Question from Herschal Jackson (WMZA) (10:07, 5 March 2025)
[edit]Hi, i was wondering is there is a breakdown of requirements for a article on Wikipedia to be considered a excellent article. My reason for asking this is to ascertain all the items i need to ensure are present in my article for it to be considered at a level of excellence --Herschal Jackson (WMZA) (talk) 10:07, 5 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi there! Herschal Jackson (WMZA)
- Great question! On Wikipedia, articles that reach a high standard of quality are assessed under different levels, with Good Article (GA) and Featured Article (FA) being the top two. If you're aiming for excellence, Featured Article (FA) status is the highest recognition an article can get.
- Here are the key requirements for an article to be considered "excellent" (Featured Article criteria):
- Well-Written – The article must be clear, concise, and engaging, with a professional tone and good flow.
- Comprehensive – It should cover the topic in detail without unnecessary omissions.
- Well-Researched – Information should be backed by reliable and verifiable sources, avoiding original research.
- Neutral – The article must present a balanced view, without bias or promotional language.
- Stable – It should not be frequently edited due to ongoing disputes or instability.
- Consistently Formatted – Proper use of citations, headings, and Wikipedia’s Manual of Style.
- Illustrated (if possible) – High-quality images with appropriate copyright status can enhance the article.
- If your article meets these criteria, you can nominate it for Featured Article status through Wikipedia:Featured article candidates WP:FAC. Before that, it’s a good idea to first aim for Good Article (GA) status, which has similar but slightly less strict requirements.
- Would you like help reviewing your article against these criteria? 😊

Question from Kwakho Matinise (21:53, 8 March 2025)
[edit]Hello my name is kwakho Matinise
I want to write about two kids that were in love in a young age how do I start a story ?? --Kwakho Matinise (talk) 21:53, 8 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hello Kwakho Matinise
- Thanks for reaching out! What kind of story do you want to write here? Is it based on a film, a book, or a real-life event? Is it well-sourced, or is it your personal story?
- Wikipedia has specific guidelines on what can be published. It focuses on verifiable and reliably sourced content, meaning original or fictional stories aren't suitable for Wikipedia. However, if you're writing about a well-known story or concept related to young love, I’d be happy to guide you on how to structure it within Wikipedia’s policies.
- Let me know more details, and I'll be glad to help! 😊 Ampimd (talk) 16:20, 17 March 2025 (UTC)

- Hello @Thecalmgardnr, Nice to meet you. Kindly give me more details of what exactly you want to do. Your statement isn't clear. You want to upload your own image on your user page? But what says you can't prove it? I don't understand your question. Ampimd (talk) 18:50, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
- I'll clarify sorry but yeah I'm attempting to upload an image on my user page when I fill all the details as it described it comes back with the error message:"We could not determine whether this file is suitable for Wikimedia Commons. Please only upload photos that you took yourself with your camera, or see what else is acceptable. See the guide to make sure the file is acceptable and learn how to upload it on Wikimedia Commons." However when I click the "guide" word it redirects me to the homepage. Thecalmgardnr (talk) 13:30, 16 March 2025 (UTC)
- Exactly, So did you take the picture yourself? If you want to upload an image you do it on Wikimedia Commons. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page
- However, please go through these guidelines and policies. Before you upload, ensure your image doesn't violate any of these. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Policies_and_guidelines
- Let me know if you face any challenges. Cheers. Ampimd (talk) 00:47, 18 March 2025 (UTC)

Question from Brisdaz.au (12:05, 14 March 2025)

- Brisdaz.au has since made a request at m:Steward_requests/Username_changes, ignoring the disclaimer there, "accounts with valid edits are not usurped". Cabayi (talk) 09:49, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Cabayi it said major edits and that edits was only in the talk page of yangshuo so not valid edits. Brisdaz.au (talk) 10:02, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
- Plus one on voy:Wikivoyage:Tourist office. The wording I see is valid not major. What counts as a valid edit on Wikivoyage I don't know. That's part of the reason I don't handle usurpations. We'll see what the our come to your request is soon enough. In any case, no need for an answer from Ampimd. Cabayi (talk) 10:19, 15 March 2025 (UTC)

Question from Abrarwafa on User:Abrarwafa (21:29, 18 March 2025)
[edit]Hello I can I add information about myself and about my community on Wikipedia --Abrarwafa (talk) 21:29, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @Abrarwafa
- Great question! Adding information about yourself or your community on Wikipedia comes with some important guidelines.
- Writing About Yourself
- Wikipedia strongly discourages autobiographical articles because it's hard to maintain neutrality.
- If you're notable (e.g., covered in independent, reliable sources like newspapers, books, or academic journals), someone else should ideally write about you.
- If an article about you already exists, you can suggest improvements on the article’s talk page rather than editing it directly to avoid conflicts of interest.
- Writing About Your Community
- If your community meets Wikipedia’s notability guidelines (e.g., it has significant historical, cultural, or social impact and is covered in reliable sources), then an article can be created or improved.
- Make sure to use neutral language and cite verifiable sources like news articles, books, or government records.
- Writing About Yourself
- If you’re unsure whether the topic qualifies, you can start by drafting an article in your sandbox and seeking feedback before submitting it. Let me know if you need help with sources or formatting! 😊 Ampimd (talk) 08:54, 19 March 2025 (UTC)

Question from PavelKosov99 (00:33, 30 March 2025)
[edit]Hello. I created a Wiki page of a famous professor from Azerbaijan. I wanted to upload a picture of her from the university where she works. The university website is in the public domain and has no licenses or privacy policies. It is just open-source content without any legislation. So I took an image of that person from there. I uploaded it to Wiki Commons and mentioned the university and its website as owners. However, the moderators of Wikipedia want to delete it for copyright violations. As said, the website is open-source and does not apply any copyright legislation, has no licenses, and has no privacy policy. Please could you give me some advice? What can I do in this situation? How, in this situation, can I add an image to the page I created on Wikipedia? A word from an experienced user would be really important to me in this situation. Thank you so much in advance. --PavelKosov99 (talk) 00:33, 30 March 2025 (UTC)

Hey! I just re-submitted an article and made revisions. I pressed "publish changes". Does that mean it's under review? --Play2025 (talk) 23:21, 31 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hey @Play2025,
- Great job on revising and re-submitting your article! 😊 When you press “Publish changes”, your edits are saved publicly — but if it’s a draft (in the Draft namespace), it still needs to be formally submitted for review at Articles for Creation (AfC).
- Here’s how to check:
- If the page is titled Draft:YourArticleName, look near the top — there should be a “Submit for review” button.
- If you didn’t press that button yet, your changes are saved but the draft is not yet under review.
- If you did submit it using that button, then yes — it’s now waiting for a reviewer. 🎉
- Let me know the article title if you’re unsure — I’d be happy to check or guide you further! Ampimd (talk) 22:53, 6 April 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you! The article name is Stories From My Gay Grandparents. I think it's been submitted but I'm not sure. Play2025 (talk) 14:39, 7 April 2025 (UTC)

I love cartoon --Zebrahum (talk) 15:12, 5 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @Zebrahum,
- That’s awesome to hear — cartoons are a great blend of art and storytelling! 😊
- Do you have any favourites? Or are you interested in learning how to write about cartoons on Wikipedia?
- There are lots of cartoon-related topics on Wikipedia — from specific shows and characters to the history of animation. If you’re passionate about cartoons, you can contribute by:
- Improving existing articles about shows you love,
- Creating new pages (if the topic meets Wikipedia’s notability guidelines), or
- Adding reliable sources, episode summaries, or fun facts to improve quality!
- Let me know how you’d like to get involved — I’d be happy to guide you! Ampimd (talk) 22:49, 6 April 2025 (UTC)
Can I create a page for myself --EW Choppa (talk) 22:36, 6 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @EW Choppa,
- Thanks for your question! Technically, anyone can create a page on Wikipedia, but creating a page about yourself is strongly discouraged. Here’s why:
- Neutrality matters: It’s hard to write about yourself without sounding promotional, and Wikipedia articles must be written from a neutral point of view.
- Notability is key: Wikipedia only keeps articles about people who have been covered in depth by reliable, independent sources like newspapers, books, or trusted websites. Social media and self-published content usually don't count.
- Conflict of interest: Wikipedia prefers that other editors—not the person themselves—write about someone if they meet the notability criteria.
- If you believe you're notable enough, the best path is to gather reliable sources and maybe ask another editor for help. You can also draft something in your sandbox and get feedback without publishing it right away.
- Let me know if you'd like help checking if your sources meet Wikipedia's standards! 😊 Ampimd (talk) 22:47, 6 April 2025 (UTC)

THE MIND OF A YOUNG AFRICAN BY “T.Mutsamvi “
"As an African, I've often pondered the notion that the biblical narrative might be more than just a spiritual guide – perhaps it's a coded message about Africa's destiny. What if the Exodus story symbolizes Africa's struggle for liberation from colonialism and oppression? What if the return of Christ represents a messianic figure who will free Africa from the shackles of neocolonialism?
Could it be that the era we're living in is akin to the Babylonian captivity, where Africa's wealth and resources are being exploited, and our people are suffering under the weight of external dominance? Might we be the chosen generation, tasked with reclaiming our heritage and forging a new path forward?
The Bible, rich in metaphor and allegory, invites interpretation. What if its stories and prophecies are actually veiled references to Africa's past, present, and future? What if the dominant narrative has been manipulated to serve the interests of those in power, obscuring the truth about Africa's contributions to civilization and the world?
Why do those in power impose limitations on us? Why do they resist African unity and hinder our pursuit of truth? Why do they seek to maintain control over our resources and destinies? The world's fascination with Africa is palpable, but it's time to question the motivations behind it.
As Africans, it's essential to challenge these narratives and reclaim our stories. By doing so, we might uncover a more authentic understanding of ourselves, our history, and our place in the world." --Tmutsamvi (talk) 01:28, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
Question from Gamerboykarl (10:53, 7 May 2025)
[edit]Hello. How do you create a new article? --Gamerboykarl (talk) 10:53, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @Gamerboykarl
- Great question! Creating a new article on Wikipedia is an exciting step, but it’s important to follow the right process. Here’s how to get started:
- ✅ Step 1: Make sure your topic is notable
- The subject must have significant coverage in reliable, independent sources (like newspapers, books, or academic journals).
- Self-published sources or social media usually aren't enough.
- ✅ Step 2: Create a draft
- Go to Wikipedia:Article wizard and click “Write an article”.
- This will help you create a draft in your sandbox or in the Draft namespace, where you can work on it without publishing it live yet.
- ✅ Step 3: Use proper formatting and sources
- Follow Wikipedia's style and structure (like using headings, intro paragraph, references).
- Add inline citations using the “Cite” tool or with
<ref>source here</ref>
tags.
- ✅ Step 4: Submit for review
- When your draft is ready, click “Submit for review” at the top of the page.
- A reviewer will check if it meets Wikipedia’s standards before publishing.
- Let me know your topic and I’d be happy to help you get started or review your draft! 😊 Ampimd (talk) 21:17, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- Ok. So, I already created an article titledDiary of a Minecraft Zombie'. I have submited the draft for review but got no notification( actually it was not letting me submit) I don't know why.I have also added one citation as well. Gamerboykarl (talk) 06:26, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from Gamerboykarl (13:56, 14 May 2025)
[edit]Hello. I have alreday created one article called Diary of A Minecraft Zombie. It has been sent for review but I received no notification --Gamerboykarl (talk) 13:56, 14 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @Gamerboykarl,
- Great job taking the initiative to create the article "Diary of a Minecraft Zombie" — that’s a strong start! 🎉
- If the article isn’t getting published, there are a few possible reasons:
- 🧩 Common reasons it hasn’t been accepted:
- Notability: The topic needs to have significant coverage in reliable, independent sources (e.g., book reviews in major newspapers or websites not connected to Minecraft).
- Lack of references: Articles must include verifiable citations to those sources using the
<ref>source</ref>
format or the “Cite” tool. - Style issues: Wikipedia articles need a neutral tone — not like a fan page or advertisement.
- ✅ What you can do:
- Share the exact page title (or link to the draft), and I’ll be happy to take a look.
- Consider improving the draft with more reliable references if the reviewers have given feedback.
- You’re on the right track — every editor goes through this learning curve. Keep it up! 💪 Ampimd (talk) 12:48, 15 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from Gamerboykarl (11:10, 15 May 2025)
[edit]Heelo. How do I create a citation --Gamerboykarl (talk) 11:10, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @Gamerboykarl
- Great question — adding citations is a key part of contributing to Wikipedia properly. It shows where your information comes from and helps readers trust what they’re reading.
- 🧩 If you're using Visual Editor (the one that looks like Word or Google Docs):
- Highlight the sentence you want to cite.
- Click the “Cite” button in the toolbar.
- Use “Automatic” (paste in a link) or “Manual” (fill in the details yourself).
- Click Insert — and you're done!
- 👉 Learn more here: Help:Introduction to referencing with VisualEditor
- ✍️ If you're using Source Editor (wikitext):
- Use this format:
<ref>Author, "Title", Website, Date. URL</ref>
- Example:
<ref>Jane Doe, "Review of Minecraft Books", BookReviewWeekly, 2023. https://example.com/review</ref>
- 👉 Full guide here: Help:Introduction to referencing with Wiki Markup
- You're doing a great job learning the ropes — feel free to send me your draft or a citation you're working on, and I can help check or improve it. 😊 Ampimd (talk) 12:54, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
