Question from Simononwiki1 (21:47, 1 March 2025)
[edit]Hi, I want to edit a new page on Adam Linder. He is a famous choregraph that already has various article on national newspapers. I wanted to upload a picture of him through wikimedia commons, and I was spamed by the antiparasite bot. But me and his team had sent a mail to wikimedia to release the right to use the file. Is everything else that I can do ? Thanks for your help Simon --Simononwiki1 (talk) 21:47, 1 March 2025 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, I don't think there is much but to await WikiMedia's response. In the meantime, you can continue working on your article and feel free to let me know with further questions. Or, possibly, get Linder/his team to release the photograph into the public domain. (By the way, you were not "spammed" by the bot, haha.)
- Out of curiosity, why are you working on your page in the French Wikipedia? Since it is written in English, perhaps this Wiki would be better.
- Also - friendly reminder about Wikipedia's paid articles and conflict of interest regulations, which require that you declare conflicts of interest and/or being paid to write an article if that is the case.
- Cheers, and welcome! GoldRomean (talk) 01:37, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi GoldRomean,
- Yes I'm paid and declared it on the talk of the concerned article. Do you think I should add something ? Could you please check the Adam Linder Wikipedia's page to verify if I'm checking all requirements. I think I am but I would like to be sure.
- Thanks a lot for your help. Simononwiki1 (talk) 13:37, 10 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Simononwiki1 (talk page watcher) Do you think I should add something ? is disingenuous. You have been told what to do above. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 13:50, 10 March 2025 (UTC)
- In addition to have written it on the talk page, that I thought was enough, I added as well on my user page. I'm trying my best to make the wikipedia's page complying the rules. I don't need any judgments. Simononwiki1 (talk) 14:15, 10 March 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for your disclosure. There are a lot of promotional phrases with your draft, like "innovative work", "prestigious institutions", etc. Remember that you are writing a factual article first, not a promotional piece to advertise Linder's work. Currently, the article seems like something that you would see more on his website, not Wikiepdia. Thanks! GoldRomean (talk) 15:07, 10 March 2025 (UTC)
- okok I see better now. I will try to rephrase it and to replace with neutral adjectives.
- Thanks for your help.

Question from High Performance Business LLc (16:20, 9 March 2025)
[edit]How do I add the address and creation story and what the company does to High Performance Business? --High Performance Business LLc (talk) 16:20, 9 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! I'm not sure what you mean, but keep in mind that your username is not allowed to be that of a business, and it is highly not recommended to make a page advertising yourself. Thanks! If you could clarify a bit and address those issues, I would be happy to help if you have further questions. GoldRomean (talk) 03:05, 10 March 2025 (UTC)
Hello how can i make sure i take citation but keep language in correct tone, I always have quoted text in a citation. Im realising that this is not correct. Regards Jasbir --JBG551 (talk) 10:25, 11 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but you can't say things like "has been inexplicable", because that is your own opinion. Additionally, did you include copyrighted content in an article without proper quotes/citations? That is a violation of copyright rules. I'd be happy to help you further if you could provide some more information. Thanks! GoldRomean (talk) 15:07, 11 March 2025 (UTC)
Question from Abu Haider Al Iskander Bin Sayyid Sulaiman (14:07, 15 March 2025)
[edit]Hello. How do i create a new wiki page. How do i add img --Abu Haider Al Iskander Bin Sayyid Sulaiman (talk) 14:07, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, I strongly recommend gaining more experience on Wikipedia before making new pages. I'm not sure if you mean add images to an article, or upload. To add images, if you click the "plus" sign in the visual editor, you will be able to add an image. To upload, WikMedia Commons has a nice tutorial here, but make sure you pictures are copyright-free (among other rules). Hope that helps! GoldRomean (talk) 22:57, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
Question from ArcheryMama (23:54, 16 March 2025)
[edit]@GoldRomean Should I use the sandbox for all my editing or just go into an article and edit that way--ArcheryMama (talk) 23:54, 16 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia! Usually, the sandbox is for testing, and if you have a real edit you want to make, you can just edit directly. Of course, make sure your edits are constructive, but we can always revert any edits in which you make harmless mistakes :). Hope that helps, and don't hesitate to contact me with other questions! GoldRomean (talk) 22:54, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
Hi, I am going to add some important information with references as an introduction to the article "Huperzine A". As the new information/revision will appear at the beginning of the article. I would appreciate it if you could help me to add the related new references to the beginning of the current reference list. --Netrel (talk) 19:07, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, I believe that the references should automatically order themselves. Let me know if that's not the case and I'd be happy to help! GoldRomean (talk) 22:55, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
- So kind of you, GoldRomean Netrel (talk) 01:16, 20 March 2025 (UTC)
Dear GoldRomeam, I have already revised the article "Huperzine A" to provide its important research history as an introduction of the article, and provided some necessary references (in a right format) in support of the new information as well. I still don't know how to insert these references [No.1-5] to the beginning of the current list. The current listing order of the references will therefore need to be adjusted. I would highly appreciate it if you could take a look at my revision and help me. --Netrel (talk) 02:18, 20 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, I apologize if I was not clear before. If you are on the visual editor, there should be a "cite" button. Try using that :D. If that doesn't work, let me know again. GoldRomean (talk) 15:49, 20 March 2025 (UTC)
- Also, please take a look at how to properly do citations on Wikipedia :). GoldRomean (talk) 15:57, 20 March 2025 (UTC)
- And remember not to talk on articles, haha. Cheers. GoldRomean (talk) 16:03, 20 March 2025 (UTC)
- Also, please take a look at how to properly do citations on Wikipedia :). GoldRomean (talk) 15:57, 20 March 2025 (UTC)
Hi GoldRomeam, I have finally figured out how to insert the citation of the references used in my revision, and completed my revision. Please advise me what else I need to do regarding my revision. Thanks. --Netrel (talk) 16:02, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- I don't know what's going on here Netrel, but you are edit warring into the article medical claims inappropriately cited to fourhourworkweek.com, using the 'minor edit' flag. Please stop, or it is likely you will end up blocked from editing. Bon courage (talk) 05:28, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hey, I can't really help you with specific advice on that specific article (especially since it's about medicine); there are much more qualified editors (like Bon courage) who can help you out. And please do listen when other editors warn you about things like minor edits/edit wars. If you have any more general questions I'd be happy to help out. Cheers! Hi GoldRomean,
This is my first time editing. I knew the playwright Peter Shaffer very well and wish to add something to his wikipedia page. How do I do that? --Kshancady (talk) 23:04, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, I recommend that you disclose your conflict of interest and strongly refrain from editing his page. However, if you must, make sure to use reliable sources and use a neutral point-of-view. Welcome to Wikipedia! Let me know if you have further questions. GoldRomean (talk) 01:57, 27 March 2025 (UTC)

[edit]Is there any good articles to do easy edits for related to Lithuania? Im a beginner and this topic was interesting --HelloHelicopter31 (talk) 09:52, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, I'm not sure what you mean by "easy" but you could see Wikipedia:WikiProject Lithuania#Articles that need attention and take a look at maybe some copyediting. And while you're there, you could join WikiProject Lithuania as well, they would be happy to guide you. Cheers. GoldRomean (talk) 14:45, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
Question from HelloHelicopter31 (10:33, 30 March 2025)
[edit]I was trying to edit a page about Carsten Klouman which Wikipedia suggested I edit but it wont let me save changes. It says the following: Your changes have not been published. In response to an ongoing pattern of abuse, an automated filter has prevented this edit.
Don't worry, your work has not been lost! The full content of this edit has been saved, but it will not be visible to readers unless you take further action.
Please go to the report page and follow the instructions. An experienced editor will review your changes, and provide assistance.
I reported the error (process was very confusing) and then my report got deleted??? Not sure whats going on, just want to publish the changes I made. --HelloHelicopter31 (talk) 10:33, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, and welcome, may I know what specific changes you made? It looks like a filter picked up your edits and thought them to be unconstructive. I can't really help without further information, but maybe you could ask Ohnoitsjamie. Make sure sources you use are reliable. Cheers, GoldRomean (talk) 14:41, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
Question from Zentrader007 (19:57, 1 April 2025)
[edit]Is it bad form to start a page about yourself as a resource here? --Zentrader007 (talk) 19:57, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, and welcome! Usually, to maintain a neutral point of view, yes, I generally would not reccomend creating a page for yourself. Let me know if you have any other questions! GoldRomean (talk) 02:54, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
PROD on Thapaswini Poonacha
[edit]Hi GoldRomean. I see that you've placed a PROD tag on Thapaswini Poonacha. However, that article was soft deleted after this short debate two and a half years ago. So the recreation of the article is technically ok and it's definitely not eligible for a PROD. However, you can start a new AfD. For now, I've just removed your PROD. Best, Pichpich (talk) 20:08, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Pichpich Understood, thank you for letting me know! Is there a easy way to check next time other than going into the article history since I don't think there was a notice on the talk page? GoldRomean (talk) 14:52, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
- It's a common mistake to not check for this but it can be done! If you check the history of an article (or any other page for that matter), you can click on "View logs for this page" (top left) where you will find a log entry for deletion and a link to the corresponding AfD. Furthermore, when you put up a PROD tag, the template itself checks whether a past AfD exists for that title and links to it (which is how I found out there was a problem with your PROD). Best, Pichpich (talk) 17:48, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
Hi! Am I allowed to upload a photo of a public figure on Wikipedia CC, that he (or otherwise the institution he leads) posted it publicly on facebook? Under what license does that fall? --Guxhuli (talk) 14:47, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
- Welcome! No, just because someone posts a photo online doesn't mean that they give up copyright of it. They have to explicitly release it in public domain. GoldRomean (talk) 14:56, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks. :)
- "They have to explicitly release it in public domain." -> How would this technically work? How would Wikipedia verify this? Guxhuli (talk) 15:03, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
- I'm not super experienced in copyright but for example here the uploader is the author, so they can release it to public domain. And here there's a notice explaining how goverment works are also public domain. Hope that helps + let me know if you have any other questions! GoldRomean (talk) 15:26, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
I want to look up companies to get their contact info, especially their email, probably won't be editing. Where do I go in Wikipedia to do that? --Diahen (talk) 00:35, 4 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Diahen, if you're looking for companies' contact info, I reccomend going on their websites instead of using Wikipedia. It is unlikely, but if a company email/website is included on its Wikipedia page, it would be in the "External links" section or mabye the infobox (the box at the right with quick infromation). Let me konw if you have any Wikipedia-editing related questions. Cheers, GoldRomean (talk) 01:41, 4 April 2025 (UTC)

Hi, I'm interested in translating articles, and I was wondering about the sources, do I have to find new ones in the target language? or do I have to translate the original sources? or is it just fine to cite it as-is in the translation? --Solrivy (talk) 05:51, 6 April 2025 (UTC)
- Welcome! Generally, include the original sources, but you do not really need to "translate" them. If you can find new ones, of course that would be preferred. This page may help. Let me know if you have any other questions! GoldRomean (talk) 14:58, 6 April 2025 (UTC)

- I believe it is referring to the fact tht it is linking to both a and b. Although I am not an expert in citation templates so perhaps people at the teahouse could better help you. Cheers! GoldRomean (talk) 22:34, 7 April 2025 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, why does my article which I previously moved to the main page appear as a draft? --Monica Joyce (talk) 07:00, 7 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, when you are moving an article to the mainspace, the mainspace would just be Flavia Kyomukama, not User:Flavia Kyomukama, which would be a user page. Hope that helps! GoldRomean (talk) 11:32, 7 April 2025 (UTC)
Question from Tony McClark (11:39, 9 April 2025)
[edit]Hello, I just logged into Wikipedia and I wanted to start editing but I am kind of scared of changing the language and wording of certain articles as it may get me banned if I do something wrong that I don't know.
I want to edit stuff still and add citations but I don't have experience to find info from a trusted source and I am bad at fact checking. Can you suggest me ways to get better at this?
Thanks -Tony --Tony McClark (talk) 11:39, 9 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hey Tony! Don't worry about it. Usually, people will know that you have good intent and just let you know of your mistakes. And you will usually be warned first before a block - and an absolute ban is super rare, you can usually appeal blocks. I reccomend reading WP:RS and taking a look at the references of other articles - but practice will help you gain experience! Welcome to Wikipedia! GoldRomean (talk) 13:05, 9 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from AldoParrottaContributor (13:40, 10 April 2025)
[edit]Good morning GoldRomean,
I was recently unblocked and renamed as per Wikipedia’s conflict of interest and username guidelines. I’m the founder and director of a non-profit organization called the Art Gallery of Welland, based in Welland, Ontario, Canada.
I’d like to request the creation of a new article for the gallery, based on third-party media coverage from reliable sources such as Country 89, GiantFM, Ground News, and the City of Welland. I now understand that because of my affiliation, I can’t create the article myself directly and need to use the edit request process.
Would you be open to reviewing the draft I’ve prepared or guiding me on how to properly submit a request for this article? I want to make sure I follow every guideline correctly and avoid any issues going forward.
Thanks so much for your time and support — I really appreciate it. Aldo AldoParrottaContributor --AldoParrottaContributor (talk) 13:40, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
- To submit an edit request, see here. You would use the talk page to propsoe a specific change instead of making it yourself. I would be okay with taking a look at the article; however, are you able to link to your draft, since I can't see it? Cheers! GoldRomean (talk) 14:37, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
Question from Cultcritix (14:18, 10 April 2025)
[edit]Hi GoldRomean, just reaching out to say hi! And that I put up my first article. It's for a place that friends talked about, seemed really cool back in the day in NYC. (I have no connection.) If you have any comments on how to improve it, please let me know. Thanks! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Stingy_Lulu%27s --Cultcritix (talk) 14:18, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
- Looks great for a first draft! I reccomend finding more sources to try to expand the article and show more notability, and also adding an infobox or picture (you can request one here). Also, be warned that AfC does take a while; they are superrrr backlogged. Continue working in the meantime to increase chances of passing :). Cheers, GoldRomean (talk) 14:35, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi thanks for this GoldRomean! (Just saw your reply here, still getting my head around how the messaging works.) Right on, I found and added a few more sources and resubmitted the draft. I'll look into adding an infobox now! Cultcritix (talk) 16:57, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi GoldRomean, I did another article. Haven't published it yet, would be great to get your feedback when you have a minute. Thanks! User:Cultcritix/sandbox Cultcritix (talk) 16:49, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Cultcritix Hi again! I am happy to see you are still contributing to Wikipedia. I recommend not directly publishing it, you should probably go through AfC with this. Overall your article has no major errors. I would say it relies too much on quotes and comes off as slightly promotional. It is also technically all lead - you might want to split it up.
- Some other small things not related to the article:
- Note the minor edit policy, even small things like "adding sources" are not minor edits.
- Next time for clarity make a new section on the talk page, just in case your previous message gets archived or I might overlook your new edit
- Cheers, GoldRomean (talk) 18:58, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @GoldRomean thanks for your feedback and tips! Cultcritix (talk) 13:48, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from AmigaAmigo (08:22, 18 April 2025)
[edit]Hello GoldRomean..
I'm sending you a note as Wikipedia tells me that you are my mentor.
I've signed up to create an article about an Australian WW2 Air Force Pilot - Ian Innes. He was awarded the Military Medal and the French Legion d'Honnore for participating in an SAS behind the lines operation after D-Day, after being shot down.
He also had an impressive business career in Australia, developing some Insurance IT technologies that were purchased by Ross Perot's company.
I want to edit this page..
To reflect his award.
Then create a page for him detailing his upbringing in Papua New Guinea, his military service, and a short bit about his after service career.
Does this sound alright to you?
Thanks for your time. --AmigaAmigo (talk) 08:22, 18 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, and welcome! What your suggesting sounds fine. Just make sure that you have many reliable sources that showcase Ian Innes' notability and that everything is sourced. Additionally, make sure you don't have a conflict of interest with Innes. For more information, see Your first article. Let me know if you have any specific questions! Cheers, GoldRomean (talk) 19:55, 18 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from Dorothystassone (22:09, 22 April 2025)
[edit]Hello, and thank you for being there. I am seeking information about Danuta Mostwin. Information that I have indicates that she was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature three times, in 2000, 2006, and 2008. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_nominees_for_the_Nobel_Prize_in_Literature; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_female_nominees_for_the_Nobel_Prize). I would like for the authors of these two articles to update them with information about Dr. Mostwin. Thank you for your help. --Dorothystassone (talk) 22:09, 22 April 2025 (UTC)

Requested articles
[edit]When you removed items from Wikipedia:Requested articles/Medicine with an edit summary of "no sources", did you mean that you searched for sources and couldn't find any, or did you mean that nobody listed sources on that page? WhatamIdoing (talk) 21:54, 26 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @WhatamIdoing<nowiki>, I removed the items because there were no sources listed (and a brief search indicated that there weren't enough information to demonstrate significant notability). The page states,
Requested articles without at least one reliable source linked in the request are eligible to be removed from the list at any time.
Cheers, GoldRomean (talk) 22:53, 26 April 2025 (UTC)- I don't think that it's good to remove "medical" items (as opposed to people and organizations) just because they weren't listed with a source, but if you've checked and couldn't find sources, then of course there's not much to be done. Some of them are probably better suited for a redirect. Bozeman's position, for example, is an old (19th century) surgical position suitable for anal surgery. It could get an item in Surgical positions#Positions but that's probably the most I'd expect. WhatamIdoing (talk) 00:36, 27 April 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for your response - I'll consider that next time! Upon further research, Bozeman's position, for example, as added in 2011! It's reasonable to assume it won't be made anytime soon (as an article). (And wow, this really demonstrates how old WP/RA/most requests are!) Cheers! GoldRomean (talk) 01:11, 27 April 2025 (UTC)
- I have reverted the medicine changes. GoldRomean, please go back and revert all these wholesale changes. --Trovatore (talk) 07:31, 28 April 2025 (UTC)

However, if you must - many of the sources provided only briefly mention Goutama, which is likely why your draft was rejected. Cheers. GoldRomean (talk) 13:37, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
Requested articles
[edit]Hi GoldRomean,
I notice you've been deleting large numbers of requested articles in mathematics. Maybe elsewhere too; I don't have those on my watchlist. But frankly I think you've very badly misunderstood the concept. When you request an article, it's nice if you give sources, but it's not remotely required. The only thing that is required is you think there should be an article on that thing, and you think there isn't one.
If you look at an individual requested article and you know that's not really a thing, or you think it's in the wrong place or not notable, that's different. But please don't do wholesale removals just because someone didn't give sources in advance. --Trovatore (talk) 07:19, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, the requested article page states,
Requested articles without at least one reliable source linked in the request are eligible to be removed from the list at any time.
And take a random request, for example - Anabelioid - it was added in three years ago [2], and I suspect that some requests are over 10 years old. You probably understand how unlikely it is that a requested article is created - and even more so if no reliable sources (or even just a source) is provided for one to start their research. Hope that makes sense. Cheers, GoldRomean (talk) 13:17, 28 April 2025 (UTC)- I take that as meaning, if you see an individual requested article and you're pretty sure it's not notable, and there's no source given, go ahead and remove that one.
- I object very sharply to the wholesale removals. I ask you to stop that immediately and revert the previous ones. --Trovatore (talk) 17:52, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for your response. By this definition, I am allowed to large amounts of wholesale additions which cannot be removed unless individually looked at to determine notability, no?
Also, you have provided no counter to my above explanationsexcept "I object very sharply" and "I ask you to stop that immediately" (for the record, I have, temporarily, until we can possibly resolve this conflict). To help resolve the issue, although I don't agree with your opinion, I can possibly agree to not cleanup more technical requests like those at Math and Physics. However, unsourced requests like biography and education, for example, are 1) Horribly backlogged, 2) Very often non-notable and made for promotional purposes, and 3) Extremely old. I believe it's necessary to clean up the requests pages to bring more attention to those that can provide sources (as even those are unlikely to be created). Cheers, GoldRomean (talk) 18:25, 28 April 2025 (UTC)- OK, look, here's how I see "requested articles".
- They're basically just lists of ideas. Someone tries to look up a concept and doesn't find it, or thinks about a concept that they know about and finds there's no article. So they go ahead and mark it down in "requested articles". Maybe at some point, could be years later, someone else finds it and realizes they can write an article about it. The encyclopedia is improved.
- If the first person has to find sources ahead of time, well, that loses a lot of the point, because that's already a significant fraction of the work in putting up a start-class article.
- I think this doesn't need to be crufted up with a lot of process and formality. If you see a particular item and you know enough about the subject matter to be pretty sure that isn't a notable thing, sure, go ahead and remove it. But to just remove whole swaths of requests because they didn't check some formal box, I don't see how that improves the encyclopedia. I think it's actually harmful, because maybe an article that could have been useful doesn't get written. --Trovatore (talk) 20:42, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
- I suggest a compromise - let's agree to disagree. I see your point, though it doesn't apply to biographies, schools, companies, etc. which are usually just added by people looking for promotional pages. So how about we keep your reverts on pages related to the sciences and such, and leave my cleanup on education, biographies, artists, etc? Cheers. GoldRomean (talk) 23:43, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
- I won't fight you on the bios and so on. Someone else might though. --Trovatore (talk) 23:57, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
- I do still want to point out the hidden assumption in your choice of the word "backlogged". That suggests that you're thinking of "requested articles" as some sort of queue or task list. I don't think that's the right way to think of it. These are possibilities to be explored. There's no OKR to meet; this is just a starting point for people looking for stuff to write about, that someone at least was interested enough to ask about. Any article that comes out of that process, obviously, has to meet all the usual criteria. As for promotional requests, I suppose that can happen, but it seems very inefficient. Why wouldn't the requester just write the article themselves? --Trovatore (talk) 00:34, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
- I agree, partially, which is why I support the compromise. My opinion on promotional articles still stands, however. I think, really, the root of the issue is that it takes literally seconds to request an article - and may take hours to write it. If I wanted to promote myself, it would be so easy just to add something on Requested articles (with maybe my personal webpage as a source) and wrongly believe that someone will write it as opposed to actually doing it myself (or paying companies to do so) and having to deal with AfC, NPP, possibly CSD/AfD, etc. Best, GoldRomean (talk) 00:45, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
- (Really, all things considered, I think requested articles/WikiProject RA needs a major rehaul anyway with issues like a lot of editors don't know about it/forget about it, and like mentioned above the disproportionality between requesters and request"ees" (which is why I still believe sources should be provided for all requests)). GoldRomean (talk) 00:48, 29 April 2025 (UTC)

Requested Articles Website Link
[edit]As I noticed, there is a mention of myself in requested articles. You made a cleanup there. I don't really care about it, since nobody wrote this article, even smallest one; but i wonder: if you not removed my name, Nicholaas Chiao, from the list, why did you axed link to my website? It probably has more information on my work than any other linked page. Nicholaas81 (talk) 02:21, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
- My apologies; you may add it back if you like, but I removed it because your personal website is not considered a reliable source. Cheers, GoldRomean (talk) 02:31, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
- No i will not add it. It supposed to be done by others. If Anna Weyant and Amoako Boafo or Aboudia have Wiki pages i think i should have one too. I simply think it is fair.W Nicholaas81 (talk) 03:16, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
- Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean or that you understood what I meant. Did I remove your request? If so, which one? GoldRomean (talk) 14:30, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
- If I did, it was because you provided no reliable sources supporting your request. You can't say "I think it's only fair that I have a page since X has one too" (see WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS). You must provide reliable sources covering yourself to establish notability. Cheers, GoldRomean (talk) 14:32, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
- We are in business competition with everyone who you call reliable sources. They have permanent advertizers, large galleries who serve many artists with conflict of interests with me. It is difficult to prove that art investors are happy with any new world class artist who can capture huge portion of a pie of total sales. If i gain, they could lose money. A lot of money. Only Internet fame could be a ticket. Okay i don't have to describe own problems. If you consider my website not trusted source so, a lot of other people might do. Nicholaas81 (talk) 14:56, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
- First - are there multiple people using your account? Wikipedia is not a place to promote your business. Additionally, having an article wil not bring you "internet fame" - see WP:FAMOUS. If you believe pages exist that are not supported by reliable sources, let me know and I can nominate them for deletion. GoldRomean (talk) 15:01, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
- I am the only user. Instagram and Facebook are for fame. They give it too randomly and way corrupt. I recognize insta fame of Boafo and Weyant are random luck. But it permitted their career growth and sales. Best! it is not a topic of Wikipedia. Nicholaas81 (talk) 15:56, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
- I am sorry, but I have no idea what this comment means. Wikipedia is not for promotional content, unlike Instagram or Facebook. GoldRomean (talk) 15:59, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
- I read Amoako Boafo: most i see is plain commercial statement of how expensive his work. And promotion of his galleries. No word about Egon Shiele influence and similarity no word why it is culture. Nicholaas81 (talk) 16:51, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
- I read Anna Weyant? I see pr department of Gagosian and Sothebys clearly worked on building trust of own brands. They both are nothing, but business promotion and reputation building Nicholaas81 (talk) 16:53, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
- Just because some pages are "bad" doesn't mean you are allowed to have a page, again, see WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. Either way, I don't see the point of this argument. I didn't remove your request. If you wish to add back your website, feel free to do so.
- Additionally, I don't understand how Anna Weyant is built by the PR department of Gargosian and Sotheby's. She has recieved notable coverage in the Wall Street Journal, for example, and her art has sold for over a million dollars.
plain commercial statement of how expensive his work
Well yes, if an artist was able to sell a piece for over 3 million dollars that is pretty notable. I don't see the "commercial statement" here. Again, Boafo has been covered by the WSJ.- Looking at your request, only two of the links you provided actually work; one of which doesn't mention you at all and the other is your own website, which is not a reliable source for establishing notability.
- Either way, I don't see the argument here. I didn't even remove your request. Cheers. GoldRomean (talk) 17:18, 29 April 2025 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!
[edit]![]() |
The Tireless Contributor Barnstar |
Thank you for updating and adding short descriptions to articles on Wikipedia. With your help, the WikiProject's top 3000 list has been cleared for April 2025, the second month in a row! Your work has made Wikipedia better :-). LR.127 (talk) 12:52, 1 May 2025 (UTC) |
- @LR.127 Awww thanks so much! Out of curiosity, how do you find all the editors that have worked on the list? It's not like it has an edit history where you can quickly see all contributors. Cheers, GoldRomean (talk) 14:47, 1 May 2025 (UTC)
- It's all manual, but it's not that difficult!
- I look at the revision history of the list page and I find the exact revision (or WP:DIFF) that has all the 3000 articles from the beginning of the last month. This time, it was the bot adding data for articles' view counts from March 2025.
- I then scroll past all the 3000 listings and choose random ones (about 50?) and look at that article's edit history for whoever added a short description to that article in the past month. Especially for the articles with low view count, editors adding the description are usually from Uhai's list (it helps if people have the {{User Short descriptions}} userbox so I know for sure they do short descriptions frequently).
- Because I only check 50 short descriptions and not all 3000, I'm sure I've missed a couple of editors who are adding short descriptions simply through bad luck. I try and counter this by looking at previous recipients of my barnstars and see if they're still keeping up the good work.
- Then I load the same barnstar through the WikiLove extension and send it.
- Hope this explains it! I'm sure it sounds way more confusing than it actually is, but it's intuitive for my brain! Cheers :-). LR.127 (talk) 18:33, 1 May 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for explaining! That actually makes a lot of sense. Also, completely unrelated but it's cool to see another user signing off with "cheers". Although the smiley is a nice touch :). GoldRomean (talk) 13:47, 2 May 2025 (UTC)
Question from Not-cheesewhisk3rs (11:21, 6 May 2025)
[edit]Hello! I'm new to Wikipedia, I was wondering if the Wayback Machine is reliable for sources? It's for a page I'm working on at User:Not-cheesewhisk3rs/wasteof.money that might eventually replace Draft:wasteof.money. I know that the sources it needs are more secondary sources but in the meantime I'm not sure if the Wayback Machine is trustworthy for researching into history and stuff like that. Thanks for taking the time to read this :) --cheesewhisk3rs (pester) 11:21, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, and welcome. Think of the Wayback Machine as a way to view sources - it is okay to use, but ultimately, whether you should depends on the actual source being accessed using it. Keep in mind that your draft currently is composed of sources from the site wasteof.money. In order to have your draft be accepted, you need reliable, secondary sources showing significant coverage - for example, instead of
being released on 12 June 2021 as text saying "hello world."
being cited to an archive of the website, you would ideally have it sourced to a independent source saying "wasteof.money was released on 12 June 2021, with text saying "hello world"" and then you would paraphrase that into your article, if that makes sense. Let me know if you have any more questions. GoldRomean (talk) 13:24, 6 May 2025 (UTC)- I get what you’re trying to say, but it doesn’t really make sense - how would a reliable secondary source know this? Wouldn't they ultimately get the information from the website itself? And if not, why can’t Wikipedia use the source where a secondary source gets its information from? If this makes sense (it does in my head but less in writing) cheesewhisk3rs (pester) 09:18, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Not-cheesewhisk3rs - Thanks for asking - that's a really good question. I'd like to address a few things.
- Let's assume we're looking at a secondary source generally considered pretty reliable - The New York Times. Say a NYT journalist wanted to write an article about XYZ Company. The journalist will not just go to XYZ.com and look at the facts there and report that "XYZ company is the best company in the world..." "XYZ sells 23 million things a year..." What if this information was false? Usually, reliable secondary sources will make sure to provide accurate reporting. They will probably interview people from XYZ and try to look at real data and information. After all, it's really easy for XYZ to lie on their website. Anyone with a website can claim that they are "best in the world".
- Additionally, there is the issue of notability, which is established through secondary sources. Using secondary sources help show that your topic is notable. Having your own website does not mean you are notable, but if the NYT wrote about XYZ company, it probably means that XYZ company is somewhat important/famous.
- Hope that answers your questions. Cheers, GoldRomean (talk) 14:27, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

Stanek
[edit]Stanek is probably one of the more interesting examples of his type, but there have been some others - I also highly recommend looking into Handbook for Mortals and Save the Pearls. Both are publishing controversies, each very different. The first is about someone who gamed their way onto the NYT Bestseller List and the other is well... it's something. The Wikipedia article doesn't really do STP justice, however I think at the time a lot of the sourcing for that tended to be in places Wikipedia couldn't use.
