Autopatrolled granted

Hi Dracophyllum, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.
Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.
Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! —Femke 🐦 (talk) 16:04, 7 April 2025 (UTC)
Nothofagus menziesii
Hi, Dracophyllum. I had the opportunity to visit Westland this weekend and managed to photograph D. menziesii and N. menziesii on my hike today (both are really spectacular species). Feel free to do a c/e to fix up any awkward stuff in the article etc. :-) Alexeyevitch(talk) 07:46, 12 April 2025 (UTC)

WikiCup 2025 May newsletter
The second round of the 2025 WikiCup ended on 28 April at 23:59 UTC. To reiterate what we said in the previous newsletter, we are no longer disqualifying contestants based on how many points (now known as round points) they received. Instead, the contestants with the highest round-point totals now receive tournament points at the end of each round. These tournament points are carried over between rounds, and can only be earned if a competitor is among the top 16 round-point scorers at the end of each round. This table shows all competitors who have received tournament points so far. Everyone who competed in round 2 will advance to round 3 unless they have withdrawn or been banned.
Round 2 was quite competitive. Four contestants scored more than 1,000 round points, and eight scored more than 500 points (including one who has withdrawn). The following competitors scored at least 800 points:
BeanieFan11 (submissions) with 1,233 round points from 24 good articles, 28 Did you know articles, and one In the news nomination, mainly about athletes and politicians
Thebiguglyalien (submissions) with 1,127 round points, almost entirely from two high-multiplier featured articles on Black Widow (Natasha Romanova) and Grace Coolidge, in addition to two GAs and two reviews
History6042 (submissions) with 1,088 round points from four featured lists about Michelin-starred restaurants, nine good articles and a good topic mostly on Olympic-related subjects, seven ITN articles, and dozens of reviews
Gog the Mild (submissions) with 1,085 round points from three FAs, one GA, and four DYKs on military history, as well as 18 reviews
Arconning (submissions) with 887 round points, mostly from four FLs, six GAs, and seven DYKs on Olympic topics, along with more than two dozen reviews
In addition, we would like to recognize Generalissima (submissions) for her efforts; she scored 801 round points but withdrew before the end of the round.
The full scores for round 2 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 13 featured articles, 20 featured lists, 4 featured-topic articles, 138 good articles, 7 good-topic articles, and more than 100 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 19 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 300 reviews.
Remember that any content promoted after 28 April but before the start of Round 3 can be claimed in Round 3. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. DYK for Trunk (botany)
On 3 May 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Trunk (botany), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that people in parts of India, North America, and Africa marry tree trunks? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Trunk (botany). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Trunk (botany)), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Question
Why was the review for Koskotas scandal closed? I have been waiting for feedback. Other articles were much older. So it is not quite clear to me why the review was closed. Was the article in such good or bad shape that it was beyond review? Was it placed in the wrong topic? Should I resubmit it for review, or should I submit it for GA review? Apologies if I did something wrong, but I need clarification to understand better the processes. Thank you. A.Cython (talk) 14:33, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
- @A.Cython Feel free to resubmit another peer review. there is no bot that does it so I've just been archiving all inactive (for 28 days) PRs. apologies, Dracophyllum, (1 PR) 21:14, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
- No worries. I understand, for a moment i thought i did something wrong. I better ask someone to review first next time. Thank for your response.A.Cython (talk) 21:19, 9 May 2025 (UTC)

Hey! Hope you're doing fine.
I see you closed a peer review page due to inactivity. I don't know why, but I wasn't notified about the replies and couldn't answer in time, but I still want to move forward.
How can I reopen the discussion?
Thanks a lot!

Fair use photos
Hi! Sorry, just noticed your mention of possibly adding a fair use photo. There are photos of the Garbage Offensive, all copyrighted. My impression of the guidelines is that, unless there is some other very good reason, fair use on Wikipedia primarily applies to: a) pictures used in articles where the picture is the topic of discussion, b) same for sculptures/possibly buildings, c) brief excerpts from videos/songs that are discussed in the article, d) covers, e) logos, and f) portraits of people. Is there a particular fair use justification you think would work for this photo, for example? Thanks again for the review! Spookyaki (talk) 00:28, 16 May 2025 (UTC)
- "No free equivalent. Non-free content is used only where no free equivalent is available, or could be created, that would serve the same encyclopedic purpose." per "where only by including such non-free content, can the reader identify an object, style, or behavior, that is a subject of discussion in the article." Perhaps it is debatable, but I can see it being useful. The term garbage offensive itself is intriguing and confusing, so an image is needed to show it. (Does it mean a clean-up effort (attack on trash) or an offensive using garbage?, what garbage, in what way, where. etc). cheers, Dracophyllum 00:38, 16 May 2025 (UTC)
- Okay, gave it a shot. Thanks for the recommendation! Spookyaki (talk) 01:39, 16 May 2025 (UTC)
