Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Hinduism
![]() | Points of interest related to Hinduism on Wikipedia: Outline – History – Portal – Category – WikiProject – Alerts – Deletions – Stubs – Assessment – To-do |
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Hinduism. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Hinduism|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Hinduism. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

[edit]- Consecration of the Ram Mandir (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
- (Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL)
The article is promotional about the event that failed to gain WP:LASTING coverage. The article on Ram Mandir is enough for any initial coverage. Orientls (talk) 09:45, 3 August 2025 (UTC)

- Delete - Ram Mandir#Consecration already has enough details. THEZDRX (User) | (Contact) 11:40, 3 August 2025 (UTC)
- Delete: The consecration did not have WP:LASTING coverage and is WP:UNDUE to have an article on itself. I agree with ZDRX that the Consecration section in the Ram Mandir article already has all the important and notable details of the event. EarthDude (wanna talk?) 11:47, 3 August 2025 (UTC)
- Merge into Ram Mandir#Consecration. The rationale for a standalone article is weak: the consecration needs to be mentioned in the parent article, but I don't see so much material that it cannot all be covered there. I don't see a case for outright deletion. Vanamonde93 (talk) 17:17, 3 August 2025 (UTC)

Stands on single source which is unreliable source, not enough coverage. Dolphish (talk) 04:45, 3 August 2025 (UTC)

- (Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL)
Unsourced, no media coverage found in g-search, not notable. Dolphish (talk) 03:46, 3 August 2025 (UTC)

- Delete: Before commenting, I conducted a search but couldn’t find anything (WP:BEFORE). I also checked Google Books, but there was no mention of the subject, not even a name reference in any of the books. Baqi:) (talk) 13:55, 3 August 2025 (UTC)
- Dhagi (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
- (Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL)
All of the sources are unreliable, not enough coverage. Dolphish (talk) 03:10, 3 August 2025 (UTC)

- Bhambi (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
- (Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL)
Hoax article, not notable, unsourced from long time. Dolphish (talk) 11:24, 1 August 2025 (UTC)

Comment:. Clearly not a hoax article. A simple Google search shows multiple mentions of the caste. For example, the caste is mentioned in the constitution of India (THE CONSTITUTION (SCHEDULED CASTES) ORDER, 19501 (C.O.19)) — ERcheck (talk) 04:47, 2 August 2025 (UTC)
- Leela Charitra (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
- (Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL)
Fails WP:N. No significant coverage in secondary sources for the content covered here for a standalone article. Also, this term can have different meanings, and better if covered on related articles. This page says "Leela Charitra is a biography of Chakradhar Swami", but no mention on Chakradhar Swami. If needed, a section can be added on Chakradhar Swami. - Keep It is mentioned on Chakradhar Swami page by its alternate spelling Lilacharitra - "According to his biography Lilacharitra,". "Lilacharitra is a remarkable text from several points of view. It is the first prose text avaialble in Marathi and also the first biographical work." [1] The text is important from a literary as well as religious perspective. - @Redtigerxyz oh thanks. Looked a bit more into this - I see mostly usage of Lilacharitra for this - Do you think then the page title Lilacharitra would be better? Asteramellus (talk) 13:28, 20 July 2025 (UTC)
- Yes IMO. Yesterday I thought I start a Wikipedia:RM, however would wait for the AfD to end. Redtigerxyz Talk 17:07, 20 July 2025 (UTC)

- Weak Keep per the findings of citations. I found two sources which are in Marathi language. [4] and [5]. Sooterout (talk) 06:27, 6 August 2025 (UTC)
