To report an error in content currently or imminently to appear on Main Page, use the appropriate section below. Reports should contain:
- Where is the error? An exact quotation using {{!xt}} of the text in question helps.
- Offer a correction if possible using {{xt}}.
- References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error.
- Time zones. The Main Page runs on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC, currently 02:34 on 8 August 2025) and is not adjusted to your local time zone.
- Can you resolve the problem yourself? If the error lies primarily in the content of an article linked from the Main Page, fix the problem there before reporting it here. Text on the Main Page generally defers to the articles with bolded links. Upcoming content on the Main Page is usually only protected from editing beginning 24 hours before its scheduled appearance. Before that period, you can be bold and fix any issues yourself.
- Do not use {{edit fully-protected}} on this page, which will not get a faster response. It is unnecessary, because this page is not protected, and causes display problems because this is not a talk page. (See the bottom of this revision for an example.)
- No chit-chat. Lengthy discussions should be moved to a suitable location elsewhere, such as the talk page of the relevant article or project.
- Actual errors only. Failures of subjective criteria such as interestingness are not errors.
- Respect other editors. Another user wrote the text you want changed, or reported an issue they see in something you wrote. Everyone's goal should be producing the best Main Page possible. The compressed time frame of the Main Page means sometimes action must be taken before there has been time for everyone to comment. Be civil to fellow users.
- Reports are removed when resolved. Once an error has been addressed or determined not to be an error, or the item has been rotated off the Main Page, the report will be removed from this page. Check the revision history for a record of any discussion or action taken; no archives are kept.

[edit]- 1970 – To say that "Jonathan Jackson kidnapped Harold Haley" doesn't even come close to describing an attack on a courtroom in the midst of a trial, the taking of hostages, and the death of Judge Haley and 3 other people. Abductive (reasoning) 06:09, 7 August 2025 (UTC)
- Would you like to make a specific suggestion how to reword it, Abductive? Schwede66 06:18, 7 August 2025 (UTC)
- Jonathan Jackson took hostages in a courthouse in Marin County, California, to coerce the release of the Soledad Brothers, including Jackson's brother George, resulting in the death of judge Harold Haley. Abductive (reasoning) 06:39, 7 August 2025 (UTC)
- I've reworded roughly along these lines, although avoiding mention of George (already covered by the Soledad Brothers link) and including mention of the three others who died. — Amakuru (talk) 08:06, 7 August 2025 (UTC)

- I just pushed out a substantial improvement to the article Wren Building. Since the 330th anniversary of this building's foundation being laid is tomorrow, I would appreciate it running as one of the blurbs. Below is my proposed blurb.
- 1695 – The foundation for what is now known as Wren Building, the oldest surviving college building in the United States, is laid in a ceremony at Middle Plantation, Virginia.

- 1991 entry: "an error in exchanging the guys on the highest stock of the mast". Is "stock" the right word here? I couldn't find this usage in a dictionary. It is not used in the target article, which talks only of replacing a "main cable". So that might be better terminology to use in any case. JMCHutchinson (talk) 19:45, 7 August 2025 (UTC)
- The "main cable" is a guy-wire. "Stock" refers to the hardware mounted on telecommunications masts, like antennas and microwave dishes. Schwede66 22:01, 7 August 2025 (UTC)
Done I've dealt with both the items above: added the Wren Building and copy-edited the Warsaw radio mast item. Schwede66 22:07, 7 August 2025 (UTC)

[edit]The text says "The summer form (prorsa) has black wings, while the winter form (levana) – adapted for diapause – has red wings", and later "This map, in the prorsa form, was photographed..." -- but the picture shows a red-and-white winged butterfly. Suspect it is a levana form, not a prorsa form. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.86.3.5 (talk) 15:45, 7 August 2025 (UTC)
- I know almost nothing about butterflies, but I think the caption is correct -- this is the levana form, and it looks quite different (note that the "spots" are darker than the rest of the wing). Whether the description ought to be updated, I'll leave to the experts -- specialists' ideas of colour, shape etc don't always exactly match how those terms are used in everyday speech, and of course there's the lighting of the photo and so on to consider.
