About the console still being on TecToy's website

[edit]

Hi @Popcornfud, sorry, but I noticed you were the one who removed the mention about the console not being on TecToy's website anymore with the reason listed being "Literally the first thing you see on the website"; could you provide evidence of that? TecToy updates their website continuously, and unfortunately I couldn't find an archive of it on Jan 17, 2024, the day of the edit, but I did find archives of it on the Wayback Machine on Jan 8th and March 22nd, and as far as I can see the Genesis isn't the first thing you see on them.

Are you perhaps thinking about the console showing up on the first video on the website? That one has been there since December 2021, when they were definitely selling the console and it was showing up on their "Consoles" page. However by 2023, the page wasn't showing the Genesis anymore and still does not (now renamed "Electronics"). Gmestanley (talk) 20:49, 18 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I think you have the wrong editor. See [1]. Popcornfud (talk) 22:23, 18 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ah thanks, sorry for that. Didn't notice that.
@Sontails1234 Hi, please see above. Gmestanley (talk) 19:41, 19 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Gmestanley at the time, the master system evolution was featured in their banner. Presently it seems like it is not, but it is still further down their website's main page and it looks like you can still order one. Sorry for the abrasiveness awhile ago, I do not think I was in a good mood that day and I am not usually like that. Sontails1234 (talk) 19:56, 19 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The article isn't about the Master System though... it's about the Genesis. Gmestanley (talk) 15:46, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Change name to Sega Mega Drive?

[edit]

The Sega Mega Drive is a Japanese console and its Japanese name (and everywhere else in the world apart from North America) is the Sega Mega Drive, so surely the article should be named Sega Mega Drive and not Sega Genesis? 146.198.56.22 (talk) 14:36, 20 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I kind of agree to this but in the sense that the original name is Mega Drive and that the only place that calls it Genesis is in North America. Jamie64326 (talk) 21:17, 6 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Please read the FAQ at the top of the page. Sergecross73 msg me 21:19, 6 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Lack of true article neutrality

[edit]

I wish this page was less US-centric (in other words "the US is the center of the universe").

It should have the reasoning of "It was named the 'Sega Mega Drive' in Japan (where it was invented), and also registered under that name in Scotland, Ireland, England, France, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Brazil and more countries (at least 10), so by default (10 to 1), it's Mega Drive primarily, Genesis secondarily, no matter how many people bought it".

The problem is majority rule. With every debate/edit, the majority, Americans, keep hammering away at it, until it's Genesis focused.

Even the logo art has the Genesis logo 1.5 times the size of the Mega Drive logo.

Hardly the neutral goals Wikipedia is known for. Tallaussiebloke (talk) 07:50, 26 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
