Born in 1948 in Darya Ganj, Delhi, India, Ravindra Kumar Gupta (RKG) comes from a family with a legacy in business and public service. His father, late Shyamlal Gupta, founded the S. Chand Group in 1939 and his grandfather was Master Amir Chand(1869–1915)[1], a dedicated teacher, social reformer, and revolutionary freedom fighter. In 1912, he, along with fellow revolutionaries, planned the assassination of Viceroy Lord Hardinge by throwing a bomb in Chandni Chowk on him. Although the attempt was unsuccessful, Master Amir Chand was arrested and subsequently executed on May 8, 1915, in the Central Jail of Delhi.
Mr. Gupta attended Birla Vidya School in Nainital and later graduated with a BSc from Hindu College, Delhi University. During his youth, he was passionate about sports, excelling in cricket, chess, snooker, billiards, and carrom.
Career

Ravindra Kumar Gupta joined the family business, S. Chand Group, in 1970. During his tenure as Chairman and Managing Director, he spearheaded several innovations in the publishing industry, most notably the introduction of multicolored editions of textbooks, which became highly popular. Under his leadership, S. Chand became the first publishing house in India to achieve ISO 9001:2000 certification. Mr. Gupta oversaw the expansion of the company’s reach, with new branches opening across India.
At the age of 60, he passed on the leadership of S. Chand Group to his son, Himanshu Gupta[2], to focus on other ventures.

RKG Group of Companies
In the early 2007, Mr. Gupta established the RKG Group of Companies and started pursuing his passion projects of Creative Publishing, of Creative Publishing, Art & Culture as well as hospitality business.
His deep passion for art and culture is evident in his social initiatives, particularly through the RKG Art & Culture Center[3] - Delhi’s only art gallery dedicated to providing a free platform for students and emerging artists from across India to exhibit their work and has hosted more than 75 Exhibitions till date.
He further extends his vision through RKG Bollywood Songs YouTube channel, which not only revives hidden musical gems but also serves as a platform for showcasing talented artists.
Ravindra Gupta’s contribution in Cue Sports in India is also very prominent as he has been promoting Snooker in India for more than 40 years now. His yearly All India Snooker Tournament - “RKG All India 10 Red Snooker Championship”[4] has completed its 6th Successful Season and has been a pillar has ignited the spirit of a lot of budding snooker players in India like current 64th Rank Holder Ishpreet Singh. National Television-Doordarshan[5] also recognised his significant contribution to the world of cue sports.
