Page development
[edit]Hey @Launchballer! Hope you had a lovely Christmas & New Year! Found these guys' music recently and have been really enjoying, planning on bringing this page to life over the coming weeks, feel free to help out :)) George (talk) 21:08, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Georgeykiwi: you as well. I was planning on working on it this morning, however I woke up to discover that Wargasm had been claimed for GA review and I did say I wanted to run it as a triple nom, so my priority is rolling out Dead! and Sam Matlock, in that order. (As you might have noticed, GA is in backlog mode; as well as Swim School, I've had seven of mine claimed in the last three days including Honey Revenge and Dead Pony, so I'm feeling pretty frazzled right now.) I'll get to this once I've finished with those.--Launchballer 15:13, 9 January 2025 (UTC)

- ... that South Arcade once set up for a BBC Radio 1 performance with less than a minute to spare?
Launchballer 17:40, 17 January 2025 (UTC).
- I read the Kerrang! piece, and they made it sound exciting there, but this simplifies to "the band was ready to perform on schedule". What if we add more details (that aren't currently in the article), like the fact that they had to re-download the files for the performance, live, on stage, while the presenter was announcing them? DS (talk) 18:24, 17 January 2025 (UTC)
- Hooks are supposed to be tight, but I can suggest ALT1: ... that technical issues in the minute before their November 2024 BBC Radio 1 performance meant that South Arcade had to set up while the presenter was announcing them?--Launchballer 20:06, 17 January 2025 (UTC)
- Length is good. Newness is good - moved out of draftspace. I'm not thrilled with source #1, as it's not independent, but it's only being used to support their year of formation, and you've properly established notability. I'm similarly <frown/> re: citing their "supporting tours" to their social media, and would be more pleased if you had some more non-them sources. Citing their discography to Spotify... that's pretty standard, I think? Earwig says 17%, which is fine. Hook is cited and hooky. No pic. QPQ is fine. If you can address those issues, we'll be good with ALT1. DS (talk) 22:37, 17 January 2025 (UTC)
- I was under the impression there was significantly more latitude given to non-prose content, but I've replaced one ref and taken out three others.--Launchballer 15:44, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
There is, I was just being fussy. We're good with ALT1. DS (talk) 12:12, 20 January 2025 (UTC)

Prose
[edit]- I'm honestly not 100% sure on how origins work for band articles, but the article implies that they were founded in Guildford, and moved to Oxford later on.
- Found another source which confirms this.--Launchballer 20:07, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
- "After naming themselves after a sign at Westgate Oxford, they released "Danger" in 2023" So were they named something else from 2021-2023?
- Reworded.--Launchballer 20:07, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
- I find it weird that "Riptide" is the only track that is given some sort of elaboration regarding what it is about, but it's not a big deal.
- Trimmed.--Launchballer 20:07, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
Sources
[edit]- Please include timestamps for the video citations, specifically [5].
- Added, although YouTube clips usually have transcripts.--Launchballer 11:52, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- Valnet sourcing (which ScreenRant falls under) is strongly discouraged from usage on BLPs; WP:VALNET (not a music related page, but still roughly contains community consensus on VALNET sourcing) says that it shouldn't be used on BLPs at all and WP:RSP says it shouldn't be used for controversial statements. I advise removing it from the article.
- Can The Oxford Blue be established as a reliable source? It looks like a student publication.
- I'll deal with the most pressing issues first. What WP:VALNET actually says is that Valnet publications "should not be used to support biographical material on living persons", which is not the same as "should not be used on BLPs". Both this and Oxford Blue are used for nothing other than attributed opinions of what genre their music is, which is not BLP material.--Launchballer 21:49, 14 May 2025 (UTC)
- Alright, fair enough. λ NegativeMP1 23:12, 14 May 2025 (UTC)
- What are Rock Regeneration, Bring the Noise UK, and When The Horn Blows, and how are they reliable sources that can be used for a BLP-adjacent article? When The Horn Blows, in particular, is one that I have never seen or even heard of.
- Never seen Rock Regeneration before and can't find any evidence of an editor, so cut it. Both Bring the Noise UK and When the Horn Blows have editors, but as several sources have appeared since I nominated, I'd like to see what they cover before I respond further.--Launchballer 21:49, 14 May 2025 (UTC)
- I trimmed one statement sourced to When the Horn Blows, but the rest should be fine.--Launchballer 20:07, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
- Spotchecked certain uses of 2, 14, and 20. They look fine.
Images
[edit]- There is only one image in the article, and it is a free image of the band performing which is available on Commons. Nothing more to say here, looks fine.
Final comments
[edit]Overall, this is a pretty short but reasonably well written article. I'll place this on hold to give time for you and the co-nominator to address the concerns I have, which are mainly source-related. λ NegativeMP1 20:30, 14 May 2025 (UTC)
- @NegativeMP1: I think I've addressed all your concerns; if not, what else do I need to do?--Launchballer 11:52, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- Nothing, I think the article looks fine now. I still feel like it's off when it implies the band was formed in Guildford and only moved to Oxford at a later date, but I guess it was quick enough to not matter. I'll pass this now. λ NegativeMP1 14:45, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
