Overall corrections and thoughts on how to improve:

[edit]

While reading through this page I thought it was very well rounded and features a ton of rich information and details about Sanaa, especially for a middle eastern city. Some things I would like to see different though are as follows: I think this page in particular has a difficult time with hyperlinks. These are what make wikipedia useable and its more general topic pages digestible! Something that struck me was the conornavirus section. After having read through it, I failed to see what about Sanaa's experience with covid was so unique that it warranted its own section. The information is useful to some extent, but at this rate, why not have a corona section for every city that was affected? Does it need its own subsection if the cholera outbreak doesn't? I think more information and a greater discussion on solar panels and a consolidation of discussion on the city's energy needs would help keep the page more organized and useful to others - i.e the transportation section talks a lot about energy and resources, so why not have it as part of an energy subsection? @L'Hommedusud nice find. Is there a way for you to upload a higher-quality version of it (Ideally an SVG version) Abo Yemen 17:59, 11 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

the only way is to redesign it again, i was going to do that, but i was afraid i will get in trouble with wikipedia like last time i did for the aden free zone logo, they removed it and from the article and from the my uploaded images for violation. @L'Hommedusud ill put it up in c:Commons:Graphic Lab/Illustration workshop for the vectorization. Can you remove the brown background from the current image until we have that ready? Also this is a government symbol and it shouldn't fall under copyrighted materials Abo Yemen 05:01, 12 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. Ngram does not show a change in trend, it only confirms that both names are commonly used and that there was a short-term dominance of Sana'a over Sanaa in 2021. However, this is caused by the occurrence of "Sana'a Center for Strategic Studies", which is an established term that must be separated from the name of the city. A cursory internet research shows that both names are commonly used, but Sanaa has more google hits and prevails in reliable sources. Sanaa is used by e.g. Britannica, Google Maps, Al Jazeera and New York Times. Sana'a is used by the United Nations ans U.S. Embassy in Yemen. BBC uses both, with Sanaa prevailing. In such a proposal, the proposer should publish a more detailed analysis than just a ngram. FromCzech (talk) 06:56, 15 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

the ASCII apostrophe is incorrect. if it's moved, it should be to a spelling with a letter for the pharyngeal, not a punctuation mark. — kwami (talk) 13:00, 23 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
