Education!??

[edit]

So, according to the infobox: "Education, e.g., degree, institution, and graduation year, if relevant. If very little information is available or relevant, the 'alma_mater' parameter may be more appropriate."

Since he doesn’t have a degree and it’s not really relevant, I figured we could just remove it. What do yall think? Also, I tried deleting it, but for some reason, it broke the infobox, I’m not sure why. Lililolol (talk) 21:42, 12 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Correction: Early Music Career – Sons of Mr. Green Gene

[edit]

Hi there, I’d like to request a correction/clarification regarding the section on Cillian Murphy’s early music career.

Before pursuing acting full-time, Cillian Murphy was involved in the Cork music scene. He co-founded the jazz-funk band The Sons of Mr. Green Gene in the early 1990s with musician Tim Homan, who served as the group’s founding member and lead vocalist. Murphy had previously played with The Sarah Daze, and brought in his younger brother, Pádraig Murphy (keyboards), along with drummer Bod Jackson. Bod introduced guitarist John Ahern, and Homan completed the lineup by adding bassist Chris McCarthy.

The band was managed by Robert Stevenson under Treasure Island Records. During this time, they were brought to the attention of Acid Jazz Records founder Eddy Piller. Homan parted ways with the band before their 1996 Jazz Week gigs at Reardens on Washington Street, Cork — events later covered by RTÉ. Around that time, Homan was invited to audition as vocalist for Mother Earth, a flagship act under the Acid Jazz label, but the project ultimately did not proceed.

Murphy left music soon after to pursue a career in acting, while Homan continued his professional work across multiple fields.

This clarification reflects the actual band history, with proper attribution of Tim Homan’s role as founding member and lead vocalist, and may help prevent confusion regarding the band’s leadership and development. I am available to verify this information if needed.

Thanks for considering this correction.
