Request for input: Sue Sisley article

[edit]

Hello WikiProject Biography,

I’m reaching out to request input from uninvolved editors on proposed improvements to the article on Dr. Sue Sisley. I’ve disclosed a conflict of interest and submitted suggested edits to the article’s Talk page on June 22, but haven’t received a response: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Sue_Sisley#Suggested_Edits_to_Improve_Article_Quality_and_Neutrality

The suggestions are intended to improve the article’s neutrality, completeness, and sourcing. They are supported by high-quality references, including national media coverage and peer-reviewed publications.

If any editors here could review and provide feedback, I would really appreciate your time and assistance.

Thanks so much, —User:Emfrie

Matthew Miller (Spokesperson)

[edit]

Hi editors, I'm Robin and I work for Beutler Ink. I made a request on the Matthew Miller (spokesperson) Talk page that I think addresses a significant neutrality issue in this BLP. It currently focuses solely on criticism Miller received while acting as Department of State spokesperson, but there are more reliable sources that discuss Miller that aren't represented at all. I think this lack of discussion creates a WP:PROPORTION issue. My request adds content related to other policy areas and statements Miller made sourced to reliable sources. Any feedback is appreciated! Cheers, BINK Robin (talk) 18:34, 21 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Statesman/stateswoman

[edit]

Hi, what are people's thoughts on the use of "statesman" and "stateswoman" in WP:WIKIVOICE in biographies? Recent discussions have been at Buhari and Thatcher (pinging Borgenland from those discussions). Personally I think they're more akin to WP:FANCRUFT and it might be helpful to get some higher-level consensus on this. For convenience the Cambridge Dictionary defines "statesman" as an experienced politician, especially one who is respected for making good judgments. Kowal2701 (talk) 21:17, 22 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Notified WP:POLITICS and WP:NPOVN Kowal2701 (talk) 21:22, 22 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'd say it is not a neutral description to give anyone and not precise enough. What is a "statesman"? Wikipedia defines it as "a politician or a leader in an organization", so that narrows it down to two occupations, one of which is pretty broad. Which one are they? Merriam Webster says "one versed in the principles or art of government", which could be a civil servant of some kind. Collins says "A statesman is an important and experienced male politician, especially one who is widely known and respected", which looks to be a clear venture into opinion. So I'd say "politician" is much to be preferred. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 11:54, 4 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

B-Class reassessment request: Charles Thau

[edit]

Hello, I’d like to request a reassessment of the article Charles Thau, currently rated as C-class.

The article has undergone substantial expansion and improvement, including:

  • Reliable, secondary sourcing from international and U.S. publications (e.g., *Freie Presse*, *Der Spiegel*, *The Forward*, *Military History Now*, *Milwaukee Journal*).
  • A well-organized structure with clear sectioning (Early life, Partisan activity, Red Army service, Postwar, Recognition).
  • Use of historical photographs with proper attribution.
  • Compliance with WP:NPOV and WP:V, with personal connection declared.

I believe the article now satisfies the six B-class criteria: 1. **Well-written** 2. **Verifiable** 3. **Broad in coverage** 4. **Neutral** 5. **Stable** 6. **Illustrated**

Any feedback from reviewers is welcome. Thank you! Milwaukee911 (talk) 14:50, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Requests for Lee Roberts article

[edit]

Hello! I work for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and I have added a couple edit requests to the Talk page for the article about chancellor Lee H. Roberts. I have disclosed my conflict of interest on both my profile page and the article's Talk page. Incorrect birth and death dates?
