Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Rollback granted

[edit]

Hi TheM1sty. After reviewing your request, I have enabled rollback on your account. Please keep the following things in mind while using rollback:

  • Being granted rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle or Ultraviolet. It just adds a [Rollback] button next to a page's latest live revision - that's all. It does not grant you any additional "status" on Wikipedia, nor does it change how Wikipedia policies apply to you.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear and unambiguous cases of vandalism only. Never use rollback to revert good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war, and it should never be used in a content-related dispute to restore the page to your preferred revision. If rollback is abused or used for this purpose or any other inappropriate purpose, the rights will be revoked.
  • Use common sense. If you're not sure about something, ask!

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Aoidh (talk) 03:47, 5 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, you are getting fast!

[edit]

From one anti-vandal to another, well done on the reverting and warnings. You seem to be doing great.

It might be worth noting that Welcome templates are usually only used once the user has edited. You can see on some of the welcome templates, it says 'thank you for your contributions...'. As they haven't contributed, it is not usual to post welcome messages. This gives some information at the top of the page about it.

This isn't a big deal, it's just a reminders about using templates. I should really use them more myself!

Keep up the great work, Knitsey (talk) 19:40, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi!
Thanks, I'll take that into account in the future. TheM1sty (talk) 19:48, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

hasty warnings

[edit]

the warnings here and here may be a bit hasty. those notices are a minute apart, well before the user would have had time to see one they've been given another, and those edits aren't vandalism. disruptive? sure, a bit, but Wikipedia has a very specific definition of vandalism and its not hard to see those edits as being in misguided, but good faith. it'd be kind of you to amend the vandalism warning and try to extend an olive branch to the user, once more pointing them towards, or explaining, our policy on external links. thank you. fifteen thousand two hundred twenty four (talk) 11:32, 24 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi!
I reverted one of their edits and noticed they made another nonconstructive edit in the meantime. TheM1sty (talk) 11:34, 24 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
ok, sure, but the point of these warnings is to guide and correct, not rack up a count. giving warnings less than a minute apart isn't doing much in the way of guidance, especially if one of those warnings erroneously indicates an edit is vandalism, when it isnt. from wp:vandalism "... vandalism has a very specific meaning: editing (or other behavior) deliberately intended to obstruct or defeat the project's purpose ... Even if misguided, willfully against consensus, or disruptive, any good faith effort to improve the encyclopedia is not vandalism."
you're doing good work, just please maybe slow down a bit, we don't want to bite the newcomers, everyone should get a chance to be fairly familiarized with policy, and provided grace and opportunity to help us build an encyclopedia. thank you fifteen thousand two hundred twenty four (talk) 11:40, 24 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Also I'd appreciate if you didn't supervise me, as far as I know you aren't an admin. TheM1sty (talk) 11:39, 24 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
you are supervising others by giving warnings as well, this is a collaborative project, we communicate and give guidance to each other. i had previously warned that user and was watching their talk page, that is the only reason i saw those warnings to begin with. im not following you, it came up in my watchlist. fifteen thousand two hundred twenty four (talk) 11:41, 24 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I apologize. Happy editing! TheM1sty (talk) 11:43, 24 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hey

[edit]

Sorry for making unconstructive edits at the Phonk page, i do not want to vandalize, i just am not the best at editing. I wanted to expand the page. VladDraculaVoda1478 (talk) 12:27, 25 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi!
I seemed to have reverted your edit sense you reverted someone else's edit without an explanation. TheM1sty (talk) 12:31, 25 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting talk page blanking

[edit]

All editors, including IPs, are allowed to remove warnings from their talk page. There are only a few things editors aren't allowed to remove, see WP:BLANKING. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 01:56, 27 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi!
I'm sorry for that just seemed like something that should be prohibited.
I'll be more careful in the future, thanks! TheM1sty (talk) 14:18, 27 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Algebraic operation

[edit]

Hi! What has seemed non-constructive in my edit at algebraic operation about the derivative (as non-algebraic unary operation on algebraic expressions)? Thanks. 2A02:2F07:DE10:B400:CCBD:421A:6B2D:DBDA (talk) 07:56, 28 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi!
The derivative isn't an unary operation. TheM1sty (talk) 11:41, 28 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Are you sure? If not unary, what arity has the derivative as operation? 2A02:2F07:DE10:B400:E42B:5A5C:FD59:AC4A (talk) 10:04, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
