I have a considerable amount of edits to make to my Wikipedia page. Is there a quick way to incorporate the changes? --Wottle1443 (talk) 20:17, 7 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Wottle1443: Outside of some automated tools that require permission to use, there isn’t really a way to automate edits the way you say unless you create a bot. cyberdog958Talk 00:29, 12 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from SuperMimi73 (19:51, 10 July 2025)

[edit]

Hi ! Am I allowed to create pages about numbers ? To show their properties ? I already created the following pages : - 377 (number) - 610 (number) - 987 (number) Those contain some of basic informations about numbers (if they're primes or composite, if they're even or odd, if they're part of the Fibonacci sequence, etc) and, I know it could be improved by adding non-mathematical context, but I'm better at mathematical context, so I created them like that, so if anyone want to add more detailed information they can do it.

So yeah, can I do that ? --SuperMimi (talk) 19:51, 10 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@SuperMimi: I know this reply is a little late, but you can read the notability guideline about articles about numbers here. cyberdog958Talk 00:18, 22 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Quartz0709 (11:14, 11 July 2025)

[edit]

Can we count AI chat like ChatGPT as a good tool to find source for editing Wikipedia page? --Quartz0709 (talk) 11:14, 11 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Quartz0709: Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. The use of AI is controversial here on Wikipedia and many editors discourage their use. You can look at this section of an essay to see some general usage guidelines you can follow. I can say that copy-pasting raw text from an AI engine is often very unproductive and a lot of editors will revert it because often AI output can have hallucinations and general fabricated text that the engine presents as facts. You can read a myriad of discussions about the use of AI here, but gist is that the use of AI is not recommended for most applications. You can, however, use AI to generate a general outline or to help gather sources that you can then manually research and write text yourself. I think it is a lot like the feelings towards Wikipedia itself, whereas the information it contains should not be considered reliable or truthful, but it is useful as a resource to find sources that are reliable and where to find more information related to the subject you are interested in. cyberdog958Talk 00:16, 22 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Administrator Elections | Discussion phase

[edit]
Administrator Elections | Discussion phase

The discussion phase of the July 2025 administrator elections is officially open. As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:

  • July 18–22 - Discussion phase (we are here)
  • July 23–29 - SecurePoll voting phase
  • July 30–c. Aug 3 - Scrutineering phase

We are currently in the discussion phase. The candidate subpages are open to questions and comments from everyone, in the same style as a request for adminship. You may discuss the candidates at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/July 2025/Discussion phase.

On July 23, we will start the voting phase. The candidate subpages will close again to public questions and discussion, and everyone will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote totals cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's totals during the election. You must be extended confirmed to vote.

Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which will last approximately four days, or perhaps a little longer. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the results page (you may want to watchlist this page) and transcluded to the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, a candidate must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support + Oppose), and must also have received a minimum of 20 support votes. Because this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("crat chats").

Any questions or issues can be asked on the election talk page. Thank you for your participation. Happy electing.

Administrator Elections | Voting phase

The voting phase of the July 2025 administrator elections has started and continues until July 29 at 23:59 UTC. You can participate in the voting phase at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/July 2025/Voting phase.

As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:

  • July 23–29 – Voting phase
  • July 30–c. Aug 3 – Scrutineering phase

In the voting phase, the candidate subpages will close to public questions and discussion, and everyone who qualifies to vote will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote totals cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's vote total during the election. The suffrage requirements are similar to those at RFA.

Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which will last for approximately four days, perhaps longer. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the results page (this is a good page to watchlist), and transcluded to the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, a candidate must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support + Oppose), and a minimum of 20 support votes. Because this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("crat chats").

Any questions or issues can be asked on the election talk page. Thank you for your participation. Happy electing.

Question from Bibilovealways (18:59, 25 July 2025)

[edit]

I need some help - I updated the Full Blown Entertainment page on wiki and was sent a page saying that there is a conflict of interest. What can I do to mitigate this? I was updating the group (FBE) summary and photos... --Bibilovealways (talk) 18:59, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Bibilovealways: Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. The changes you made to the page make it seem like you have a conflict-of-interest with the subject with the page. The changes in prose you made are very promotional in tone with peacock words. The photos you uploaded are professionally photographed, and typically only someone with a conflict-of-interest would have access to such photos. Also, you removing the tags at the top of the page, including a COI tag, all makes you edits look very promotional in nature. If you do have a conflict-of-interest, you have to disclose it on your user page. If you are being paid for your edits to Wikipedia, you must declare your employer per the Terms of Service. If you have any other questions, you can ask me here or over at the Teahouse. If you have any more questions specifically about having a conflict-of-interest, you can also bring it up at the notice board for conflict-of-interests. cyberdog958Talk 13:31, 26 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ok so if I declare a conflict of interest I should be able to make the edits freely? Bibilovealways (talk) 22:41, 26 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Bibilovealways: No, COI editing directly is still strongly discouraged. You should make your edit suggestions on the talk page using the Edit Request wizard. All your suggested edits still have to comply with sourcing requirements and verifiability. You can see a good guide here. cyberdog958Talk 22:47, 26 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ok gotcha - I've suggested an edit to the 1st para with the list of artistes on the Talk page - what happens now? Will it be reviewed? Apologies for all the questions. Bibilovealways (talk) 23:15, 26 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Mak Marie (13:49, 27 July 2025)

[edit]

how do I make my sandbox article public? when I search Mak Marie on google the wikipedia page I created does not show up. --Mak Marie (talk) 13:49, 27 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

To be indexed on search indexes, your sandbox should be moved to article space ('mainspace') and either be patrolled or survive there for 90 days. It looks like your submission to AfC was declined due to notability concerns. Also, it looks like you have made an autobiography You should review the notability guidelines for musicians, the conflict of interest guideline, and this essay that discusses how having an autobiography here can backfire. If you still want an autobiography and meet the notability requirements, find reliable sources to support the notability and provide verification for information. From there, your best bet is to delete the existing contents and start over, sticking entirely to what the sources say. The current content has tonal issues, and it is easier to get sources and write from them than writing whatever and then trying to source it. Once you have fixed the problems, you can resubmit it.
