Well, it's an ownership swap. I just looked at the LMS (Public File) of WSJV and WHOI and the ownership swap between Gray Television/Media and the Sinclair Broadcast Group was done as of yesterday. mer764KC / Cospaw⛲️ (He/Him | 💬Talk!📦Contributions) 01:50, 4 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Follow-up on Draft:WKLR-FM (Toledo, Ohio)

[edit]

Hi Sammi Brie,

Thank you for your earlier review and feedback on Draft:WKLR-FM (Toledo, Ohio). I've since revised the article substantially — addressing reference issues, formatting, neutrality, and expanding the historical and cultural significance of WKLR-FM as a standalone urban soul station during the Civil Rights era.

All inline citations now match their listed references, and multiple reliable secondary sources are included to establish notability.

I understand there are many drafts in queue, but I’d be grateful for a second look when time allows. Thank you again for your thoughtful comments and for helping improve Wikipedia.

July 2025

[edit]

You might want to look at WNKY, as WNKY-LD was just merged into it, almost the entire article! A sloppy copy-paste merge by @GoldRomean:. Commented out for now; might want to go through it to see what stays and what goes. Mvcg66b3r (talk) 02:54, 20 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Mvcg66b3r That wasn't the best merge of all time, but GoldRomean was implementing an AfD decision. I gave it a much lighter merge. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 04:01, 20 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of WFAB

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on WFAB requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. I leave this notice as you are ranked second in authorship for the article.[1]Delete the Earth (talk) 12:36, 21 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Delete the Earth I don't think it's speedy non-notable, but it's in Puerto Rico, which is a much tougher place than the U.S. to get sourcing on broadcasting articles. I would not be opposed to redirecting to List of radio stations in U.S. territories#Puerto Rico. Note the hatnote which would need to be preserved. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 16:27, 21 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@CactusWriter If you come across those same types of dead links in U.S. broadcasting articles, it is because the long-running database system that the FCC used, called CDBS, was taken down in January. The "LMS" link that the radio station infobox probably contains is its replacement for confirming post-1980 call signs and some other things. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 16:34, 21 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Sammi Brie. I came across this article while reviewing CSD tags. Because it's a long-term article in which the old refs were removed before it was tagged, I determined speedy was unnecessary. So I removed the tag and pointed the tagger toward AFD if they really wanted to pursue the notability issue -- that's a standard practice that allows interested Wikiproject folks time to fix issues like this rather than have valid pages disappear. It is a shame that the removal of FCC database is causing so many hassles -- I imagine it's a real pain. Best of luck CactusWriter (talk) 16:50, 21 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@CactusWriter We'd partially prepared, but there are a lot of article refs like that hanging out. Luckily the way the infoboxes work, we can call that replacement in the template with almost no additions to the article. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 17:15, 21 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
So it should be a redirect but the message shouldn't be removed? How would that work? Delete the Earth (talk) 19:01, 21 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The hatnote would likely need to be a "WFAB redirects here. For..." Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 19:17, 21 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, thanks! Then I will create the redirect in some time because I'm busy right now. Delete the Earth (talk) 05:45, 22 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reply to your message RE: WKLR-FM

[edit]

@Sammi Brie Dearest Sammi, Thank you so much for your kind reply!!! Yes, I’d DEEPLY appreciate any help I can get! I do have the clippings, but I submitted them through Wikipedia’s VRT system due to copyright concerns. The archive includes material from The Blade in Toledo, OH, The News-Messenger along with FCC records. It was submitted under VRTS permission ID #2025060510000932 about one month ago. Additionally, I personally reached out to The Blade seeking permission and the executive editor granted me explicit copyright permission for use of their content related to WKLR-FM. I have the letter in writing and can forward it to you or confirm anything you’d like. Some of the material was obtained as original screenshots, not through Newspapers.com, so I’d be happy to share a few samples with you privately or help verify anything you may need. If you’d be willing to assist me on improving the article — even just point-by-point — I’d be SO GRATEFUL! I'm new to Wikipedia writing and it is a bit Overwhelming to say the least! This piece of Toledo’s Black radio and civil rights history really deserves to be documented properly and I’m eager to learn and do it right. Thank you again SO MUCH for reaching out! ALL the BEST!!! – Markie Mach Markie Mach (talk) 23:38, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

TV market templates

[edit]

Why did you take out the ATSC 3.0 listings? Mvcg66b3r (talk) 01:37, 26 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Mvcg66b3r It's just redundant. The cable channels generally should never have been there given the scope is broadcast stations. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 01:38, 26 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Sammi Brie Also, why did you remove the ".x" on stations that have a broadcast network on them? OWaunTon (talk) 01:45, 26 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@OWaunTon, I think it reads cleaner without it except when there are two major channel numbers (5.1, 9.1 for instance) on the same stick, which is not common. It also wasn't in my slimdown concepts. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 01:46, 26 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Sammi Brie Okay, I just want to make sure that all the templates have the same format as one another. OWaunTon (talk) 01:47, 26 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You should not remove CW cable-only and subchannels such as Roar, Dabl, Antenna TV, MeTV or else that primary (.1) on template tv stations as you did at template Greenwood MS tv. If a primary channel on tv stations (.1), just put on it. Tvstation101 (talk) 03:37, 26 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Tvstation101 My current rule of thumb is that full-power/service stations always have the .1 listed, but not LPTVs. There is some reasoning to this. A lot of LPTVs are diginet coatracks whose programming might change often or the .1 subchannel is a lower-tier service. (And most of those don't have articles anymore.) It reduces the maintenance load to not have to update that all the time. I'm finding in many of the smaller markets getting slimdowns that there is out-of-date information about LPTVs.
Also, I'm of the mindset that the WB 100+/CW Plus fake stations don't belong there. The reason relates a bit to the navbox in use. If I go from a station in a market to The CW Plus, I'm not getting back there on the navbox because otherwise that article would have a hundred navboxes. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 04:07, 26 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
And on a related note, we have to make a decision. We've been stuffing local cable channels (regional sports networks, some public access channels) into these broadcast templates for a long time. Do they really belong there? We're tackling 15+ years of scope creep in one fell swoop. It might be shocking to look back and realize we're going back to the way these templates were in the late 2000s when there weren't so many secondary subchannels on the air.
