DYK approval

Hi Sammi Brie, thank you for reviewing Template:Did you know nominations/Edward Cridge. I am new to the DYK process -- when you mark something as approved, does it automatically update the "passed" parameter to "yes" after a period of time, or does that have to be manually done to approve the hook? Thanks! Dclemens1971 (talk) 14:47, 24 February 2025 (UTC)

@Dclemens1971 That happens when a promoter moves the hook into a prep or queue space. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 15:21, 24 February 2025 (UTC)
OK, great - thank you for clarifying! Dclemens1971 (talk) 15:39, 24 February 2025 (UTC)

WikiCup 2025 March newsletter

The first round of the 2025 WikiCup ended on 26 February. As a reminder, we are no longer disqualifying the lowest-scoring contestants; everyone who competed in round 1 will advance to round 2 unless they have withdrawn or been banned from Wikipedia. Instead, the contestants with the highest round-point totals now receive tournament points at the end of each round. Unlike the round points in the main WikiCup table, which are reset at the end of each round, tournament points are carried over between rounds and can only be earned if a competitor is among the top 16 round-point scorers. This table shows all competitors who have received tournament points so far.

Round 1 was very competitive compared with previous years; two contestants scored more than 1,000 round points, and the top 16 contestants all scored more than 500 round points. The following competitors scored more than 800 round points:

The full scores for round 1 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 18 featured articles, 26 featured lists, 1 featured-topic article, 197 good articles, 38 good-topic articles and more than 100 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 23 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 550 reviews.

Remember that any content promoted after 26 February but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2, which begins on 1 March. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. reinstatement of article hostile government takeover now draft:hostile government takeover(2)

"Hi Sammi Brie, my article Hostile Government Takeover was moved to draftspace, but I believe it meets Wikipedia’s guidelines. Before resubmitting, could you take a look and let me know if any changes are needed?" Admittedly I made some stupid mistakes when I tried to remove a redirect that was placed on the article since I wanted it to remove the redirect but still keep it in google search results. I promise though for now when a page move is placed on a page that causes a redirect I will either ask for the page to have moves protected or I will use the nodirect edit on the original page and allow the new page to be indexed by google. It was a really stupid mistake. It won't happen again. Cradleofcivilization (talk) 22:55, 3 April 2025 (UTC)

Bingo Blitz (game show) article?

Could you help make this an article on here, there are some sources, however, I could use some help with more online, and to make the article with solid citations. OWaunTon (talk) 00:24, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

@Sammi Brie, so someone has made a draft of it, but not much has been added yet.
Here: Draft:Bingo Blitz (game show). OWaunTon (talk) 00:45, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
So it's really recent, @OWaunTon. That explains why sourcing wasn't available. It may be, quite frankly, that the way to cover this right now is as a section of Bingo Blitz (the game show is an adaptation of this mobile game). Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 01:06, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

KAAB Hot Springs Arkansas

hi! I need more sources about a defunct Arkansas radio station called KAAB. And I found more of that station’s history. PoppysButterflies (talk) 09:50, 22 April 2025 (UTC)

Radio station transmitters in Guam

Hi Sammi! Do you have any idea how to identify which transmitter belongs to a specific station? The FCC facility details for a number of Guam radio stations (including KMOY, KOKU, KPRG, KSDA-FM, KTKB-FM, KUAM-FM) are clearly incorrect by hundreds of feet - enough to identify the mountain they're no, but not which transmitter is which on those mountains. Best, Pi.1415926535 (talk) 22:35, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

@Pi.1415926535, do you have any information on Antenna Structure Registration numbers (ASRs)? They're 7-digit and would precisely identify a facility. Try searching FCCdata. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 22:42, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
It appears that the FCC database does have the ASR numbers. However, how would I use those numbers to find more precise coordinates? (I know nothing about radio stations - I'm just adding coords to articles tagged as needing them.) Pi.1415926535 (talk) 23:20, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
@Pi.1415926535, you can search at https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/AsrSearch/asrRegistrationSearch.jsp. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 23:22, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for the help! Some did have ASR numbers available so I was able to refine them. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 20:10, 22 April 2025 (UTC)

DYK for WFRV-TV

On 23 April 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article WFRV-TV, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a Wisconsin TV station claimed the first-ever broadcast of a lunar eclipse, which it captured by moving a studio camera into its parking lot? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/WFRV-TV. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, WFRV-TV), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
