NEW - Internet personalities – or would Internet influencers be better? - or maybe Internet celebrities & influencers?
** Event #329: Internet personalitiesY
ANNOUNCEMENTS (EVENTS FACILITATED BY OTHERS)
* Celebrate Wikipedia Day on Jan 15, 2025 Y
* Participate in #1Lib1Ref Jan 15 – Feb 5, 2025 Y
@WomenArtistUpdates: The original page nos for Music and #1day1woman have been reinstated, #326 and #327 respectively. I have created shell pages for #327 and #328. Would you mind checking my progress so far? I will then put the call out for help. Many thanks in anticipation. Oronsay (talk) 01:35, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oronsay Sorry to leave you hanging (time difference). Looks lovely. I tweaked the coding on the events page to show that #day is an "initiative" as is Music. You can see what I did by looking at the diff on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Women_in_Red/events. Very minor. Another comment I have is that you might want to change the "background" of "Music" to ABCDEF as we have a tradition of making the year long events the same baby blue color year over year. That is only an atheistic comment. This is so great! --WomenArtistUpdates (talk) 17:44, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
A word of caution: If we do add an event for Internet personalities, we will need to suggest where to find reliable sources for them. My searches for refs for the Australian names returned only social media sites. Oronsay (talk) 23:37, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Following the show of interest, I've created #329 Internet personalities ready for introductory words to be added. I'm wondering whether it would be preferable to be called Internet influencers? If so, please let me know and it's an easy change to make.__Oronsay (talk) 20:33, 24 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
MSGJ I'm trying to catch up with the "new" system of creating event pages and their talkpage templates. The event page for #327, based on #293, is fine, but should there be a #327 talkpage template that looks like the one for #293? --Rosiestep (talk) 10:46, 24 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I proofread Internet Personalities, but I couldn't find the instructions on how to change the image - it is fine as it is, but if someone feels like adding a photo might be nice, maybe this one? Lajmmoore (talk) 07:10, 27 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Late question: We have been using the JL-BOT to add Did you know entries to our monthly editathons, but our our year-long initiatives #293 #1day1woman and #294 Education have been manually updated. Actually, there are zero Did you know entries listed for Education, so I've just added the BOT code to see if there have been any. Should we employ the BOT for our two year-long initiatives this year? Oronsay (talk) 19:56, 27 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
When I sort one of our geofocus redlists on the "number of links" column, a depressing number of the top ranking are usually porn stars. Do we want to focus our editors' minds on them? I'm showing my biases here, but I can't help but think there are more worthwhile contributions we could make to en.wiki. But as long as we remind our editors to skim through the highly-linked lists looking for someone who seems a real gap in en.wiki, it could be useful. PamD18:40, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@PamD: I understand the hesitation, it's something I find a bit jarring about some of the geofocused redlists as well. But there are redlists for different occupations, which by their nature would preclude these kinds of article. For example, the woman with the most interwiki links on the revolutionaries list has 8 interwiki links; there's also 10 interwiki links for the most inter-linked in economists, 6 for judges, etc. --Grnrchst (talk) 10:33, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps this could be named "Translate a popular woman"? Also, it would be good to have a redlist of women with bios on Simple English Wikipedia but not here. In both cases, the women will obviously still need to meet enwiki notability guidelines.
As per Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Women in Red#Women-related articles at AfC, suggesting that we begin a never-ending event (along the lines of #1day1woman) focused on women-related AfC articles. This will take some set-up work, but the idea is that methodical awareness of these articles and collaborative assistance with improving them will increase the possibility that the draft will make it to mainpage, and that the newbie editor will come to know they aren't alone. --Rosiestep (talk) 08:34, 3 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
NEW - Black women - 298 as go by
** Event #331: Black womenY
ANNOUNCEMENTS (EVENTS FACILITATED BY OTHERS)
* Wiki Loves Ramadan is due to begin on 25 February - a great opportunity to focus on women from Islamic history Y
INVITATION. Ditto; thanks for what you've done here, WomenArtistUpdates. I'll create the invitation. --Rosiestep (talk) 15:12, 20 January 2025 (UTC) I've drafted it. For the logo, I used the Feb 2024 one, but okay to change it if something else is more appealing or suitable for 2025. --Rosiestep (talk) 15:36, 20 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
In view of recent developments, I am happy to see that we are focusing on Black women next month. I also think it's a great icon.--Ipigott (talk) 17:08, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you all for your contributions. I've looked through everything, updated announcements, tip of the month and added a suggestion. I've also adapted the invitation along these lines. It all looks good to me but perhaps we should wait another two or three days for any further reactions or additions.--Ipigott (talk) 14:32, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
TIP OF THE MONTH:
* You can access the Wikipedia Library if you have made 500+ edits, and 6+ months editing, and 10+ edits in the last 30 days, and No active blocks Y
I have tried to create a meetup page for #332, but it needs help with "Lua" configuration, which is outside of my technical ability. --Rosiestep (talk) 21:12, 17 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I like the painter, but could the easel be taller, please? I worry about her getting back ache, but if too tricky, don't worry about changing it. Tip comment: I think it's a good idea to remind folk about the Wikipedia Library.--Oronsay (talk) 04:37, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the feedback Oronsay. She won't get a back ache. I had our bun lady painting En plein air. She is gazing into the distant landscape while sketching. Photo of Aileen Rose Dent I will, however, play around with the image after dinner. :) --WomenArtistUpdates (talk) 23:46, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
On Humaniki, I've emailed Max Klein. On metrics in the invitation, it might be useful to provide a link to our metrics page. Otherwise all looks ok to me.--Ipigott (talk) 08:52, 25 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
We ran a Women of the Arab World event in 2019 and I wondered whether it might be a nice gesture run something similar to support Wikimedians running Wiki Loves Ramadan? Ramadan starts is February, runs through March into late April, so a March focus might be nice. WLR is explicit about adding new biographies, so is a great fit for our project. Also some Muslim countries have very low proportions of biographies of women e.g. Qatar, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, so we might be able to shift the needle there too. All thoughts welcome Lajmmoore (talk) 17:21, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Could we instead add a link in the Announcements section? My thought is that if we run an event related to one religion, we should be consistent and do it for other religions, too... which could potentially fill up a year's calendar. --Rosiestep (talk) 21:09, 17 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps it would be better to move our annual Religion away from December to a neutral month (if one exists) when no specific belief system would feel ignored? Oronsay (talk) 22:18, 17 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Lajmmoore, do you want to draft a meetup page for "Women of the Arab World" or "MENA Women"? I'm sorry that I'm not capable of doing so with the new page creation technique, having jumbled the "Alphabet Run E & F" meetup page (thank you to Oronsay for the quick fixes). --Rosiestep (talk) 15:49, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
TIP OF THE MONTH:
* When creating biographies, don't forget to use Template:DEFAULTSORT. Accessible from "Wiki markup" at the foot of the page being edited, it allows categories to be listed under the subject's family name rather than their first or given name.Y
I have added content to Business and the invitation and approved the logo. I made some changes to #335 so would prefer another editor to ok it AND we need a Tip. Oronsay (talk) 03:43, 29 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
WomenArtistUpdates, I didn't lose interest. As there's been only 1 comment regarding the logo (mine), and no comments about the suggested Tip, I thought it would be good to nudge folks to review and comment. I'll give it a few more hours before I put final touches on the Invite. --Rosiestep (talk) 20:42, 25 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Rosiestep, The invitation looks good. Thank for including the "lady liberty" icon. I think you might not have gotten a response to your second request for participation (above) because it wasn't signed. I have made that mistake on several occasions :) --WomenArtistUpdates (talk) 16:44, 26 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Grnrchst and TheResilientEngineer,
You both expressed interest in having "Revolutionary women" as a topic for a meet-up. May is looking lean and I think it would be a good time to try this topic. Grnrchst indicated that they could create redlists. Could you respond to this post if you are still interested in handling creating content for a meet-up page? Thanks. Any pings of interested welcome, especially concrete ideas of how it would look. --WomenArtistUpdates (talk) 17:44, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, apologies for the late response. I've already populated redlists about revolutionaries and from Le Maitron encyclopedias, and there's also some big ones for activists, resistance fighters, trade unionists and such. Unfortunately I don't know if I'm able to help with page creation, as I've currently got my hands full with the European Destubathon and I'll be coordinating the Women in Green edit-a-thon next month. --Grnrchst (talk) 20:17, 12 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Grnrchst, Thanks for the robust revolutionary redlists! I can create the page. May we ping you for some short introductory text at the end of April after we make the page in WiR format with redlists?

** LOGO Y
** ANNOUNCEMENTS - Who are the most overlooked and interesting Women in Red? We've no idea, but we're putting together our list of the 100 most interesting women who were Women in Red. We are creating the list to celebrate 10 years of Women in Red and we hope to present it at Wikimania. So do you have a name or subject you'd like included? We are aiming for a diverse list that excludes the usual suspects of Marie Curie et al. Can you suggest a DYK hook? If you are shy about editing that page you are welcome to add ideas and comments on the talk page. Y

Thanks, WomenArtistUpdates. I would really appreciate suggestions for Tip of the Month from other contributors. Multiple suggestions would be helpful, Theu could always be used in the future. I have had to make last-minute proposals for the last two or three invitations. As for LGBTQ+, while I have little experience in this connection, in the light of recent developments in the US, this should provide an excellet opportunity to create biographies of more of those who have been notable contributors to the field.--Ipigott (talk) 11:07, 22 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the nice comments! Victuallers, You have signed up on the rota (above) to shepherd July. I created the basic pages for the month and hand it over to you for the pinging, proofing etc. Thanks! --WomenArtistUpdates (talk) 16:04, 24 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oh you deserve more nice comments then that! Oh I wasnt sure about the month. I was responding to Ian's ping. I thought I was doing the stuff at the end of July, in July... but I see there is another interpretation which is to prepare July, in June. I have been drafting the page for Kenya and created a logo. You better tell what to do and when. I reckon I'll need hand holding with the pinging... but happy to do stuff. Victuallers (talk) 22:57, 24 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Just a reminder, while feeling guilty that I never contribute myself to the admin: July starts tomorrow and the mass mailing hasn't reached me. Thanks and best wishes to all you hardworking people who keep the project on the go! PamD09:00, 30 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hello all (& appologies to people in timezones ahead of GMT) - it totally slipped my mind, and I'd missed WAU's ping. Will do it the mail out now Lajmmoore (talk) 09:15, 30 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe we should do this earlier and longer? Kenya is hosting Wikimania and it would be good to see some new articles and photos. Particularly keen on this as I try to write articles about African women and so many sources tell about her new dress, her new boy friend or latest hair-do.... and no one seems to be doing cc-by-sa images. I've joined Wikiproject Kenya ... very few members... we could make a splash? Victuallers (talk) 11:34, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Remember that its 100,000 articles on en:wiki, they may not be all WiR inspired articles but there are articles in our sister projects too. Achieving ten years is amazing, but achieving 20% is what should be carved on the milestone. Could we jointly celebrate 10 years, 400,000 biographies and 20% women .... (and note fr, de, Catalan, Utdu etc)? Victuallers (talk) 11:45, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
