Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.
Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here |

Current requests for increase in protection level
Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or, failing that, the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Reason: Persistent addition of unsourced content. Waxworker (talk) 11:29, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
Extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement. Skitash (talk) 12:36, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Ethno-nationalist POV (Bengali) pusher not abiding by WP:NOINDICSCRIPT and WP:ETHNICITY/WP:NATIONALITY policies. They used an ID yesterday [1] [2], today using IPs and a new ID for edit warring [3] [4] [5]. Fylindfotberserk (talk) 13:31, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
The same happening in:
- Mahasweta Devi - New ID edits - [6], edit war using IPs - [7] [8] [9]
- Radabinod Pal New ID edits - [10]; IP and new ID edits - [11] [12] [13].
SO a case of IP-socking as well. Requesting page protection for these two articles as well. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 13:38, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
- More edit warring using newer ID and IP socks - [14] [15] [16]. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 13:47, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
- More socking [17]. Note the newer sock ID has opened a new PP request Radabinod Pal here. -
- I see the articles being targeted by the same POV-pusher IP-range before [18] [19]. Another possible sock [20].
- Also note the IP-sock requesting page protection for Mahasweta Devi and Bijon Bhattacharya here. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 14:03, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Disruptive editing from one user:Fylindfotberserk 2603:7000:2300:1697:2C43:FFDD:F75E:1657 (talk) 13:51, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
- You are the sock puppet POV pushing ethnicity and Bengali-Assamese script in the lead/IB which is against Wikipedia guidelines and policies (WP:NOINDICSCRIPT and WP:ETHNICITY). - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 14:05, 11 May 2025 (UTC)

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent vandalism in the last few months. WiiUf🐉 13:57, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
Indefinite semi-protection: BLP policy violations – Continued BLP birth date, age vandalism see Ticket#2025051010005616. - FlightTime (open channel) 14:29, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Repeated IP disruption. Trailblazer101 (talk) 14:34, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Has been almost nothing but vandalism since last protection expired. Nswix (talk) 15:27, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Annh07 (talk) 15:59, 11 May 2025 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Vandalic edits by sock accounts. Fade258 (talk) 16:09, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
Declined – No changes to the current protection level are required at this point in time. The discussion has been closed properly, and at least one of the socks has been blocked, so there's no need for protection anymore. Nyttend (talk) 01:57, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Requesting semi-protection due to repetetive cases of vandalism. Apsa 54 (talk) 18:06, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Same IP sock who caused the last protection increase a month ago is back at disruptive editing Alawadhi3000 (talk) 18:35, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 19:10, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protected for a period of four days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. As this appears to be a single IP editor, WP:AIV may be more appropriate for the correction of vandalism issues here. However, given that this is a BLP, I've applied a short period of protection to allow a cushion to advance a better remedy. Chetsford (talk) 03:25, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Significantly concerning recent political IP vandalism; consider raising protection to edits by registered users only Chat-qui-Aboie (talk) 21:45, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: I think we've got a slow-motion edit war going on, and it's possible that the players have real-world connections to this subject. We've got a discussion going on the talk page, but I think it would actually help a lot if we could get the page SEMI'd for maybe two weeks. WhatamIdoing (talk) 21:56, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
Declined – Content dispute. Please use the article's talk page or other forms of dispute resolution. Protection would improperly favor one side in the dispute. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 00:29, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Rsjaffe, The dispute is between an IP and a new editor. Extended confirmed would stop both of them from editing, but I think semi would be enough, because that could get the IP to the talk page (they have no incentive to discuss now, and probably haven't figured out how to) as well as stop the new editor from worrying about the ongoing reverting. WhatamIdoing (talk) 01:29, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
- The protection policy guidance for administrators (Wikipedia:Protection policy#Guidance for administrators) states:
Semi-protection should not be used ... to privilege registered users over unregistered users in (valid) content disputes.
I'm not going to semi-protect the article, and extended confirmed protection seems excessive currently. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 02:05, 12 May 2025 (UTC)

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Various ip's and new accounts not adhering to NPOV. Requesting protection per BLP. Knitsey (talk) 22:00, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Per WP:PIA all articles related to the conflict should be protected by default Rainsage (talk) 23:42, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – ARBPIA. PlotinusEnjoyer (talk) 00:31, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
Temporary extended-confirmed protection: Disruptive sockpuppetry from a user who is gaming the system. Opm581 (talk | he/him) 02:34, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – From different IPs this page is being vandalized!. Aadirulez8 (talk) 04:00, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – It's time for permanent protection for this page. Nearly all of the edits to this page for a very long time now are just adding the same Kaiserreich edit which is then removed. GraziePrego (talk) 04:12, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
Pending-changes protected for a period of two years, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 04:20, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
Current requests for reduction in protection level
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Unprotection: I know it was vandalism by two accounts but No One requested indefinitely protection on this talk page at Mtattrain it was indefinitely protection by Pppery which this username violated against the rules on protection request after waited 2 days to be protected it has no expired set so I'm trying to lift the protection on this talk page cause other new username or IP address needed to edit this page for help or conversation. 68.129.82.66 (talk) 22:04, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
- Not only does this request make no sense, the fact those two accounts are globally locked as long-term crosswiki abusers justifies the indefinite semi. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 22:38, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
OK fine Jeske Couriano I'm not gonna argue with you but we will leave it to administrator. 68.129.82.66 (talk) 22:48, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
Current requests for edits to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
I would like to request that a talk page be opened on the International Court of Justice talk page with regards to editing the first sentence "The International Court of Justice (ICJ; French: Cour internationale de justice, CIJ), or colloquially the World Court, is the only international court that adjudicates general disputes between nations, and gives advisory opinions on international legal issues." Specifically in terms of dispute around the idea that it is the "only international court that adjudicates general disputes between nations" as in line with the page on international courts other international courts adjudicate general disputes, for exaple as the international court page says the Caribbean Court of Justice's subject and scope is "General disputes within the Caribbean Community" which i believe also fit this definition. Furthermore there is no source on the claim that the ICC is the "only international court that adjudicates general disputes between nations" and the ICC themselves do not claim such on any source i could find. Finally i dont think the wording of "general disputes" is specific enough to meaningfully differentiate it from other courts jurisdictions. For example, the European Court of Justice's subject matter and scope of "interpretation of European Union law" also covers disputes that could be described as general, between nations. This is my first ever contribution to Wikipedia i apologise if i got the formatting wrong. SolidarityForever113 (talk) 08:45, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
- SolidarityForever113, are you asking that we start a discussion at Talk:International Court of Justice? No worries about formatting; I just want to make sure I'm understanding you rightly. Nyttend (talk) 01:09, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
Not done because there is nothing to do, no specific proposal has been made for a change. @SolidarityForever113: The talk page Talk:International Court of Justice is not protected. You can make an edit request there. This page isn't the venue for discussions about the article. ~Anachronist (talk) 04:05, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
I would like to request the article of Pope Leo XIV, i didn't mean to add some points, but i want to develop the article in indonesian version. Kayanad (talk) 22:49, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Kayanad: Then you'd need to handle that on the relevant Wikipediae, not here. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 22:50, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
Not done. This is not an edit request. ~Anachronist (talk) 04:06, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
I would like to request the article of Pope Leo XIV, i didn't mean to add some points, but i want to develop the article in indonesian version by copy it. Kayanad (talk) 22:51, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Kayanad: See WP:Translate us. This is not something that involves the English Wikipedia all that much. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 22:53, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
Not done. This page is for proposing changes to an article on the English Wikipedia where the talk page for such an article has been protected. Such is not the case with Talk:Pope Leo XIV. ~Anachronist (talk) 04:08, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
