Good topic?

[edit]

Hi Rambley! I hope you're doing well. I remember your great work significantly expanding Forever Howlong, and, since I noticed your work on expanding articles to GA, I was wondering if you'd be interested in collaborating on a good topic for the studio albums of Black Country, New Road. I believe that Forever Howlong is ready for GA, but Ants from Up There needs citations for some claims and a little bit of copyediting. Yesterday, I've nominated For the First Time for GA (funnily, someone began to review as the time i'm writing this), and I'm also planning to create a separate article for their discography, with each recording properly cited before publishing (User:Cathodography/sandbox/2). Cattos💭 20:53, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the kind message. I would love to work on getting all these articles to GA and working up to GT. I’ll do some cleanup tonight on FH and nominate it, and we can work on AFUT until it’s at a satisfactory stage. Rambley (talk) 21:50, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That's great to hear! I added citations to claims that were uncited, and properly cited genres on AFUT, for now. Cattos💭 23:36, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I've done a lot of copyediting for AFUT both last night and this morning. I've placed tons of [citation needed] notices across the background and composition sections. The release section will also need some expansion, then it should be good to go. Rambley (talk) 14:11, 20 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'll see when i can fill in those [citation needed]s and potentially expand the article itself. I will take my time today in creating the band's discography. Cattos💭 15:30, 20 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I got bored so I finished up everything myself, haha. Everything is now well cited and cleaned up in terms of language and I went ahead and expanded the Release section. Feel free to take a look over it whenever you get a chance. Rambley (talk) 18:41, 20 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Great! I have just finished in referencing the sources and created their discography, i just need to make the lead paragraphs for FL. By the way, good job getting Exai to GA! Cattos💭 19:27, 20 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Just a little note, I checked WP:FLC and I can't see the nomination. I did see there is a step to add {{Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/name of nominated list/archiveNumber}} at the top of the list, just in case you forgot to do that Rambley (talk) 22:16, 22 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Good catch! I just added the template, should be all set now. Cattos💭 22:26, 22 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I got bored today and ended up nominating the main Black Country, New Road article for GA. Sharing with you because I thought you might be interested. Feel free to take a look! Cattos💭 01:31, 7 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Took a look at the article this morning and it looks great, well-written and well-cited. Your work on the main article, discography page and FTFT is really commendable and it's been awesome collaborating with you thus far. Rambley (talk) 08:32, 7 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Cathodography Congrats on the FL!! Rambley (talk) 00:43, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I just saw this while I was moving the achievement to your talk page, thank you! Cattos💭 00:46, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Edward Bonner (12:52, 1 June 2025)

[edit]

Hi. My name is Edward Bonner. I am an author of some books. I would like to add my books and pictures. Is it possible --Edward Bonner (talk) 12:52, 1 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

As you have a conflict of interest, I'd recommend waiting until someone writes an article(s) on your work, assuming it's notable. If you must, you can submit drafts through the AfC process, where unrelated editors can review your work for notability and neutrality. Rambley (talk) 13:19, 1 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 11:54:15, 4 June 2025 for assistance on AfC submission by 82.85.235.21

[edit]

Help with sources on the Draft page: Louis Michel Rieul Billon Good morning. I wanted to ask if I'd use the sources I used in the presentation, specifically these ones here http://web.archive.org/web/20171111151958/http://www.bmsenlis.com/data/pdf/70/70364.pdf and http://archive.org/details/causesclbres07fouq , if they could be used to source also the attack and background section, since I noticed it was refuted because those parts were unsourced and so as I said I wanted to ask if such sources could be reused since they also talk about the attack and the context behind it or instead it's necessary to use other kind of sources.

82.85.235.21 (talk) 11:54, 4 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

While it is always okay to reuse sources if they cover the claims discussed in an article, additional sources are always appreciated to establish further notability of the topic. Rambley (talk) 11:55, 4 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I'll see to do that then and see if I can add one or two more sources on those sections then. Thank you. 82.85.235.21 (talk) 12:07, 4 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Farmaan Hasan Khan (11:30, 5 June 2025)

[edit]

Hi Mentor, I submitted my article which was decilned with comment - We're sorry, but we cannot accept blank submissions. If in fact you did include text within the article, but it isn't showing, please make sure that any extra text above your entry is removed, as it may be causing it to hide and not be shown to the reviewer.

Please help me how to submit article in ARC so that it is not rejected again. --Farmaan Hasan Khan (talk) 11:30, 5 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your article was blank; this means you didn’t write any text in the article for us to review, and as such it was declined. To avoid being declined for the same reason, you’ll need to write actual text in the article before resubmitting. Rambley (talk) 11:39, 5 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from GYHASHAKE About David Clendining Draft Page

[edit]

Thank you for the quick response for my first attempt in submitting my article on artist David Clendining. Your comment indicated I don't have enough sources for the content. Are you looking for more citations, or links to other sources on topics and locations included in the article? Like a town location or more museum or monument information?

I will study more on what is considered adequate cited sources, although what I have found for the artist so far is about all there is out there that I can find. These seemed pretty legit, news articles and CBC interviews, but I'll continue to try to determine what is needed. GYHASHAKE (talk) 14:55, 6 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

BLPs (biographies of living persons) need inline citations next to claims about them in order to verify the claims. Way too many paragraphs in this article are completely uncited, meaning there is no source to confirm the information being written.
Typically, BLPs should follow this format:
[Name] was born in [place] on [this date].[1]
[Name] liked [this activity] and started doing it on [this date].[1]
[Name] started work at [company] when they were [age], taking on the position of [job role].[1]
If your sources do not match the information being written about, it should not be in the article. Article information should be based off claims made in reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject and cover them in significant depth. Even if the article was not a BLP, there is still way too much information without a source. Rambley (talk) 15:00, 6 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  1. ^ a b c A reference that supports the claim.
I have edited the page and added more citations. There are no citations for the sections on Early Life and Career because there is nothing publicly published about a person's job career, or the 'story' of the life. But there are citations for the artist's work. So, in providing a history about what led him to producing his art, there cannot be any citations.
Should I submit the draft again for your review? GYHASHAKE (talk) 20:22, 25 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If there are no sources for the Early Life and Career sections, then remove them. Information has to be backed up with a source, especially in a BLP; if no sources exist for the information, do not include the information, as Wikipedia articles should consist of reliable, secondary sources being summarised in one's own words. Rambley (talk) 20:25, 25 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Recording/Album notability

[edit]

First, thanks for the work you do. Quality is important.

Per "The Flood" album, you helpfully guided me to the Notability page. In the subsection "Recordings", it said there had to be at least one of a number of items, the first being the recording being covered in media that "includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, books, magazine articles, online versions of print media, and television documentaries."

The the draft we have citations from for online versions of print, radio (which should be added to the media list above) as well as online-only media.

It looks from my end that we met the inclusion criteria, so I'm stumped as to why this is a roadblock. Guyshomenet (talk) 17:40, 7 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, thanks for the message.
Articles need a variety of reliable, secondary sources which are independent from the subject and cover the topic in significant depth; not just passing mentions. Only two of the sources cited within the article discuss the album, albeit in significant depth rather than passing mentions, which is good. More sources need to be cited in order to show this album is notable, as two is simply not enough.
Additionally, a lot of content in the article is uncited; nearly the entire background section is devoid of citations. Ideally, articles should be written based on the information gathered from secondary sources, with those sources cited to allow readers to verify content and claims made. If you have other reliable sources in the forms of "online versions of print, radio and online-only media" as you say, cite them in the article. This will help establish notability.
Cheers. Rambley (talk) 17:49, 7 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from (Cpcv2026 (talk) 13:27, 8 June 2025 (UTC))

[edit]

Dear Rambley,

Thank you for reviewing my submission, Draft:Purged Cross-Validation. I appreciate your feedback pointing out that the draft read more like a tutorial or essay, and may have contained original research elements.

In response, I have substantially revised the article. The updated version removes the opinionated language, eliminates example code and links to notebooks, and is now written entirely in an encyclopedic tone. The content is now grounded in published secondary sources, including many textbooks and journal articles. The methodology and applications are now presented factually, with proper citations and no synthesis or interpretation beyond the sources.

This is an important topic taught at graduate-level courses in engineering schools, so I would like that this article has as much of an educational tilt as permissible.

I would be grateful if you could kindly take another look or provide any further suggestions for improvement. I am relatively new to Wikipedia, but I am committed to ensuring that the article meets Wikipedia’s standards for neutrality, verifiability, and style, so I would very much appreciate your guidance.

Sincerely, (Cpcv2026 (talk) 13:27, 8 June 2025 (UTC))[reply]

I'm saying the sources provided are placeholders, not real, reliable sources. Sources 2 to 15 are all placeholders and thus do nothing for notability or verification. They need to be removed and replaced with real sources. Rambley (talk) 15:47, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Draft page "Smartphone Free Childhood"

[edit]

Good afternoon I read that the page have been declined for lack of independent sources, the movement has 140.000 parents in UK and I put the references of two articles appeared in The Guardian and The Times, i thought it was sufficient. I did my best but I am new to wikipedia, what should I add to improve it? Thank you Rosario PS: Important to mention that i am just one of the 140.000 parents who believes that delaying smartphones to children is important, but i have no personal interest in this organization Rosario Carlo Rizzo (talk) 16:06, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Many claims in the article are unsourced. Additionally, articles typically require a minimum of three sources, but more are always preferred. Rambley (talk) 16:08, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I understand now, thank you for your very fast reply
I can search for other 2 references, would 4 references be enough?
The source of most of the claims that I wrote is from a long and comprehensive article in the Financial Times, which is a considered a reliable and precise newspaper. Can I add the reference to the same Financial Times article in various parts of the document (one reference for each claim)? Rosario Carlo Rizzo (talk) 16:17, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry I correct: not the Financial Times, I meant "The Times" the widely read UK newspaper Rosario Carlo Rizzo (talk) 16:20, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The same source can be used for multiple claims, as long as it's discussed in that source. As long as you have a good range of reliable sources that support all claims in the article, the draft should be okay. Rambley (talk) 16:21, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ok thank you in this case I will repeat the same source and search for 2 other newspapers that wrote about this organizations Rosario Carlo Rizzo (talk) 16:23, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Rambley, following your indications, I have added 2 articles from The Guardian and Financial Times and I create references for all the description contained in the text.
Is the wikipedia page acceptable now?
Of course this is an initial page, other users can improve the page by adding other useful information
Thank you Rosario Carlo Rizzo (talk) 17:06, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Woodpigeon Gaming on Red Kite Animation (13:37, 12 June 2025)

[edit]

I do apologise that this may be specific to UK law but I have a feeling that the company in question is no longer active - Companies House records show that the main entity has been struck off on multiple occasions since 2020, their only employee seems to be the current director and and that related entities bearing the Red Kite name have been dissolved. Would I be able to change the article to reflect this suspicion or would I need to obtain absolute proof that this is the case? --Woodpigeon Gaming (talk) 13:37, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

If a reliable, published source covers this information you are welcome to add it. Although, from the sounds of it (if I'm reading this correctly) this leans into original research a bit. Rambley (talk) 14:17, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 14:23:56, 12 June 2025 for assistance on AfC submission by Itsvii

[edit]

Hey I wrote an article titled Golden Oak private school and it was rejected three times. I fixed the mistakes made previously however it keeps getting rejected because supposedly there are not enough sources. The private school that I am writing about is relatively new, for that reason there are not many in depth sources I can reference. The ones I added are the only ones available.

Itsvii (talk) 14:23, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

If these are the only sources available, then it's likely the school does not qualify for a Wikipedia article. Multiple reliable sources that cover the topic in significant depth to show how and why the topic is notable are needed for articles. Rambley (talk) 14:27, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Rakai Page

[edit]

Hi, thank you for reviewing the draft.

While some sources may not be traditional, they directly talk about 2xrakai and his content. He’s a rising internet personality with strong growth across platforms like Twitch (over 1M followers), TikTok (1.7M+), and Instagram (850K+). He’s collaborated with well-known creators like Kai Cenat and Tylil and appeared at major events such as Mafiathon 2 and Streamer University.

He has a loyal fanbase, growing influence, and is widely recognized in the streaming space. I kindly ask for reconsideration of his notability based on his real online impact and the coverage he’s received within his community. Gusup23 (talk) 00:12, 16 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The issue is that many of these sources are simply not reliable. Articles are based off reliable, secondary sources that cover the subject in significant depth. Sources like Sportskeeda, YouTube, Newsbreak and Bing searches are simply not good enough for inclusion in an article. If you can find multiple reliable sources that cover him, put them in the draft and then resubmit.
..on another note, please do not use LLMs such as ChatGPT for draft creation. Rambley (talk) 00:17, 16 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I understand the concerns regarding the reliability of some sources currently used for 2xRaKai’s article. While platforms like YouTube, Newsbreak, Sportskeeda, and Bing searches may not always be considered ideal sources, it’s important to note that 2xRaKai has established a significant presence and influence in the streaming community.
He has amassed over 1 million followers across platforms and regularly draws 20,000+ concurrent viewers per Twitch stream, which is a clear indication of his impact and notability. Moreover, he is widely recognized within the industry and among fans, collaborating with well known creators and participating in major events.
Although traditional media coverage is still growing, his large, active, and loyal audience, combined with his industry presence, demonstrates his significance as a subject worthy of a Wikipedia page.
I hope you can reconsider the article with these points in mind, as 2xRaKai represents a notable figure in today’s digital and streaming culture. Gusup23 (talk) 00:45, 16 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Just because he has a large amount of followers does not automatically qualify him for a Wikipedia article. Article content is based off information provided in reliable sources. The subject needs multiple, secondary, reliable sources covering him and the information in the article, as I have mentioned. Follower counts do not matter in establishing notability.
Please do not use LLMs in communication either. It is frowned upon. Rambley (talk) 00:49, 16 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
what are you talking about isn't the The Source talking about the subject there's a reason why he has that many followers because people talk about him it doesn't mean he has to be on a page talking about who he is Wikipedia's not always about what people are saying is about who the person is he has impacted many people through to the content that he makes maybe you should take time to read those sources that I provide maybe you will know what who he is then Gusup23 (talk) 01:48, 16 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It is the reliability of the source that matters. Rambley (talk) 08:19, 16 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
okay I'll see what I can do maybe add more source that are thank u Gusup23 (talk) 08:21, 16 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Dbb2004 (13:54, 16 June 2025)

Hello, I just made this account because I am working for EdV garden in Italy this summer for 2 months and my boss would like me to edit the wikipedia page to her liking, I tried to edit without an account and it didn't save any of my changes. Will my changes to the article save now? --Dbb2004 (talk) 13:54, 16 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

As you have a conflict of interest, you should not be editing the article at all without discussing changes on the article's talk page. If you published the changes but they do not show up on the article, another editor likely reverted them. If you did not publish the changes and simply made a new account, the changes are gone forever. Rambley (talk) 14:00, 16 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rambley, you just had declined the new post above. I have no experience with Wikipedia posts, so I wonder what kind of references do you need on top of published research papers to accept a publication? If there is too much information around, it would be helpful to know, too. So I could correct the post. We have here an AI scientist from Europe, financed in his research by the EU with decent research papers and linked to a business success. The application is technically leading the development in "AI in Investing". Many thanks for your support and answer. CarstenBoehme (talk) 15:37, 16 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@CarstenBoehme Hi there. At the time of my review, the sources used were formatted as external links rather than proper references and the reference list appeared blank, so it was declined. Another editor has helped fix this problem. There are some other issues with the draft I would fix before resubmission:
- Drafts should be written in the neutral and formal tone expected of an encyclopedia. Promotional language like "Under his leadership, the fund has attracted institutional clients, maintained a positive performance track record, and won recognition for its innovation in financial technology" or "his work during this period laid the foundation for the fund's fully automated, emotion-free trading system" are unfitting. There are other similar issues, but hopefully these examples show what I mean.
- Citing random business websites or talks the subject gave as sources is.. not great. Drafts should make reference to multiple, reliable, secondary sources that discuss the subject in significant detail and are independent from the subject. The fact he has wrote papers is not enough to warrant notability. Please see WP:NACADEMIC.
- Contentious statements about the subject, whether positive, negative or neutral should be backed up with the relevant reliable sources. This is outlined by WP:BLP.
Once you have addressed all of the problems above, feel free to resubmit and I or another reviewer can take another look at it. Cheers. Rambley (talk) 15:51, 16 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Very helpful. I will fix this. At least I will try. CarstenBoehme (talk) 15:53, 16 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello Rambley,

Although I quite agree with you that it definitely feels like a listicle instead of a proper Wikipedia article, however, I decided to include this article as someone had completely trashed the efforts of Russian scientists and engineers on Quora in the last 24 hours. I could expand the article by pulling more and more paragraphs from the respective achievements of their engineers or scientists or the details of the projects which I have included in the list to provide a page where one could just take a look at all of their firsts or major improvements on what was available when they embarked on a major improvement on that existing artifact.

When it comes to list type articles without too many details, I am quite sure that I will be able to find many more than just the following couple of articles included in this message:

  1. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Russian_scientists
  2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_African-American_writers

HauntedGhostSurdar (talk) 15:55, 16 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The article, as it is now, is unfit for mainspace. It cites no sources to backup any claims and as you said yourself, was made in response to somebody on Quora rather than the want to build the encyclopedia. Timeline of Russian innovation and List of Russian inventors already exist as articles, so perhaps it'd be worth your time working on improving those pages instead. You are, of course, free to resubmit and ask another reviewer, but I feel they would share the same thoughts as me. Rambley (talk) 16:08, 16 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Congratulations, [Rambley]! The list you [contributed], Black Country, New Road discography, has been promoted to featured status, recognizing it as one of the best lists on Wikipedia. The nomination discussion has been archived.
This is a rare accomplishment and you should be proud. If you would like, you may nominate it to appear on the Main page as Today's featured list. Keep up the great work! Cheers, PresN (talk) via FACBot (talk) 00:25, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Rambley,

You were quick to point out that the page, which I had named by using the word “Lust” as the first word, read more like a fan facts list, however, upon providing you with at least a couple of list type articles which contain no information barring the list of scientist or authors and their major works and those pages are live on Wikipedia, I would like to know that what are your objections now. List type articles or listicles definitely exist on Wikipeida in sheer numbers, and my article would not stand out in any manner at all as Wikipedia allows creation of list type articles that only list the major achievements of a country or high achievers in a particular category, for example arts or authorship. I would greatly appreciate if you were to provide more feedback on how my article, which I have just started and plan to expand significantly, fails to meet the rules of list type articles, or treat the effort justly, just like all other list type articles have been treated, and let it go live with the warning that this article need further entries or more data and the author is planning to slowly expand the article to list all of the major achievement by Russian scientist.

Sincerely,

Irfan — HauntedGhostSurdar

Review

[edit]

Hello @Rambley! Thank you for reviewing the page (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Sanjib_Bhattacharjee). This is my first article, but after consulting with numerous people who said that the page looks fine (no notability issues) and is ready to submit again, I took the action. The comments you gave were about the Metro newspaper. These 2 particular articles are not tabloid articles so I thought they would be fine since it is a national newspaper. The other publications are specific to the Road Safety field and are highly well-known and regarded, and have all given significant coverage of Mr Bhattacharjee, not just passing mentions. In regards to the use of LinkedIn and Guido Fawkes, these are only on addition to the other sources and if need be I can remove them, but the information seems to be accurate. There are also international newspapers (ie. The Assam Tribune) and also local newspapers like the Ilford Recorder which I have used as well. I have previously removed the Daily Star mention but this was not a tabloid mention either.

Please advise. Flyhigh223! (talk) 22:13, 22 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:METRO. In regards to LinkedIn and Guido Fawkes, these are self-published sources and as such are not regarded as reliable. All of these sources should be removed. Please see Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources for information on the reliability (or unreliability) of certain sources.
I did another spot check of the sources and I still standby my former point. The Independent article only mentions Sanjib at the very end in a brief sentence or two. One of the two Road Safety GB articles is titled "OPINION: backlog of driving tests threatens Britain’s road safety" and thus the reliability of the piece is.. questionable. The other Road Safety GB article has no author and I can find no editorial policy for the site itself.
While the election results and British Empire medal are fine, they do not count as significant press coverage of the subject in question. The source from The Guardian isn't actually The Guardian, and is instead the Waltham Forest Guardian. Press releases also cannot be used to establish notability; see WP:PRSOURCE.
While there are a handful of sources that are genuinely reliable and offer significant coverage of the subject like the Intelligent Instructor and the Ilford Recorder, I hope this message outlines there are just too many problems to accept the draft. Our job as AfC reviewers is to review whether an article is the right fit for mainspace and if it would survive AfD. Right now I am unsure it would survive, and thus I declined it. I believe with enough work it may meet Wikipedia standards, though. Hope this helps. Rambley (talk) 22:44, 22 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hello @Rambley thank you so much for your advice. I have worked on it a bit more, am I supposed to also remove the Metro articles? I included the LinkedIn archive previously as I saw this done in other wiki articles but I have now removed this, as well as the Guido Fawkes. Please let me know. Flyhigh223! Look ok ??? --Lin-Manuel McButtbacon (talk) 02:37, 23 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Looks fine, although:
- Do not mark changes you make to the article body as minor. Minor changes are for extremely small things like punctuation changes, template fixes, etc. If it changes the overall information of the article, do not mark it as minor.
- When citing sources, you will want to use the correct citation template. RefToolbar comes pre-loaded with news sites, websites, books and scientific journals, although more exist. I have updated the source you cited with the correct citation template.
- For books, it is often helpful to cite the exact page the information comes from.
Also a note; mentor questions are for specific questions about editing. I don't have to look over every single change you make; just have fun with it and ask me about anything you don't understand. Rambley (talk) 11:17, 23 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I'm new to this and I was wondering if you could share a little more information about what this draft needs to qualify as a full article? Draft:Pentax MZ-5

It seems to contain more information than the other Pentax AF film SLR articles (save for the MZ-S), but they are stubs so this is an understandable issue. Should I categorize the information more clearly? Does is need more information on what separates this model from other Pentax contemporaries? Keen for your suggestions.

Thanks! Evotron123 (talk) 03:52, 24 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is the amount of sources. Currently we have:
- One review
- An announcement about the camera
- The instruction manual
- An archive of pictures
While the review is good, none of the rest of these sources really do anything to establish the subject is notable enough to warrant an article. Rambley (talk) 08:56, 24 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

A company's website and a Crunchbase article are not reliable sources. You need multiple, reliable secondary sources that cover the subject in significant depth and are independent from the subject. Rambley (talk) 22:47, 24 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

One singular source is not enough to establish notability. We often ask for a minimum of three reliable, secondary sources to prove the subject is notable, but more are always acceptable. The only source cited is also primary, which while fine in moderation, should not be used as the basis for an article. Rambley (talk) 10:16, 27 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding "Myron Kapral" - Resubmitted after Notability Decline

[edit]

Hi Rambley, Thank you for your time reviewing my draft article "Myron Kapral" and for your valuable feedback regarding the need to strengthen its notability. I've thoroughly revised the draft, directly addressing your comments. Specifically, I have added new, significant, and independent secondary sources that I believe now clearly demonstrate substantial coverage of the subject and meet the WP:GNG criteria. I want to confirm that I have already resubmitted the draft for review. I would be grateful if you could take another look at the updated draft when you have a moment. Any further guidance on whether the revised sources adequately meet the requirements, or if there's anything else I should address, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help! Best regards, Kamiro11 Kamiro11 (talk) 20:52, 28 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rambley, I'm writing to clarify your assessment that "WordPress blogs are not reliable sources" in relation to the references I've provided. The sources I used, including "Academic Staff" and "Bio-Bibliographical Index" from the Institute of Ukrainian Archaeography, reviews from academic journals like Urban History and Medieval Encounters, and publications from the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies and the CHEML Project, are all from reputable academic institutions, scholarly journals, or official research initiatives. None of them are private WordPress blogs; they are editorially controlled and recognized reliable sources according to Wikipedia's guidelines. Could you please explain specifically why you consider these particular references to be unreliable or categorize them as private blogs? Kamiro11 (talk) 15:06, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Please stop using LLMs to communicate with me. I would rather speak to you, not an LLM's summarisation of your thoughts.
Source 5 is a WordPress blog. It leads to "https://cheml.wordpress.com/advisory-board/". WordPress blogs are unreliable. Rambley (talk) 15:09, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Are they all blogs? Let's come to a compromise Kamiro11 (talk) 15:14, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I am unsure what you mean. The WordPress issue relates to one source and was a small part of my decline message. The source is still not acceptable and should be removed or replaced with a more reliable source. The rest of my message, "this is still written like a CV or huge list of achievements rather than an encyclopedia article", remains unaddressed. Rambley (talk) 15:16, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If a person has written about 300 articles and published and edited more than 20 books, it may look like what you wrote, but it cannot be adjusted and is subjective. But the article should have at least three independent sources, and there are more if we add four external links Kamiro11 (talk) 15:22, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
What do you mean it "cannot be adjusted and is subjective"? You can edit the draft quite easily. The draft, right now, is mostly lists of achievements, publications and affiliations of this author rather than an encyclopedia article. You can, very easily, edit the draft to use prose rather than these lists. Many of these awards or achievements have no sources either. Rambley (talk) 15:26, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It is about assessing achievements, which is subjective. Let's go back to the editing process. Many of the references to achievements are to Ukrainian sources. I doubted whether they should be added to the English-language Wiki, so I didn't include them. I'll work on the text and look at other personal articles. Kamiro11 (talk) 15:34, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Non-English sources are fine to cite. Rambley (talk) 15:36, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Lin-Manuel McButtbacon (16:11, 29 June 2025)

[edit]

Hey I added a significant entry on a page and dude swoops in and takes it all out becuae it was promotional/ It maybe was, I dont know, but it was also FACTUAL, and added to the account. How do I deal with this? --Lin-Manuel McButtbacon (talk) 16:11, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Looking at the edit that was undone, specifically this one, I would have undone it too. It has a very promotional tone throughout and doesn't fit into the formal, neutral language we use in articles. Language such as "a central role in establishing best practices, hosting global competitions, and creating space for photographers to connect" is not fit for an encyclopedia. The only source you provided was a primary source from the business themselves, which is not ideal. Reliable, secondary sources should always be preferred rather than claims from the entity themselves. The edit itself also just seems generally unfitting in the article. i made the "Nabataean Seleucid war" article and you said it was empty, while I added description and tags,I guess there must be a glitch Oneisnottwo1 (talk) 18:01, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft was not rejected, rather declined. Aside from the infobox and two blank sections, your article contained no actual content within it, meaning we couldn't really review it and it was not fit for mainspace. The current iteration now has text. Rambley (talk) 18:03, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry,but I think there's a glitch in the system,I added everything,I think you guys should do something,I swear I added alot,I have screenshots to prove Oneisnottwo1 (talk) 18:12, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what you're talking about. The current iteration of the article now has text, but previous iterations don't. I checked the page source and no text was there either. Rambley (talk) 18:14, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Is there any way to prove that I did it,or any way to fix this? I think it's because when I made it I didn't add anything at first, but when I made edits to it,none of them apparently work Oneisnottwo1 (talk) 18:17, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Please read what I am saying. The current iteration of the article has text. Rambley (talk) 18:18, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ok,but to make sure everything is working,I changed the location,it should say Nabataean levant and cana Oneisnottwo1 (talk) 18:21, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Just checking,is it working now?? Oneisnottwo1 (talk) 18:28, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Is what working? Rambley (talk) 18:40, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Like is my page visible and working, like the "see also" and the description,if so,is it acceptable Oneisnottwo1 (talk) 18:46, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Your draft has been "visible and working" since you first created it. Originally the draft had no text apart from an infobox and some references, so it was repeatedly declined by reviewers. As I've said about three times, the current iteration has text and it looks.. fine. I will let another reviewer(s) take a look at it. Rambley (talk) 18:48, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined AFC

[edit]

Hey Rambley. You recently declined my article on 2025 Valorant Champions Tour: Bangkok Masters, saying the sourced used were unreliable. While I understand that comparatively to the rest of Wikipedia, these sources are unreliable, within the domain of Valorant, they are widely considered to be written by reliable authors. Additionally, comparing sources to similar, published articles such as 2025 Valorant Champions Tour: Toronto Masters, 2024 Valorant Champions Tour: Madrid Masters, 2024 Valorant Champions Tour: Shanghai Masters, there is no real difference between the quality of sources used. How should I proceed to make sure the article can be accepted? Should I use more primary sources like the livestreams of the games themselves? Thanks! Azuuuu (talk) 11:13, 30 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I'll confess I'm not the most knowledgable about video game-related sources. I would still remove Sportskeeda since it's regarded as unreliable and I would consider removing E4EQUIP since it seems to be WP:UGC as well. When writing articles, the less primary sources the better. Rambley (talk) 11:16, 30 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Response to Decline

[edit]

Thank you for your previous feedback. I have revised the draft significantly to ensure that it meets Wikipedia's notability standards.

- I removed all primary and promotional sources (including company websites). - I now include only third-party **independent, reliable, and in-depth** sources:

 - A national media article from **Manager Online** about the company's HR Tech event.
 - A detailed report from **BrandBuffet** about a university training collaboration.
 - A seminar announcement covered by **PR News Plus**.
 - ISO 27001 certification verification directly from **BSI Group**, an internationally recognized standards body.

I believe the subject now meets the requirements of notability under WP:ORG, with multiple published and independent sources.

Thank you again for your time and review. 43.240.115.2 (talk) 09:25, 1 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, your article was rejected by another reviewer so it unfortunately cannot be resubmitted. Apparently not. I'll let another reviewer take a look at it. Best, Rambley (talk) 09:27, 1 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you!

I have to be honest that I was overwhelmed when I saw the AfC backlog just now! Your work at articles for creation is incredible. Thank you so much for being part of the June Backlog Drive eliminators. I miss reviewing drafts and I hope I am able to get back more actively again. hi. I created an account but why doesn't it show In search. Am I doing something wrong --Randomuser1122 (talk) 16:24, 1 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Do you mean the search bar in Wikipedia itself? If yes, type “User:Randomuser1122” and you’ll appear. Rambley (talk) 20:02, 1 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Dellyjoe85 (11:42, 4 July 2025)

[edit]

Hello Rambley Please, I have I submitted a draft for review few days ago but I don't know what to do next about it. Kindly put me through. --Dellyjoe85 (talk) 11:42, 4 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Assuming you're talking about Draft:Hillary Akpua, you have not submitted the draft for review yet. Press the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page and you'll have sent it in for review. At that point, you just have to wait for an AfC reviewer to get around to it.
