Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Amplifyplantz33. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Chris Antonopoulos (goalkeeper), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Notice of Conflict of interest noticeboard discussion

[edit]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard regarding a possible conflict of interest incident with which you may be involved. Thank you. Raskuly (talk) 07:30, 27 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There is no conflict of interest.

[edit]

I have no conflict of interest nor am I Antonopoulos. Proceed normal operations. Amplifyplantz33 (talk) 14:24, 27 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It is not the time to "proceed normal operations". Why are you so interested in writing about Antonopoulos specifically? He is arguably one of the least notable Fort Lauderdale Strikers players without an article. It would seem more likely to write about his teammates Jorge Valenzuela and Mario Jimenez who seem to have been on the team at the same time as him, played the same position, and made many more appearances. Raskuly (talk) 22:46, 27 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your feedback on the Chris Antonopoulos article. While I value constructive criticism, I must express concern about the tone of your message, which seems inconsistent with Wikipedia's guidelines on civility and respectful communication (as outlined in Wikipedia:Civility).
Your message included a subjective comparison of Antonopoulos' notability with other players, which, while potentially helpful in identifying future topics, does not directly address whether this article meets Wikipedia's notability standards. I believe this is a misapplication of Wikipedia’s guidelines, as notability is assessed based on reliable, independent sources covering the subject, not on relative comparisons to others.
I have taken care to ensure that the article adheres to Wikipedia's guidelines, including the use of multiple reliable sources and maintaining a neutral point of view. If there are specific issues with the article that you believe do not meet these standards, I welcome your input and will work to address them appropriately.
I also plan to write about other notable figures, including Antonopoulos’ teammates, as applicable in the future. However, the focus on Antonopoulos at this time reflects his contributions to beach soccer and American soccer development. Amplifyplantz33 (talk) 23:23, 27 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am not acting uncivil and this response is a bit of a whiplash to me. I also did not say that Antonopoulos did not meet notability, in fact, I said the opposite. I mentioned Valenzuela and Jimenez as your focus on Antonopoulos in lieu of players like them appears very odd. I certainly look forward to you writing about other Strikers players than just Antonopoulos. Raskuly (talk) 23:31, 27 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your contributions to North American Sand Soccer Championships. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Information icon Please refrain from making edits generated using a large language model (an "AI chatbot" or other application using such technology) in Wikipedia pages without carefully reviewing them, such as those you made to The Paradox (band), even if you intend to fix them later. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. Many of the references you have used appear to be halluncinations; the URLS and ISBNs do not lead to the content related to the subject of the article. I suggest you put your articles through AfC but if you choose to publish articles directly, please make sure to check the references. JSFarman (talk) 21:29, 20 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the feedback. I understand the concerns regarding the use of large language model (LLM)-generated content, particularly around verifiability and notability. Going forward, I will refrain from publishing any content generated with AI tools unless I can fully verify the information and sources. I appreciate the guidance and will make use of my sandbox and the Articles for Creation process unless I'm fully confident the content meets Wikipedia's standards before placing it in the main space. If you want to practice editing, please use your sandbox. If you think a mistake was made, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. There are 30 one-edit articles almost all of which have AI hallucinations, and few of which pass notability. Too many of these have been moved to draft or nominated for deletion . Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to make unconstructive edits to Wikipedia using a large language model (an "AI chatbot" or other application using such technology), as you did at Steven D. Roper, you may be blocked from editing. Please respond to this message. You have not responded to the other four messages this month about your LLM-generated articles, which have significant problems of notability and verifiability, both of which are core Wikipedia policies. Dclemens1971 (talk) 15:02, 21 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Virtually every source you used on Steven Roper was hallucinated or fabricated. He is notable under WP:NAUTHOR but we cannot have fake sources, especially for WP:BLPs. Please stop' creating articles using AI tools. And please put your articles through WP:AFC so that you minimize the cleanup for other volunteers. Dclemens1971 (talk) 15:37, 21 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I sincerely apologize to the Wikipedia community, inlcuding to Ldm1954 and Dclemens1971, for using AI-generated content without proper verification and for my delayed response. I now fully understand the importance of verifiability and source reliability, particularly in biographical articles. My reliance on AI without sufficient fact-checking was a mistake, and I take full responsibility. It was never my intent to burden volunteers or compromise article quality. Going forward, I will not use AI tools for Wikipedia contributions and will follow proper sourcing and the AfC process when appropriate/public domain. Please take whatever actions are needed regarding the articles in question. I respect the community’s judgment and deeply regret the disruption caused. Wq4m820 (talk) 23:12, 21 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Was this apology AI-generated? (Just kidding. Glad you came around.) Rift (talk) 01:17, 22 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Wq4, thanks for acknowledging the problems and stopping with article creation for the moment. I also appreciate that you are removing fake citations and adding real ones. In order to help minimize volunteer time on cleanup, would you consider draftifying any remaining articles where you used AI to generate sources? This will give you time to work on improving the articles without having them nominated for deletion. (You can use the "move" feature under "page" at the top, then select "draft" as the name space for the article.) Please don't draftify any articles where there's already a deletion discussion going on, though. Just a thought that will give you more time and help the other volunteers on the project. Just an FYI - honorifics and infobox content

[edit]

Hi Wq4m820. Wikipedia doesn't use honorifics (such as Dr. or Judge) in article titles or in the body of articles. If you use the visual editor, the infobox fields have specific information that guide content. (For example, name is for common name, not full name, and spouses are named only if notable.) Give the manual of style a read for more details. JSFarman (talk) 00:29, 20 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

One of many articles created by Wq4m820 that consists only of LLM slop with fake sources.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

Hey Wq4m820. Thank you for adding real sources to your articles. However, you should be aiming to find one source that verifies an entire sentence, instead of adding four or five sources to a single sentence. The overciting really clutters the articles, especially in editing mode. Plus, it’s easier to verify a sentence with one source than having to look through four or five to verify the information. Cheers, JTtheOG (talk) 00:22, 25 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the heads-up, JT! I’ll keep an eye on that and aim to streamline the sourcing a bit more moving forward/on what I have done. Appreciate the note. Wq4m820 (talk) 00:52, 25 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Transfermarkt

[edit]

Since much of its content is user edited, Transfermarkt is not considered a reliable source. Please do not cite the website in articles. Thank you. Sir Sputnik (talk) 14:53, 25 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the advice. Wq4m820 (talk) 17:56, 25 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
