The suspected copy and paste article
[edit]I don't know where to take this, but I want to address your request to merge 2020 Bassfield–Soso tornado with a draft version of the tornado from a different user named Nicholas Krasznavolgyi. No I didn't copy and paste the draft to my article. All my articles start from scratch mainly in my sandbox. The only thing that was copied was the meteorological synopsis, but that was from the 2020 Easter tornado outbreak. Another thing to point out is the fact the draft is an exact copy of the tornado's section in 2020 Easter tornado outbreak. Here's proof. https://copyvios.toolforge.org/?lang=en&project=wikipedia&title=Draft%3A2020+Bassfield-Soso+tornado&oldid=&use_engine=0&use_links=0&turnitin=0&action=compare&url=https%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2F2020_Easter_tornado_outbreak Hoguert (talk) 19:53, 1 May 2025 (UTC)
- I'm trying to figure out where the material came from. I made assumptions. The draft predated the article you started. Maybe both came from 2020 Easter tornado outbreak which predates both. ~Kvng (talk) 20:29, 1 May 2025 (UTC)
- But like what I said, my article is completely different from the draft and main article. Besides the meteorological synopsis and similar image usage and placement, there's no similarity between my article, the main Easter outbreak article, and the draft. Hoguert (talk) 20:38, 1 May 2025 (UTC)

List of The Clique characters
[edit]Hi there - I see you deleted the PROD for this article. I agree it's a good idea to redirect it to The Clique (series). I've never done this before, but happy to give it a go. Blackballnz (talk) 03:40, 4 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Blackballnz, here's a quick description of redirects and how to set them up: Wikipedia:Redirect maker. Here's some specific information about replacing an existing article with a redirect as you propose to do here: Wikipedia:Redirect#Redirects_that_replace_previous_articles. Let me know if you have any questions. ~Kvng (talk) 14:11, 4 May 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks - do I need to put on the talk page to discuss, or anything like that? Blackballnz (talk) 06:16, 5 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Blackballnz, You are welcome to do this WP:BOLDLY. If another editor doesn't like it, they may WP:REVERT the redirect and you can discuss it on that talk page at that point, see WP:BRD. ~Kvng (talk) 11:38, 5 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Kvng
- Thanks for your help.
- I tried to do it, but got this msg: You can't make a redirect here, because this page already exists. I'm not sure what to do now, but I'd like to learn as I've spotted a couple of other articles that should be redirected.
- Thanks Blackballnz (talk) 08:49, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Blackballnz, yes, that's expected as we're replacing an article with a redirect, not creating a new redirect. This is described at Wikipedia:Redirect#Redirects_that_replace_previous_articles. What you want to do is edit List of The Clique characters and replace all the content there with the redirect statement: #REDIRECT The Clique (series) or even better #REDIRECT The Clique (series)#Characters to lead readers directly to the Characters section. ~Kvng (talk) 13:48, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for your help. I've done it & it was much easier than I thought it would be. Blackballnz (talk) 08:21, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

Advice request: Article deletion
[edit]Hi Kvng,
I hope you're well! wanted to ask you if you could help me with requesting the undeletion of an article I made. You can find the discussion here 1, here is the alert I received on my talk page. Am I supposed to use this or this?
I understand the reasons as to why the article was deleted in the first place, although I'd have preferred for it to be moved to my personal space for me to keep working on it. However as you will see, those reasons do not apply to the most recent version that I created before it was deleted again. Waiting for your advice <3
Thank you for your time! Pincermitosis (talk) 09:24, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, I've created a draft of an article but had to move it from sandbox to draft mode to get it reviewed. And can now no longer view the option to have it reviewed! Would you mind checking it and advising if or how it's ready to be moved into a 'real' article? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:TotalMerchandise Thanks in advance for your help. --Spring-showers-123 (talk) 12:01, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

[edit]Hello Kvng. I saw your name on the list of participants in Project Systems, and would very much appreciate your review of my suggested changes and updates to the Cohere article. Specifically, I am looking to remove outdated HQs and restructure some of the content. As I am new to this platform, I understand that my declared affiliation with Cohere means I am not meant to make these kinds of substantial changes to the article on my own; with your approval, I'd be happy to implement. uhh, question
[edit]Hey, uh, I was wondering how I would still argue to rename a page after the conversation has been closed? Before I made my account, I never really edited much as I was scared of people seeing my IP address. For example, say after the 2025 India-Pakistan strikes page was renamed, it got protected so lower-class new editors couldn't do anything but suggest edits; but I still kinda wanted to vouch for it being named 'Operations Sindoor and Bunyan al-Marsus' yet I still don't know if it's necessary to, as the original merge/rename discussion got closed by some random admins or something? How would I go blahblahblah on the talk page? Just a new section or wha?? Simply asking. --Shahshagoose (talk) 23:55, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
- It looks like there was a good consensus for the current name at Talk:2025_India–Pakistan_conflict#Requested_move_7_May_2025_(2). I doubt throwing a new option into the discussion would have changed the outcome. With a clear consensus like this, immediately asking the editors to consider a new title suggestion is not going to earn you any respect unless you have significant new information that wasn't considered in the previous discussion. ~Kvng (talk) 00:09, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Shahshagoose, forgot to WP:PING ~Kvng (talk) 00:10, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
COI on page you draft objected
[edit]You moved a page out of draft space that I had draftified because of a COI concern. You said there was no evidence of the COI but this places me in a quandary. There is, in fact, clear evidence that the creator of the page has a COI - but if I bring that evidence, I will be linking a user with a real name. It is not hard to investigate this, mind. But to avoid outing, how should we proceed at AfD? Thanks. Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 16:36, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Sirfurboy the solution to a COI problem is not deletion but improving the article to eliminate the COI. In the meantime there should be a COI banner on the article. ~Kvng (talk) 17:03, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
- I have previously tried to find sources for the article and came up rather short, which is why I added the notability banner too. The title of the programme is so generic that searching is extremely hard, but it is basically a school behavioural policy copied by some others, but not written about, as far as I could tell. There is a local news documentary about parents objecting to it. That is the closest we have to secondary sourcing. So AFD may be necessary to test the notability for an article, unless it is mergeable somewhere, in which case a merge discussion may be better. Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 17:35, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Sirfurboy, thanks for the background. To answer your original question then, if you want to send it to AFD, you don't need to mention the COI. ~Kvng (talk) 17:39, 12 May 2025 (UTC)

DePROD rules of thumb
[edit]I generally appreciate your efforts to restrain rampant deletionism. In the case of Bashir Uddin Adarsha School and College, however, the usefulness of "numerous incoming links" as a metric to gauge potential importance is limited because editors create navigation templates like Colleges in Dhaka. If they spread that around to the 120+ schools and colleges linked from the template, they can make every member look important even if the member is never mentioned in the text of any other article. Do you know any simple way to cut through the template-link cruft to get a truer picture of meaningful connectedness? --Worldbruce (talk) 18:30, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Worldbruce, I don't know a way to separate template links from other mainspace links. I could ask around. In the past I would not usually deprod in these instances but I've recently been deprodding these on a trial basis to see what sort of feedback and AfD results we get. The jury's still out on it but your feedback is helpful. ~Kvng (talk) 19:12, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
Delaying CSD G13s
[edit]Hello, Kvng,
When I first began reviewing aging draft articles that were headed toward "expiration" (CSD G13) in fall 2020, I use to delay deleting draft articles that I thought were interesting or had potential. Then, for 99% of those drafts, I'd see them come around again in another six months, then I'd delay them a second time and see them in another 6 months and so on and so on.
I discovered that it is truly rare for an experienced content writing editor to go into Draft space and work on improving other editors' drafts. So, now, unless there is an unusual case (like Don Cram drafts), I don't postpone deleting CSD G13 draft articles any more unless I plan on working and improving them myself or I know that the draft creator will be returning to them (like Thriley or Florida Army). Otherwise, it is just delaying deletions for those six months until they become eligible again. So, while I appreciate your attitude towards PRODs and expiring draft articles, I'd recommend passing on postponing their deletion unless you plan on spending time on them. Of course, how you spend your time on this project is up to you, I've just been seeing more postponed drafts so I thought I'd drop you a note, both of thanks and of reporting how I handled this issue years ago. Thanks again for all of your contributions. Liz Read! Talk! 23:01, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
- Nice to hear from you again. I have been trying a variety of things with these drafts to see what may be helpful. I won't keep doing things that are not getting results because that is WP:DISRUPTIVE. ~Kvng (talk) 15:06, 14 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from LouiseCS1979 (14:23, 19 May 2025)
[edit]Hi there. I have an article I would like to create and submit. Please could you share the approval/publishing process and potential timelines? Thank you --LouiseCS1979 (talk) 14:23, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
- @LouiseCS1979, since your account is new, before you can directly create an article spend the modest time and effort required to achieve WP:AUTOCONFIRMED status. Once you're autoconfirmed, you can immediately publish a new article. If you've done a bad job, there's a good chance, however, that someone else will quickly delete it. Alternatively, you can use the WP:AFC process to submit a draft article at any time. Approval through AFC can take months but more likely it will be declined quickly. Please read Help:Your first article to get an understanding of what you're up against. I definitely recommend you spend some time working on existing articles before trying to create a new one. ~Kvng (talk) 14:31, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
Articles for Creation backlog drive
[edit]
Hello Kvng:
WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive in June!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than 1 month of outstanding reviews from the current 3+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 June 2025 through 30 June 2025.
You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.
Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.
There is a backlog of over 3200 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:25, 20 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from I2econsultingWiki (11:52, 23 May 2025)
[edit]We are trying to create wikipedia page for our company. The 1st query is whether the username will be displayed as name of the wikipedia page? --I2econsultingWiki (talk) 11:52, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- @I2econsultingWiki, usernames should be associated with individual people, not a company, see WP:ORGNAME. Writing about a topic where you have a conflict of interest is tricky. Please read WP:COI to understand the issues and policies in play. Specifically in these circumstances you're required to submit a draft of a proposed article for review at articles for creation. ~Kvng (talk) 12:18, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
