In the edit window, certainly. Probably needs to be fixed. Haven't seen you 'round the usual places lately. (though you were at ANI a while back!) How is the wiki (and life) treating you? sonia♫10:01, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, didn't expect such a quick answer! So the line breaks in JCIDS at the end of the sentences are ignored? I went through the 'Actors' Section and removed all the line breaks, was that a waste of my time? Thought it might look 'ragged' on a wide screen?
• Wikis OK. Recently updated an article about a Finnish bridge that had sagged, but the article didn't mention it had been demolished since! Also fiddling around with articles about Radio-controlled helicopters, Miniature helicopters and similar. Getting a bit more active after going a bit quiet a week ago (one edit a day!) Lifes a bit...meh! (What does that mean exactly?) • Where are your 'Mountain Adventure' pics? 220.101talk\Contribs10:49, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
Only double line breaks actually register. My screen's under 12" anyway, so I wouldn't be able to tell :P But certainly not a waste of time, as it would be a pain for me or anyone else to have to adapt to that while editing the article, and it breaks some formatting.
(Meh? See here.) Pics? I didn't have my camera, and am still attempting to wrangle photos from my friends! The six of us liked each other's company so much we're organising another two tramps, one in Sept and one in Oct. Should be good.
I have quite a full performance schedule and a tonofpaperwork to complete between now and the end of November, so I'll likely be a little less active than usual. Still a lot of things I want to work on (like this and this), so I won't be keeping away altogether. :) sonia♫11:18, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
Double breaks—Ahh, makes sense, now! "under 12"! Oh, must be a laptop (or phone?) MEH is on WP too! • Well, first things first re paperwork. Scholarship?, the Sorbonne perhaps? (Ooh! an unreferenced article! since 2005?!) • Had a squiz at ANI. OMG, been a bit busy there (Sven70 etc), I usually look at it regularly. Ref Desk too, where I saw you replying re Thumb drives! • I too will be a bit busier off-wiki for the next few weeks. Oh well! D'oh!220.101talk\Contribs11:55, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, needed that ping. It's an Acer TravelMate, looks like this. 5 years old so it's a bit slow, taken a few knocks along the way. Schol- no, just renewing it. (They're revamping the system, so I have to sit a whole set of new exams as well as filling out those endless forms) Well, concert tomorrow, so it's good night from me. sonia♫10:19, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
I swear, 220.101, you jinxed me. I broke my A string just before we began playing, and had to spend the rest of the concert improvising while trying to keep my bow strokes in time with the other cellos! <bad pun>At least I didn't break my G string this time...</pun> The laptop is exactly 12.1", I just checked. sonia♫05:43, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
Yes, really, truly! I'm the cello on the outermost just above the audience as well, so I had to fake it convincingly. Most interesting performance I've ever done, I tell you. We played a piece by a local composer that was reminiscent of those old nursery songs (Polly put the kettle on, London Bridge, etc etc) and some children in the audience began to sing along...! sonia♫06:11, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
Love Macbeth. Shakespeare in general, but Macbeth's my favourite of the tragedies, the Merchant of Venice for the comedies. (We just found out we won an award for that particular performance, so apparently breaking a string was good luck!) About Mr. Hellcat, most obvious socking ever. He obviously hasn't got very much experience with trying to cause trouble... quite surreal, really. Also: I went to see Inception with a friend (it was his second time seeing it), quite enjoyed it. Two of my favourite topics- the subconscious mind, and the possible existence of parallel worlds underneath this one (and maybe even above!) It's nicely put together, and I actually ended up liking DiCaprio in it as well. sonia♫07:32, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
Hi Sonia. Aha! od='outdent' Where on Earth Prime are you learning these obscure magicks? I am looking forward to Tomorrow When the War Began (film), which begins, tomorrow actually here in Oz. Parallel worlds hm? There is a novel set in NZ about such a thing, cannot think of the name, not a major work/author/publisher AFAIR. Farnhams Freehold + The Door into Summer are good and excellent stories respectively by Robert Heinlein on this subject, mixed with time travel which is practically the same thing, ie. altering the time line so unpleasant future does not occur, at least in you own time-line. Worldwar: In the Balance and others from the Worldwar series are acceptable, alternate History novels but not up to Heinlein IMHO.
• As for some RABid editors, I was surprised it took so long to block em! Actually saying we are gonna 'get' you or screw around with WP? Bang, instantly blocked I would think!
I "mimed" for a good hour or so. What would happen were I to attempt to rewrite the "M-cb-th" articles?
I remember reading Tomorrow when the War Began years ago- loved the title at first sight when the school library acquired the series. (Dating myself here, aren't I?) There hasn't been too much hype here over the movie, but I do intend to see it at some stage. Time travel = fantastic plot device if done properly. Sometimes it's been absolutely butchered. I'll take your advice re good reads- you have pretty good taste.
RAB: I think the block took so long to come because the admins were too busy laughing... However they were going to "eliminate" me, I'm looking forward to finding out. :) sonia♫08:58, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
Miming ≡ Acting! And apparently you don't say that plays name if you are in it! You say The Scottish Play or the The Bard's Play(Didn't know that one!) "According to a theatrical superstition, called the Scottish curse, speaking the name Macbeth inside a theatre will cause disaster." You probably know all this, you are a Librarian after all. The Door into Summer is a bit of a love story too! Highly recommended if you haven't read it! 220.101talk\Contribs09:17, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
No, as the IP can be re-assigned at any time, that would be a huge security breach. If this user wanted to be an admin, they would likely sign up, though Pilif12p : Yo 23:54, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
No, I don't think so as per Pilif12p: "the IP can be re-assigned at any time." (though I have had the same IP for 11 months, and 27 days.
I noted the comments re Adminship on your talk page. I would strongly suggest; 1) Not seeming too eager to be an admin, 2) Getting a lot more editing experience, including in areas such as anti vandal work and reporting, Username reporting ie wp:UAA (You can wp:welcome new users too when checking for username violations) 3) Wait for an established editor to nominate or suggest you for Adminship. They'll probably start suggesting it, when they think you are ready. 4) Look at a few RfA's to see what even well known editors go through, it can be harsh! 5) Try to create some good articles or other content creation. 6) Use edit summaries! Strike that!, you've created a load of articles! Sorry I didn't check! (I haven't actually created any, though I have greatly expanded a few biographies! nb. putting a : at the start of your post 'tabs' or spaces it out from the left side. So if you reply to me you should use :: so your reply is spaced out further than mine. (standard practice on discussion pages!) 220.101talk\Contribs01:34, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Try to pronounce TFOWR, "T'FOWER?". TUOFER is easier(or 2FER). Perhap its the French acronym? (No that's CDREUF-Ce drapeau était rouge une fois). Why would I not want a young lady to follow me around? Don't exist!! Hmph! I edit, therefore I AM! (I even have a Red Flag!) - 220.101talk\Contribs04:27, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
This flag once was (but now it's )! FWIW, I think of my username as "T-fower" - not sure if that helps? TFOWR10:41, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
For some reason I've always thought T-WOF-R not T-FOW-R. I've reversed the middle letters haven't I, Wiki-dyslexia?. Had a look at NZ Flag debate, didn't know it was going on like here. Is that Grutness's flag design? Have any of your 'rellies' been impacted by the Quake? 220.101talk\Contribs11:04, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
Why are we whispering? ;-) TWOFR is an easy mistake - one of these days I'll register it as a doppelganger account. One of these days... it took me weeks just to get round to TFOWR's right sock (talk)... My rellies are all fine - I did spend that day checking. Re: the flag debate, I like Hundertwasser's design (and I love his Kawakawa public toilet...!) but my preference, as always, is for a black flag worldwide. I'm in a minority, however... I'd settle for NZ becoming a republic... TFOWR11:16, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
Nice Dunny entrance, is the interior as...interesting? His 'Curly' flag looks alright. Black probably doesn't show up very well, most flags are likely more colourful? Shhh, maybe Sonia won't hear us, she has assignments to do! 220.101talk\Contribs11:38, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
You'll have to take my word for it that the men's interior is very colourful. I do have a picture of the women's interior, which seems just as bold ;-) The advantage of liking black flags is that at dusk all flags are black. The disadvantage is that a few minutes later black flags become invisible :-( TFOWR18:19, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
And you have my word that the women's toilet is also fascinatingly bright. I really like this flag, out of the choices- Hundertwasser's seems a little too- well, mathematical for me. Not as dynamic. 220.101, you're not disturbing me from anything- I've just got performances left. And alcohol-lemon experimenting in between... it doesn't go with rosé (my drink of choice) at all. :P sonia♫04:21, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
Would you believe that I was replying to TFOWR 'CDREUF' at the exact same time you posted here Sonia? Amazing. I must check my tin-foil cap for leakage. Good thing I checked, lest the dreaded edit conflict pop my fuses. BTW Davtra (talk) is semi-retired! 220.101talk\Contribs04:39, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
Right, I'm stopping whispering because Sonia's clearly not studying ;-) Sonia, I kind of agree about Hundertwasser's flag: I like the koru symbol, partly because it's a bit fractal-y, but I'm not keen on the colours. Kyle Lockwood's flag is better, but again I'm not completely keen. I'd like something black, or black and red - I like the Tino Rangatiratanga flag, for example (actually, I love it). But there's no way most of New Zealand would accept it, as it's so heavily part of Maori identity. (I'd lovethis flag, too, but suspect most of New Zealand wouldn't... pity!) I think we need red to keep Maori happy, but NZ could probably get away with a largely black flag with some red.
On the subject of lemon, I prefer whiskey neat, but honey-and-lemon in cheap whiskey goes well when I have a cold! Apart from that - alcoholic lemonade! It's great!
Davtra semi-retired? I've half-a-mind to issue a warning, followed by a block, if they don't get their act together, but I'll have to concede that real-life commitments do come first.
220.101 - I saw you post at Talk:Ireland - run away! Run away fast! You're a braver editor than me! I made the mistake of "volunteering" at WT:BISE: I won't make that mistake again in a hurry ;-) Several hundred years of strife, and I thought I could resolve it in a day or two... big mistake... TFOWR14:38, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
Looks like it's "Kick An Admin Day", and HJ and you are the receivers! I was going to drop you this same message as I see your talk is unprotected at the moment (tin-foil cap leakage?). IMHO editors are being more than a bit unfair on HJ (over his edit summary in particular) as it was getting real late, like 4.40 AM his local! How many of those 'condemning' him put in as much time for Wikipedia as HJ does? Yes, I was surprised that an event that was apparently so 'pivotal' in Irelands history was unlinked. Or do you mean my crack about the arguing discussing? I shall be wary of anyone I meet with an Irish accent. I think Sonias off 'tramping' again, as she puts it (or maybe she meant next weekend?) UzT for me so if you reply, don't be surprised if I don't!- 220.101talk\Contribs15:22, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
I try and keep my talkpage unprotected as much as possible - if it is ever protected it tends to be for very short periods - but I'm much less of a target than HJ. Most of the serious stuff I do at the moment is at WT:BISE, and that doesn't attract idiots to my talkpage. (The WT:BISE folk are all long-term editors, by-and-large). Incidentally, don't think I was warning you off Ireland or anything related - most definitely not, just that it's an area that scares me ;-)
I don't think I've been kicked that hard, I deserved what I got, and learnt from it. HJ seems to be living proof that "no good deed goes unpunished". As far as I can see HJ followed policy, did something beneficial, and now gets abused for it. I take on board the idea that HJ should have run it past, say, WP:AN first, but really - there's a list of pages that are highly used yet unprotected, and then we complain that HJ protects pages on the list? Come on! Still, HJ is big enough and ugly enough to take it on the chin. He'll bounce back. Anyway - get some sleep! TFOWR15:31, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
<grumble>Well, you could at least make it a bit easier for this young lady to follow you around...</grumble> In your response to Wayne above- of course you haven't created any articles, you can't. Get an account and that can be fixed very quickly. Or would you need to have a username brainstorming session first? Should I start a petition to make you an account? :P sonia♫06:25, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
I thought the 'pending changes' trial was over? Please don't ever let me keep you away from you composing assignments. I shall be very cross if that happens! >:-( I haven't had a great desire to create any articles. Plenty to do expandin' n' fixin'. If I need to I know those who can help. User:Mjroots has dibs on any 'get-an-account petition! Are you feeling better? 220.101talk\Contribs07:11, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
I've finished my last two compositions for this semester- I just have to get into the studio to record them. (Haven't been well enough to sing yet for the one with words, so I'll have to wait.) Now it's just a flurry of performances, and what they call "immersion"- critiquing tons of different music as a group and individually, drawing from the historical context. I heard Douglas Lilburn's Nine Short Pieces a week or so ago and was quite taken by it, I'm looking to buy a CD to add to my "study music" pile. Right now I'm listening to this. Have you heard it? :)
Migraines have gone away, but the cough is being a persistent little bugger. Should be fine by next weekend (or I hope I am, since I'm going on another tramp.) Thanks for the concern and wikithanks :) sonia♫07:46, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
Migraine ugh! Hang in there, lots of Whisky and lemon (medicinal purposes only of course!) I wonder if lemon goes with port? Some OR required methinks! 220.101talk\Contribs08:10, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
I wouldn't recommend mixing lemon and anything coming from grapes, but then again, lemon and Scotch sounds undrinkable to me, so what do I know? (I say drink the Scotch and the Port the way they come, and save the lemon for a nice cuppa.) Courcelles18:22, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
Obviously, IP addresses can't be administrators. But there is a compromise. You could create an account called 220_101_28_25, or some such, and then if your underlying IP changed it wouldn't matter. ←Baseball BugsWhat's up, Doc?carrots→ 21:58, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
A 'Bugs'. Ain't he cute?
Hey, it's Bugs! Very nice to hear from you. (First time on 'my' talk I think.) Up above someone actually thinks my talk page is funnier than yours! (see "What a comedy page!" above) • It's a shame the 'great powers' of Wikipedia can't (or won't?) transfer my edits to an account. I mean if it simply can't be done, fine. But they can transfer edits between registered accounts? Maybe there are a lot more long term Static IP editors than we think and it would simply be too difficult? I mean if it has to be done manually and registered accounts can be done with 'tools' then I would understand. If you or anyone(tps) knows the technicalities, I'd be interested to know! I also recall that up to mid 19952005 it was being done. (can't locate the page right now) Perhaps the workload/server load was just too much? • Suppose I could just copy everything over and redirect the IP talk etc to my new pages? Maybe, but the edit history would not go too, hmm?. And if 'my' IP is re-assigned? It appears however that I am the only IP editor in the 220.101.28.XXX range, and the only active IP editor in the 220.101.xxx.xxx range (there are 2 others, but they were blocked for usage by the same Sockpuppeteer!) • I see you have been 'mentioned' at AN/I (I think) again. Please be careful you don't go too far, It'd be a great shame to 'lose' you! • As I said, very happy to hear from you, drop by anytime! - 220.101talk\Contribs04:04, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
Afaik, the software doesn't allow for IPs to be "renamed" the way accounts are, because they are technically not registered and thus don't already possess a unique id to rename. Reassigning used to be done but I think it was done manually which is a bit of work for the devs. Up to mid 1995?? You mean 2005? ;) It's not an issue to leave a note that this IP is/was yours on your userpage, a good number of us will already know you and vouch for that. There's a few sysops who used to edit under different accounts and didn't rename but started over, it wouldn't be the first time. sonia♫04:21, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
OOPs. Missed your post here somehow! In fact I think I was answering a post of yours (in the 'whispering' section) when you posted here. Yes, I did mean 2005! (fixed) ♦ Wouldn't want to start again! As I said to Bugs, if I redirect these pages (if that's allowed), it seems unlikely any other persons will be using this IP or even a very similar IP (apart from a certain sockpuppeteer). It seems there are only three 220.101.x IPs that have ever edited WP. It's just as simple to log off and say "Yes this is me" as an IP I suppose? After being around a year it should become pretty clear If it's not me? ♦ Then again, there is a bit of a kerfuffle over Admin. Marskell (talk) and whether another newer account saying they are 'Marskell' is Marskell or an imposter. Actually HJ has my E-mail address so can vouch for me if I E-mail him!. 220.101talk\Contribs08:08, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
Wrong Screws = Laptop failure?
I took a look at your response at the Ref desk (now in Archives).
Note: Hello Journeyman IP, I'd just like to note that the eventual wikilink to "The Great Frost" was not the on you initially gave, due to another editor stating it was a different "The Great Frost". It now points to a section on the 1940 Famine article describing the apparently-Great-Frost-without-a-unique-name. This reminds me of a good scene from the Vicar of Dibley...
(PS. As you can see from the note, I find the cheatsheet very useful, and thank you for giving the link!) Chipmunkdavis (talk) 09:44, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
Yeoman Editor
'Yeoman' now! The Ireland article should not use that exact term if it actually refers to another event!. That (1709) is the only "Great Frost" on Wikipedia. And what are they doing having famines ≈100 years apart (1741 & 1845), very confusing! (and another in 1879!) - 220.101talk\Contribs 11:33, 13
September 2010 (UTC)
Congratulations on having an IP that makes so many edits without being blocked as a sock ;) Perhaps wikipedia needs more Great Frosts? But I mean, if something is named something as stupid as "The Great Frost", there will be obvious duplicates. It's like Australia's Great Sandy Desert, or Townsville, probably some of the least imaginative names ever. [1] (Youtube clip) is the Vicar of Dibley scene I was talking about, quite amusing. Chipmunkdavis (talk) 11:59, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
Oh my goodness. What must they do when they reach a semi-protected page, the mind boggles. And be careful with those photos, I'll have to report you for WP:OUTING if you keep that up! Chipmunkdavis (talk) 13:34, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
My goodness- in one month I'll have had two years! I feel old! But you've done more in your one year than I have, for sure... Wait, you started editing on 9/11? You are a jinx, my good fellow. sonia♫04:45, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
Don't think so- although it started hailing on us last time we went tramping! Civil Defence has issued a severe weather warning for today and tomorrow, for us to stay indoors- pity, we were about to head off on another tramp. Just a weekender into the Waitaks, but still... :( sonia♫05:08, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
Hope you had a good lie-in, sleep is important man. The situation is sorted. Changing slots, unsurprisinly, had no obvious effect. I caught the tram back to the shop and part exchanged for a Hauppauge hybrid pci tuner. Funny thing is is that when I booted up there was no indication from windows that new hardware had been installed. Dejected but hoping for the best, I proceeded to install the supplied drivers, ran whatever tv watching software they bundle it with and picked up 2 (out of 4) analogue stations. At this stage I was just relieved the thing actually worked. I messed around with the aerial and ms media center for a bit- I was trying to see if I could get it to at least pick up the four terrestrial channels we have here. After scanning for additional channels for maybe a third time, a whole load of digital channels showed up. Digital terrestrial isn't even meant to be available here yet! I'm trying not to get too comfortable because I think they might be just testing the network; the thing might be gone tomorrow and I'll be left with 2 analogue channels with rubbish reception. Stranger still, my new card seems to be only mp2 compatible, whereas I was led to believe that Ireland was going down the mp4 road.
Anyway, that's how I spent my saturday- was meant to be cleaning the apartment, my house-mate's coming back to the apartment tomorrow, she's been away most of the summer. Got mired in pcdom for what seems like the first time since I tried to get frontier elite to work on my da's 486- memcheck and all that nonsense. I think it's me that's waffling now :).
Thanks again for your efforts; if nothing else they kept my morale up. I don't know how old you are but if you're not aware of it, have a look at working holiday visa; it might be time to root out your passport! I had one of the best years of my life in oz, maybe it's time for you to visit the antipodes:) G'day sir, is miseStanstaple (talk) 22:35, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

Well I always knew that! But what's this about "tweaking the border colour"? Oh I see, wasn't my user box, found it lying around somewhere! Public Domain I suppose! I took something from your Box page too Ha! I've re-arranged my user page! - 220.101talk\Contribs12:53, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
Ahoy, matey! 'Tis true we've been at sea a goodly while but the navigator tells me with due confidence, having doubly-checked the almanac, that it be the Twentieth Day of the month of September - a day of dread 'pon this fair galleon - the day when lubbers no longer respect those honest sailors who reject the tyranny of navies and nations!
Furthermore, 'pon our last voyage to Southern Climes we did have the good fortune to capture a slave ship, and many of those poor souls consort with us still - why, my first mate is a fine fellow from your own dear land. And Master Mate tells me - if you would credit it - that the 20th Day began for you afore it began for me (a far-fetched claim, and one I but little believe, but stranger things I've seen at sea - and on land).
'Pon our ship we have taken a vow of silence, a vow that must not be broken until sunset, so little more can I say lest my scurvy crew mutiny - my tongue is sharp but their rapiers be sharper, and I fear many a Captain lost his vessel through loose talk in the taverns of Ports-mouth and Port-au-Prince. I trust you will understand that this is no reflection on you, Goodly Sir, but it be my knowledge that the Governor's spies be everywhere.
I ave the onour to remain, sir, your most umble and obedient servent, Capn. T. Fowr ☠ 08:07, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
Ahoy! Avast! Shiver me timbers. Tis true the Day is overrrr. Arrrr! Tis also true time and day be skewed here in the Antipodees. Tis it a tall tale ur truthful that "Fowr" means "FOWl WeatheR"? (Har Har!) - ☠ - 220.101talk\Contribs09:14, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
Blimey, I've been channelling my ancestors again! I believe my ancestors came from Great Britain, by and large, so "FOWR" is likely to refer to the fine, sunny, tropical weather we're blessed with on this island. ;-) The "T" I gather stood for "Truly", a common name back in those days. My research is incomplete, but I gather that while most "private sailors" left these shores in search of "adventure" (i.e. gold) this particular sailor had an aversion to water, and felt that a life afloat had to be better than a life under water, which is what most folk in Britain are blessed with. Apparently this isn't unusual, hence the following joke:
A native of Seattle (where it rains "quite a lot") visited his ancestral home, Glasgow. Even he was surprised by the relentless rain, and asked an old man in a pub whether it ever stopped raining. The old man replied: drum roll...
Yes, time to put the sword, hat and parrot away for anotherr yearr I suppose. Though I started 'pirating' ≈14 hours late, as I didn't notice the date. Then I saw Chzzs' template on your page! I'll have to steal some of that code and play around with it a bit. I find a tin-foil cap good for stopping channeling. - 220.101talk\Contribs10:04, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
What it won't do is tell you who's watching who. That would be a significant security breach. Another point is that if you're an established editor and you run it on yourself and it comes up 1 (i.e. only yourself), that's probably not a good sign. :( ←Baseball BugsWhat's up, Doc?carrots→ 14:51, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

Not sure what is happening there(Eng. - Jap. seems not working?) & can't remember exactly what I said myself, basically: "I (watashi wa) can speak(hanasu?) a very small(sukoshi) amount of Japanese(Nihon-go)." I think Google wants it in Japanese characters "私は日本語のごく少量を話すことができる" - 220.101talk\Contribs21:11, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
Perhaps I should have said "I know many Japanese language words, but only speak a little Japanese language" - Watashi wa, ōku no nihongo no tango o shitte iru sukoshi dake nihongo o hanasu (courtesy of Google!)- 私は、多くの日本語の単語を知っている少しだけ日本語を話す (courtesy of Google!) p.s. try tps - ☣ - 220.101talk\Contribs10:48, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Stop having fun. It's making me feel bad because I can't enjoy your freedoms. I am, I suppose, stuck in the play pen. You, however, make your own play pen :P /ƒETCHCOMMS/06:14, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
I wish I had the time to even glance at my play pen... On the subject of more information, however, how about (and 220.101 will obviously know this already): Wikipedia doesn't have an article about Terry Buck. Olympic swimmer, Olympic coach, national team manager, director of Swimming Australia, and there's some salacious gossip. Blimey. TFOWR08:12, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
Well caught - I hadn't considered the BLP implications because the subject himself is deceased, but there may be living relatives and other BLPs involved. Oops! TFOWR09:27, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
Now added, rather conservatively, although my wording could probably stand to be more neutral and readable. I think it's worthy of the article, but any significant expansion beyond what I've added would be undue weight given the length of the article, in my opinion anyway. That said, it's 2am- g'night. Thanks for the categories and reffixes, 220.101- and for the idea, TFOWR. sonia♫12:51, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
Look at it this way: I created the article to bypass the technical impasse, now it's yours to expand! Work, glorious work! ;) Maybe a DYK, possibly? sonia♫13:45, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
Clem's a good 'un, she is. Newish, but a sysop over on simple. I'd just started working on rewriting Douglas Lilburn when I decided to meddle with your play pen instead! No, I can't! . I can only create subpages of my talkpage! (Or others talkpages where a user has not created one, such as welcoming new editors.) Maybe you can do it for me! I wouldn't mind as I can't use that particular edit counter either. Though, you can use WikiChecker - 220.101talk\Contribs04:11, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
Turning to Polarego - that's a real shame. There's a smart-arsed quip about "climate change claiming its first casualty", but I can't bring myself to make it. Polarego was a good admin, as far as my (limited) contact with them went. Like many of these "big" issues, I hope that once it's over we can all move on. I'd hope, too, that Polarego won't be able to resist the lure of the project, and will return sooner rather than later. TFOWR10:49, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

König figyeske dismissal, retirement
Does not represent the interests of the school, discredit and damage the reputation of Hungary. Responsible for the disruption of public peace "merely" puszító milliárods and more damaging in 2006 tömegtüntetésnél destruction of the streets of Budapest.
No better proof of our professional alkalmatlanását that she envisions a professional qualities essential to his relatives. Never had a school and can not and will not be a family business. Chosen on the basis of non-professional teachers, relatives because of the inappropriate student taken. Would be inappropriate for students even after due public support, which comes from a decent wage workers are not entitled to, have never been entitled to. Retrospectively collected.
It is not needed, because bad infamous "showing leadership" of the country's progress is inhibited, causing serious injury and sometimes wittingly or unwittingly. India can not remain in the political change which has taken a purely destructive, because of destructive arson.
König frigyeske early dismissal can not be delayed, not the university teacher's desk, who is abusing position. Election was a serious error and the country is still paying the price. Huge loans are almost impossible due to the inclusion of the countryside throughout the country, plenty of city development. Pushed into poverty and famine, the mass of hundreds of thousands of people living in rural areas. People's right to march in the streets if they feel that the damage leading, disbelieving voice.
Among all of the work of teachers can be made. Anyone else negotiable position, preferably not a family member should be the next president. Teaching faculty of an institution can not be family business and never will be. The next leader may be old or young, male or female. Try not to let someone in the family. Hungary has a lot of teacher, who voted out of office. -Preceding unsigned comment added by CsGabor (talk • contribs) 16:17, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
Bizarre! I'll keep an eye on them. WP:AGFing, the first edit could be a mistake (thought they were still at the Hungarian Wikipedia...) and the second could be a typo ("...a guy from Geneva") They mention some serious on-wiki credentials (member of Wikmedia UK chapter, OTRS volunteer, etc). I'll check that out... Thanks for the heads-up. TFOWR19:33, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
And I am Albert Einstein, ("Call me Al") but that doesn't make it true! ;-) Note their 'statement' was on the article page, a little hard to do accidentally. Another editor at Hungarian University of Fine Arts is linked in some way as their username appears to refer to the person "König Figyeske" the in article 'statement' is about. UzT time for me. (Well past in fact!) I wonder what "botgazda" means? - 220.101talk\Contribs20:03, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
I didn't get three Nobel Prizes by falling for that old trick, Al! I ran the editor through SUL - they seem to have registered today, here and at hu.wiki. They could be Gabor, but that raises the question why they created a new account (and Gabor doesn't seem to have enough edits to warrant getting involved in Wikimedia UK or OTRS...) I suspect naughtiness, but I'll wait and see... TFOWR20:08, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
Okay, surprised someone didn't pick it up earlier. At least the bit on Current events was gone in ≈3 minutes! Do we have a 'filter' for non-British Isles speak? Not! - 220.101talk\Contribs04:23, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
"Baas"? Now that's something I'd never thought about before - when I hear "boss" I think of these guys (comes from growing up on a steady TV-diet of The Professionals), but "baas" doesn't work quite so well. I'm actually quite impressed with Google Translate - I translated an article from the French, German, Italian and Spanish Wikipedias yesterday and it worked very well - not perfect English, but enough for me to work out the key points. TFOWR09:10, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
I have The Champions, but very, very recently (last few years or so) - great series! How could Tremayne not work out that his agents had special skils? The Man from UNCLE - aye, grew up with that, too! Looking back at it now, I have to question the wisdom of having an agency called THRUSH... but I suppose for bad guys it's OK! TFOWR10:14, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
Possibilities: 1) Tremayne was dumb. 2)Tremayne was smart. "Who?, what 'secret agents'? They did what? Well that's impossible, no one can get shot and heal in minutes, therefore it didn't happen." 2) Tremayne was practical. "I don't want to know how, I don't care how, they get the job done!" At least you could mention 'Thrush' in a hushed voice, and people wouldn't want to hear any more!- 220.101talk\Contribs10:41, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
heh! Now I'm thinking of "Don't ask, don't tell" - Do you have mystical super powers, gained from crash-landing in the Himalayas?I can't answer that, Tremayne, and frankly I'm shocked you'd even ask! I'm not that kind of girl!TFOWR11:04, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

I don't think we could (but I don't know - copyright and licensing are outside my comfort zone. I've only ever uploaded an image once, and it was a horrible experience!) I think because she's still alive the argument goes that it's possible to obtain a free photo of her, so fair use is out. We could use a screen capture at The Champions, but not at Alexandra Bastedo. But I could be wrong...
Not sure how I first encountered xt! But they're good, aren't they?! I still follow my "see other people do it, and then steal it" approach ;-) TFOWR11:46, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
That's genius! Tangentially related, I looked for an article on Blue pencil recently, to describe censorship - but the best we have is Blue pencil (editing) which has all of one sentence on censorship. I was sure that armies during the First World War used blue pencils to censor news from the front("Dear Agnes. We are resting at XXXXX, after fighting the Hun at XXXXX. Tomorrow we march to XXXXX. Hope to be home in time for XXXXX. Yours eternally, Tommy"). Now I have proof that "blue pencil" eqautesequates to censorship! TFOWR12:08, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

HJ or TFOWR or others, 77.109.206.220 (talk·contribs) might need a look at their edits on 6 October 2010 (only 7) No edit summaries, but may not be NPOV. Hmmm, I dunno. I left some, reverted others. The citizenship seemed reasonable-ish - I'll go back and check it when I have time, because I know fine-well that Austro-Hungary no longer existed at that point, but the article already mentioned Austro-Hungary. I'm not sure about Slovenia. The edits were all from yesterday, and the earlier edits looked OK, so I'm inclined to leave it there. TFOWR19:11, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

Censorship ?!
Who isBruce McMahan ? And what is his connection, if any, to the Bombardment of Cárdenas. Was he in Dallas the day JFK was shot The world has a right to know the truth!
A current ANI discussion. You'll remember the editor in question - I suspect it's fallen into me archives now, but we discussed this. Earlier today I was thinking the username rang a bell - they'd requested protection at WP:RFPP for "vandalism" and I politely declined...
Back to the topic at hand, I believe Bruce McMahan has nothing to do with the Bombardment of Cárdenas, but the latter may or may not be an event that may or may not have happened in 1898. Does that help?! Thanks for keeping an eye on the former, by the way - messy business. I suspect the Village Voice is going to out us both as stooges of big money... TFOWR23:45, 9 October 2010 (UTC)

I'll never answer that question! If you're prepared to wait until 2038 the answer may come out - if it hasn't been re-classified before then! TFOWR09:07, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
Dare I say "Thegrassyknoll?" BTW you have a double negative in your first post re the 'Bombardement' "Not an event" that may "not have happened", which would mean it did! 2038 ? 70 year rule? Dwe.. been blocked! ≈20 min. ago! - 220.101talk\Contribs14:38, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
The double-negative may or may not have been deliberate - possibly ;-) I'm saying nowt about the 70 year rule, beyond... Jasper Maskelyne. He was a stage magician who volunteered to serve in the British Army during the Second World War. He was quite insistent that his magic could help the war effort. Some of his magic tricks are still official secrets! [citation needed]
Yup, saw Dwe's block. Hopefully it'll prompt some communication. Since I last posted here I've had to decline another RFPP request - "too much IP activity". Those nasty IPs, eh? ;-) TFOWR14:45, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
cn? I'm on it! I got it from the Channel 4 documentary mentioned in the article. The Channel 4 "microsite" has nothing, so I'll need to dig... Damn, see the trap I've walked into? Now I have to find a source for something that - I believe - is top secret until 2020! (Can you wait another 10 years?!) TFOWR15:33, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
"Apparently", "yeah, right". It's beginning to sound more and more dubious - the kind of thing that a TV researcher hears and reports as gospel, but people with clue know is nonsense. Still, we should know for sure in ten years' time! TFOWR15:53, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
Aye, GTA-LA. Bad IP, bad. If we let IPs edit, next thing is they'll be creating most of our content, and then where will we be? :-o TFOWR15:55, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
Yikes! $700 is outside my usual research budget... ($0) I suspect our article may now be more accurate than Channel 4's documentary, journalistic license - sounds likely! There does seem to be an interesting story here, though - there seems to be some truth in the idea that he was involved in a bombing at a Mosquito factory, organised by MI5... TFOWR16:19, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
This "LIGHT MY FIRE" may already be linked to in the article. Seems it's an analysis of the veracity of Masklyns account, which is a Primary source too! There are more PDFs on the website (Not very impressed by the Channel 4 " ‘documentary’ " apparently!) - 220.101talk\Contribs16:40, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
Interesting read - sounds like Maskelyne wasn't averse to a wee bit of embellishment (or blatantly taking credit for other peoples work...) Makes sense, I suppose, being a consummate showman, but disappointing from a historical perspective :-( TFOWR16:50, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
In 2003 Peter Weir was looking at making a movie about Masklyne but withdrew, see SELLING PARAMOUNT A DUMMY Weir directed "The Truman Show", how appropriate! A well know WW2 'Veteran' in Oz was recently shown to be a fraud. We should not be surprised at such things. It looks like Masklyns article should be covered in cn tags! AGF but, maybe, there is COI involved? - 220.101talk\Contribs17:07, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
I didn't either. It was mentioned at ITN/C (as you've probably seen). Seems like a good idea. Also seems to be part of the "let's settle the arguments at ITN/C once and for all" part of Wikipedia ;-) TFOWR19:33, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
No, but I mind when editors make 'modfications' to this page without asking, and without informing me that they have done so. 2 weeks ago another editor archived every single thread, without asking. Rather annoying. :-[ Many editors have long talk pages, some like it that way. There are more impotant tasks for you to do than archiving a Talkpage. It's not as if I was a dynamic IP with reams of old warning templates! :-| Happy Editing! - 220.101talk\Contribs08:32, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
I actually took it off my watchlist, I was finding it so depressing - though what I should have done, obviously, is visit the enthusiastic editor and explain the difference between encyclopaedic prose and "exclusive, compelling" journalistic prose... I haven't checked what you've done, but I can guess, and I thunk you done good ;-) It all seemed a little trivial. OK, so they've separated - fine. Do we really need the article to discuss - in tedious detail - the first interview post-separation? That's my 2¢, anyway... TFOWR16:05, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
Yo thats what I thoughted. There was (unsourced) speculating on negative affect on their kid (Coco?!) of being told at a picnic. "..speculation by Stern that this was probably not a great idea as picnics are considered to be a generally positive experience thus causing the child to quite possibly not enjoy future picnics". As I summaried, Relevance? (Quick answer, Ta!) I'm tired, and my LCD is playing up. :-( 220.101talk\Contribs16:30, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
On it! Lots of good faith IP edits (gasp!) but some silliness too. First time in a while that I've seen the "Current event" template and not removed it due to too few edits... Sleep well! TFOWR16:36, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
Maybe - I'm not definite about it though. There's been a good edit fairly recently (the one with the edit summary, ironically to an article with "Manlove" in the title - I bet that's a vandal-nightmare for the article's regular editors...) I'm keeping an eye on the IP, and I agree that all-but-one of their edits are bad, but it looks to dynamic right now. TFOWR07:48, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
Only if you want me to ;-Þ. No, just seeing what you were up to. I like Picnic bars, raisins sounds like a good idea, wonder why we don't have them?. Needs refs too! It's just after 6AM here and I haven't been to bed yet OMG!. I keep swearing I won't stay up, but here I am still! Whittaker's need some piccies, but I was nosing around at the choccy bar pics and didn't see any! I have to go, lucky if I get 5 hours sleep! Aaargh! (Not the only one staying up late either am I?) See ya! - 220.101talk\Contribs19:18, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
Peanut Slab - redlink, like the supply of Peanut Slab in my house... :-( Whittaker's is a bluelink, but on Wikipedia only - again, my house has only redlinks... :-( Must... stop... thinking... about... decent... chocolate... Also, Picnic seem to contain raisins in the UK. And they stick an "A" in their Weetbix... "Weetabix" - it's just wrong. Is your grog-supply still redlinked, 220.101? TFOWR19:31, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
Nah, you can get good chocolate here - just not Whittaker's. There's plenty of Belgian chocolate which is nice, and Cadbury's is no better/no worse than back home. The UK is getting good at stocking some Kiwi stuff - wine is easier to get these days. A few years ago Sav Blanc was the only Kiwi wine you get in the UK; recently they seem to have discovered that New Zealand does reds as well. "Your wine" has been here forever ;-) Wine is expensive, though - they take the NZD$ price and just change the symbol - $15 becomes £15 pounds. My local Woolworths used to sell an Australian wine for $5 - you wouldn't find wine that cheap in the UK. And don't get me started on petrol... or GST... or council rates... :-( TFOWR07:58, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
We have GST too! >:-( 10 % including elect. & water. Talk of elect. going ↑ by 60%. (Being 'green' :-| ) <OR Alert!> Average choc. 'bar' here is heading for AUD$ 2, so I buy on special (2 for $2). But as that article said down to 48.4 grams (1.71 oz) from 52 grams (1.8 oz) (What again! I thought it was 60 ↓ 52gm!). Cadbury 'Blocks' are ↓ 200-225gm from 250 and heading for $4. Nestle Kit Kat 'Blocks' are ↓ 175gm from 200. Nestle Crunch is one of my likes, also Breakaway (biscuit). Biscuit? Odd thing to call it. I'd call it a choccy bar, it's like a Kit Kat, IMHO. Those Yanks Americans have Hershey brand Kit Kats! Japan has Soy Sauce and 'Wasabi' Kit Kat!! • Can't believe I've spent an 90 mins(plus!) 'researching' info on chocolate bars! Have to do some extra editing to make up! • How did you 'know' I had just, literally, walked in the door ≈07:51? Disconcerting!, or just 'karma'? • I see HJ is having connection trouble, any idea what he uses? I'm on Unwired & had an outage this week for ≈1 hour, which is the first I know of, so my uptime seem about 99.9%! - 220.101talk\Contribs09:48, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
GST was 12.5% when I was last back home - Sonia will have a better idea what it is now (I think it was due to go up?) GST in the UK ("VAT") is 17.5% (but it's cheaper on electricity and gas, and water - in Scotland - is covered by water rates paid to the council. England and Wates pay for their water, I think. NZ also has council water, I think, you pay for sewerage so you can't just install your own rainwater-collection system). Wasabi Kit Kats! Awesome! In Thailand Kentucky Fried Chicken is chilli-spiced by default - that was pretty awesome, too - I like my food hot! No idea how I knew you'd just walked in the door - psychic link?! You seem to be online whenever I am - are timezones a myth?! TFOWR10:08, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
Sorry about delay, I Am Legend (film) and Armageddon are both on TV. Not first time I have had a message sent almost as I sat down! (see this). I think me sleeping is a myth! If you look at me on WikiChecker, my edits are all over time-wise, where yours have well defined cut offs.
Japan has/had a huge range of Kit Kats actually, Wasabi=Green Chocolate!
Dorothy Metcalf-Lindenburger may interest too, currently NASA's youngest astronaut! Only came across her last 'night', not heard of her before, AFAIK.
I have RL things I have to do (whether I will is another thing) so I may not/should not be editing over the next 11-12 days. And I have had months to do 'them', dumb-silly-stupid etc of me! Sorry, had to get that 'out'. It's 'getting' to me a bit right now. Probably have enough time. Have to prioritise (maybe tomorrow?). See also Procrastinate. Could use a Very Big Drink right now, but...maybe chocolate? Don't mind 'Peanut Slabs', and I polished off 2 blocks of Whittaker's a few weeks ago! - 220.101talk\Contribs12:46, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
Ah, we've played the WikiChecker game before - your editing habits truly terrify me, leading me to believe that (a) you never sleep, or (b) you are, in fact, an android. Your fine taste in food and drink leads me to believe the former, but I'm open to arguments for the latter. You need to run WikiChecker with the "all" parameter: this is me. It does show some apparent insomnia, but that's almost certainly down to editing in two different timezones - UTC+0 and UTC+12. The times I were least active translate to times I was either in NZ, at work - or in the UK, asleep.
I found this interesting: I've not yet tried an American Milky Way but I'd have to say I'm not a big fan of (British) Milky Ways. I seem to recall Mars Bars being available in NZ, and being basically identical to British Mars Bars. This page gives me real hope for Canada, and also suggests that more research is needed on regional variation within the US. I discovered you still get Violet Crumbles in Australia - I encountered them about 25 years ago in Singapore, and thought they were great, but my tastes were less mature back then. They're an Aussie invention, and I was surprised not to find them in New Zealand (I think you get Crunchies, though - but they're not as good). Oh, and the comment about dark chocolate Mars Bars: spot on. Dark chocolate anything is better. About 20 years ago Britain brought out ice-cream Mars Bars and flirted with various similar products - the best one was the "Red Bounty Ice Cream" - dark chocolate, coconut-filled goodness. British tastes don't tend to extend to dark-chocolate nearly enough, so the product (a) flew off the shelves, and (b) stayed off the shelves (any successful product that I like won't survive long - apparently big business measures success in a different way to me: it's not enough to sell out quickly). TFOWR11:03, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
My editing 'habit' scares me too! I've even been dosing myself at Simple WP! Only had a few hours sleep er. this morning and I though it was Sunday! FYI The late Polly Waffle is no longer made! (I have ONE, and only one!) I think the chocolate on Violet Crumbles is compound chocolate (WP says so too!), on Crunchies it's 'real' chocolate. See, I've been editing again while Real Life(RL) beckons! (Jimbo what hast thou wrought?)
Some dick put a fake name into the mine rescue article(stayed 4 hours!), I was preparing a customised uw-hoax template, (appropriate?) when the Annoying Orange Bar appeared.
If you want to see truly horribly formatted articles see History of Wyandanch and also Wyandanch, New York. The first, in particular, Very long and no 'Wikified' references. No one, including the 1 or 2 IPS that are dumping text into the seem willing to 'fix it'! And it's been going on for ≈3 years!
Why dont you stop worrying about my talkpage? I never asked you to set up archiving for me. I said "I mind when editors make 'modfications' to this page without asking" and then you went and did it again, without asking! Other than posting please do not modify this talkpage! - 220.101talk\Contribs02:08, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
I do mind people messing with my talk page! I suggest you re-read what I said before. I also suggest most strongly that you do not do things like that to any other editors talk pages without asking permission! I have enought going on in my life without wasting time on this subject. I consider the matter closed. - 220.101talk\Contribs16:57, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
Leave them allone wayne, this person made it obvious that they don't want you messing with their talk page, and they are absolutely entitled to permission before you go about messing with their talk page. I'm the same way. 220, i feel your pain. Hope noone does this to me, peace!

I asked for help. These days the help desk is full of posts from me... unfortunately, those posts are now requesting rather than providing help... I appear to be getting more and more helpless :-( TFOWR14:11, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
It's not the "orange bar of annoyance" that annoyances [sic] me, it's the no-bar of edit conflictyness [sic] that annoys me... I start replying to someone, and they decide to copy-edit their post. Preview, people, preview! (Obviously that applies to other editors, not to me - I reserve the right to hit "Save page" milliseconds before thinking "Oh bugger"). TFOWR14:23, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
I on the other hand preview too much! and with my slow page update times ≈20-30s, next thing I know its 20 minutes++ later, I save and ec of course! - 220.101talk\Contribs14:29, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
Bourbon? Pah! Not as good as the real thing! ;-) Anyway, why not Bundaberg Rum? Surely there's no better way to make grog that to use real sugar, instead of cereals and grasses? (or is local produce as expensive in Australia as it is in Scotland - the worst place in the world to buy Scotch...?
In other news, I've just removed the image of Harry Harper from Simon MacCorkindale - John of Reading, at t'Help Desk, pointed me towards two prior discussions - my reading is that fair use images are OK in general (a fair use image of MacCorkindale would be OK), but a fair use image of Harry Harper can only be used at Harry Harper. TFOWR15:56, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
Cos' it was 'cheap'? I wanted get some De Bortoli cask Tawny port(cheap!), but the Bottle'o was out of it and the other (more expensive) shop was closed (!). SO I got some cheap 'Bourbon'. (Hmm, Bundy Rum! or Johnny Walker!) I think our taxes make local brew not much cheaper than imports.
• "Alas poor 'arry..." Yes I had a feeling that was the case, read it somewhere. I must read a few policy pages someday, I basically use 'common' sense (I hope) and what everyone else is doing! I hope that nobody has been having to follow me around fixing my stuff ups! Actually I don't think that picture looked much like MacCorkindale. - 220.101talk\Contribs16:41, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
I suspected your bank manager might be behind the grog decision - he's usually behind mine ;-) Editing is "iterative" - so long as you're a net positive (you are, trust me!) you're making an improvement overall, even if you do make mistakes. I make mistakes - I just don't worry about them ;-) TFOWR16:55, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
Well I dont have a mortgage,or own a home! (Visa card yes though!) I actually got reverted at Simple WP recently !!! Very near (past?) UzT for me. Remember me saying on Friday I had "Things that Must be Done" <sigh>. Must..resist..urge...to...edit. Later! - 220.101talk\Contribs17:06, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
I'll need to do some Simple-stalking to find out the juicy gossip! I do remember you saying you wouldn't be around this week, yes! It's difficult, is it?! Last post, get some UzT, but finally: the system works!!! TFOWR17:13, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
Oh no! "Xonia, Warrior of the Mountain" is miffed! Woe unto them! Actually I put 2 subtitles & lines of text into Solar Energy, with expand tags. (A bit lazy of me!) I didn't notice that they have basically restored what I did. They don't say, but perhaps I used subst when I should not have? Lets just say a 'Cold Wind' blew throught me when it happened. :-| - 220.101talk\Contribs06:21, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
Seriously I didn't see the second part of their edit. I just saw my edit had been removed (apparently not a revert, my bad) and I didn't bother looking again until Sonia came in ready for battle. See Geoffrey Edelsten, in December '09 I think I get reverted for wp:recentism! Too bad that revert stuffed up a reference that I had also fixed! - 220.101talk\Contribs09:33, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
If you have any ideas to add to the following movie plot, just leave them on my talk page, or put a link to yours if possible, as i might not be able to find you again.
Movie plot: Annie is staying in Connecticut to see her friend Joan, and she stays at the "creature in hotel", which is rumered to be haunted. When she stays at the hotel in room 203, she notices really wierd stuff going on. There is a figure that keeps going near her, and she often hears crying or singing in the night, coming from near by the window. Annie goes to the front desk and is directed to Elizabeth Jones in room 204, who tells her about the ghost of Catherine Jones, who died in 1910 at age 13. it is unknown how she dies, but Annie then calls in her ghost hunter brother (Sean Desman), named norman who finds Catherine near the heater in 203. Annie, Norman and the other ghost hunters must help Catherine realize that the people who used to tease her are not there any more, and she can rest in peace.
Do you have any ideas to spice the movie up? I.e. How Catherine died, or who should do voices in the movie, or just other additions to the plot? i'm open to new ideas. Please respond soon, thanks. 204.112.104.172 (talk) 11:00, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

I have slightly re-formatted your post so the heading looks right, (always preview!) Now, what the h#%l? Movie plot? "Please explain?" Spice it up? Gratuitous Sex and Violence seem to work. Or perhaps big dance numbers like Bollywood epics? Now what does this have to with "building an Encyclopedia that anyone can edit"?
I had a look at your talkpage and contributions. (You got a Ref Desk Barnstar, :-o I am so jealous!) I would suggest not trying to (almost) demand answers from the ref desk. Everyone there is a a volunteer, and they do not have to answer a question if they do not want to. Also do some (more) editing, that is make a contribution back to WP. I am not impressed by editors (not you personally) who only ask RD questions, but don't 'pay' for it by giving back to WP. I may be outside policy here, but that is my personal feeling on the issue. A bit of "Give and Take" Hm? And try not to get blocked again! - 220.101talk\Contribs12:08, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
let's get a few things out of the way:
A: I am blind, so the visual thing is impossible for me to do (thanks for helping on that),
b: do not remind me of my edit history, especialy the reason why that fenses and windows guy blocked me
c: I did make a few contributions to wikipedia, including totaly remoddeling the episode guide for what's with andy, and the wordgirl voice cast. Pay attention to what you see and it all becomes clear. assume good faith, assume good fait, assume good faith.
204.112.104.172 (talk) 14:52, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
Hey no need to be 'stroppy'. All I know is that you were blocked, perhaps "Please don't remind me" would have been nicer? AGF goes both ways! All I can say is perhaps make more contribution to WP, then editors are more likely to help you, but I don't think asking for help to jazz up a movie script is the way to go. We are here for building, improving and maintaining an on-line Encyclopedia.- 220.101talk\Contribs15:16, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
This flag is not really red! Redflag Nope not this one either!
TFOWR can you take a look at my post here to 71.32.75.23 (talk·contribs) and tell me if BISE applies to this case ie removing UK/ United Kingdom? They are also removing US or United States from articles. Mostly w/o summary which I have nicely asked them to do.
First one looks OK - so long as "British Isles" isn't involved it's all good. Adding/removing "United Kingdom" is another issue, and one that's been going on forever - does "England" suffice, or should we say "England, United Kingdom". My view is that the edits here are sometimes less than ideal - I'd like to see more than just Place-in-England - I'd like to see either Place-in-England, England or Place-in-England, United Kingdom - i.e. I'd like to see a link giving an idea where "Place-in-England" is (most English place-names aren't so obvious as the made-up one I've chosen...) - "Place-in-England" on its own isn't sufficient (in my view). Place-in-England, England isn't ideal either, as there's only one link. Place-in-England, England, United Kingdom would be OK (in my view). I haven't looked at the other editor yet... TFOWR15:00, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
I blocked the second editor - definitely a vandalism-only-account. First edit used the term "school nigger" - and it went downhill from there... You don't need to hang about with VoAs - head to AIV early, no need to warn them all four times. They hadn't edited since (both) their final warnings, but they're clearly a VoA and we don't need their "help" ;-) TFOWR15:04, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. As I recall I only found and reverted most of their naughtiness after they were done and well gone. In which case I think AIV is only for doing it right now sort of vandalism, no? I should be doin my RL things anyway. Like sleeping! ZzZzz- 220.101talk\Contribs15:15, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
For VoAs, AIV will (or should...) handle it even if it's late. VoAs don't change their spots - if they're a VoA now, they'll be a VoA when they resume editing! Sleep well! TFOWR15:17, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
Actually I'm nearly out of the 'vital' liquid! I think I was inadvertently having doubles, having got used to pouring Port which has half the 'active' ingredient/volume! So I thought "Gee this is strong!" I also went out too late (again!) to stock up, if my normal store has even got my favourite tipple in yet! G'night All (including John Boy) - 220.101talk\Contribs15:27, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your valued contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. You are welcome to continue editing articles without logging in even though many editors will recommend that you create an account - but considering what good you've done without one, I don't see why it matters.
Not quite a barnstar - too lazy (and busy) right now to find an appropriate one - but it nonetheless hopefully says "Thanks for being part of the Wikipedia Community"
A message I was writing, but by the time I finished, too late Llkylej3000 (talk·contribs) was blocked!
Re Profanity
Hello Llkylej3000,
Profanity is in fact allowed as "Wikipedia is not censored". That of course doesn't mean editors can swear at other editors, as we also have the NPA (No Personal Attacks) policy. Anyway you are on rocky ground at the moment so try not to get blocked. Please sign your pots, put 4 'tildes' ~~~~ at the end or use the 'sign button' (left of 'Advanced' on the tool bar) - 220.101talk\Contribs01:43, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
In sincere appreciation for your hard work and patience fixing things, correcting sentence construction, gramargrammer grammar and style on a sometimes bi-lingual, hugely popular breaking news article about teh the recent 2010 Copiapó mining accident. ¡Muchas gracias! Veriss (talk) 03:22, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
Hey, I'm supposed to be on a WikiBreak! >;-|. Thanks, though Veriss1. I'll have to check if I did that much to earn my FIRST barnstar! Maybe the "Turn lazy editors bare URLs into decent refs with titles, dates, authors and all that sort or unimportant stuff (and doing it manually) Barnstar", I would have expected! - 220.101talk\Contribs04:16, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
Hahah! Don't worry, you were high up on the edit list. I didn't give that many out. I covered the ref links with teh "fixin' stuffz". There is a ""The Citation Barnstar" but it didn't sound as cool. Enjoy your wiki break! Veriss (talk) 05:04, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
Hi and thanks for tidying up the article after my edits and making such constructive improvements. Your good work much improves things and I certainly appreciate you doing the tidy up both to content and the cite formatting. It is easy to miss stuff sometimes and your keen eye has been picking them out very well. Hope things are treating you well in Sydney. Felix 04:26, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
Sorry I missed your reply. That is certainly a lot of hits. At the present time I would assume most readers are looking for eruptive information and would explore the main article for background rather than the other way around. I was a little worried when the 2010 eruptions article was started up due my own concerns that it would either split the benefits or double the workload. It seems to have worked out OK though. I guess we will need to pay attention to thinning down the Merapi articles 2010 eruptions content soon and start clarifying the 2010 eruptions content. The two articles seem to be hanging together pretty well under the circumstances and there has been a lot of effort put into them. I notice a few editors have done a lot of cleaning up and refining of the main article over the last couple of weeks. There will need to be some serious broom work done when the eruptions finally stop. I think I have fixed my signature link now. Maybe I left something half done a couple of weeks back, I only noticed it recently and fixed it. Nice to hear from someone in Sydney. I am in Indonesia and here we are getting some quite dramatic thunderstorms lately. When the winds start up we will probably have a bit of exciting weather I think, currently we still seem to be having LaNina influenced rains. I live at the base of one of Indonesia's active volcanos and I often wonder if it is really such a good idea. Those people in Yogya must be having a pretty interesting time. Thanks for all you ongoing tidy ups on the refs. I really must learn how to do them in a more concise manner myself. When have some time I might need to ponder over the appropriate WP guide for quite a while. Thanks for saying hello. I will have a look at sorting out a disambiguation for Mount Merapi and 2010 eruptions of Mount Merapi. Felix (talk) 13:03, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

Hey 220.101 :) I like your "manual archiving" notice; I do it that way myself. Gives me more control over exactly how my talk looks at any time. As for infoboxes, hmm. I'd say go to the talk page of the relevant wikiproject; if it's a minor tweak (perhaps, I'd venture, even adding one field), then WP:BRD applies. If it's not, (especially if you're completely restructuring it) then certainly discussion beforehand is due :)
Life has been spitting on me in general, with a host of medical and legal problems piling on top of end-of-year deadlines, so you won't see much of me over the next month either... my primary commitment to Wikipedia at the moment is this, and it's about all I can handle right now. I'm hoping that the deluge will subside relatively quickly and I'll be able to get back to writing content by Christmas, although with the way things have been I really don't know if that's possible. Some way to end the year, huh? sonia♫22:10, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
Banner came courtesy of TFOWR, with very minor edit by me. Re the infobox I did leave a note on the talkpage of the template, and on the late surfers talk as well. There appears to be presumption that surfers never die!! I think I do not need a reliable source to assert that this is highly improbable! In fact the ever useful Plastikspork (talk·contribs) reports it as fixed, and surfers may now depart for the 'Place of Endless Tubes' like the rest of us. Cowabunga!
('Newspeak' emoticon for for 'double sad') Legal and health problems, not good! I have strained something above my hip, making bending etc difficult, which is a big problem when I have today started a new job! And picking things up off the floor is necessary, but sometimes impossible! At least it is not (AFAIK) my spine! Not even certain I can go in for my second day! Agh- hope you're better now! Hi 220.101,
I am not sure how to crop the picture once it is on the Commons but I have added one more satellite image to the article. Originalwana (talk) 12:30, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
Hello there Originalwana! I imagine that the picture would have to be downloaded, cropped with a graphics program and uploaded to Commons again. See also this link: Edit this file using an external application from the Commons page. My concern was that the section of interest was very small compared to the overall size of the picture.
Keep your eyes open for a 'free-use' picture of the current eruption we can use, perhaps Flickr may have some?
Sorry about whinging about the Merapi eruption article - you're right I could update it myself. I was just trying to highlight that I thought it wasn't getting the attention it deserved but perhaps I have no right do to this if I too can't give it the attention I think it deserves! Cheers mate djambalawa (talk) 02:28, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
Whinging is a basic human right (so far!). The article was eventually linked to "current events" on the front page, for about a week I think? (which is quite long!). It has also been updated very regularly since, which some actually object to as "WP is an Encyclopedia, Not a Newspaper" (see Recentism - Some updates I did to Borobudur got reverted! by editor Merbabu!. Merbabu is also a mountain peak very near Merapi! See preceding post above ↑.) • Wikinews probably needs to be updated more often too! I think they had ONE article on the eruptions. • As you say, if this was happening in North America or Europe it would very likely "be getting bombarded by updates", but also its' effects would likely be felt much more worldwide. In Australia it got a lot of media coverage when it kept erupting. Actually from the page view stats, not as many readers as I thought would be are interested! Mount Merapi got a lot more views (stats) than 2010 eruptions of Mount Merapi. (stats) by up to 800%! Regards, - 220.101talk\Contribs03:35, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
