1 Ozzy Osbourne 2,518,203 The death of the Prince of Darkness is still mourned, with his cortege in Birmingham having tens of thousands in attendance, before a funeral attended only by his family and a few other rock stars until his burial at the family mansion. 17 days before dying Ozzy headlined his Back to the Beginning farewell concert, for which he went through extensive physical and vocal preparation to overcome the body decay caused by Parkinson's.
2 The Fantastic Four: First Steps 1,691,443 Seems adequate that the fourth cinematic attempt at the Fantastic Four is the one that really worked. Adapting the classic story about the arrival of Galactus, only this time around the Silver Surfer is Shalla-Bal rather than her lover Norrin Radd, set in a futuristic version of the 60s where the comic started, First Steps was approved by critics and audiences alike. After a great opening weekend of $216.7 million globally, the film's earnings fell off as usual for most blockbusters in the second, but this just gave fuel to people who just want to paint everything as a box office disaster (specially if it involves the Marvel Cinematic Universe). In any case, Marvel's next movie is only next July, and it's their most famous superhero.
3 Saiyaara 1,484,800 Released July 18, this film has grossed ₹502.74 crore worldwide to secure solid footing as the second-highest moneymaker in 2025 for an Indian and Hindi language film. It has also become the highest grossing Indian romantic film ever.
4 Happy Gilmore 2 1,436,121 Netflix released a sequel to 1995's Happy Gilmore, where Adam Sandler's failed hockey player turned successful golfer retired after accidentally causing the death of his wife, but years later decides to go back to the green so he'd get money to send his daughter (played by the actor's own child Sunny Sandler) to an overseas ballet school. Reviewers were not that impressed by the film's reliance on silly comedy, nostalgia and an endless parade of cameos, ranging from real life golfers to Sandler's old friends like Rob Schneider, but audiences made it the biggest Netflix film debut of the year.
5 Superman (2025 film) 1,336,990 David Corenswet is the Man of Steel in the start for a new shared superhero series, the DC Universe, and the movie has hooks for its next two works, season 2 of Peacemaker and next year's Supergirl. Generally liked, with the opposition being mostly Zack Snyder fans who can't accept the end of the DCEU or conservatives who discovered too late that Superman is an immigrant and quite an altruist, Superman made over half a billion worldwide and will be the highest-grossing superhero movie of the year.
6 Sydney Sweeney 1,131,099 In an ad for the apparel brand American Eagle Outfitters, the blonde actress is seen wearing a pair of blue jeans, while a background voice declares "Sydney Sweeney has great jeans". The ad campaign received some attention from social media users who accused the company of using rhetoric associated with eugenics and white supremacy by making a pun on Sweeney's "great genes". Some users also managed to find information that apparently pointed to Sweeney being a registered member of the Republican Party. Right-wing commentators leapt to Sweeney's defense, accusing the criticism as part of a broader "woke" backlash. Others then opined that the reactions were exaggerated as part of culture wars and a distraction to recent political events, e.g. #19. American Eagle later issued a statement that the ad "is and always was about the jeans", while Sweeney has not commented.

8 Hulk Hogan 1,025,117 Days after #1 died another icon of the 80s in this wrestler. While during his heyday Hogan was opposed to The Iron Sheik, Andre the Giant and The Ultimate Warrior, during the last years of his life he instead got the contempt of those who disliked his unsavory off-ring behavior and right-wing views.
9 Pamela Anderson 898,156 In 1994, there was the release of Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult, Liam Neeson getting an Oscar nomination for Schindler's List and Pamela Anderson's fourth Playboy cover while still starring in Baywatch. 31 years later those three things combined in the legacy sequel The Naked Gun (#17), and Neeson and Anderson apparently have extended their romance off-screen as well.

11 Sharon Osbourne 772,614 On the day of her husband's (#1) funeral, July 30, the cortège containing his family stopped on Black Sabbath Bridge in Birmingham to look at all the messages left there by the fans of his music. She was, at first, understandably and visibly shaken by the overwhelming support, before she and family returned to their cars. She held up her hand in a peace sign, her husband's signature greeting, to the crowd before entering the vehicle.
12 SummerSlam (2025) 754,725 Another monthly professional wrestling event held by the WWE and streamed on Netflix on August 2 and 3. The first night had a mix of tag-team and singles' matches for both men and women, respectively, leading to the main event of the night and the world heavyweight championship match between Gunther and CM Punk. Punk defeated an injured Gunther to win his second such title (although it was revealed to be a kayfabe injury in order for Gunther to undergo future facial surgery). However, Punk's new reign ended in mere minutes when Seth Rollins (pictured) returned from his month-long knee injury to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase from June to defeat the fatigued Punk.
13 Adam Sandler 753,981 He launched his career with Saturday Night Live, proved he could be a film star in Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore, and has kept on the spotlight in spite of dropping some truly wretched comedies like Little Nicky (where one of the few good spots was the appearance of #1...). Sandler revived one of his breakout roles in #4, and will next co-star with George Clooney in one of his dramatic roles that offset his low-brow work, Jay Kelly.
14 Ryne Sandberg 739,972 "Ryno", a second baseman who played most of his 16-year career with the Chicago Cubs died on July 28. The Hall of Famer won nine consecutive Gold Gloves (given to outstanding fielders) from 1983 to 1991. He is also remembered for hitting two game-winning home runs late in a 1984 slugfest, now called the Sandberg Game.
15 Aimee Osbourne 703,214 The funeral of #1 allowed many people to see the one member of the family that wasn't on The Osbournes, Aimee (who Ozzy named one of his songs after). She is also a singer under her initials "ARO", and prefers to stay out of the public eye, having performed only three live concerts.
16 Cameron Boyce 647,414 #13's son in Grown Ups and its sequel was played by this actor who shockingly died of an epileptic seizure at just 20 in 2019. Sandler decided to pay a tribute to Boyce in #4, where a scene has a television showing Boyce in an episode of Jessie.
17 The Naked Gun (2025 film) 642,939 Continuing the misadventures of Frank Drebin seemed to have become impossible once Leslie Nielsen died in 2010, but the minds behind the wacky Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers decided to attempt it, having #10 play his son who's also a bumbling policeman, Frank Drebin Jr. (some might think Neeson was chosen solely because his name resembles Nielsen's, but mocking his action career that took off after Taken also helps!), with #9 as his love interest, and Priscilla Presley making a cameo as the original Drebin's wife Jane. Reviewers liked The Naked Gun, the movie opened at third behind The Bad Guys 2 and #2's second weekend, and should soon make its modest budget back.
18 Virginia Giuffre 636,900 Giuffre was one of the most prominent accusers of sex trafficking by Epstein and his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell, including to Prince Andrew, Duke of York and the lawyer Alan Dershowitz. She died by suicide in April this year. Following US president Donald Trump's comments about a potential pardon for Maxwell, Giuffre's family publicly called for Trump to not pardon Maxwell. Trump continues to try to distance himself from Epstein, saying his falling-out with Epstein two decades ago was due to how Epstein "stole" women that were employed at the spa at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort, with one of those women being Giuffre.

20 Sarina Wiegman 563,247 UEFA Women's Euro 2025 crowned England (defeating current World Cup champions Spain in the final), and this marked the third straight title for their Dutch manager, who won 2021 coaching her home team, and the two following ones with the Lionesses.
21 KPop Demon Hunters 561,920 Sony Pictures Animation made a movie whose premise - girl group moonlights as slayers of the supernatural! - seemed like it wouldn't fly outside of teenagers who love KPop, but its colorful visuals and engaging characters made KPop Demon Hunters strike a chord with varied audiences on Netflix.
22 Weapons (2025 film) 550,408 This new American mystery horror film releases theatrically August 8, but it has received early critical acclaim. The plot surrounds an elementary school teacher (played by Julia Garner, pictured, who is also in #2 as the Silver Surfer), whose 17 students leave their homes one night.
23 Chloe Kelly 541,301 Back to the victorious Lionesses, the decisive penalty kick came from this Arsenal striker, who coincidentally also scored the title goal in 2022.
24 Natasha Richardson 528,451 Until meeting #9, #10 had not dated ever since the death of his wife, an actress in works such as The Parent Trap who suffered an eventually fatal skiing accident in 2009.
25 Kelly Osbourne 511,650 Keeping off #19's partner Ghislaine Maxwell is #15's youngest sister, who also went into music. During the funeral of #1, she was wearing Ozzy's trademark round shades as an homage to daddy.
