Question from Doofenberg (19:33, 14 February 2025)

Hi, um I had a question. How does one ask someone to make a new article, because a artist named John Clark Matthews might be eligible for a article. Sorry for the not terribly important question. --Doofenberg (talk) 19:33, 14 February 2025 (UTC)

@Doofenberg we are all volunteers, so if you think there should be an article; then perhaps you will be the one most inclined to create it. Welcome! Creating a new article from scratch is extremely challenging, and new editors are strongly recommended to spend a few months learning how Wikipedia works, by making improvements to some of our existing seven million articles before trying it. When you do decide to have a go at a new article, you are highly encouraged to read WP:Your first article. If you haven't already also check out WP:TUTORIAL; it's a lot of fun! Invitation to participate in research

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of a group of Wikipedians to better understand their experiences! We are also looking to interview some survey respondents in more detail, and you will be eligible to receive a thank-you gift for the completion of an interview. The outcomes of this research will shape future work designed to improve on-wiki experiences.

We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this survey, which shouldn’t take more than 2-3 minutes. You may view its privacy statement here. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Kind regards, Sam Walton (talk) 16:35, 10 March 2025 (UTC)

Question from SuperMateoWorld (07:08, 13 March 2025)

Hello! Happy to receive a message from you. I created a page “Kristel Elling” and it got rejected because I’m not very good at citing. Do you have any specific feedback regarding the mistakes I made? Thank you. --SuperMateoWorld (talk) 07:08, 13 March 2025 (UTC)

@SuperMateoWorld Every sentence/claim needs to have a citation in Draft:Kristel Elling, and in total, entire article needs to satisfy Wikipedia:Notability criteria. Is the subject notable by Wikipedia standards of significant coverage? We have 7 million articles right now. More broadly, I would also recommend making edits elsewhere on Wikipedia to see how other articles and policies work first.

Question from JamesEMonroe (04:16, 26 March 2025)

It's kind of frustrating dealing with all the bells and whistles of the fast plug in... I'm not sure what you call it.. things. It might be because I'm not used to it and don't know how to work around it but I prefer if I could just be allowed to type and cite where I want without a pop up. Maybe I'm just too used to academic papers it's a lot of times it feels like I cant move around things or change certain little things if I don't type it into a little thing that pops up. I'm just not sue how to deal with it. and doing the source editing doesn't show you everything as well, at least how I did it so I cant just type there --JamesEMonroe (talk) 04:16, 26 March 2025 (UTC)

@JamesEMonroe I feel you! Policy wise, there is no rule requiring any citation style or even consistency, but I highly recommend it. Personally, if I see an existing article I try to use the article's existing conventions. But if you are creating an article from scratch, feel free to use your own convention. Sometimes a link does not even exist. But if it does, it helps to provide it, so others can verify the claims. But you can leave attributes blank, if it's not your favorite thing. See Wikipedia:Citation templates are evil for a similar essay. 18:05, 29 March 2025 (UTC) ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 18:05, 29 March 2025 (UTC)

@Cardinal King Ecumenical Patriarch Amb Prof Dr Micheal Olusegun Ogedengbe PhDs welcome to Wikipedia. Please check out WP:TUTORIAL to learn more. I also would note that Wikipedia is not here to WP:PROMOTE yourself and that all claims must be WP:VERIFIABLE by reliable secondary sourcing. Question from Theanthonymovement (14:40, 21 April 2025)

Hi Shushugah,

I hope you are well! And appreciate the mentorship in publishing new articles on Wikipedia. I just wanted to get some of your thoughts on this article draft that's been rejected:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Homebase_(software)

It mentions that it appears more of an advertisement but I clearly cited and sticked to the facts (and also referenced other similar articles like this). Just wanted to see what specific sections/entries I can improve on so that it goes through approval more seamlessly.

Really appreciate your time! --Theanthonymovement (talk) 14:40, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

@Theanthonymovement hello, every claim is attributed to a source, the quality of the sources are not very high. Several of the sources are simply the website or blog posts close to the company. The sections about capital funding, number of customers are not interesting to most people, except the company itself. I would recommend reading WP:NPRODUCT and WP:PROMO and challenge you to show in future edit attempts, what makes this article notable and extensively covered in WP:secondary sourcing. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 02:22, 22 April 2025 (UTC)

Remote work laws

Chag Sameach! I hope all is well with you. Dutch law states that "Working from home is not a legal right. However, according to the Flexible Working Act...employees may submit a written request to work (partly) from home" and that employers "must have a good reason for refusing such a request." According to the World Economic Forum, a similar law was drafted in Germany. Do you know what became of it? Is this now codified under German law? Thank you. Bohemian Baltimore (talk) 18:59, 15 April 2025 (UTC)

Chag sameach @Bohemian Baltimore, "Mobilearbeit" does not have a concrete legal definition or regulation for the most part still. In the Works Constitution Act, Section 87, Paragraph 1. Sentence 14 does newly refer to principles of mobile work being regulatable in a works agreement. So if the employer refuses mobile work for anyone, then the only possibility would be if it was guaranteed in individual labor contractors, but there's no laws mandating this. This is not to be confused with "telework" which is travelling work, for example sales-people or others who travel for work. There, it's regulated within Telearbeitsgesetz. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 19:58, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
@Shushugah Thank you for the clarification. The remote work article has a brief "Legal aspects" section that doesn't really give global coverage of laws and regulations related to remote work. I was trying to think of a name for a separate article. Remote work laws? Remote work legislation? Remote work regulations? Maybe Legal aspects of remote work? I'm not quite sure yet. Bohemian Baltimore (talk) 02:12, 17 April 2025 (UTC)
Legal aspects of remote work is my favorite name as the other article titles would indicate a simple list. But all are reasonable to have as redirects either way. I'd be happy to give some of them a gloss over. I think tax residency/evasion, digital nomadism, health and safety are all legal considerations on top of explicit remote work legislation. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 02:24, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
