reinstatement of article hostile government takeover now draft:hostile government takeover(2)

[edit]

"Hi Sammi Brie, my article Hostile Government Takeover was moved to draftspace, but I believe it meets Wikipedia’s guidelines. Before resubmitting, could you take a look and let me know if any changes are needed?" Admittedly I made some stupid mistakes when I tried to remove a redirect that was placed on the article since I wanted it to remove the redirect but still keep it in google search results. I promise though for now when a page move is placed on a page that causes a redirect I will either ask for the page to have moves protected or I will use the nodirect edit on the original page and allow the new page to be indexed by google. It was a really stupid mistake. It won't happen again. Cradleofcivilization (talk) 22:55, 3 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Radio station transmitters in Guam

[edit]

Hi Sammi! Do you have any idea how to identify which transmitter belongs to a specific station? The FCC facility details for a number of Guam radio stations (including KMOY, KOKU, KPRG, KSDA-FM, KTKB-FM, KUAM-FM) are clearly incorrect by hundreds of feet - enough to identify the mountain they're no, but not which transmitter is which on those mountains. Best, Pi.1415926535 (talk) 22:35, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Pi.1415926535, do you have any information on Antenna Structure Registration numbers (ASRs)? They're 7-digit and would precisely identify a facility. Try searching FCCdata. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 22:42, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It appears that the FCC database does have the ASR numbers. However, how would I use those numbers to find more precise coordinates? (I know nothing about radio stations - I'm just adding coords to articles tagged as needing them.) Pi.1415926535 (talk) 23:20, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Help about an article being deleted

[edit]

Hello @Sammi Brie

I am sending this message to you to ask you for help concerning an article marked as "article for deletion".

This article is here : Shahriyar Majidzade

The subject of this article is the founder of a research center which I am also a member of. After this article was marked as "article for deletion" on the grounds of "not being a notable person" I tried to edit this article to add more information and citations to justify the notability of this person.

After editing the article as a new Wikipedian "Jay8g" Messaged me  (User_talk:1amroff) and told me that my actions are considered as having "conflict of interest" because of the relationship between me and the subject.

He also told me that I can ask for help for this matter so someone proofread my edits and make the article a neutral one.

I would be very happy if you would help me.

Thanks. 1amroff (talk) 20:31, 26 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @1amroff, I'm familiar with COI rules as I actually am also a disclosed paid editor. Go read WP:COI first, declare your conflict of interest as described, and then... I'm not sure what to say, really.
  • I don't read Azerbaijani, which is a major detriment to an editor trying to put this page afloat. But a gazillion trivial mentions in reliable sources do not amount to significant coverage, and the lone other comment on the AfD nomination makes me suspect that as a possible issue. We need significant coverage of his background. Are any of the articles in-depth coverage of him specifically?
  • There is a neutral point of view problem. Without being able to dig into the sources, the Political activity section makes a lot of claims that are sweeping generalizations or slanted against the ruling party. Some attention needs to be paid to tone here.
Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 20:49, 26 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
First, thank you for informing me about COI requirements and I have added the required badge to my user page about COI.
Secondly, according to your first bullet point, the following two links are from a German Online news portal who covered specifically Shahriyar Majidzade's activities. I guess, it would be easier for you to check the contents of these links considering they are in German.
Überraschung bei Putins Nachbar: Ein Kandidat wirbelt Aserbaidschans Wahl durcheinander
Whirlwind at Russia's neighbor: Young politicians challenge Putin's ally
According to your second bullet point, you are right. As I am new to Wikipedia I may have written it from a biased position and I would also ask for your proposals on how to write neutrally.

The second round of the 2025 WikiCup ended on 28 April at 23:59 UTC. To reiterate what we said in the previous newsletter, we are no longer disqualifying contestants based on how many points (now known as round points) they received. Instead, the contestants with the highest round-point totals now receive tournament points at the end of each round. These tournament points are carried over between rounds, and can only be earned if a competitor is among the top 16 round-point scorers at the end of each round. This table shows all competitors who have received tournament points so far. Everyone who competed in round 2 will advance to round 3 unless they have withdrawn or been banned.

Round 2 was quite competitive. Four contestants scored more than 1,000 round points, and eight scored more than 500 points (including one who has withdrawn). The following competitors scored at least 800 points:

In addition, we would like to recognize Generalissima (submissions) for her efforts; she scored 801 round points but withdrew before the end of the round.

The full scores for round 2 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 13 featured articles, 20 featured lists, 4 featured-topic articles, 138 good articles, 7 good-topic articles, and more than 100 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 19 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 300 reviews.

Remember that any content promoted after 28 April but before the start of Round 3 can be claimed in Round 3. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send.
