Birthplace
[edit]Where was John Hurt actually born? It is generally agreed that John Hurt was born in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. A user recently made an edit, claiming that Hurt was born in Shirebrook. --81.135.63.31 (talk) 10:32, 6 July 2020 (UTC)
- The answer is very likely Chesterfield. This was addressed in a now-archived discussion at Talk:John Hurt/Archive 1#Birth place NoMatterTryAgain (talk) 18:18, 15 July 2025 (UTC)
Date of death
[edit]There seems to be some confusion on this page as to when Hurt actually died. The date has been changed from 25 January to 28 January, but the Guardian obituary gives the date as 27 January, yet the BBC News article dated 28 January 2017 quotes Hurt's wife as saying he died "on Wednesday", which would place his date of death as 25 January. Samuel J Walker (talk) 09:45, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
- I can't see an actual date in the BBC source, nor in the BBC Obit, but the quote from his wife would make it 25th. And yes The Guardian obit says 27th. ABC News here gives a very clear quote from his wife. So I think it should be 25th. Martinevans123 (talk) 10:54, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
