KMOV Subchannels
[edit]Hello Mvcg66b3r, I saw your message on my talk page about your reverting my edit to KMOV, and you said that if I thought you made a mistake, that I should leave a message on your talk page, so here I am. Simply put, the info currently on TV Fool for the KMOV subchannels is not up-to-date, and I cannot find another source that publishes this type of information. Nonetheless, I know, of my own personal knowledge, the latest details because I have recently watched TV within the St. Louis broadcast area, using a modern TV tuner with an "Info" function that yields info about the broadcast frequencies and picture resolution. I was already aware of WP:NOR and WP:V, and I believe in the importance of verifiability; I myself, on multiple occasions, have cited, tagged, or removed uncited info in Wikipedia articles. However, in this case, the information I edited is independently verifiable to anyone physically located in the KMOV broadcast range and who has access to a reasonably modern television tuner with a stats/info button, similar to how "the sky is blue" (WP:BLUE) is independently verifiable to anyone physically present on Earth and who has a set of working eyes. I would go further even, and say the situation is not merely similar, but is exactly identical to WP:BLUE as even without access to an info window on the TV listing hard numbers, anyone with a good set of eyes watching on a good HDTV screen can certainly see the difference in quality between 480i and 720p, and even the less significant difference between 720p and 1080i may be distinguishable to particularly astute viewers by eyesight alone. Therefore, I respectfully assert that my last edit to KMOV should stand as the current revision.
Kind regards, SmileySnail (talk) 10:18, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
- Yeah, I reverted the edit. Also, you might want to let Trip over at RabbitEars know about the changes. Mvcg66b3r (talk) 13:24, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you, and yes, I sent an email to RabbitEars about this information.
- PS: In my first message, I did mean to say, "the info currently on RabbitEars", not TV Fool. I got mixed up because TV Fool is another website I found when I was trying to find a source to cite for my edit, but they don't list info about subchannels; TV Fool is mostly coverage maps. Thanks for your ANI report
[edit]Thanks for reporting User:Procedurality at WP:ANI. I guess retracting your report was reasonable, but it made me check the user's contributions. As a result, I re-did all of your reverts. I also reverted several other edits by the user because they were unsourced or simply wrong. Strange case. On the one hand, the user makes some edits of rather low quality, and then adds thousands of characters in articles about completely unrelated subjects. These long texts were written in a rather professional journalistic style, but also overly flowery and verbose. If they were written by a human, I'd say the author must be a well-trained journalist or PR-person, but given the much lower quality of the other edits, I strongly suspect that these long contributions were produced by a large language model. — Chrisahn (talk) 04:16, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
Edits on WPLG article
[edit]Please refrain from removing citations on the WPLG webpage. The citations mentioned are NOT "self-published" sources, per Wikipedia's own policy, which you linked to, as stated:
"Self-published expert sources may be considered reliable when produced by an established subject-matter expert, whose work in the relevant field has previously been published by reliable, independent publications"
The author of the piece is a subject-matter expert, and their work has appeared in reliable, independent publications in the past. Additionally, the website is part of an incorporated company — not merely a "self-published blog." Accordingly, the citations are from a reliable source of information, and not a "self-published source." — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheMediaHistorian (talk • contribs) 00:38, 27 March 2025 (UTC)

Maamuitaau
[edit]Firstly, there is absolutely no rule against redlinks being present in articles in the first place, and absolutely no rule that one cannot wikilink a title in preparation for creating the article. The rule is not that you always have to finish the article first before its title can be wikilinked anywhere, because Wikipedia:Red link explicitly says that "In general, a red link should remain in an article if there is a reasonable expectation that the article in question will eventually be created (either as its own article or as a redirect). Remove red links if and only if Wikipedia should not have any coverage on the subject."
Secondly, my user talk page belongs to me, and the rules about user pages at Wikipedia:User pages are very clear that users can remove anything from their talk pages that they choose to. It is not my job to meekly put up with getting rapped on the nose for an error that wasn't an error, and the decision about what stays on or comes off my user talk page is mine to make, not anybody else's. Bearcat (talk) 23:53, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
- You're right, I'm sorry I got carried away. You being an admin and everything, but I wish you didn't use that kind of language in your edit summary. Mvcg66b3r (talk) 23:59, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
- No worries. But it should also be pretty obvious that if I go into an article that already exists and add wikilinks to a term that wasn't already wikilinked and doesn't have an article yet, it's precisely because I'm actually about to create that article within a matter of minutes. It's far easier to find relevant instances of the term that need to be wikilinked before the article is created than it is to find them after the article is created, so if I'm about to create an article, I generally search for uses of the title first, and wikilink them right away if there are only a couple (though I hold onto the search results list and do the wikilinking afterward if there are a lot). But it should be obvious from my edit history that I don't go around adding gratuitous red wikilinks to existing articles at random — so if you see me wikilinking a term that doesn't already have an article yet, you can take it as a given that the article will exist within five or ten minutes at most. I do apologize for getting ticked off about it, but that's why that happened. Bearcat (talk) 16:35, 4 April 2025 (UTC)
WABE TV/NHK revert
[edit]Wassup with the reverting? WABE ran a chyron crawl intermittently announcing NHK's April 1 end, for a week or two beforehand and NHK was scrubbed from the web site entirely, leaving only 30.1 on its 'Streaming' and 'Listings' pages, with no announcement anywhere I could find. (Weirdly the Georgia Public Broadcasting site now offers NHK streaming, but nothing ota.)

The citations of certain Parazoan taxa are needed
[edit]I found a few questionable edits from a certain wikipedian He/she/they added stuff like Otaviozoa, Archeozoa and stuff like that I didn't mean to be rude,so sorry. But it seems that some people prefer to edit without and citations or references. Whenever I do an edit without ref I write "citation needed" on the edit description. Image field / studios
[edit]I'm fine with this (if it's the main studio or other facility) because this is kind of what the dual image capability of {{Infobox television station}} was intended for. This is how many Asian TV station pages are set up. I am also cognizant of the fact it may be better for mobile readers to feature this kind of image up top.
