Yee-Yee-Ass (Gen-Z Slang Terminology)

Hi Rusty. Yeah, no I'm pretty well-versed when it comes to referencing, but I 100% expected this reversion! It's just that I saw the banner up top mentioned the entire page needed a bit of a cleanup, so I gave it a shot anyway. And unfortunately Know Your Meme apparently was deemed just as unreliable as Urban Dictionary. But KYM did have a bevy of its OWN sources, encyclopediesque (sic), so I might take a look through those later and see if any of them are Wayback Machine-archived. Google Search didn't seem to have anything major turn up other than forums and KYM/UD. Hopefully at least one of those substantiates it, because I've heard that slang in New Jersey (where I live) for nearly a decade now, haha. --Cinemaniac86TalkStalk 17:20, 9 March 2025 (UTC)

Question from Sharona0221 (14:42, 14 March 2025)

Hello, Rusty. Thank you for your warm welcome. I created an account because I was researching plants and pollens that can affect cats and dogs. As a cat owner, my cat has been severely affected by allergies since we moved. After several vet visits, we are working hard to identify the cause. While researching plants that are toxic or cause allergic reactions, I found a discussion topic that interested me. Creating an account allowed me to participate. However; now that I've done so I am unable to find the subject which i wanted to discuss. How do I get back to that page that allows to start a discussion????? I thank you in advance for your response to this. For i am very eager to get started on this! Talk soon hopefully. Sincerely,Sharona --Sharona0221 (talk) 14:42, 14 March 2025 (UTC)

Hi! There is currently a discussion at Talk:Data Protection and Digital Information Bill. It says that you are my mentor as an experienced editor. Another editor had agreed with me to rename the article, but there is one which disagreed. Please could you take a look? :) Heartofgold2025 (talk) 20:16, 13 March 2025 (UTC)Heartofgold2025 (talk · contribs) is a confirmed sock puppet of TheBishopAndHolyPrince (talk · contribs).

@Heartofgold2025: Welcome to Wikipedia! I think a move proposal is the wrong thing to do here - the others mentioned that the bill aren't identical. You might want to split the article or write a second article on DUA and mention that it is similar to DPDI. ~ Rusty meow ~ 03:40, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
Thank you. Am I able to withdraw the request to move and then make a second article on DUA? I have created a new article too on the Employment Rights Bill, which I think is quite a good attempt; I do not know whether you think too, but I am new to this. Question from Gavinkumalolegae (03:54, 18 March 2025)

Hi Rusty Yesterday I made edits to an entry for an important black South African artist Ezrom Legae. I am considered the global expert on Legae (and a fellow sculptor Sydney Kumalo) having written a 660 page Catalogue Raisonne on their sculptures which was published in 2023 after 25 years of research work. The book was published on a strictly not-for -profit basis by Strauss & Co and I receive no royalties or payments for the book whatsoever. The current Wikipedia entry for Legae is short, incomplete and full of inaccuracies. When I went on to Wikipedia this moring I found that my edited version had been removed apparently because of 'conflicts of interest' and other commercial concerns. I can send proof of the fact that I am considered the global expert on Legae (from Universities, public art galleries and art auction houses) and that I have no commercial interest in the book 'The Sculptures of Sydney Kumalo and Ezrom Legae. A Catalogue Raisonne'. Published by Strauss & Co. 2023. ISBN 978 - 0 - 6397 - 6015 - 5.

It is important to correct and update the currentinformation on Legae as he is an important South African artist and there is an important exhibition of his drawings coming uo at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta Georgia later this year. The curator Lauren Tate Baeza is very happy to confirm my credentials. Best Gavin Watkins --Gavinkumalolegae (talk) 03:54, 18 March 2025 (UTC)

@Gavinkumalolegae: Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! We consider a conflict of interest any connection, regardless of whether it is financial. The best option, to avoid getting your edits reverted, would be to discuss your proposed changes on the article's "Talk" page, accessible via the "Talk" tab in the top-right corner.

Question from Ariana Harner (14:34, 22 March 2025)

Hi, I am trying to add a citation to the reference section of an article. I get as far as the captcha, and it refreshes each time, then tells me I’ve tried too many times. I am typing in the correct captchas, so I’m puzzled. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks! --Ariana Harner (talk) 14:34, 22 March 2025 (UTC)

@Ariana Harner: Sometimes, network issues may prevent CAPTCHAs from working properly. What is the article and what source are you trying to add? ~ Rusty meow ~ 15:21, 22 March 2025 (UTC)

I am trying to add a citation: Harner, Ariana and Clark Secrest, Children of the Storm: the True Story of the Pleasant Hill School Bus Tragedy. Fulcrum, 2001 and 2024: Golden, Colo. to this entry: Pleasant Hill bus tragedy Ariana Harner (talk) 19:45, 22 March 2025 (UTC)

@Ariana Harner: Where in the article? ~ Rusty meow ~ 00:12, 23 March 2025 (UTC)

Christina Wendall

I have retrived several more sources, from reliable sources, including University of Wales Press, which talk about the character in a manner that explores its applications from a "real life" standpoint. "Christina Wendall who seeks life - experience that will secure her entry into the class - based identity of a novelist . To achieve this Bildungsroman , she chooses the werewolf in a reversal of Little Red Riding Hood when she first" I have edited those in and removed the Fandom refferences to clear up the article, hopefully it can now be published FateHum (talk) 07:54, 27 March 2025 (UTC)

yes when I get to become a registered user, and source verified and authentic information about a particular protected article, will it get accepted. Minakshi Pillai (talk) 05:29, 27 March 2025 (UTC)
@Minakshi Pillai: When you gain the ability to make the change you want, you should just be bold and add it! If someone reverts your change you can discuss with them why they did that. This is known as the bold, revert, dicuss cycle. ~ Rusty meow ~ 17:10, 27 March 2025 (UTC)

Question from JohnsonHealthTechNA (18:42, 26 March 2025)

Hi there! I'm from Johnson Health Tech (fitness equipment company) and I'd like to get some changes made to our brand pages, based on some shifts in company ownership. I have the recommended edits captured in a word doc, as well as public (linkable) proof points to back up each change. I want to make sure I'm following all of the rules. Can you help me determine what the best next steps would be? --JohnsonHealthTechNA (talk) 18:42, 26 March 2025 (UTC)

@JohnsonHealthTechNA: Welcome! We generally discourage direct edits to articles from people who have a connection or conflict of interest. You may instead make an edit request, doing so with the Edit Request Wizard. The proof points you mention may be helpful here, as the edit request will require citations to support your proposed changes.
Before you proceed, however, there are a few things you need to do. First, you must disclose your conflict of interest, including whether you are being paid or not. A sentence on your user page will be fine.
Second, you may not use a username which represents the name of a company (e.g., JohnsonHealthTechNA might be inappropriate because it represents a role, not a person). You may submit a request to change your name at Special:GlobalRenameRequest. If you don't change your username, you may be blocked from editing.
Feel free to ask if you have any questions! ~ Rusty meow ~ 21:07, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
Thank you! I'll follow these next steps before making the edit request. JohnsonHealthTechNA (talk) 18:50, 27 March 2025 (UTC)

@Adityasharma0701: Pandora is referring to the General Notability Guideline, which has a specific definition of independent, reliable sources. I cannot say how reliable the sources are, as I do not have much experience with these sources. You may wish to check out the guideline and evaluate the sources yourself. ~ Rusty meow ~ 16:16, 24 March 2025 (UTC)
Hi1 I have read the article and tried adding reliable references. Thanks! Adityasharma0701 (talk) 12:13, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
Hi! It's been a while since Pandora nominated the article for discussion but no discussion has taken place while I have made the necessary changes as well. What should I do? Thanks! Adityasharma0701 (talk) 05:25, 29 March 2025 (UTC)

Thanks for reviewing my draft of Ealing Village previously. I’ve now made substantial edits based on your feedback, including improving the sourcing, ensuring a neutral tone, and better establishing notability with independent references.

Good evening, i published a draft to be reviewed for Carlton Ubaezuonu. I spoke about it with you a few months ago. I was hoping you could look over it when you get a chance? Thank you. --Carltonuba38 (talk) 17:01, 16 April 2025 (UTC)

@Carltonuba38: Not all mentors are AfC reviewers (though I am one), nor do we have an obligation to review your draft. Also, someone else already declined it. ~ Rusty meow ~ 22:19, 16 April 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for getting back to me, I understand that, I was asking if it was possible to have a look and see. It has been republished since then with the required criteria. Are you able to have a look? Carltonuba38 (talk) 22:22, 16 April 2025 (UTC)
@Carltonuba38: Taking a quick look, the declining reviewer's points still stand. We are particularly looking for secondary sources (so sources from the football club itself for example do not count) that discuss the subject in-depth. ~ Rusty meow ~ 22:31, 16 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from President Ismail Khan (02:32, 17 April 2025)

@President Ismail Khan: You just click edit! ~ Rusty meow ~ 02:33, 17 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from Azerda (17:37, 17 April 2025)

Hello ! I am new to Wikipedia and i want to translate some articles in french (my native language). I read the instructions to do so, but i am still struggling to understand how it works and and to publish the translation. Could you help me ? --Azerda (talk) 17:37, 17 April 2025 (UTC)

@Azerda: You can start a draft for a new article at Articles for Creation. You will need to manually translate the French article into English. ~ Rusty meow ~ 01:07, 18 April 2025 (UTC)
Thank you ! Azerda (talk) 08:36, 18 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from Lemon754 (11:21, 18 April 2025)

Hello! How are you? So is it true that you need to wait 4 days, and also do 10 edits, before you can edit semi-protected pages? Don't worry, I'm not sus, just curious, because I really want to edit the page "SCP Foundation". Thank you for reading this! --Lemon754 (talk) 11:21, 18 April 2025 (UTC)

@Lemon754: Yes, your account will need to be four days old and have at least 10 edits before you can edit semi-protected pages. ~ Rusty meow ~ 14:43, 18 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from Lukas34346 (05:15, 19 April 2025)

I need some help editing 2025 in American television a page I frequent for television updates --Lukas34346 (talk) 05:15, 19 April 2025 (UTC)

@Lukas34346: Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! What help specifically do you need? ~ Rusty meow ~ 14:08, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
I need help to add a date for the return of a television series tennis on TNT I don't know where to place the date May 25th as that is the start of the French Open Lukas34346 (talk) 18:15, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
@Lukas34346: I saw that you had changed a "TBA" to "May 25" and then reverted it. Which series do you want to put the date on? ~ Rusty meow ~ 18:44, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
tennis on TNT is the show I want to put the date on Lukas34346 (talk) 19:50, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
@Lukas34346: Done! In the future, you might want to consider using the VisualEditor so you don't have to deal with the underlying code on the page. ~ Rusty meow ~ 21:47, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
I do use that sometimes to make visual edits like a recent spelling error on Saturday Night Football was fixed by me using the visual editor Lukas34346 (talk) 23:28, 19 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from Daniel Barrios Abad (07:58, 24 April 2025)

Hi! Between some of my editing interests are musical album pages. If I were to create a new page for an album, how does the copyright work with the album covers? --Daniel Barrios Abad (talk) 07:58, 24 April 2025 (UTC)

@Daniel Barrios Abad: There is an exemption from copyright known as fair use, at least in the United States (where Wikipedia servers are located). To meet Wikipedia's Wikipedia:Non-free content guideline/policy, you will need to upload the image on Wikipedia instead of to Wikimedia Commons (as one would do with free (as in libre) content). Additionally, you must provide a non-free use rationale to explain why this image is used instead of a free (as in libre) image, and what article you will use it on. Fair use images that are not used on any article, or do not have a valid rationale, will be deleted.
Happy editing! ~ Rusty meow ~ 14:54, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
Thanks a lot! Daniel Barrios Abad (talk) 15:01, 24 April 2025 (UTC)

WikiCup 2025 May newsletter

The second round of the 2025 WikiCup ended on 28 April at 23:59 UTC. To reiterate what we said in the previous newsletter, we are no longer disqualifying contestants based on how many points (now known as round points) they received. Instead, the contestants with the highest round-point totals now receive tournament points at the end of each round. These tournament points are carried over between rounds, and can only be earned if a competitor is among the top 16 round-point scorers at the end of each round. This table shows all competitors who have received tournament points so far. Everyone who competed in round 2 will advance to round 3 unless they have withdrawn or been banned.

Round 2 was quite competitive. Four contestants scored more than 1,000 round points, and eight scored more than 500 points (including one who has withdrawn). The following competitors scored at least 800 points:

In addition, we would like to recognize Generalissima (submissions) for her efforts; she scored 801 round points but withdrew before the end of the round.

The full scores for round 2 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 13 featured articles, 20 featured lists, 4 featured-topic articles, 138 good articles, 7 good-topic articles, and more than 100 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 19 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 300 reviews.

Remember that any content promoted after 28 April but before the start of Round 3 can be claimed in Round 3. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Question from Winfield Kruse (12:59, 29 April 2025)

What type of problems are on Wikipedia that I should edit? Is it mainly spelling errors, bad information, or something else? --Winfield Kruse (talk) 12:59, 29 April 2025 (UTC)

@Winfield Kruse: All of the things you mentioned could be possible issues on Wikipedia, but particularly people adding unsourced info or trying to disrupt the wiki.
How I began editing was doing "anti-vandalism": monitoring recent changes to Wikipedia and reverting those that do not meet content policies (e.g. disruptive, unsourced, etc.)
We have a task center too if you're like to check that out!
Happy editing! ~ Rusty meow ~ 14:58, 29 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from MANELLFIYO (12:33, 29 April 2025)

Hello Mentor! How are you doing today? Can you give me a small brief about Wikipedia? --MANELLFIYO (talk) 12:33, 29 April 2025 (UTC)

@MANELLFIYO: Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia that can be edited by anyone. If you're interested in editing, feel free to check out our introduction! Happy editing! ~ Rusty meow ~ 14:59, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
I wanted to publish my personal info on wikipedia. how do i go about it? MANELLFIYO (talk) 17:19, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
@MANELLFIYO:
That's not something I'd recommend. Wikipedia strongly discourages subjects writing about themselves on Wikipedia, and it could get your blocked from editing. As such, I will not be helping you with that.
If you'd like to contribute constructively to other subjects, however, I'm happy to help! ~ Rusty meow ~ 23:14, 29 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from Abhijeetk235 (10:50, 30 April 2025)

Hello I want to submit a edit request. Where should I put the reference for this. --Abhijeetk235 (talk) 10:50, 30 April 2025 (UTC)

@Abhijeetk235: It seems you submitted an edit request after you asked me. ~ Rusty meow ~ 22:08, 30 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from Animmalrightschannel (17:53, 30 April 2025)

So, mentor, I nominated Clift Schimmels for deletion. He was somebody's beloved coach, I get that. Please don't assume I haven't read any guidelines. Please also don't assume that I'm not already deeply offended by misogynistic behavior on Wikipedia. --Animmalrightschannel (talk) 17:53, 30 April 2025 (UTC)

@Animmalrightschannel: There's nothing wrong with nominating an article for deletion! Even if someone was to oppose it, that's part of the learning process. ~ Rusty meow ~ 22:13, 30 April 2025 (UTC)
