Cast sections
[edit]On certain articles like A Chorus Line, Promises, Promises (musical) and The Threepenny Opera, some cast sections were added and/or expanded with 15 or so performances by an IP, but I trimmed them down as shown here, here and here, as I found them excessive and redundant since certain sections like the Production History already mention the cast members and we do not need to list every single actor and performance (which is not Wikipedia's purpose). That said, what should we do with the other cast sections? Since this will probably affect other musical theatre articles, I'm opening a discussion here. Thanks, Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 13:48, 5 May 2025 (UTC)
- There is a convention in the better-written articles to limit the Cast table to the original production and the "major-market" revivals: B'way, West End and long-running US/UK national tours. Under the tables, we usually footnote only notable (blue-linked) cast replacements for these major-market productions. It is not helpful to have gigantic casting tables of repetitive casting information. The Productions section should describe all the really noteworthy productions of the show and list the starring cast as well as notable supporting cast. We do not need to duplicate cast lists -- if they are in the table, they can be removed from the Productions section (though they need not be). I suggest that we enshrine this advice in our Article Structure guide. -- Ssilvers (talk) 16:25, 5 May 2025 (UTC)

Help...article nominated for deletion!
[edit]I'm very sad to see one of the articles I started (Black British Theatre Awards) being nominated for deletion. Would anyone be up for helping support it? If you're unfamiliar, this is a fairly new UK award, compared to historic ones like the Olivier Awards, for example, but it is building up (it's been on for the past 5 years) and it's aimed at highlighting black theatre artist, technicians and more, so I think it's really important to keep it.
Please help... Musicalge3k5 (talk) 22:56, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
- Musicalge3k5, I saw this. The best way to strengthen the article is to add more newspaper or magazine articles about the BBTAs. Can you find any others from The Times, The Evening Standard, The Independent, The Stage and other national entertainment news sources? -- Ssilvers (talk) 23:28, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you so much Ssilvers. I have added all I could find and it seem to have worked. :-) Musicalge3k5 (talk) 09:13, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
- Good, but you very rarely need more than two refs for a single fact. Pick the two best quality ones (I have already tried to do that here, but please review and comment on the Talk page there if you disagree with any choices). In any case, the AfD has been closed as "keep". -- Ssilvers (talk) 18:28, 21 June 2025 (UTC)

Conductor Sue Anderson dies
[edit]Broadway conductor and pianist Sue Anderson died May 1, 2025, at age 70. In a nearly 45-year career on Broadway, where she conducted or music directed The Pirates of Penzance, Me and My Girl, Cats and Jerry's Girls, and played keyboards in the orchestras of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Woman in White, Spamalot and The Lion King. Playbill says that she helped to break the glass ceiling for women music directors on Broadway. She also conducted Pops concerts with several U.S. orchestras and the Philharmonia Orchestra (or was it the London Philharmonic? -- sources differ), toured with Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, worked film and radio, and worked with several regional theatres, among other posts. She recorded three albums with her husband, Cris Groenendaal. Do any musicians want to put up an article about her? https://playbill.com/article/broadway-conductor-sue-anderson-has-died-at-70? https://playbill.com/article/broadway-conductor-sue-anderson-has-died-at-70 -- Ssilvers (talk) 15:32, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
Weird italics title at Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera
[edit]The title of the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera is incorrectly italicized. I tried to fix it by placing the template Italic title|noerror; but it didn't work. Anyone know how to undo an italicized title?4meter4 (talk) 16:17, 2 July 2025 (UTC)
- User:Johnuniq, can you please remove the italics? -- Ssilvers (talk) 18:30, 2 July 2025 (UTC)
- Does "incorrectly italicized" mean that the title should be plain "Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera" (no italics) but it is currently in italics? That is due to {{Infobox opera}} which defaults to italicizing the article title. See my edit to the article (diff). Is that what is wanted? Johnuniq (talk) 05:08, 3 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks! Looks good to me. Is that good, 4meter4? -- Ssilvers (talk) 05:14, 3 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you Ssilvers and Johnuniq. Looks great now. 4meter4 (talk) 22:56, 3 July 2025 (UTC)

New WikiProject
[edit]Hello!
I propose a WikiProject with the working title of Art & Architecture Copyedits.
The proposed WikiProject has two main goals:
- To copyedit any articles related to Art & Architecture that have the copyedit or clarify tag, and
- To create a supportive, welcoming space for newcomers. Experienced editors are also very appreciated, especially for the proposal process, but the WikiProject, once created, will mainly be recruiting newcomers.
If you would like to join, please do comment below, and I'll ping you during the proposal to confirm your intent. I will be posting this message on all related WikiProjects. All experience levels appreciated! 22ManzanaBoy (talk) 15:51, 15 July 2025 (UTC)
Discussion at Talk:Hadestown
[edit] You are invited to join the discussion at Talk:Hadestown § Are other productions that aren't a Broadway, West End or US/UK Tour ever notable to be added to infobox, or should they all be removed?, which is within the scope of this WikiProject. Happily888 (talk) 01:28, 19 July 2025 (UTC)
