Shall review, quite an interesting article! Arconning (talk) 03:04, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
- Awesome, thank you! I'd assumed this one would never get reviewed, as it was a bit niche. I might add/change a few things, but I'll try not to add/change so much that the article seems unstable. Thanks for the review! Bloomagiliw (talk) 03:13, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Bloomagiliw Here are my comments! Arconning (talk) 14:40, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hello! Will slowly work on all your comments today and maybe tomorrow. Hope I can make it GA-standard by then, but either way, thank you for reviewing and helping it improve! Bloomagiliw (talk) 23:03, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, I've tried to address the problems you mentioned, as well as make the points in the article much clearer, with better sources. I know it's also longer now, so please take your time, but I hope you can take a look soon. Thanks again! Bloomagiliw (talk) 08:22, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
- Here'll be the rest of my comments. See below Arconning (talk) 11:49, 14 May 2025 (UTC)
- Done. Added "(pictured)" to every image box for consistency.
- (Just clarifying that I try to refer to idol group members in solo terms as much as I can, in anticipation of when these people inevitably start to focus on solo endeavors in the future. But I still edited it to "SB19 member Felip"!) Bloomagiliw (talk) 11:59, 14 May 2025 (UTC)
- Here'll be the rest of my comments. See below Arconning (talk) 11:49, 14 May 2025 (UTC)

Prose and MoS
[edit]- Mentions of "BisRock" should be rewritten as such.
Lead and infobox
[edit]- "(not to be confused with the Scandinavian musical genre),", this is obsolete as there's already a disambiguation page given, this should be removed.
- "Visayan pop, better known as Vispop (not to be confused with the Scandinavian musical genre), is short for Visayan popular music. Despite its name, it usually refers...", "Visayan pop, better known as Vispop, usually refers..."
- "For instance, a separate pop music movement for Hiligaynon emerged in the late 2010s, called Ilonggo pop", not mentioned in the body.
- ", an abbreviated form of Bisaya rock music", this can be removed
- "original Cebuano music.", what does this pertain to? I can imagine it's adjacent to the term Original Pilipino Music, if so it's not included in the body.
- "a new crop of Vispop talents renewed the industry's hope in the genre.", "crop" would be a bit too informal + "and were considered as a "new hope" in the genre."
- "fresh pop sound", what exactly is a fresh pop sound?
- "Although it has largely fallen out of use among younger generations of Cebuanos, who deem the art form "cheesy", its legacy can be felt in the eloquence and sweetness of Vispop.", can't be found in the body.
Definitions and etymology
[edit]- First mention of Visayan should probably be wikilinked to Bisayan languages instead.
- "is simply derived", "simply" can be removed.
- " In practice, however, the term Vispop is mainly used in reference to popular music written in the Cebuano language, not all Visayan languages.", see third comment in "Lead and infobox", provide other examples as well in the "Definitions and etymology" section for other Visayan languages that have distinct versions of pop music.
Characteristics
[edit]- "emotionally resonant lyricism and folksy artistry.", this could be worded more formally, can't see this exact wording in the source either.
- "the popular singer-songwriter", the word "popular" in this context would be a bit biased... please omit.
Introduction of Western music to the Visayans
[edit]- All good, makes sense.
20th century
[edit]- "further bolstered modern Cebuano music.", can "bolstered" be replaced with "strengthened"?
- "Some sources also spell his surname as Kabahar", please provide said sources.
- "Pilita Corrales released numerous Cebuano songs in the 20th century, including "Matud Nila".", source?
2000s to mid-2010s
[edit]- "(Filscap)", this doesn't have to be stated as no further mentions of it can be seen within the article.
Late 2010s to 2020s
[edit]- "Also in September 2021, Felip made his solo debut "Palayo" (lit. 'Walk Away'), a Vispop song about ending a toxic relationship.", stating his band would add much needed context.
- "famed Vispop singer-songwriter", use of the word "famed" is also quite biased.
Media
[edit]- All images have proper licensing. All good.
Refs
[edit]- Earwig just picks up quotes, all good.
- Ref checks: 1, 3, 9, 16, 18, 26, 43. All good.
- I do doubt the editorial insight of source number 13, which comes from Uste, could this be changed?
Misc
[edit]- No ongoing edit war, quite broad information, hold for neutrality.
Subsequent comments
[edit]- I see there has been a huge structure change on the article so I'll put my comments here instead. Arconning (talk) 11:49, 14 May 2025 (UTC)
- ""Matud Nila"(transl. They Say)", missing space.
- " Jacky Chang (not to be confused with Jackie Chan).", the "not to be confused part" doesn't have to be included, please remove.
- "Felip, who is also a member of SB19", "SB19 member Felip (pictured)", I personally don't see the need for an "also a member of SB19"
