Upcoming expiry of your patroller right

[edit]

Hi, this is an automated reminder as part of Global reminder bot to let you know that your permission "patroller" (New page reviewers) will expire on 00:00, 3 May 2025 (UTC). For most rights, you will need to renew at WP:PERM, unless you have been told otherwise when your right was approved. To opt out of user right expiry notifications, add yourself to m:Global reminder bot/Exclusion. Leaderbot (talk) 19:41, 26 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

New page reviewer granted

[edit]

Hi ViridianPenguin, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the new page reviewer user right to your account. This means you now have access to the page curation tools and can start patrolling pages from the new pages feed. If you asked for this at requests for permissions, please check back there to see if your access is time-limited or if there are other comments.

This is a good time to re-acquaint yourself with the guidance at Wikipedia:New pages patrol. Before you get started, please take the time to:

You can find a list of other useful links and tools for patrollers at Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Resources. If you are ever unsure what to do, ask your fellow patrollers or just leave the page for someone else to review – you're not alone! Sohom (talk) 22:22, 26 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2025 May newsletter

[edit]

The second round of the 2025 WikiCup ended on 28 April at 23:59 UTC. To reiterate what we said in the previous newsletter, we are no longer disqualifying contestants based on how many points (now known as round points) they received. Instead, the contestants with the highest round-point totals now receive tournament points at the end of each round. These tournament points are carried over between rounds, and can only be earned if a competitor is among the top 16 round-point scorers at the end of each round. This table shows all competitors who have received tournament points so far. Everyone who competed in round 2 will advance to round 3 unless they have withdrawn or been banned.

Round 2 was quite competitive. Four contestants scored more than 1,000 round points, and eight scored more than 500 points (including one who has withdrawn). The following competitors scored at least 800 points:

In addition, we would like to recognize Generalissima (submissions) for her efforts; she scored 801 round points but withdrew before the end of the round.

The full scores for round 2 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 13 featured articles, 20 featured lists, 4 featured-topic articles, 138 good articles, 7 good-topic articles, and more than 100 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 19 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 300 reviews.

Remember that any content promoted after 28 April but before the start of Round 3 can be claimed in Round 3. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. I just want to say thank you again, you've been so reasonable, and I see that you have tried and tried to reach some kind of compromise at the FAC, but it's clear they are having none of it. That does not in any way reflect on the value of your efforts, which I thought were really great suggestions, so I hope you won't let it bug you. You are awesome, and I hope we have the opportunity to work together - without interference - another time. If you ever need any help or support with anything at all, please give me the chance to be that person for you. Jenhawk777 (talk) 03:58, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Likewise, I sincerely appreciate all the effort you put into improving this vital article! Regardless of how this third nomination goes, no one can take away that you made this important topic much more comprehensive and concise than when you found it. Wishing you continued success in your future endeavors! ViridianPenguin🐧 (💬) 14:33, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know if you noticed in the wall of text, but I supported the changes you suggested to UC. I thought they were both good. Plus, it is necessary that you strike your "comments" heading and change it to upvote. The coordinators have told me not to worry about the Oppose, but I am! Changed the section header! ViridianPenguin🐧 (💬) 16:20, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

List of France international footballers (1–4 caps)

[edit]

Following your logic, then you also have to PROD the following articles: List of Albania international footballers (1–24 caps), List of Austria international footballers (1–24 caps), List of Belgium international footballers (1–4 caps), List of Belgium international footballers (5–20 caps), List of Denmark international footballers (1–24 caps), List of England international footballers with one cap, List of England international footballers (2–3 caps), List of England international footballers (4–9 caps), List of Norway international footballers with one cap, List of Norway international footballers (2–9 caps), List of Norway international footballers (10–24 caps), List of Scotland international footballers with one cap, List of Scotland international footballers (2–3 caps), and List of Scotland international footballers (4–9 caps).

Therefore, you have to either remove your PROD from France, or you PROD all of the above. There is no middle ground. Simple as that. Kind regards. Barr Theo (talk) 21:59, 5 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Barr, I appreciate the well-researched reply. I agree that if List of France international footballers (1–4 caps) deserves deletion under my rationale, so do all of these. I still think that only the "List of [Country] international footballers" articles satisfy WP:NLIST, not these side articles for those with fewer appearances than the parent page cuts off at. However, if the practice is so widespread, it clearly deserves discussion with a WP:MULTIAFD, so I have retracted the PROD and will prepare that. ViridianPenguin🐧 (💬) 22:13, 5 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
