[edit]Hi @ForsythiaJo, thank you so much for your amazing help with the draft article about Rafaela Dancygier!
It was extremely kind of you add all these helpful references to journal articles and book publications. They really improve the piece and give readers an excellent overview of Prof. Dancygier's research.
Many thanks for your time and support. Warm wishes, MassAve74 (talk) 22:59, 22 March 2025 (UTC)
- PS: @ForsythiaJo, the article on Prof. Dancygier has just been approved! Thank you very much again for helping me to improve it so much! All best, MassAve74 (talk) 00:19, 23 March 2025 (UTC)
- Of course, you're welcome! I'm glad it got approved :) Feel free to send me a message if there's other academic bios you need help with - it can be harder to find independent coverage of them in news sources, but oftentimes there's reviews of their work available through Google Scholar, which can help establish notability.
- Also welcome to Wikipedia, I see you've joined fairly recently! I'll also plug Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red if you're interested in writing more bios on women academics. It's a group trying to increase/improve coverage of women on Wikipedia, and is a great place to get feedback/help with research. There are a ton of other WikiProjects as well, but the Women in Red talk page tends to be pretty active. :) ForsythiaJo (talk) 00:58, 23 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @ForsythiaJo, thank you for your kind reply! And many thanks for telling me about [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red]]. I hadn't been aware of it and I think it's a great initiative! It's shocking that only 20% of biographies on Wikipedia are on women. I will try and do my bit to help change this. In fact, I have just come across a few more female academics who have been incredibly influential in their fields but who don't have Wikipedia entries yet: Jennifer Forestal (Loyola University Chicago), LaFleur Stephens-Dougan (Princeton), Leah Stokes (University of California), and Rocío Titiunik (Princeton). I will try and do some research on them today... Thanks again! MassAve74 (talk) 08:21, 23 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hello again @ForsythiaJo, may I ask you for your advice?
- I have now had a chance to look at the women academics I mentioned above. Unfortunately, there are hardly any secondary sources about them. This is a problem that came up yesterday: a Wikipedia Editor rejected a draft article about an academic because there aren’t enough secondary sources establishing their notability.
- However, another Wikipedian hast just alerted me to the page Wikipedia:Notability (academics). It states: "Many scientists (...) are notably influential in the world of ideas without their biographies being the subject of secondary sources. (...) Notability depends on the impact the work has had on the field of study. (...) Academics meeting any one of the following conditions (...) are notable. (...) 2. The person has received a highly prestigious academic award or honor at a national or international level" (italics/bold in original).
- Does that mean that we actually don't necessarily need secondary sources but can rely on the existence of prestigious awards to justify Wikipedia entries about academics? That would make things a lot easier. I think all the female scholars listed above received prestigious prizes for their work. I would be very grateful for any advice that you may have! MassAve74 (talk) 09:24, 23 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi again,
- Good question. I will admit I am not super familiar with this aspect of the Notability guidelines. But my understanding is yes, if the individual in question has won a highly prestigious award for their work, that would tend to indicate notability even if secondary sources are lacking. To my understanding, this generally applies only to super high level awards, either in their field or within a country (i.e. I'm thinking Nobel Prize, Pulitzer Prize, etc.). But I'm not sure what the exact line is. ForsythiaJo (talk) 23:50, 23 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @ForsythiaJo, thank you for your reply! I very much appreciate your feedback. Ok, I will keep looking for additional independent sources. The profiles of two of the female scholars I mentioned above are almost ready. Thanks again! MassAve74 (talk) 08:40, 24 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @ForsythiaJo, I hope all's well. I have just put together a new draft on another female political science professor: Draft:Amy E. Lerman. If you have a moment, would you be willing to take a look at it? MassAve74 (talk) 23:00, 24 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi again,
- I've just added some reviews of Lerman's books to the page. If you're able to access them, you could use them to add some discussion of Lerman's published work. But as it is, the draft seems to be pretty neutrally written, so in that regard it looks good. :) ForsythiaJo (talk) 02:42, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @ForsythiaJo, Thank you so much for your help! I'm glad that the draft meets neutrality standards. I really appreciate that you went out of your way to find and include these reviews of Lerman's books. In the next couple of days I'll be busy teaching, but I will have a look at these reviews afterwards. Many thanks again for your support! MassAve74 (talk) 09:19, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @ForsythiaJo, thanks again for all your support. And thank you for your advice regarding awards.
- Given that there is no Nobel Prize in Political Science, I have started going through the lists of recipients the most prestigious awards of the American Political Science Association. There are quite a few people there (especially women) who don't have entries on Wikipedia.
- The next piece I have started working on is: Draft:Kristina Miler.
- I must admit I still haven't got the hang of how to include references to publications and book reviews in proper Wikipedia fashion. Would you be willing and would you have the time to apply your Wikipedia magic?
- If you are currently too busy or not interested, however, I would, of course, completely understand. All best, MassAve74 (talk) 11:54, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @ForsythiaJo, Thank you SO much for your help with the draft on Kristina Miler. I really appreciate your support and time.
- Unfortunately, ippigott doesn't feel this draft is ready for submission, yet. I will look for some additional references/sources in the coming days.
- Thanks again! MassAve74 (talk) 10:31, 31 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @ForsythiaJo, I hope you are well. Thank you again for your help with the piece on Kristina Miler. I have found a few more sources and included them in the text.
- May I ask you for yet another favor? I have just moved the article on Prof. Miler into the main space. This is the first time I have done this. Would you be willing and have the time to check whether I have done this correctly? See: Kristina Miler

- I believe everything looks good! I've gone ahead and added an infobox for Miller, but that's not strictly required. :) ForsythiaJo (talk) 00:28, 7 April 2025 (UTC)
- You're too kind, @ForsythiaJo. Thank you so much for your reply. I appreciate that you checked this for me. The infobox looks great! Thanks a lot for adding it. All the best, MassAve74 (talk) 08:48, 7 April 2025 (UTC)
- By the way: if you can think of additional political scientists or sociologists about whom I would draft a Wikipedia entry, please let me know! MassAve74 (talk) 09:07, 7 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @ForsythiaJo, how are you doing? I hope all is well. May I ask you for your advice? I have put together a draft entry about a political scientist who has won two of the most prestigious academic awards in Political Science and Sociology. However, she is "only" an associate professor. So some of the other Wikipedians may make a fuss. Would you be willing and have the time to take a look at the draft? Can you see any way to improve it? I would be most grateful for any input that you may have. Here is the link: Draft:Prerna Singh. Take care, MassAve74 (talk) 08:53, 4 May 2025 (UTC)

Phuzekhemisi moved to draftspace
[edit]Thanks for your contributions to Phuzekhemisi. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Ednabrenze (talk) 07:38, 2 May 2025 (UTC)

I appreciate your edits and thank you but you made a mess of the titles (authors). The aim is for people to see different transliteration from Armenian in to English. You erased the names of some authors but left the names of others, and you gave an English book (Thomson - Moses of Chorene, Revised Edition, 2006) a French title? I am going to manually redo some things. User3810486 (talk) 19:10, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi there,
- If you want to maintain the differing transliterations of author names, I will not further interfere on that front. :) As for the 2006 revised version, the reference originally used listed the Armenian author with a French name, but the title itself is still in English. I'm not sure why that's the case. ForsythiaJo (talk) 19:38, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi its not interference and thank you for your help. Transliterating from different languages is very difficult. Please look at it sometimes so that everything is correct. User3810486 (talk) 20:26, 14 May 2025 (UTC)
Checking in for advice
[edit]Hi,
I am one of the student editors on Petroaesthetics and Contemporary Art of Southwest Asia and North Africa. I wanted to reach out and get your advice on editing this. Me and my group members hope to contribute to Wikipedia in a meaningful way while abiding to the policies. Admittedly, this is my first time writing an article for Wikipedia and I do not know all of the short hand. Would it be possible for you to briefly outline what needs editing so that my group can make these edits to ensure the page is up to standards?
Best,
TarynSchwartz (talk) 23:06, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi there,
- Thank you for reaching out! Here's a couple things I noticed looking at the article and deletion discussion:
- Concerns about the definition of "Petroaesthetics"; I notice someone in the deletion discussion suggested moving the article to something like "Petroleum in Middle Eastern art", which seems reasonable to me.
- The "coatrack" concern (see Wikipedia:Coatrack articles) I think would be resolved by moving the article to something like "Petroleum in art"; by tying everything under the banner of "Petroaesthetics" as a specific approach or movement, you then have to connect each work/style of work back to this movement, rather than simply explaining how each work/style deals with the theme/material of petroleum. To be clear, I think you can still discuss Petroaesthetics in a section, ie "some academics have proposed the term 'petroaesthetics' to examine how artists interact with petroleum. Professor Jane Doe suggests the definition (definition). In contrast, Professor Joe Dane defines petroaesthetics as (second definition)."
- Adding to the above, a common mistake I see is treating a Wikipedia article the same way as an essay. Of course, with an essay you're making an argument and tying in outside sources/works/etc to a central argument. On the other hand, articles should present things as they are; any analysis should be tied to outside sources, preferably experts. For example, consider the difference between (1, original research) "Following the 1930s, Syrian art began depicting increasingly more cities, due to increasing industrialization" and (2, outside analysis) "Following the 1930s, Syrian art began depicting increasingly more cities. Professor Jane Doe suggests this change was due to industrialization."
- So, make sure all your claims are backed up by sources, especially when you're dealing with any cause and effect or analysis. :)
- Specifically, I would recommend trimming the artist bios and the section on environmental activism and oil art; many of the art examples in that section do not seem directly related to oil (they are related to the larger contexts around oil production, but I think for now you should maintain a narrow focus).
- Finally, if the article does get put into draft space, please do not despair! Writing an article is hard, and writing one on an academic/complex topic is even harder. Plus, us more established editors can be tough on content. I think, all things concerned, this is a great attempt at a first article, and I hope you will all stick around here on Wikipedia :) ForsythiaJo (talk) 01:57, 14 May 2025 (UTC)

[edit] Hello, I'm Mamani1990. I noticed that you recently removed content from LGBTQ rights in Nigeria without adequately explaining why. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. - Hi,
- I'm unsure what in my edit summary was not sufficient; I stated the content had been moved. I suppose I could have specified that the content was not directly related to the purview of LGBTQ rights in Nigeria, but I thought that would be clear enough when looking at the two pages. Regardless, if you feel the content should also be included in the Rights article, I will leave that be. ForsythiaJo (talk) 01:31, 14 May 2025 (UTC)

You are invited to participate in The World Destubathon. It's currently planned for June 16-July 13, partly due to me having hayfever during that period and not wanting to run it it throughout July or August in the hotter summer and will be run then unless multiple editors object. There is currently $3338 going into it, with $500 the top prize. As 250 countries and entities is too much patrol, entries will be by user, but there is $500 going into prizes for editors covering the most countries. The article Lois Selasie Arde-Acquah has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
SUbjective writing whilst also having very little as to why she is notable.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. GarethBaloney 17:04, 4 June 2025 (UTC)

Nitrosyl tunneling in ruthenium complexes moved to draftspace
[edit]Thanks for your contributions to Nitrosyl tunneling in ruthenium complexes. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and it has too many problems of language or grammar. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Ldm1954 (talk) 10:39, 13 June 2025 (UTC)
Trans Kids Deserve Better removal from category
[edit]Hey there, I was on the TKDB page to add a logo, and noticed you removed them from the category "LGBT Organisations" in this edit:https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Trans_Kids_Deserve_Better&oldid=1294460436. What was the reasoning behind this? (Arachnid's userpage | what did I do now) 11:55, 14 June 2025 (UTC)
- The organization is already included in two subcategories of LGBT organizations (trans organizations in the uk and lgbtq political advocacy groups in the uk), so including them in the parent category is unnecessary. :) ForsythiaJo (talk) 14:28, 14 June 2025 (UTC)

Leyeles
[edit]Hi, thanks for your addition to the Leyeles article. Was that something you had planned to work on and had the source saved? Feel free to expand it further! Also, I wanted to mention that there is a template {{icon|start}}
etc, which produces the assessment buttons. A lot easier than copying or using the File function. :) Metallurgist (talk) 18:25, 11 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hi there! I had not necessarily planned on working on the Leyeles article further, as I just came across it while checking out the New Pages feed, but I can keep an eye on it in case I am inspired. :) I think more of his works are available through the Yiddish Book Center website, but I didn't get around to adding those.
- Are you planning to start an article on the In-Zikh/Introspectivism movement? I don't have much experience with literary topics/Yiddish literature, but would be down to help expand/start that article.
- Also thank you for the shortcut - I will have to try it out. ForsythiaJo (talk) 19:45, 11 July 2025 (UTC)
- Ah ok, that makes sense. Im always intrigued by which of my new pages get additions and which dont. In Zikh is on my list. Ive found some sources for it and there are a few links. Hopefully in the next few days. I mainly just look for red links that have sources. I just stumbled into Yiddish culturists while learning more about Yiddish.
- And as for the shortcut, find and replace in a word processor would help. Not to be patronizing, but you may not have thought of that! Metallurgist (talk) 01:38, 12 July 2025 (UTC)

Category request
[edit]- Hey ForsythiaJo, I have a new request for a new category page, it's called "Category:Books about cattle". Can you do it for me, please? 2001:569:7694:FB00:B182:44C5:458E:D9B (talk) 00:15, 18 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hi there! Which articles did you want to put in that category? If you have at least five that would fit well into that category, I could probably make it. ForsythiaJo (talk) 18:12, 18 July 2025 (UTC)
- Good news, the article page I chose for the new category book page with cattle, was "Purple Cow: Transform Your Business by Being Remarkable". Check out what I did for you! 🙂 😁 👍 📖 🐮 🐄 🐂 🌾 🥛 🍶 ❤️ 2001:569:7694:FB00:D1F3:385F:30BB:9F02 (talk) 08:13, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- I may be missing something, but it seems that Purple Cow is not actually about cattle, but about advertising. However, since we do have Category:Children's books about cattle, I have gone ahead and made the category. ForsythiaJo (talk) 21:16, 27 July 2025 (UTC)

how to save krishna sapoor page
[edit]how pls tell Trinabh2334 (talk) 16:14, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- The original page really needed to be entirely rewritten due to tonal issues. I would recommend rewriting the page with sources and submitting it through Wikipedia:Articles for creation. Make sure to use reliable sources and a neutral tone, and avoid a promotional tone. ForsythiaJo (talk) 16:18, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
