Reason: An administrator of a website associated with this community (LessWrong) posted about the article on the website, calling some passages "inane", accusing editors of editing despite being topic banned, and encouraged his followers to edit the article (https://www.lesswrong.com/posts/EQJfdqSaMcJyR5k73/#bfzEHGiiNtnRerujL). Since then the article has seen several SPAs show up making disruptive edits that need to be reverted, wasting editors' time. Reason: Today Axiom Mission 4 is going to launch and the mission is going to take place for 2 weeks minimum. Already the page of the astronaut is having 70,000 views[1] and going to increase more. Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

  • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
  • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
  • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
  • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Presumably the IP intends to nominate this and the below for deletion based on their other edits. But that doesn't require an unprotection; they can just request that the TfD tag be added using {{edit template-protected}}. According to quarry:query/94896, there is a single block from 2021 that did use it, but I'm not sure that that is a good reason for protection if the block has already expired. Sdrqaz (talk) 03:49, 25 June 2025 (UTC)

Reason: This was indef-semied via this request by Daniel Case (his talk page is also protected, hence asking here first). This was probably inappropriate; the report said "repeated IP vandalism over the last 6 months", but there were a mere 2 vandalism edits over that time frame, both on the same day by the same IP. I don't see anything here that ever really rose to protection being needed. Thanks in advance. 35.139.154.158 (talk) 12:48, 22 June 2025 (UTC)

@Daniel Case: I'm going to leave this to you. Perhaps indefinite pending changes would be fine, but I would also be fine with leaving it unchanged. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 06:25, 24 June 2025 (UTC)

Reason: The protection is no longer necessary because the war ended. I would like to edit or suggest an edit that someone could make. I would like to suggest to change the title of the war from "Iran-Israel War" to "The Twelve Day War." Firstly, at least for now, the war has effectively ended. Secondly, the term 12 days' war was coined by President Trump, and President Trump played a big rule in ending the conflict in striking Iranian nuclear facilities and in initiating the eace process by calling for a ceasefire. Therefore, in respect for President Trump, who effectively ended the war, I suggest we change the name of the conflict to the Twelve Day War. PerryHoffmandeism (talk) 23:08, 24 June 2025 (UTC)

Ok. Even if the page will be protected, what do you think of my suggestion to change the page title from Iran-Israel War to the 12 Day War? Considering that the war is no longer limited to just Israel and Iran, and given Trump's success to end th conflict, I think we should allow him the luxury of coining the name for the war, as the 12 Day War. If I cannot edit that, do you want to edit it or pass it along for someone to consider editing it to that name, in respect for the man who ended it? The war only lasted 12 days after all.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

  • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
  • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
  • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
  • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
  • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

The statement that : "9,000+ Israeli civilians displaced" and "8,000+ Israeli civilians homeless" at the bottom of the "Casualties and losses" panel is misinformation by omission. Civilian infrastructure was also destroyed in Iran (example https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/6/13/shock-fear-in-tehran-after-israel-bombs-residential-military-areas) and I think we should either remove the statement about Israeli civilians, or add one for Iranian civilians in case any estimate exists. Otherwise it makes it sound only Iran targeted civilian infrastructure. Chalchiutlicue (talk) 12:56, 24 June 2025 (UTC)

Requests for autopatrolled

Autopatrolled

I've been here for almost two decades, with 30k+ edits and a fair number of articles created in the mean time. I believe I am well-qualified for autopatrolled perms. _dk (talk) 23:50, 16 June 2025 (UTC)

Hi. Based upon my learning and experience over the years of editing on Wikipedia (almost a decade now), I have created very selected pages which I find qualifying Wikipedia policies. If I find them trending in news but un-complying with the policies, I usually leave a redirect, or occasionally start with the draft. I believe not a single page that I created and/or majorly contributed has been deleted, and many respected editors and admins whom I had interacted with have always been helpful and supportive, believing in my good faith. Plus I only rewrite those articles in bad state which I find relevant, and not every other random article. However, due to recent attacks by sock puppetry over my edits, I want to be an autopatrolled user, so that I can easily continue volunteering independently here, and participate in the ongoing Destubathon as well. I promise I will not misuse this position. Thank you! M. Billoo 13:24, 19 June 2025 (UTC)

As of writing, I have created more than 50 articles from either redlinks or expanded redirects alongside ~30 templates, with only one superfluous template having been deleted. With a dozen Good Article and DYK citations, I believe I have proven myself in understanding the fomat and style of Wikipedia. My current project, to create articles on US Civil War-era ship classes, has and will quickly add more to the backlog. I have never had any issue with the New Page Patrol (that I recall), and would like to not add to their work as several of my previous articles/templates took months to be marked as reviewed (quite understandable, it's a large backlog!). My newest articles, all created since this weekend, (Mohican-class sloop, Sacramento-class sloop, Algoma-class sloop, and Potomac-class frigate) are well cited and comply with all requirments. Thank you! GGOTCC 02:32, 24 June 2025 (UTC)

You might want to go back to the Potomac-class frigate article and address the referencing errors that show up, GGOTCC. Schwede66 03:45, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
Done Upon a closer look, I see that those errors were introduced by an AWB run by Rich Smith. Schwede66 03:49, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
@Schwede66: and @GGOTCC:, sorry about that. Basically the cite errors appears as AWB converts 'others' to 'author', which cite book doesn't like as you should either have a first and last name OR an author. There is no need to put 'Internet Archive' there, so I've just removed it which resolved the error. - RichT|C|E-Mail 09:18, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
These things do happen with AWB runs. Stuff like that has happened to me too. It shouldn’t because one should check, but it does. I pinged you to (a) make you aware of it for future runs, and (b) because I thought you might want to go back over those edits. Great to hear that you are applying a fix, Rich Smith. Hello, I would like to use the editor mainly to have access to backreferences for editing using regular expressions. My actual use case would be to make a 300-line table sortable by last name. Work with data would also be useful. I also would like to be able to speed up formatting more generally, e.g. italics, quote marks, etc. Selbsportrait (talk) 22:27, 23 June 2025 (UTC)

I'm back again! I previously requested this to help with WP:POSTMOVE for links to Guna language (then withdrew that request), but since then I've realised there are a few areas I could use this tool in, not least for updating non-linked uses of "Kuna" and "Cuna" for Guna language and Guna people (of which there seem to be quite a lot). I might also use it for linking/redlinking new articles (for instance, some of the drafts I'm currently working on), and also to help out with updating some of the 90,000+ articles transcluding (the now-deprecated) Template:EngvarB to other English-variety templates. Obviously there might also be some typo correction etc. as required. Pineapple Storage (talk) 17:03, 24 June 2025 (UTC)

Hi there,

I'd like to request permission to add an English translation of a Wikipedia article I originally created (title: "Ukraine Art Aid Center" - currently available in Ukrainian and German). The article is about the organization I work for. The content has been reviewed and approved by our steering committee. I'm happy to provide any additional confirmations if needed.

Just a bit of background: I hold an MA in linguistics (English and German, Ivan Franko University in Lviv, Ukraine), completed a second MA program in English at a German university, and have over 10 years of experience working in English in areas like international development, cultural heritage, and cultural emergency response.

For the past couple of months, I’ve been trying to find a more experienced Wikipedia editor to help publish the English version of the article, but unfortunately haven’t had any luck. I’d be really grateful for the chance to publish it myself, as it would help raise awareness of our organization and support the important work we’re doing.

Thanks in advance for considering my request. I’m looking forward to your reply.

Warm regards, Vira Orlovska Vira Orlovska (talk) 11:58, 24 June 2025 (UTC)

Not done. You should create the translation in the Draft namespace and submit it for review. You don't need this user group to create a page in the Draft namespace. We don't really care that the content has been approved by your organisation as we're generally not interested in what an organisation has to say about itself - we're interested in summarising what other people have to say about the organisation. You will also need to disclose your connection to the organisation per the instructions on that page to comply with our Terms of Use. stwalkerster (talk) 15:30, 24 June 2025 (UTC)

My AFD stats are above 90% accurate. Have improved my understanding since last request. I am aware of and have been doing PROD, CSD and drafting , understanding of which are required for NPP rights . Thank you. Rahmatula786 (talk) 15:55, 20 June 2025 (UTC)

Not done, last time I pointed out issues with neutrality at Nandan Van Zoo. Rather than incorporating critical coverage into the article, you just cleaned up the formatting. That's not what I had asked you to do, and suggests a fundamental misunderstanding of what neutrality means on Wikipedia. signed, Rosguill talk 17:03, 23 June 2025 (UTC)

Hi, I'm requesting rights be extended after a one month trial. I would like to request permanent NPR rights if possible, as I have greatly enjoyed contributing in this capacity and I am eager to help reduce the backlog. Thanks! Halley luv Filipino ❤ (Talk) 00:23, 23 June 2025 (UTC)

I'm a patroller on the Hebrew Wikipedia with extensive experience in content review and Wikipedia policies. I am also familiar with English Wikipedia's guidelines and have been actively participating here, including contributing to article creation and quality control processes. I would like to contribute to New Page Patrol, mainly on topics related to Israel, Judaism, and Hungary, and I would be happy to expand my knowledge and activity into additional areas. NPR temporary permissions set to expire within a week. Requesting extension or permanent permissions. I have not been as active in the NPR space as I'd like to be, being very busy with the AfC Backlog Drive. Regardless, thank you for your time! MWFwiki (talk) 21:23, 23 June 2025 (UTC)

Hi there, my rights expire on the 30th and I would like to request an extension. I did ask a few weeks ago since I know of the perennial backlog here, but got rejected on the basis it was too early. I'm reapplying now since it's a little under a week until that happens. Aydoh8[what have I done now?] 23:34, 23 June 2025 (UTC)

Requests for page mover

Page mover

I am requesting page mover right mainly because it would help me draftify articles (see my draftify log). And secondarily because it would allow me to perform uncontroversial moves in mainspace without leaving being redirects. I have not participated in RMs but I have made moves that show that I understand the guidelines, namely:

Pending changes reviewer

This is my third application. I believe that I have enough experience and that with the help of Twinkle, I could throw a "ROLLBACK" command and thwart the vandals. Thank you, Starfall2015 chat | about me 06:14, 14 June 2025 (UTC)

This is a request for WP:PCR, not WP:ROLLBACK. Did you apply for the correct permission? HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 21:08, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
I did, but I have Twinkle and RedWarn. What really irritates me is that there are often about 10 changes but I can only revert them. Starfall2015 let's talk profile 15:50, 22 June 2025 (UTC)

I think I have enough experience editing and defending Wikipedia against vandalism. I routinely check the recent changes page, and know what vandalism or unexplained removal of content looks like. Therefore, I would like to review pending changes. I have read WP:PCR and understand it. If there is a edit that I'm not sure of, I will simply leave it for another editor to review. Hello! When checking my watchlist of frequently-vandalized articles or patrolling recent changes, I frequently work with articles which have pending changes. When there's obvious vandalism or a BLP issue I can already help out by reverting, but I'm requesting the reviewer role so I can approve any non-bad edit I come across -- ones which I've always had to simply ignore as false positives. I've checked out WP:PC and WP:RPC to familiarize myself with the policies and guidelines around recent changes and the expectations of reviewers. I appreciate your consideration :) — tony 15:55, 23 June 2025 (UTC)

I may make mistakes, but we all grw from them. The reason why I want to be a pending changes reviewer is so that I can approve edits that are not inline with Wikipedia's rules. I think that, since I'll become extended-confirm soon, it's time to request this permission again. PawPatroler (talk) 23:33, 23 June 2025 (UTC)

Not done. This is your third request for PCR inside two weeks. Please slow down, stop requesting permissions, and heed the advice that has been given to you; not least the final warning that was issued to you last week. Giraffer (talk) 23:24, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
Requests for rollback

Rollback

Hello! I'm reaching out to request rollback rights so I can tackle vandalism more effectively. I've been actively patrolling recent changes and using Twinkle to revert vandalism, and I'd also like to try using Huggle which requires rollback permissions.

I get that rollback is a fast-paced tool meant for clear cases of vandalism or unconstructive edits, and I'm well-versed in the relevant policies and guidelines.

Thanks for considering my request! Igor123121 (talk) 08:38, 22 June 2025 (UTC)

Done Malinaccier (talk) 15:54, 24 June 2025 (UTC)

I kindly request for Full Rollback Priviledges I was recently denied because of my poor quality to warn victim editors on their talk pages. I took that as a lesson and have improved on that rapidly quick. (Together with advice from 2 other loyal editors). But Please (Begging you) I really need these priviledges as I have read the advantages favor my abilities to warn editors Accurately Fast compared to The Default manual revert which is really delaying and a struggle. I recently attempted using the Twinkle Tool but it ruins the website's performance on my side (not sure why). Article modifications are coming in with blazing speed almost every milli-second. And the Default Manual Revert slows me down horribly. And victims may succeed in leaving damaged content on articles and other platforms, As Not every vandalism Fighter seems to be always online as much as I am now.

Please grant me the priviledges. It would be a pleasure to protect Wikipedia into being a safe, decent, and clean community. You have my word. I will Never let you down sir/ma'am. Criticize (talk) 09:19, 22 June 2025 (UTC)

@Criticize There's no point making a new request, when your previous request was declined so soon. It hasn't even been archived yet! Please wait atleast 2 weeks before making a new request. Begging rights like that would be considered Hat collecting There are plenty of other tools out there. Twinkle is not the only tool. In fact rollback is actually worse compared to other tools, when it comes to reverting. If you contribute using a desktop, you can also try RedWarn, or it's successor Ultraviolet. Cheers! OPHYRIUS 09:00, 23 June 2025 (UTC)
@Ophyrius
I strictly take back the begging and pleading part! I was indeed desperate yesterday.
Funny you now say rollback is worse. (Not sure if I can believe you)
Just this morning I coded a python update to a script entry I took from the anti-vandal tool. And it shockingly improved the speed of the manual revert method efficiently on my side.
And reduced time to auto warn editors, with customizable settings.
Not sure if I should come back to make another request. But I certainly will if i'm interested.
However, I still have this burning desire to help Wikipedia, and it can't be stopped.
Have a good day. Criticize (talk) 09:43, 23 June 2025 (UTC)
I'm saying that as I personally have used it & I find other tools better. I used that permission for other tools like Antivandal & SWViewer OPHYRIUS 11:17, 23 June 2025 (UTC)

I am respectfully requesting rollback rights as I am committed to upholding the quality and reliability of Wikipedia by actively monitoring recent changes and promptly reverting vandalism and unconstructive edits. Having familiarized myself with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, I believe that the rollback tool will allow me to more efficiently contribute to the maintenance of article integrity and the overall improvement of the encyclopedia.
