Pramod Deo is an Indian energy economist, regulator, and former civil servant who was appointed chairperson of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission in June 2008 after a vacancy of nearly a year.[1] He previously served as member and later chairperson of the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC), where he influenced significant tariff reforms in the state.[2]

According to a 2021 article in Powerline magazine, Pramod Deo has authored multiple books over three decades, reflecting India’s renewable energy trajectory including Decentralised Energy Planning: Methodology and Case Studies (1991), based on his early work with the Maharashtra Energy Development Agency[3]and Strategic Management of Energy Conservation (1993), associated with his leadership in energy conservation institutions.[3] His most recent work, Renewable Energy in India: Economics and Market Dynamics (2021), co-authored with Sushanta Chatterjee and Shrikant Modak, is published by SAGE India.[4]
