:
"Except where otherwise noted, third-party content on this site is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License."

Great job! Bearian (talk) 13:12, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You are doing great work!

[edit]

Wow, I am impressed by how much you have accomplished regarding our task force.

Someone is making unhelpful and misleading or entirely unsourced edits to some high profile task force BLPs. I first noticed today when checking on Dan Caine. Then I checked this contribution history. There is much more, mostly for BLPs. Is there anything to be done about this sort of biased editing other than try to reverse it as we find it? It is very disheartening. Thanks for your time.-- FeralOink (talk) 23:10, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Coincidentally, I was working on Brooke Rollins as you were writing this and I noticed that her introductory sentence read "conservative legal activist", which I removed in my rewrite. Looking at this user's edits, I get the sense of their personal beliefs towards certain subjects, which is not ideal. This discussion should not be occurring in this talk page, but rather theirs. elijahpepe@wikipedia (he/him) 23:16, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You're right, but they (he?) are going to fight us tooth and nail. I see that editor and many others here making objections similar to those that led to me abandoning my efforts with most task force related articles during the past 8 years, e.g. I worked a lot on the Peter Navarro BLP too and Steele Dossier and Christopher Steele and Hunter Biden and created Devon Archer and it was a constant battle with reverts ad infinitum. idk... Things have changed but not here so much...--FeralOink (talk) 23:35, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Also, that editor removed Brooke Rollins graduation from college cum laude without any explanation in edit log and contrary to sources. See what I mean?--FeralOink (talk) 23:44, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
All my edits updating Peter Navarro's BLP in October 2024 have been successively reverted by various editors since then, with the old outdated and wrong content reinserted. Throughout 2018, I argued and made edits to that page that were reverted. Then I spent hours and hours and hours in October last year. This is awful. They hate Donald Trump and will keep doing this. I just waste my time trying to fix things I care deeply about.--FeralOink (talk) 23:56, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reference lists

[edit]

ElijahPepe, much as I appreciate the effort you have put into transforming the reference list at articles like Pete Hegseth, I think you've already read my complaint on the hassle of trying to find the correct place to insert a new reference alphabetically into the giant list of references, because the last name is not at the start of the reference. Now I see that Howard Lutnick and Kash Patel suffer from the same problem, and User:ElijahPepe/Marco Rubio as well. I'm not sure if I missed any other article, perhaps I have. Could you kindly fix this issue for Lutnick, Patel and Rubio? I am unsure if I have the willpower to fix this issue in three more articles, which is an issue of your creation. Since you obviously advocate for this format, I believe it is your responsibility to make it editor-friendly. Thank you. starship.paint (talk / cont) 08:26, 22 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I will try. elijahpepe@wikipedia (he/him) 14:42, 22 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, ElijahPepe. I will help you out with some changes to Howard Lutnick until I am bored, not sure if I will complete the whole reference list. I see that on Lutnick's article you sorted alphabetically by publisher if no last name is available (e.g. Bloomberg), but that fails to render alphabetically on Wikipedia, as the title comes before the publisher. I will be fixing that (sort by title if no last name is available), as it can really cause confusion in where to insert references. starship.paint (talk / cont) 03:04, 23 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I finished Lutnick. I did a tiny bit on Rubio and Patel. My brain said enough. Please finish the rest. starship.paint (talk / cont) 06:41, 23 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hey ElijahPepe, I think you did great work regarding this subject and the Pete Hegseth article and was wondering if you wouldn't mind having a look at the Russell Brand page if you have time?

The main issue I have is that, while long, the sexual misconduct allegations section lacks almost any detail from the extensive Times report, including the women's accounts. I think that they're of more immediate relevance to the article than the instances where he made inappropriate jokes to female TV presenters.

There's no mention of the corroborating accounts from people close to the women or who worked with Brand, supporting documentation from the investigation, such as the text messages between Brand and the woman pseudonymised as "Nadia" (the phone number he used to send the messages was verified by multiple sources) and the letter she wrote him.

Nadia's friend, who took her to the Rape Treatment Center at UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center the same day as the assault, provided The Times with medical records. She had therapy there for the following five months during which records show she contemplated criminal/civil proceedings.

"Alice", who Brand apparently referred to as "the child", also had a family member corroborate her account of being groomed by him to The Sunday Times.

He threatened the women with legal action, yet hasn't pursued libel charges against News UK despite stringent UK laws that would favor him if the accusations were unfounded (laid out here). Here, The Times journalists explain themselves the foolproof measures they had to take before publishing the report.

Mike Waltz

[edit]

Sorry to bring this to your talk page. Just wanted to explain that reporting on the subject is pretty clear that Waltz is still in as National Security Advisor, but that he will leave the role once Trump properly nominates him as ambassador to the UN. Even once he is nominated, describing him as an ambassador is incorrect: he would still need to be approved by the senate. Best, ~ Pbritti (talk) 18:52, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I am aware that Waltz is still the national security advisor. There are many articles for Trump nominees that had "presumptive nominee" in the infobox. It is not improper to include. elijahpepe@wikipedia (he/him) 18:54, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Someone being a presumptive nominee is a empty status. That's not appropriate to add to an infobox. The status parameter is for things like incumbent, not an unofficial declaration of intent. ~ Pbritti (talk) 18:59, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Why are you inappropriately restoring a challenged addition to a BLP? That's not acceptable per WP:ONUS and WP:BRD. Please self-revert immediately. ~ Pbritti (talk) 19:04, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributed article, June 2025 Los Angeles County protests

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, June 2025 Los Angeles County protests. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – June 2025 Los Angeles protests. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at June 2025 Los Angeles protests. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Dahawk04 (talk) 01:24, 8 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I think you are at risk here. You need to go to talk. Good luck. -- Very Polite Person (talk) 17:46, 17 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You listed four unrelated edits, two of which were reverted. I didn't see that consensus had been reached to mention the inauguration tattoo incident, but you seem to be the only one who has taken issue with my recent edit. Remember thanked me for my edit. I already explained my changes. elijahpepe@wikipedia (he/him) 17:56, 17 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your use of shortened footnotes for citations

[edit]

I saw that Reywas92 voiced frustration about this in a deletion discussion, which wasn't the right forum for it. I'd like to echo what they said. There's no reason to use Template:Sfn when one is not aiming to specify varied page numbers for a single source (as with a book), and unless there's good reason to use it, readers also shouldn't have to click twice to see the actual citation. It's also a pain for editors using the visual editor. I encourage you to stop doing this in the many articles where it's not necessary. FactOrOpinion (talk) 22:30, 17 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see where I can't use it. elijahpepe@wikipedia (he/him) 22:50, 17 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't say or suggest that you can't use it. I gave you 2 specific reasons that it's often not good to use it, and noted that you're using it in many situations where it doesn't do anything more than what you'd get with a normal citation. Do you think it's irrelevant readers may not understand that they have to hover over the Sfn output in order to see the actual citation? Do you think it's irrelevant that you're creating extra work for all of your fellow editors who use the visual editor? FactOrOpinion (talk) 23:52, 17 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

ElijahPepe, I posted in a section above but you didn’t respond. You still haven’t listed the reference last names first at Kash Patel given the above shortened footnotes, while you’re doing quite a bit of editing on other topics. I think I have been patient but this has been months. Remember that I actually helped you fix it for other articles. starship.paint (talk / cont) 02:49, 18 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I did list them. elijahpepe@wikipedia (he/him) 03:25, 18 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I stand corrected. ElijahPepe, I apologise for my oversight and my erroneous accusation. My bad. starship.paint (talk / cont) 09:08, 18 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
All good. elijahpepe@wikipedia (he/him) 15:34, 18 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

AI infrastructure firm and founder

[edit]

Hi ElijahPepe, recently I posted two suggested updates. The first is a new draft proposal for Nebius Group, an Amsterdam based AI infrastructure company and the second is some suggestions for the company founder's page, Arkady Volozh, due to WP:RELEVANCE. I am reaching out to you as I saw that you participate in WP:COMPSCI and related fields. I was in discussion with other editors but as they have not been back online, would you be willing to review them? This is the suggestion for Nebius Group and this is the suggestion for Arkady Volozh. Thank you very much for looking at these requests. Wikigracht (talk) 14:17, 30 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
