X and YouTube account

[edit]

Hello!

I am adding some modules on the infobox of Bini, I added the X account. However, I want to add the YouTube account of Bini but I don't know if when hit 100K subscribers of their official account. Also, i will add their X account of individual members.

ROY is WAR Talk! 05:25, 29 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I don't believe these are necessary, as they're not typically included in musical group BLPs like this one. According to the template's documentation, this infobox is intended to be used in articles about individuals or organizations who are known primarily for their presence or work on X. However, Bini is not primarily known for their content or activity on that platform, but rather uses it as a social media outlet. Like many popular entities, they maintain a presence across various social media platforms, which is standard.
That's just my opinion though, I don't know what the other editors think about this. AstrooKai (Talk) 08:19, 29 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Same as Astro but with WP:FANCRUFT grounds. Borgenland (talk) 12:38, 29 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm also with the FANCRUFT grounds (forgot to include it). The information about their social media statistics may only concern their fans, not the general population (readers) as a whole. AstrooKai (Talk) 13:10, 29 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I believe that it's not necessary for the group page. It's more for people who are committed content creators/influencers. Bloomagiliw (talk) 13:17, 29 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Why this article became Good Article and Former Good Article at the same time?

[edit]

On the top page, there is a notice saying: Bini (group) is currently a Music good article nominee. Nominated by ROY is WAR Talk! at 06:42, 28 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

But on below is a former Good article nominee, i'm so confused that if this article was a good article or not, pls fix. ArtopiaBoy (talk) 01:54, 6 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

That is the second nomination for reassessment of this article. ROY is WAR Talk! 01:57, 6 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The article was nominated previously but failed, which is why it’s marked as a former Good Article nominee. It is now being renominated, so the top tag shows it’s a nominee again. AstrooKai (Talk) 03:00, 6 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Recommendation to withdraw the GA nomination

[edit]

This article has been a GA nominee for two months now (three months by July 28). As one of its main authors, I believe the article is still far from meeting the criteria for GA status.

The first nomination was quick-failed, with the reviewer recommending a PR first. Although a PR was initiated the following day, it unfortunately never progressed.

There is still considerable work needed to bring this article up to standard. Keeping the nomination active without making substantial improvements may suggest that the goal is simply to gain GA status, rather than to ensure the article actually merits it.

For these reasons, I recommend withdrawing the current GA nomination and focusing on improving the article in preparation for a new nomination. Once there's agreement among editors, I will create a new section here to serve as the main discussion thread for posting and discussing suggestions for improvement, and to keep things tidy and organized here in the talk page.

Pinging the GA nominator (@Royiswariii) and other recent, significant authors of this article (@Borgenland, @Bloomagiliw) for their feedback. AstrooKai (Talk) 10:15, 26 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Agree. Some sources in endorsements need better sources or verification. Borgenland (talk) 10:17, 26 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. Bloomagiliw (talk) 10:28, 26 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi everyone!
I Removed the GA nom to fix the sources. ROY is WAR Talk! 02:57, 27 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions for improving this article

[edit]

In light of the § Recommendation to withdraw the GA nomination, here are my suggestions and the issues I found throughout the article. Everyone is welcome to work on these; I'll also be gradually addressing them myself. If anyone spots other issues I haven't listed, feel free to drop them here. Alternative suggestions for the points I listed are also welcome.

I did not delve much into the grammar of the prose, as it would only make this list longer.

Note: This is a very exhaustive list. Please let me know if I should wrap it all in a collapsible template.

Lead

  1. The lead basically needs a rewrite to re-align with the present information throughout the entire article.

Name

  1. Maybe minimize the lengthy quotations here by integrating them into the text.
  2. We should also start normalizing the use {{Translation}} or {{Literal translation}} (whichever is appropriate) throughout the article for consistency and to let know the readers that the parenthesized word is a translation, as well as {{Lang}} per MOS:LANG.

History

2018–2020: Formation, pre-debut activities
  1. This entire subsection is built using primary sources (e.g., YouTube, ABS-CBN Entertainment). While this is unavoidable since Bini wasn't that popular back then, there may be newer sources that can support these, now that they're well-known.
  2. Some of the primary sources cited in this section are WP:PRSOURCE or press releases, particularly Ref#4, which is referenced three times in this section.
  3. The group trained from 2019 to 2020 under local coaches, who included Kitchy Molina, the professional vocal coach and former chair of the Department of Voice, Music Theater, and Dance at the University of the Philippines College of Music; Austrian-born dance coach Mickey Perz; and South Korean coaches from MU Doctor Academy.

I don't know why, but this paragraph cannot be supported by Ref#4, which is cited in it. Ref#8 is cited to only support the who included Kitchy Molina, the professional vocal coach and former chair of the Department of Voice, Music Theater, and Dance at the University of the Philippines College of Music statement. I remember that I was the one who added this, and I apologize. I wasn't knowledgeable back then, lol. Anyway, Ref#12 (dead but archived) can be a suitable alternative for this, though the paragraph will need some copyedit to align with Ref#12's contents.
  4. Ref#9, an X (Twitter) post, is cited to support In May 2020, Dyogi released on Twitter a performance practice video of the group singing and dancing to "Ngiti" (Smile) by Young JV and Gary Valenciano to show their progress in training. While WP:ABOUTSELF permits the use of self-published sources for statements about oneself like this, it's better to find another secondary source that can support this. Otherwise, we need to remove it since we're aiming for the GA standard.
  5. Ref#10, which is referenced for the In August 2020, the group participated in the Philippine K-pop Convention's Happy Hallyu Day 4 event, performing K-pop dance covers, including Red Velvet's "In & Out", Blackpink's "How You Like That" and Twice's "More & More". statement, no longer exists. The original website, Sagisag, no longer exists. Its domain, sagisag.com, now redirects to a Japanese sports page.
  6. If secondary ones cannot support the statements that rely solely on primary sources, then we need to minimize the use of these primary sources, or consider removing the statements altogether.
2021–2022: Debut with "Born to Win"
  1. Ref#19, cited to support the release date "Born to Win" and the On the same day as the release of "Born to Win", the group hosted the first segment of their debut launch, Bini: The Runway, which was broadcast via KTX. The event conceptually combined fashion and music, showcasing the group's first official public appearance, with bespoke creations by Filipino designer Francis Libiran. statement is a press release. Secondaries are needed for substitution for this primary.
  2. Ref#22, which is cited to support the following, is also a press release. Additionally, the level of detail on this may be WP:UNDUE:

The second segment of Bini's debut launch, The Showcase, was held on June 11, 2021, marking their official debut. They interacted with fans and treated them to a mini-concert experience, performing "Da Coconut Nut" and "Born to Win". The group additionally presented three performances: Gwen and Sheena performed KZ Tandingan's "Tagu-Taguan"; Colet, Jhoanna, and Maloi performed Janine Berdin's "Biyaya"; and Aiah, Stacey, and Mikha premiered "World War C", an original rap song about having strength amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The event also offered fans a glimpse into each member's journey and featured footage of their intense training at Star Hunt Academy.

  3. Ref#25, which is used to support In August, the group participated in the Philippine K-pop Convention's Happy Hallyu Day 5 event, performing dance covers of various K-pop songs in addition to "Born to Win". is a primary (YouTube video). I don't know if this relatively small information is still needed; if so, a secondary replacement is needed.
  4. Ref#28 is a WP:CITEMERGE of five references, just to support In February 2022, the group was featured on the cover of the Dubai-based magazine Xpedition as "The Burgeoning Grace", making Bini one of the first Filipino celebrities, alongside brother group BGYO, to have an NFT magazine cover launched through the Metaverse.. Honestly, this feels like a WP:CITEKILL. One or two is enough.
  5. Ref#29, used for the release of Feel Good is a press release. The album article has some independent sources that can be used as a replacement for this.
2023–2024: Domestic success, "Pantropiko" craze and Talaarawan
  1. Ref#42, used for the release of Talaarawan is a press release.
  2. In June, Bini entered the Top Artists Global chart on Spotify, reaching 193rd place. should be removed per WP:SINGLEVENDOR.
  3. Ref#50, while an ABS-CBN News article used for the release of Bini's website, is still primary. Plenty of secondaries are available online. This or this can be used as a replacement. Ref#53 can be also used.
  4. On June 14, Bini became the first Filipino artist or group to top Spotify's Daily Top Artists Philippines chart, surpassing Taylor Swift. A week later, they also topped the Weekly Top Artists chart on Spotify Philippines. While these are great milestones for Bini, I still think they should not be included per WP:SINGLENETWORK, unless they're considered as "special circumstances".
2024–present: Biniverse
  1. The In May, Bini member Sheena made her acting debut as herself in a biographical episode of drama anthology series Maalaala Mo Kaya, in which other Bini members were also cast as themselves. statement is entirely sourced from two ABS-CBN News articles. It would be better to replace these with secondaries if available, to further minimize the heavy reliance of this article on primary sources.

Artistry

Musical styles
  1. This section may need some copyedit for WP:NPOV. Some phrases like "distinct Filipino flavor", "luscious harmonies", and "witty and distinct tongue-and-cheek" may be considered as pufferies or sugar-coating.
Vocals
  1. Immediately, the starting sentence Bini has garnered widespread acclaim for their strong vocal abilities. is already bombarded with references. One or two should be enough.
  2. 63.73% (yeah, I computed it based on the number of words) of the first paragraph are quoted, which is pretty excessive. The same pattern goes for the remaining paragraphs of the section, which contain excessive quotes. We can minimize these by rewriting them all and integrating them into the text.

Other ventures

Endorsements
  1. Ref#143, used for the release of "Made for All", is a press release.
  2. While Ref#144, which is used for Modess, is a Philippine Star article, it leans to WP:SPONSORED, which must be treated as a self-published or primary source. This can be used as a better replacement.
  3. Ref#145, used for "Super Crush", is a primary (YouTube music video). This can be also used as a secondary replacement.
  4. Ref#146, used for In March 2024, Bini became one of the ambassadors of Samsung for their new Galaxy A series. is a press release from Samsung itself. This can be also used as a secondary replacement.
  5. Ref#149, used for Vitakeratin, is the YouTube music video for the promotional song, and honestly, I don't think it can support the On April 15, Bini revealed their endorsement of Unilever's hair care brand Vitakeratin synthesis.
  6. Ref#154, an ABS-CBN News article can be replaced with this from Rappler, to further minimize the use of primary sources in the article.
  7. Ref#161 is yet another YouTube music video, and like number five, I don't think it can support the synthesis of Bini becoming the ambassadors for Fudgee Barr.
  8. Ref#163, used for info about Bini becoming ambassadors for Nescafe, is a WP:SPONSORED article. This article from Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP), while only a brief mention, should be enough for verifiability.
  9. Ref#164, used for Bini becoming ambassadors for Penshoppe and the release of "Icon", is an X (Twitter) post from Penshoppe itself, which is both a primary and self-published source. This article from the Cosmopolitan Philippines should be enough as a secondary replacement.
  10. Ref#165, used for The group also released a pastiche of their song "Cherry on Top" called "Mango on Top", with their endorsement with Angel Milk Philippines, which promoted the food brand's all-purpose creamer., is a YouTube music video (another primary), which I think is not a solid source to support this synthesis.
  11. Ref#168, used for On February 28, 2025, the stationery brand Pentel Philippines announced Bini as the newest ambassadors of their pens, as well as their Sterling, Avanti, and Orions notebooks. is an Instagram post from the brand itself, which is also considered as a self-published source. I haven't found any reliable secondary sources to support this, and if other editors also can't find a suitable replacement, then we may have to remove the statement. After all, Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information, and this shouldn't be a significant loss.
  12. Ref#169, used for the info about Bini becoming the ambassador for Cornetto, is a Facebook video post from the band itself. Like number 11, it's also a self-published source, and I can't find any secondary alternatives. Removing it shouldn't also be a big loss.
  13. Ref#172, while published through ABS-CBN News, is a WP:SPONSORED article by Enervon. Since it's used in the On July 2, 2025, Bini featured one of their brand partners, Enervon, on the sixth episode of Biniversus. sentence, it's removal should not be also a big loss, since it's a relatively small detail from an episode of their show.
  14. Ref#178, which supports the statement: On November 16, 2019, as the youth ambassadors of National Youth Commission, the group took part in the 2019 FitFil Youth Against Drugs (and Obesity) campaign to promote healthy living among the youth. The event was held at the SM Mall of Asia by the Bay. — is a YouTube video from ABS-CBN Star Hunt. To be honest, while it is a primary source, I'm unsure whether it should be removed due to the lack of secondary sources. On one hand, it marks a significant early milestone for the group, becoming youth ambassadors for a national commission, which makes it feel worth keeping. On the other hand, it's puzzling that there's no coverage from news outlets, not even from ABS-CBN News, about this event.
Philanthropy
  1. Ref#180, which supports the following is an X (Twitter) post from Star Hunt Academy. To be honest, this also feels worth keeping, but at the same time, news coverage even from ABS-CBN News is absent:

On December 8, 2020, Bini along with the boy group BGYO held a joint auction charity event called #BinificiaryAucSHAn for the benefit of Typhoon Ulysses (Vamco) victims. The project ended up raising a total of 125,642 (2020) (US$2,531.87), from the groups' auctioned trainee shirts, as well as several other belongings, and from the fund raised via Kumu. All the proceeds were donated to the Cagayan and Isabela relief operations through ABS-CBN Foundation's Sagip Kapamilya.

  2. Ref#181, which is used for the statement: The ABS-CBN Christmas Special" pre-show entitled KTnX ang Babait Ninyo: ABS-CBN Christmas Special Fundraising Show, a benefit show for the survivors of Typhoons Rolly and Ulysses., is a press release.
  3. Ref#182, which is also used for the KTnX, is a primary source (it's a Behance post). There are also no secondary sources available to support this, so it would be a big loss if these were to be removed.
  4. Ref#183, used for Positive Vibes for the Positive+ benefit concert, is also an X (Twitter) post. The concert was held via Kumu, so it wasn't notable enough to get media attention, hence the absence of secondary alternatives.
Webcast
  1. Ref#189 is a press release from ABS-CBN. This article from Adobo Magazine should be enough as a secondary alternative.

Members

This section heavily relies on the two-part "Bini Chronicles" YouTube videos for their positions in the group. There should be plenty of available secondary alternatives, since the group is now well-known.

References

Most of the reference titles need formatting corrections per WP:ALLCAPS, as many are still in all uppercase and should be converted to standard title case. Additionally, some publication names are not wikilinked, even though articles for them exist.

There are also issues with citation structure: for example, newspaper names like Philippine Daily Inquirer are being placed under the publisher parameter in citation templates like {{Cite news}}, when they should be in the work parameter. According to the template documentation, the work parameter should contain the name of the newspaper, while the publisher parameter should include the company or organization that operates the newspaper.

Furthermore, some references are missing the names of the authors, and a few also have incomplete or truncated source names, which should be corrected for accuracy and consistency. AstrooKai (Talk) 18:51, 27 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

So far, I have finished Name#2 (hence the strikethrough) and made additional improvements that I have not listed here. Although I'm not sure if I should also apply #2 to proper nouns too (e.g., songs, albums, etc.). AstrooKai (Talk) 22:02, 27 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Scratch that. I just read Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Music#Names (non-English) and it stated that the names of works, and other terms, should be marked up with the {{lang}} template, using the appropriate two-letter language code.
Actually, I'm not sure if this guideline applies to modern music works (e.g., songs, albums, etc.). AstrooKai (Talk) 22:13, 27 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Eight of these have been addressed by @MelissaFukunaga and are now marked with strikethrough. Thanks for the assist! I'll handle the remaining ones, except for a few that I think should be discussed first. AstrooKai (Talk) 06:09, 28 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I want to add that some references are not archive, please include on your work. ROY is WAR Talk! 06:13, 28 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Those are simple and can be done once everything is fixed. For now, we need to resolve all issues within the article. @MelissaFukunaga and I have already addressed some of the above. I'll resume working on them later, after I've taken care of some personal matters and the SONA concludes. In the meantime, anyone is free and welcome to address them. AstrooKai (Talk) 07:01, 28 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'll be also continuing those addresses later on when I have free time. For now, anyone can address them whenever they can. MelissaFukunaga (talk) 08:24, 28 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I got rid of the excessive detail from NBS and the Enervon cameo on Biniversus. Borgenland (talk) 12:27, 28 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for helping further, @MelissaFukunaga! Can't track which of the above you have already resolved, so I'll just leave the rest to you guys. I'll focus on fixing the citation styles of all references. AstrooKai (Talk) 10:09, 29 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
AstrooKai,Borgenland, MelissaFukunaga I am thinking to creating a FAQ banner for the article. Since AstrooKai plan to fix the article to passed the GA quality such as brand endorsements we should explain this editorial decision to help readers (especially Bini fans, and non bini fans) understand why some milestones are missing from the article. This could reduce confusion and prevent repeated questioning or re-adding of removed content.
Additionally, I'm considering including on FAQ banner about the Bini Gwen deletion, as the article was repeatedly vandalized on June 25 by an IP Address. While we can't speculate per WP:CRYSTALBALL but it obviously from Bini fan and it's worth addressing the issue.
Let me know if others agree with adding a FAQ to clarify my proposal or you have suggestions to add it.
Note: Also mentioning AdobongPogi and Bloomagiliw who also major participation to Bini article and since Bloomagiliw might take over to fix Bini Gwen's article. ROY is WAR Talk! 12:01, 29 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I am open both ways on this but I will definitely recommend posting a reminder on WP:FANCRUFT as part of your proposal. Borgenland (talk) 12:06, 29 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Addendum, to avoid overly enthusiastic editors performing WP:INDISCRIMINATE here, I also recommend putting up some mention of the sister pages in the Bini template to divert some of the weight. Borgenland (talk) 13:07, 29 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm okay with it, in fact, I already have some proposal Q/As for it. AstrooKai (Talk) 12:14, 29 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm also open for this issue and would suggest adding a reference to WP:UNDUE in the proposal/FAQ to clarify how to handle balance and avoid giving too much weight to less signficant coverage. AdobongPogi masarap 🍛 12:34, 29 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Just want to let you all know that I have removed On April 15, Bini revealed their endorsement of Unilever's hair care brand Vitakeratin by releasing the promotional song "Gandang Vitakeratin" (lit.'Vitakeratin Beauty') in #Endorsements. There aren't sufficient sources to verify the release date or that the song marked their official endorsement reveal. The only available references I found are: [1] [2] [3]
The first two are from ABS-CBN News, which are not only WP:PRIMARY, but also WP:SPONSORED, and therefore discouraged from being used for sourcing. The third, from Billboard Philippines, confirms the song's existence but does not support the claimed release date or endorsement reveal. AstrooKai (Talk) 12:43, 29 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I would also like to propose removing mention of brands with no wikilink per WP:INDISCRIMINATE or at least for brevity reasons. In light of that I slightly disagree on scrubbing Unilever entirely. Borgenland (talk) 12:52, 29 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm actually planning to re-add it later, since this source, which is already cited in the article, can support the VitaKeratin endorsement. I just don't know where to add it back since the Endorsement section is a complete mess, and I honestly don't know where to start. AstrooKai (Talk) 14:10, 29 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I’d suggest either a chronological order or separate by industry. I don’t why but I find it incredulous reading about them endorsing a Yumburger then a detergent next to the snacks shelf. Borgenland (talk) 14:17, 29 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Is it better if we turn the Endorsement section into a table, similar to SB19#Endorsements? AstrooKai (Talk) 14:31, 29 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm leaning so, although the notes section there looks like an eyesore for editors who are not fond of redundant prose. Borgenland (talk) 15:00, 29 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I agree to make endorsement section as table. Much organized than to long written. ROY is WAR Talk! 03:30, 1 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
