Update: New Event-Organizer Tools for You on English Wikipedia!
[edit]Hello,
I hope you're doing well! As an event coordinator on English Wikipedia, I’m happy to share some news with you. You now have the event-organizer right! This gives you access to the CampaignEvents extension, a powerful set of tools to help you organize and promote events and WikiProjects more easily. With the CampaignEvents extension, you can:
- Manage event registration directly on English Wikipedia.
- Use the Invitation List tool to find potential participants for your events/WikiProjects
- Receive automatic promotion of your events via the Collaboration List
Learn more on mw:Help:Extension:CampaignEvents
Now that I have your attention, I’d also like to share some updates to the extension:
- The Collaboration List can now be transcluded, meaning you can easily embed it on other wiki pages to share event details with more people by adding {{Special:AllEvents}}. Learn more.
- Admins can now determine which namespaces are permitted for Event Registration on English Wikipedia, via Special:CommunityConfiguration. Right now, the Event namespace is permitted by default for Event Registration. However, other namespaces (such as Wikipedia, WikiProject, etc) can now be added as permitted namespaces by admins too. This can help other types of organized activities, such as WikiProjects, use Event Registration. For details, please visit: Permitted_namespaces
If you need help using these new tools, I’m here to support you. Feel free to reach out for guidance. You can also find some useful video guides on Commons.
We’re excited to see how you use these tools for WikiProjects or events! If you have any questions, please let me know.

Interface administrator changes
- Following an RfC, administrator elections were permanently authorized on a five-month schedule. The next election will be scheduled soon; see Wikipedia talk:Administrator elections for more information. This is an alternate process to the RfA process and does not replace the latter.
- An RfC was closed with consensus to allow editors to opt-out of seeing "sticky decorative elements". Such elements should now be wrapped in {{sticky decoration wrapper}}. Editors who wish to opt out can follow the instructions at WP:STICKYDECO.
- An RfC has resulted in a broad prohibition on the use of AI-generated images in articles. A few common-sense exceptions are recognized.
- A New Pages Patrol backlog drive is happening in May 2025 to reduce the backlog of articles in the new pages feed. Sign up here to participate!

Question from JamesEMonroe (22:32, 12 May 2025)
[edit]Hey, I want to be in good faith. There's this article; Gun control, and it has soo many sources that I dont even know what to do with or how to fix the article. It feels too bulky but management didn't put up a box for it. I also would had to remove all of there hard work and so many sources, or at least summarize and condense a lot of them, it something I would be bad about and I might get nicked for unconstructive. Do you have any advice? you can look at the article yourself. Regardless of the article, I would want to know what to do for future reference.
Also with that article I'm kind of stuck. It already has a lot of sources and information on studies, so I cant add new countries to it. The sources are the bulk of the paper and there's mostly research for one-side, and it would be insanity to match what is on the supportive with the already huge amount of studies. I cant add information about specify laws or gun control because it will conflict with the purpose of gun laws of nations article where it goes into detail about what is enacted. talking about the controversy would surely get someone upset. Trying to format it into a good article would talk removing a lot of person work too. so basically there's nothing I can do. I'm also new to it so idk the consensuses, I checked the achieves and learned of things not to do but its probably not everything too. (unrelated to this article but also what do you do for editing if the admins say no consensus and locked the talk thread saying it derailed enough and ran its course)
I'm curious of your thoughts --JamesEMonroe (talk) 22:32, 12 May 2025 (UTC)

helooo Please how do i edits an article with an error in date --Reallasun (talk) 15:58, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Reallasun Welcome to Wikipedia! If the WP:SOURCE says a different date than the article, you should WP:BOLDLY edit it. You should be able to edit most articles already, but sometimes there is a WP:PROTECTION level, which requires more experience. In such cases, you can make an {{Edit request}}. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 08:54, 19 May 2025 (UTC)

Hello, what's the benefit of contributing to the article correction --Rishab369 (talk) 04:27, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Rishab369 everyone has a different motivation. For me, it's a mix of seeing topics I am interested in reflect the breadth and precision I would expect from an encyclopedia. For others, it's about bragging rights, perhaps view count etc.. at the end of the day, we're all contributing to the largest encyclopedia. That's a big vision and requires many incremental improvements! ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 21:14, 26 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from CaidKirven on Darlington, South Carolina (13:59, 28 May 2025)
[edit]Hello I am trying to attach a notable person with a Wikipedia page to Darlington, SC Notable People and my addition does not seem to be acceptable. --CaidKirven (talk) 13:59, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
- @CaidKirven welcome to Wikipedia. Editors sometimes disagree without understanding the policies. The relevant policy is at WP:NLIST and typically includes existing articles. Whether a subject is notable for an article would depend on WP:GNG. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 14:21, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
- Will it be reviewed again? My information is solid and correct. James Elliott Williams was born in Rock Hill, SC, but moved to Darlington when he was four months old and was then raised in Darlington through high school graduation. CaidKirven (talk) 21:17, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
- I looked at the edit history and cannot see where you previously attempted to add it, but I would agree with you it is notable. Please also copy the source used in James Elliott Williams article for the Darlington, South Carolina § Notable people section. An edit here would be instant and does not need to be reviewed. Like all wikipedia edits however, someone else may disagree or improve on top. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 08:40, 29 May 2025 (UTC)

Growth News #34
[edit]
A quarterly update from the Growth team on our work to improve the new editor experience.
Mentoring new editors
[edit]In February, Mentorship was successfully rolled out to 100% of newcomers on English Wikipedia. Following this milestone, we collaborated with Spanish Wikipedia to expand Mentorship coverage to 70% of new accounts, with plans to reach 85% soon unless concerns are raised by mentors. (T394867)
“Add a Link” Task – Iteration and Experimentation
[edit]Our efforts to improve and scale the “Add a Link” structured task continued across multiple fronts:
- Community Feedback & Model Improvements: We’ve responded to community concerns with targeted changes:
- Restricting access to newer accounts (T393688)
- Some links types were removed to align with recommendations written in the English Wikipedia Manual of Style (T390683)
- Allowing communities to limit “Add a Link” to newcomers (T393771)
- The model used to suggest the links was improved to ease its training (T388258)
- English Wikipedia rollout and A/B test: We increased the rollout to 20% of newcomers, with analysis underway. Preliminary data suggests this feature makes new account holders more likely to complete an unreverted edit. (T386029, T382603)
- Surfacing Structured Tasks: An experiment where we show “add a link” suggestions to newly registered users while they are reading an article is running on pilot wikis (French, Persian, Indonesian, Portuguese, Egyptian Arabic). Initial results are under analysis. (T386029)
Newcomer Engagement Features
[edit]- “Get Started” notification: Engineering is in progress for a new notification (Echo/email) to encourage editing among newcomers with zero edits. Early research shows this type of nudge is effective. (T392256)
- Confirmation email: We are exploring ways to simplify and improve the initial account confirmation email newly registered users receive. (T215665)
Community Configuration Enhancements
[edit]Communities can now manage which namespaces are eligible for Event Registration via Community Configuration. (T385341)
Annual Planning
[edit]The Wikimedia Foundation’s 2025–2026 Annual Plan is taking shape. The Growth and Editing teams will focus on the Contributor Experiences (WE1) objective, with a focus on increasing constructive edits by editors with fewer than 100 cumulative contributions.
Get Involved
[edit]We value your insights and ideas! If you would like to participate in a discussion, share feedback, or pilot new features, please reach out on the relevant Phabricator tasks or at our talk page, in any language.

Hello, The subject of this website, the dates of rulers dated by the Ganga Era was covered by new research by myself. This is "The Epoch Date of the Ganga Era", ZDMG 171 (2021) 425-458. I found that the Ganga Era began in the year 607, and not in the year 498, as had been previously assumed. This means that all the dates of rulers given in your website must be changed. Creating a new article from scratch is extremely challenging, and new editors are strongly recommended to spend a few months learning how Wikipedia works, by making improvements to some of our existing seven million articles before trying it. When you do decide to have a go at a new article, you are highly encouraged to read Help:Your first article. If you haven't already also check out the tutorial; it's a lot of fun! Happy editing! ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 01:12, 30 June 2025 (UTC)

- I am not! Most Wikipedia editors are quite private about their lives which is a good default. I choose to be quite public with my real life identity. Up to you to ascertain whether I am AI or not. Hello! I had put together an article in my user sandbox page and wanted to publish it. I got an automated filter that did not let it get published. It is for a chair of a law firm which I am working in partnership with, however, the information is all direct and factual in my opinion. Please let me know how I can proceed. --Ggevaart1 (talk) 15:35, 14 July 2025 (UTC)

[edit]How Do You Make Infoboxes Like For Birth, Death, Nationality Or Stuff Like That? --Jesushow6ENG (talk) 20:02, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Jesushow6ENG check out {{Infobox person}}. There are more specific ones listed at Wikipedia:List of infoboxes e.g {{Infobox artist}} but the general idea is the same. Sometimes it pulls in data from wikidata, and sometimes from user-input on English Wikipedia. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 09:23, 24 July 2025 (UTC)

- Raf1771's mentor Capsulecap is away.
Hi Shushugah,
I’ve been working on an article about my employer, Ron Rivlin, which is currently in my userspace sandbox. I’ve disclosed my conflict of interest, as I work for Revolver Gallery, though the initiative to create this article was entirely mine.
Ron has received significant media coverage in recent years — particularly in connection with art authentication and the loss of his collection in the 2025 Palisades Fire — and Revolver Gallery already has its own Wikipedia page, so I thought this might be a good time to tell Wikipedia readers more about him.
Before I formally propose the article for the mainspace, I’d really appreciate any guidance you might have on how best to proceed or improve it for consideration.
Thanks so much for your time and help!
Best,
Raf1771 --Raf1771 (talk) 21:22, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Raf1771 Welcome to Wikipedia. I do not see where you disclosed you WP:PAID conflict of interest in User:Raf1771/sandbox. Typically it should be on the talk page of the article e.g User talk:Raf1771/sandbox or your user page User:Raf1771. As for the draft itself, it is generally well written and tone wise not too promotional. There are some sections without any citation for example Publications and Personal life. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 16:56, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for your feedback, Shushugah! I'll add those citations to the sections you pointed out. In the meanwhile, I've updated my User page and talk pages to clearly disclose my conflict of interest status as an employee of Revolver Gallery, which was founded by Ron Rivlin. If I haven't done this correctly, please let me know. Raf1771 (talk) 18:28, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
