Overall: @Ippantekina: Article is new enough (moved to mainspace on 6/4), long enough, and a QPQ has been done. My only concern is the hook - the article doesn't mention the song being "dedicated" to Ethel Kennedy, only that it was inspired by her romance with RFK. Does the WSJ source say that it was dedicated to her? The article is behind a paywall and I can't access it. '''[[User:CanonNi]]''' (talk • contribs)13:59, 10 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
There were more editors supporting running the hook than opposing, but not overwhelming enough to meet consensus, so it was probably safer to just pull for workshopping than to keep it in Prep indefinitely. This does not mean that the Kennedy hook can't run (the opposition wasn't against the Kennedy angle entirely), but it would probably require rewriting to address the concerns raised. Are you open to a non-Ethel Kennedy hook then? I have a feeling that just because it's a Taylor Swift hook does not mean it automatically meets DYKINT: Tay-Tay hooks (and really music hooks in general) have underperformed in the past. @Ippantekina: Thoughts on ALT1 above? Any other hooks that you would like to propose? The more hooks that are proposed, the more likely it is that at least one will be approved. Z1720 (talk) 23:21, 19 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The Ethel Kennedy hook is the most interesting one and is cited. If this is not approved, I have no alternatives. If this is a dead-end, I would like to withdraw this nom. Ippantekina (talk) 08:49, 20 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies for intruding on this discussion. I can understand the concern about the Ethel Kennedy hook. I think that the "Ethel Kennedy fanfiction" could make the original hook more interesting. So something along the lines of: ... Taylor Swift wrote a song that a critic considered a "piece of Ethel Kennedy fanfiction"? It is just a suggestion of course, and apologies again for jumping into this discussion at random. Again, I just think the "fanfiction" angle may be something to pull some attention (and to be frank, some topics will just not interest some people and that is okay).
