Stacy Willingham (born January 30, 1991, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina) is an American author of psychological thrillers and "Southern suspense." Willingham has published three psychological thrillers: A Flicker in the Dark, All the Dangerous Things, and Only If You're Lucky. Her fourth thriller, Forget Me Not is publishing on August 26, 2025 by Minotaur Books, an imprint of St Martin's Press and Macmillan Publishers. She resides in Charleston, South Carolina, and credits the south[1] as being a point of inspiration for all her books.
Awards and Accolades
[edit]Willingham's debut novel, A Flicker in the Dark, was published on January 11, 2022, and was an instant New York Times bestseller, debuting at #9 on The New York Times Best Seller list. Before it was published, it was optioned by Emma Stone's production company, Fruit Tree, as well as A24, to be developed into a series[2] for HBO Max. The book was a Book of the Month pick, winner of Strand Magazine's Best Debut Award[3], and a finalist for Book of the Month's Book of the Year Award, Goodreads Choice Best Debut Award, Goodreads Choice Best Mystery & Thriller Award, and ITW's Best First Novel Award. It has been translated into over 30 languages and has sold over one million copies[4] in North American alone.
Willingham's second novel, All the Dangerous Things, was published on January 12, 2023, and landed on The New York Times Monthly Bestseller list at #8 in January of the following year.
All of Willingham's books have been Book of the Month selections, Library Reads selections, IndieNext selections, and Amazon Editor's Picks.
