- In addition to (what I'm understanding to be) the WP:NATURALDAB argument presented above by @Timtrent. —Bobby Cohn 🍁 (talk) 13:42, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- It possible that there does exist a need for cleanup to be done in the mainspace around this title/redirect, but presently this disambig page isn't the best solution. Bobby Cohn 🍁 (talk) 13:44, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- User:Bobby Cohn Another editor added additional links. I will remove those. Why would we redirect to one subject noted in an entry when there are other subject with the same title? What is the beat solution? FloridaArmy (talk) 13:46, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- I've redirected Out of Bondage from the other novel about Lovelace to the section at Lovelace describing the book, which also mentions the other book, the previous target of the redirect. From there, content can be added with links to the biographer. The musical has been specified in a hatnote.
- In the future, if there are sourced mentions of the other items of the same title, then it might be time to consider the disambig page. But with just the two to consider, I think you regularly see dab pages with just two entries get PRODed all the time. Bobby Cohn 🍁 (talk) 13:54, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- User:Bobby Cohn that address two of the four subjects disambiguated. What about Out of Bondage: the Story of Elizabeth Bentley, a book by Elizabeth Bentley about the Communist underground in the United States and Out of bondage; Christ and the Indian villager by Stephen Neill (1900–1984) published in 1930? FloridaArmy (talk) 14:26, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- May be enough of a case for it then, may also be sufficiently naturally disambiguated. As I said, I'll leave it for another set of eyes. Bobby Cohn 🍁 (talk) 14:58, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- I've moved it from Draft:Out of Bondage to Draft:Out of Bondage (disambiguation) as the redirect that currently exists is likely the PTOPIC. Should the draft DAB get accepted, the hatnote presently at Linda Lovelace § Anti-pornography activism can be replaced with
{{redirect|Out of Bondage}}
which will give: Best, Bobby Cohn 🍁 (talk) 15:03, 8 May 2025 (UTC)- User:Timtrent and User:Bobby Cohn how were you able to determine that the porn star's autobiography is the primary topic? Why is it more historically significant than the autobiography written about Communist party activity in the U.S. or the missionary to India's autobiography, or the musical? FloridaArmy (talk) 17:11, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- On one hand, because that is the redirect that already exists at the location and {{db-move}}'s typical use case is for redirects occupying the name of the draft that is the same subject, so accepting to the dab name location does the least amount of changes—not that this establishes PTOPC but rather the status quo (not that there are any incoming links to worry about on-wiki)—and two because that is what I see the most on a quick search on my end. But by no means am I the final say on the decision, a RM can be opened:
- redirect at Out of Bondage → Out of Bondage (book)
- disambig at Out of Bondage (disambiguation) → Out of Bondage
- I'd be happy to file for you, let me know. Like I said, I don't know which way I lean on the draft disambig presently, so I'll leave that for another set of eyes. Bobby Cohn 🍁 (talk) 17:48, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- User:Bobby Cohn you declined the disambig page and then moved it to a new name and reworked it to promote the porn star's autobiography as the primary topic. Since you are unsure about what the primary topic is or isn't, maybe you could move it back to the original title and restore the porn star's autobiography as one of those listed instead of the primary topic? My searches and research indicate that the other subjects are significantly more notable than Lovelace's autobiography. That's why I submitted it the way I did. Thanks for your kind consideration and discussion. FloridaArmy (talk) 17:54, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

Thanks for your kind consideration and discussion. FloridaArmy (talk) 17:54, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- I have no horse in that particular race. I had no idea a porn star was involved. 🇵🇸🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦🇵🇸 18:30, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- User:Timtrent and User:Bobby Cohn how were you able to determine that the porn star's autobiography is the primary topic? Why is it more historically significant than the autobiography written about Communist party activity in the U.S. or the missionary to India's autobiography, or the musical? FloridaArmy (talk) 17:11, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- I've moved it from Draft:Out of Bondage to Draft:Out of Bondage (disambiguation) as the redirect that currently exists is likely the PTOPIC. Should the draft DAB get accepted, the hatnote presently at Linda Lovelace § Anti-pornography activism can be replaced with
- May be enough of a case for it then, may also be sufficiently naturally disambiguated. As I said, I'll leave it for another set of eyes. Bobby Cohn 🍁 (talk) 14:58, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- User:Bobby Cohn Another editor added additional links. I will remove those. Why would we redirect to one subject noted in an entry when there are other subject with the same title? What is the beat solution? FloridaArmy (talk) 13:46, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

- User:Timtrent I am not understanding your logic. Can you please explain? Out of Bondage currently redirects to an entry that notes Linda Lovelace's autobiography but there are several other subjects titled Out of Bondage including a musical that Sam Lucas and others starred in. I am not comprehending you objection to disambiguating. FloridaArmy (talk) 10:30, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- The articles you disambiguate between are not sharing the name "out of Bondage" thus they are already disambiguated and thus this disambig page has no pur[ose 🇵🇸🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦🇵🇸 13:26, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- User:Timtrent the current redirect doesn't point to an article titled Out of Bondage and there are several subjects that share that title including the musical as I have noted so a disambig is needed. There are more than one subject of that title and the autobiography is only one of them and not an existing entry. FloridaArmy (talk) 13:33, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

- Then Robert Russa Moton Museum should be the redirect target as a {{R from former name}} and if needed, a hat note leading to Robert Russa Moton#Legacy and honors at the top of the page. A dab page isn't really necessary because there is only one notable entry on the page. It doesn't aid in navigation as there is only one real article that it is disambiguating. cyberdog958Talk 01:38, 13 May 2025 (UTC)

- There seems to be confusion on whether this would be a legit disambiguation page or not. I'm not entirely sure of the answer, but my gut tells me this should be OK. Rather than a continued back and forth with the AFC reviewers, maybe ask at WT:WPDIS? They should know better than you, me, or the AFC folks. --Floquenbeam (talk) 19:24, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
- User:Floquenbeam yes, the experience of trying to disambiguate that subject name has not been encouraging including being attacked for raising the issue on the AfC noticeboard following User:Timtrent's suggestion to do so above. I fear if I raise it at another board I might be tarred and feathers. I don't understand the confusion, several books and a show share the subject name which is what disambiguation pages are for. Hopefully we'll get there eventually. Take care. FloridaArmy (talk) 12:30, 14 May 2025 (UTC)

AfC notification: Draft:The Fighting Kentuckians has a new comment

- I responded there. I've often come across people telling me an entry should be about a book and not the person, or the person and not their work. If both subjects are missing it seems to me a step forward to include them either way rather than get bogged down with doing it one way or the other. In this case it's whether the entry should be about the book or the movie. I think the movie is more notable so that's why I wrote the entry about the movie. It's not unreasonable for someone to argue it should be about the book while noting the movie. Notable author, notable cast and director, it seems to me the film is worth including one way or the other. FloridaArmy (talk) 00:33, 15 May 2025 (UTC)

- Okay, no worries. Thanks for taking the time to review entries, especially mine, and for being open to discussing the issues User:Bobby Cohn and User:Timtrent. User:Timtrent I used the link you gave and didn't realize that page was where I was supposed to post and not the talk page. I haven't had much experience there. Thanks again. Take care. Happy editing.
- Having the disambig page be the main page is my preference, but I don't want to ruffle any more feathers. It can be a bit frustrating and exhausting honestly. Once the show has an entry, I started a draft on it but who knows when it will get worked up enough, that will be another step forward. It's discussed as the first show with an African American cast although I am always wary of such claims and wasn't there a whole theater in New York that was earlier? Maybe the first written for a black cast? Anyway, thanks again. The draft is Draft:Out of Bondage (musical). Oh and I almost forgot, Draft:Robert Russa Moton High School is another disambig page that is being objected to but the alternative (redirecting to the person the schools are named for (including the National Landmark Robert Russa Moton High School) that is being proposed as the preferred alternative does not seem like the right outcome to me. Anyway, happy adventures. FloridaArmy (talk) 00:09, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
- I moved the page to include (disambiguation) which can be linked from atop the most notable of the schools, as per above discussion, so maybe that will help. FloridaArmy (talk) 00:36, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
- You can see I wavered ([1] [2] [3] [4] [5]) because of the partial matches again but yeah there's at least an argument there. Cheers, Bobby Cohn 🍁 (talk) 13:23, 15 May 2025 (UTC)

Hatnotes
Hello Florida Army - you've been busy! I note you added text that looks like a hatnote at Borrowing Trouble. A correct hatnote would follow the standards at WP:HATNOTE and use {{distinguish}} (it's important because properly formatted hatnotes display differently on mobile devices). The other problem here, though, is there's no mention at the target Selig Polyscope Company. One way I've used in the past is to use a footnote in the lead to contain the text "Not to be confused with ..." but that ought to have a citation to a source if it's not mentioned anywhere else. I hope that helps, Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 07:33, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi User:Shhhnotsoloud. Noting an earlier film from a major studio had the same title seem worthwhile to me. I note your point about the earlier movie not being noted in the studio's entry. Is it noted in the director or star's? Is there a filmography list for the studio? Removing the hatnote and making it hidden is not an improvement. Happy editing.
