I Know What You Did Last Summer
Hi @Doniago, we seem to be in disagreement about the most appropriate short description for I Know What You Did Last Summer. Can you tell me what you specifically object to with respect to my preferred s/d, i.e., "1997 American slasher film"? Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 03:09, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
- There was a fairly recent discussion at WT:FILM about shortdescs for film articles where the consensus seemed to be that, other than the year, we should really only be adding enough text to sufficiently disambiguate the film. Nationality and genre, in particular, are typically unnecessary (I'd be more likely to support adding the director if it was a choice). This seems to be in accordance with WP:SHORTDESC. In other words, for many films, perhaps most, really, "XXXX film" is all that's needed. Generally we shouldn't be making shortdescs longer than they need to be to clarify what the article is about. - Would you be able to point me to the specific discussion? I can't see it at a cursory glance. Cheers! Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 03:54, 25 April 2025 (UTC)

Request for dispute resolution
Hi, we cannot seem to come to a decision with User:ZanderAlbatraz1145 despite consensus agreeing to remove the information on the Marty Supreme page. I sought out other editors to weigh in for consensus but User:ZanderAlbatraz1145 refused the decision and accused me of bias and personal relations with the sought out editors. Myself and one other editor decided to remove the irrelevant information completely, meanwhile a 3rd editor tried to reconstruct the information to one paragraph but decided afterwards we could remove it we see fit. This leaves 3 editors in favour of removing the information against one. But User:ZanderAlbatraz1145 has vehemently refused. Please help with a dispute resolution if you can, or kindly point me in the direction of someone who can, to prevent further edit warring. We have been at this for weeks now and I’m so tired. - As you're aware, I've offered my thoughts on this dispute, but I'll reiterate that I think reaching out directly to editors versus asking for additional opinions at WP:FILM was a misstep. DonIago (talk) 16:57, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
- I’m fairly new to editing and was unaware of the right way to address the problem. I will familiarize myself with all you have mentioned in the event of any more issues. Thank you again for weighing in and helping out with a solution. Soe743edits (talk) 17:00, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
- Fair enough. I don't agree with how Zander approached things here, but approaching specific editors to try to get them to partcipate in a dispute can appear to be canvassing, especially when you're arguably prejudicing them upfront by going into detail about the dispute, and it wouldn't be unreasonable for Zander to question whether you were pointedly asking editors to join the discussion who you had reason to suspect would support your views. For this reason, when approaching someplace like WP:FILM to ask for involvement, it's also best to word the request as neutrally as possible. Let editors interested in the situation review the dispute for themselves and draw their own conclusions. Hope this helps! DonIago (talk) 03:03, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- Like I mentioned already, I am fairly new and only sought out a way to end the edit warring. I also do not know any of these editors personally, nor did I “prejudice them upfront” or go into details on their talk pages. I simply sought out a few recent editors to the Marty Supreme page and requested very neutrally on their talk pages, that they weigh in on the consensus.
- If they supported my stand, it is only right, as it was very clear that such irrelevant information did not belong on the page.
- The only users I may have gone into details with on their talk pages, were, you; because I noticed you had previously warned them for disruptive editing, and an admin for dispute resolution because I wanted to bring the dispute to any available admin’s attention and have it resolved as soon as possible. If this wasn’t the right way, noted. I will make sure to follow the correct procedures in the future. Soe743edits (talk) 04:06, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
