The Witch (TV series)
[edit]I went ahead and published The Witch (TV series) to avoid any further delay. So I hope you don't consider this rude. I wouldn't be offended if someone did similar to a draft I marked for review for similar technical reasons. ๐ณ.๐ท๐พ๐๐ (๐๐๐๐) 23:39, 12 January 2025 (UTC)
- Hey D, sorry, but I do feel that way. I clearly marked the draft as under review, and the notice allowed for a 12-hour window for the review process. It was only less than two hours after the redirect page sharing the same article title in the mainspace was deleted before I could proceed with the review. I do not see any actual delays here, nor any urgency to move an upcoming television series to mainspace in such a short time. I even did some copyediting and expanded the article during the process, so I see no reason why this review should not be counted under my belt. If you had done so after 12 hours, I would be really grateful and have appreciated your assistance, but it is only 3:10 now. I really do not see any legitimate reason for this to happen. Please avoid taking over others' reviews until the 12-hour period has ended. โPrince of Erebor๏ผThe Book of Mazarbul๏ผ 03:10, 13 January 2025 (UTC)

Need Help With An Article
[edit]Hi Prince Erebor, I hope youโre doing well. I really appreciate the review you wrote on the article I submitted. From your feedback, it seems the main issue with the article is the references Iโve included. Most of the sources I was able to find relevant to the subject are from Baidu Baike. Iโll work on finding more reliable and diverse sources to improve the article. I would truly appreciate your assistance and guidance in making it strong enough for publication. Thank you so much for your time and support! CHIBEZA17 (talk) 10:13, 13 January 2025 (UTC)
- Hey CHIBEZA17, that is right. Most of the sources currently in the draft are either primary sources related to the awards or companies associated with the topic, or they come from Baidu Baike, which is not a reliable source. You might try looking for news articles or book coverage on the subject. Feel free to reach out to me here once you have completed the rewrite. I would be happy to take a look. โPrince of Erebor๏ผThe Book of Mazarbul๏ผ 16:24, 13 January 2025 (UTC)
- Hey Prince of Erebor, i have made the edits to the article, if you have the time you can review the draft. will very much appreciate your feedback. CHIBEZA17 (talk) 13:25, 20 January 2025 (UTC)
- Hi CHIBEZA17, I took a look at the first ten sources of the article, and I do not believe the issues with the previous nomination have been resolved. All sources except for source 2 focus on Duan's company or the awards she received, with minimal mention of her, while Source 2 is an WP:INTERVIEW. Besides, much of the article is unsourced. (Please see WP:INLINE) If these are the best media coverage available for the subject, I am concerned that she may not have enough notability for a Wikipedia article at this time. โPrince of Erebor๏ผThe Book of Mazarbul๏ผ 14:03, 20 January 2025 (UTC)

Draft:Nana (entertainer, born 2001)
[edit]Could you please review this: Draft:Nana (entertainer, born 2001) Btspurplegalaxy ๐ฌ ๐๏ธ 07:46, 31 January 2025 (UTC)
- Hey Btspurplegalaxy, I believe this is the first time we have a conversation, so nice to meet you! I reviewed the article and have some reservations about whether the subject currently has enough individual notability for a standalone article. She has not made her solo debut, and her appearances on television shows like Queendom Puzzle are alongside her groupmates, which does not demonstrate sufficient individual notability. I know she has appeared in a couple of web series, but none of those have standalone articles at this time, which might suggest only a very marginal pass on notability. But since she has not made any additional appearances since the article's AFD in September 2024, which resulted in a redirect, and given that the consensus during that discussion was that her appearances were still insufficient for individual notability, I am afraid there are not enough new individual activities to override that conclusion just yet. I would be happy to accept the draft if she releases a solo single or appears in a few more notable TV series individually in the near future! Cheers and happy editing! โPrince of Erebor๏ผThe Book of Mazarbul๏ผ 08:22, 31 January 2025 (UTC)

- You are welcome, Btspurplegalaxy! I appreciate the effort you have put into this article too (as well as so many other K-pop articles). It is definitely not about your editing; the issue is with notability that traps the article in draftspace. In the meantime, perhaps we can sit back and wait for Nana to advance her own career to a point where she achieves sufficient individual notability. Cheers! โPrince of Erebor๏ผThe Book of Mazarbul๏ผ 14:05, 1 February 2025 (UTC)

Renaming an article
[edit]Hello Prince of Erebor, thank you for taking a look at and editing the article for Isaac Hong. I was just enquiring about the rename from Isaac Hong to Hong Isaac. While I understand that in traditional Korean names the family name comes first, Isaac is considered an overseas Korean meaning he follows the last name system wherein his given name comes first. This is reflected across his social media and professional platforms. While his name when written in Korean does have the family name coming first, written in English it is always Isaac Hong. Thus, I believe it would be most accurate to write his name in English as Isaac Hong and his name in Korean as ํ์ด์ญ (Hong Isaac). I was hoping to get your thoughts on this matter as you made the initial change. Thank you again for your work on the article! TheAnnaBanana (talk) 11:05, 9 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hello TheAnnaBanana!! This is a very well-composed article, and I have only made some minor edits, so you deserve the full credit for writing it and I really appreciate your work! I renamed the article in accordance with WP:COMMONNAME, which states that article titles should choose the name most commonly used by reliable sources. (
it generally prefers the name that is most commonly used (as determined by its prevalence in a significant majority of independent, reliable, English-language sources)
From what I gathered in the article and through a search on Google News, it seems that most sources use the surname-name order "Hong Isaac", including reputable South Korean outlets like The Korea Times[1], JoongAng Daily[2], and Maeil Business Newspaper[3]. - In my review of the first five pages of results for "Isaac Hong" on Google News, I found that most either still used "Hong Isaac" or came from unreliable sources, with no English reliable sources using "Isaac Hong". Please correct me if I am wrong, but it appears that the subject's Instagram account also follows the surname-name order. (I believe this is Hong's official account[4].) While I noticed a couple of sources you included use "Isaac Hong" (like Halsug and Hype), and it is true that Hong's YouTube channel uses that name, they seem to be among the few supporting this naming order. So I use "Hong Isaac" as the article's title while moving it into mainspace, both for Wikipedia policies and for searchability (it would be much easier for someone to find this page if they encounter "Hong Isaac" in the news or on social media). But I may be mistaken and could have overlooked some sources, so please feel free to share your thoughts if you disagree with me. โPrince of Erebor๏ผThe Book of Mazarbul๏ผ 12:45, 9 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Prince of Erebor, thank you for your comments! I am still quite new to editing and writing articles according to Wikipedia's practices, so thank you for clarifying. I also re-reviewed various sites and sources, and you are right it seems that while it tends to alternate the strongest sources use "Hong Isaac". What brought this to my attention was the artist's newest release of the single "Lovers" (which he has been promoting under "Isaac Hong"). But in all honestly if even the artist themselves is alternating, it probably is best to just go with what the bigger media outlets address him by. Thank you again for all your advice and help!!! TheAnnaBanana (talk) 21:27, 10 February 2025 (UTC)
- No worries, TheAnnaBanana! Yea, sometimes there are discrepancies in how a person's name is spelled or ordered. The article's title is usually chosen based on the naming conventions of the country (in this case, it would be Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Korean)) or the name most commonly used in reliable sources. If you encounter the same query in the future, consider checking how the person is most frequently referenced in news articles. Great job on the article and I look forward to more excellent contributions from you! Happy editing! โPrince of Erebor๏ผThe Book of Mazarbul๏ผ 11:22, 11 February 2025 (UTC)

Regarding the Draft Draft:Atom Eve (character)
[edit]I appreciate your time and feedback on my draft. I have addressed the concerns you raised and made the necessary improvements. Additionally, I have added more information to enhance the article's verifiability. Could you kindly review the draft again to see if it now meets Wikipediaโs guidelines? Iโd appreciate any further suggestions you might have. Afro ๐ขTalk! 09:36, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hey Afrowriter! I just checked the article, and the previously unsourced content has indeed been added with citations. Great job! However, I am still not convinced about the real-world notability demonstrated in the reception section. Most reviews, like those from Shacknews and Collider, seem to focus on the video game or TV series rather than the character itself. It appears that only the CBR article specifically discuss the character. However, a recent RFC discussion has labeled their articles as churnalism, which means they can be used to flesh out the article, but are unlikely to be taken into account for notability. I suggest continuing to search for more sources that specifically address the character. If the ones currently in the article are the best available, I regret to say that the subject may not have enough notability for a standalone article at this point. โโ๐PRINCE of EREBOR๐ 10:34, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- The Shark News and Collider discussed both the game and TV series, as well as the character. Nowadays, it's rare to come across articles that focus solely on a fictional character. Afro ๐ขTalk! 11:05, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- Together with the CBR source, that should be sufficient. She has been the subject of numerous discussions and is a well-known character in the Invincible universe. This character has clearly passed GNG and SIGCOV, which alone should be enough to support her notability claim.
- don't get me wrong am not trying to argue with you am just saying you cant dismiss the case that she (The Character Atom Eve)
- Has been a case of many Non trivial publications not just mentions Afro ๐ขTalk! 11:11, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Afrowriter: Yea, sources that discuss a fictional character in isolation are rare, which is why fictional biographies are usually harder to create. I do not believe there is any ambiguity regarding the Shacknews and Collider sources, that they primarily focus on the fictional works with the character being mentioned only in passing throughout the reviews. And as I mentioned, CBR has already been discredited and should not be considered in terms of notability at all. (See WP:VALNET) The three best sources currently in the article are either trivial or unreliable, so I do not find it convincing that the article meets GNG at this point and I doubt it would survive an AFD. Agree to disagree, I will pass this review on to another reviewer to see if there is a third opinion that aligns with yours. โโ๐PRINCE of EREBOR๐ 11:53, 27 February 2025 (UTC)

AfD
[edit]Hey Prince of Erebor, I hope you're doing well. I've noticed that User:Cunard hasn't been active for nearly three weeks now, and I haven't seen you around at Delsort China much lately. Some of the AfDs are at risk of getting kept or deleted entirely without a search for Chinese-language sources. I am doing my best to keep up, but I do not have the search skills of you or Cunard and my capacity to participate in AfDs is limited. If you'd consider devoting some more time to AfD, I would really appreciate it, and I'm sure the closing admins and the project as a whole would too. Toadspike [Talk] 09:44, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
- Yo Toadspike! Many apologies for my absence and for leaving you to rescue article at AFD alone. I have always appreciated your excellent efforts in participating and finding sources for all the Chinese-language AFDs! (I was not aware that Cunard has also been absent these past few weeks, I hope everything is going well for them.) I am starting to get a bit busier in real life, and the time I manage to squeeze for Wikipedia has all gone toward article creation (I am trying to nominate a couple of articles before the upcoming GA review drive). So unfortunately, I may still not be able to devote much time to AFD, but I will do my best to keep an eye on articles there. I have provided Chinese sources for two nominations, while for the Harbin Jewish Research Center, I could not find anything useful. However, I did come across an article stating that a scholar from the Center were interviewed by Der Spiegel.[5] I struggled to locate that interview piece since I do not know German, and I wonder if you might be able to find any German sources, considering you know the language. Thanks once again for your efforts in rescuing articles and for reaching out to me here! Cheers and happy editing! โ๐PRINCE of EREBOR๐ 13:22, 28 March 2025 (UTC)

- Prince of Erebor and Toadspike (talk ยท contribs), thank you so much for your hard work in rescuing articles at Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/China! When I edit Wikipedia, I prioritise monitoring the AfDs listed there as well as reviewing proposed deletions listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject China/Article alerts, Wikipedia:WikiProject Hong Kong/Article alerts, Wikipedia:WikiProject Macau/Article alerts, and Wikipedia:WikiProject Taiwan/Article alerts. Because of busyness and real-life events, I am sometimes away for a while or have very limited capacity to participate in AfDs even when I'm sporadically available. It is always good to have more editors search for sources at Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/China. In the past few years, there have been other editors active at Delsort China AfDs, but they participate much less frequently now. - Hello TwoTreesOneNest! I noticed that you have added some sources, and the article has greatly improved. That is excellent! However, most of the sources are from offline newspapers that I cannot access, and based on their titles, they do not seem to cover the subject directly but rather focus on some exhibitions the subject participated in. For example, source 3 from Seattle Post-Intelligencer appears to be about the Asian Hall of Fame, source 4 from Sing Tao Daily seems to discuss an exhibition in Beijing, and source 6 from Beijing Daily also looks like it covers a sculpture exhibition. Other sources, like 8-13, are primary sources from the exhibitions or are unreliable. The only promising sources seem to be the two Seattle Times articles (source 1 and 7), but since I cannot access them, I cannot determine if they provide significant coverage of the subject. I also did a quick Google News search for Z.Z. Wei, but nothing substantial came up. Unfortunately, I tend to suspect that there are not enough reliable sources to demonstrate the subject's notability at this point. โ๐PRINCE of EREBOR๐ 11:29, 7 April 2025 (UTC)

Your recent delection of a reference source
[edit]Hi. I came across the deletion of an "unreliable" source executed by you on the COMAC C919 English Wiki page. In general, I have no quarrel with said deletion (the source was apparently referenced to substantiate the delivery of a C919 jetliner in 2023) since there exist multiple sources, some would say too many sources, on that page which substantiate such jet deliveries. But one aspect of your action is a bit troubling to me: you apparently took this action because the partiuclar source under discussion is "blacklisted" by the "community".
I'm not familiar with the news outlet (dimsumdaily?) that published the relevant article and it's entirely possible, even likely, that it's generally an unreliable outlet; however, the article under discussion is apparently quite innocuous (just a report about the fact that a jet delivery occurred on such and such a date), and in all likelihood, dimsumdaily was simply reprinting a story that it obtained from some other outlet, with minor modifications, as many web-based news outlets are wont to do in the US and elsewhere. Under these circumstances, where a blanket ban is applied to all articles that originate from a proscribed source regardless of the accuracy of its content, a source deletion cannot but be described as censorship of the most severe kind even if the "community" had given prior approval. I know there are a whole bunch of folks on Wikipedia who go around doing such "source-policing" and that there's little that I can do about it even if I had the energy; nevertheless, I'd like you to hear from someone with a slightly different viewpoint.
I think you're likely a well-meaning and (relatively) young HongKonger who is striving for "open and free" Western social ideals, and that this, perhaps paradoxically, is what has motivated you to take actions that others may view as censorship. But as someone who lived briefly under Chiang Kai-shek, waved to Queen Elizabeth II in 1975 as a little kid while she was on her way to Government House in a franchiseless Hong Kong, who cluelessly agreed with the US media when it excoriated China in 1989, who then watched governments which I often voted for ignore voters and bomb innocents (oops collateral damage) across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East over a period of decades, I can tell you that "Western ideals" are very often selectively used by the US (my government) to blacken the reputations of its perceived enemies while a double-standard is applied (or just the ruthless application of wholesale censorship) when its own action arguably falls short (sometimes far short) of such ideals. (I don't know about British Common Law, but in the US, "selective prosecution" is considered to be a defense to criminal charges, possibly by case law). Granted, the fact that the West (and the US in particular) may be falling short of its ideals does not mean that you should curtail the rather commendable goal of building a free and open society; however, I don't think working to enforce a hard ban against a news source (which is not an out-and-out organ of a hate group like the Volkischer Beobachter) on Wikipedia is commensurate with that goal. Note that even the Nazi newspaper organ, as the official publication of the sole legal party of the Dritte Reich circa 1933, can be considered to be a "credible source" with respect to the intentions of Germany during the relevant period, using today's lingo.
I'm sorry I went on-and-on about this stemming from a simple source deletion, but this is something which has been on my mind lately. Do not feel the need to respond. if you disagree with any aspect of my sentiments then just delete this post from your talk page. You seem like a generally considerate pearson, Cheers. Spotty's Friend (talk) 02:58, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
- Spotty's Friend, thanks for sharing your views with me and I understand the perspective behind them, but I believe there has been a misunderstanding regarding the removal of Dimsum Daily. "Blacklisting" on Wikipedia means that a source is deprecated and added to the spam blacklist based on editors' consensus. It is not related to censorship or the personal opinions of individual editors. Recently, Dimsum Daily was blacklisted by the Chinese Wikipedia following thorough discussions among editors. The reasons for its blacklist include its ongoing publication of fake news (e.g., according to FactWire, they fabricated a quote from a Czech TV interview with a scientist who claimed that COVID-19 was created in an American laboratory, but this interview did not exist and the scientist denied making those statements), poor journalistic practices (e.g., they admitted to "always troll people" in one of their apology statements after publishing a misleading report), a lack of editorial independence and oversight (e.g., most contributors are students rather than professional journalists), and a controversial background (e.g., it is controlled by a marketing agency with ties to a social media influencer, raising concerns about paid advertorials). This news blog checks every box for what we would consider an unreliable source on Wikipedia, and I believe you would agree that unreliable sources should be avoided. I have also submitted a request to the English Wikipedia's spam list regarding this source, which means the blog will soon be blocked from our edit filters as well.
- Typically, editors or bots that clean up these sources will remove and replace them with a {{cn}} tag or simply delete the entire sentence citing this source. However, I wanted to preserve the content in all 161 articles that cited it, especially since Dimsum lacks original reporting and many of its articles are merely reposts of Chinese-language media in English, so there are likely better sources available and I decided to manually clean up the content, preventing it from being deleted due to lack of sourcing. You can check my editing history, it took me two days (26 to 27 May) to clean them up. In 80% of the cases (with the edit summary of "Replace Dimsum Daily with a better reliable source"), I replaced Dimsum with reliable sources listed in WP:RSP or WP:HKRS. For the remaining 20% (with the edit summary of "Remove sources from Dimsum Daily"), like Comac C919, as those articles cited another source in addition to Dimsum, so I simply removed it. Aside from Khalil Fong where I found the Dimsum source contradicting other reliable sources, not a single word of content in the other 160 articles was deleted. So I would not describe what I did as censorship, rather, I was trying my best to protect our content while adhering to our five pillars. I hope this clears up any doubts you have about the source removal. Cheers and happy editing! โ๐PRINCE of EREBOR๐ 14:24, 29 May 2025 (UTC)

The Mitchells vs. the Machines
[edit]Since you do not answer me on my talk page, I would like to clarify the reason behind your recent reverts here. For example: why do you consider this a Hong Kong film, when Hong Kong isnt even mentioned in the article? The article clearly describes it as an US production with Sony holding chinese distribution rights, which is the cloesest it comes to even mentioning Hong Kong. If you have proof, that this is indeed a Hong Kong movie, you should probably first edit the article accordingly. Thanks for your attention, and sorry if I did disturb you. Greetings, 2A02:810A:9A5:7A00:C9F6:4DBC:E8BF:A2C6 (talk) 12:25, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hello! I was not aware that you left a reply on your talk page, please ping me if you would like to receive replies from me. The Mitchells vs. the Machines is a Hong Kong-American co-production, produced by the US' Sony Pictures, Columbia Pictures, and Lord Miller Productions and Hong Kong's One Cool Films. This co-production status is well-supported by sources such as The Numbers[7], and One Cool Films's involvement is backed by sources like Screen International[8] and Variety[9]. Since you initiated the removal of categories, the burden of proof is on you. However, I appreciate you pointing out the lack of sourcing regarding the film's production country and I have added the above sources to the article. I remember this user and if I recall correctly, they changed the names of some Hongkongers in the article leads from the hyphenated format to non-hyphenated, without providing any sources to prove that the non-hyphenated version is the common name for the subjects, and I reverted those changes. I was initially a bit confused by your statement. Based on what you wrote and after reviewing some of that user's edit history, it seems that I inadvertently reverted a couple of articles where they had added non-hyphenated full legal names that originally only included the subjects' English names. I mistakenly did this as part of a batch revert, which was not my intention. You are correct that the full legal name should be included in the lead. Thanks a lot for bringing this issue to my attention and for your corrections! โ๐PRINCE of EREBOR๐ 07:37, 28 July 2025 (UTC)

Thanks for your review comment. this is my first wiki page and I really appreciate your professional advice on referencing.
Dr. Kan was a university librarian and her profile and achivements are recorded in university web pages which are being used by me.
say, [ In 2002, she was awarded the HKSAR Medal of Honour for her valuable contribution ... ] , I used a web page from HKSAR, is it good ?
I used HKU & Charles Sturt Univesity web page sources for the Biography of Dr Kan. are those sources reliable?
I would greatly appreciate it if you could point out which sources are not acceptable, so I can learn from my mistakes. Thank you!

- Hi Kuhkul, welcome to Wikipedia! Since the subject has direct ties to HKU, HKU websites would be considered non-independent primary sources in this context. To prove a subject's notability on Wikipedia, at least two reliable, independent, and secondary sources are needed. You may refer to WP:RS for further guidance on identifying reliable sources. I advise you to consider citing articles from newspapers or media outlets that cover the subject. โ๐PRINCE of EREBOR๐ 08:09, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
