Taxonomy: For all marine species, Project Gastropods uses the taxonomy in the online database WoRMS. When starting a new article, do not use sources of taxonomic information that predate the 2017 revision for all gastropod groups ("Revised Classification, Nomenclator and Typification of Gastropod and Monoplacophoran Families" by Philippe Bouchet & Jean-Pierre Rocroi, Bernhard Hausdorf, Andrzej Kaim, Yasunori Kano, Alexander Nützel, Pavel Parkhaev, Michael Schrödl and Ellen E. Strong in Malacologia, 2017, 61(1–2): 1–526.) (can be dowloaded at Researchgate.net), substituting the previous classification of 2005 Taxonomy of the Gastropoda (Bouchet & Rocroi, 2005). Nembrotha lineolata first sentence

Hi gastropod enthusiasts. I encountered the article on Nembrotha lineolata and was confronted with this first sentence:

Nembrotha lineolata is a species of nudibranch, a sea slug, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Polyceridae.

I looked at the other Nembrotha species, and they mostly have variations of this first sentence (though some – like Nembrotha aurea – put "sea slug" before "nudibranch"). Many other nudibranch articles have similar first sentences as well.

To me, this sentence feels rather clunky. I don't think it's necessary to know that this species is a nudibranch and a sea slug and a marine gastropod and a mollusk and in the family Polyceridae. But I have no experience with writing gastropod articles. So I'm asking here: Should this sentence be trimmed, and if so, how should it be written instead? Also, should "marine" link to Ocean, Marine life, or something else entirely? For reference, here's a link to the lone FA-class gastropod article, Laevistrombus canarium.

Drymaeus poecilus GA nomination

Merging Wikiprojects
