Cuyahoga River questions

[edit]

Hello Cremastra, I am a new editor to Wikipedia and have been working on the article "Cuyahoga River." I noticed some of the information I added was removed a few weeks ago and wanted to know if you could help me improve it. I would have reached out sooner, but I initially believed that I had simply forgotten to publish my additions (and also why I initially added it back). If there is any advice you could share or sources you could direct me too, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your work on Wikipedia. EEL1917 (talk) 17:09, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@EEL1917 Sorry, this is going to be an unhelpful reply, because I don't believe I removed your edits. I reverted a copyright violation added just before by a different user, but your edits should still be standing, although the diffs are now deleted due to the page at that time containing a copyright violation. I assume you're talking about your edits on 18 April. Looking at the revision history, NicoEroles (the copyright violator) added 611 and then 762 bytes to the page; you then added several thousand bytes, and I then removed 762 and 611 bytes, corresponding to NicoEroles' plagiarism. However, I'm not an administrator and can't look at deleted revisions, so I can't see what you added to confirm it's still in the article.
In any case, I wouldn't be the editor to ask for advice on that article as I don't know much about the subject area. If it was an article about an animal, plant, or populated place, I'd probably have useful advice, but you know far more on this subject than I do. Good luck, and apologies I couldn't be more useful. Cremastra talk 19:43, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, that makes much more sense. Thank you for your oversight. EEL1917 (talk) 20:16, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Userbox alignment

[edit]

Hi Cremastra, this is not especially important, but the userbox on your user page User:Peristome/UserBox/GodMMAtheist does not play nice with being inside the {{flex columns}} template and extends its border to the right edge of the page, pushing everything else into the middle of your userpage. I don't think this is intentional, and I don't know why it behaves like this. Putting it outside the flex columns fixes this behavior but doesn't look at nice. Just thought I'd let you know -- Reconrabbit 15:59, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I don't know why it does that with the border. The userboxes were pushed to the centre before I added that one, though, so I'm not really sure what's going on. Possibly it's because Peristome's userbox uses a div directly rather than calling {{userbox}}. I created an alternate version that seems to have fixed the border thing. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Cremastra talk 19:41, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think you've got it on the div elements - {{flex columns}} states Only contents which are in <div>...</div> tags will have extra whitespace distributed to them – except for those with class flex-columns-noflex (or otherwise override the flex: property). They're pushed to the center because flex columns by default take up 50% of the width of the page, and all the userboxes float left. You can push the userboxes further to the right if you set |flex1= to some arbitrary large number and |flex2= to 1, but they'll always be a minimum of 360px so you'll end up with some whitespace to the right regardless of what you do. -- Reconrabbit 20:02, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. No, I'm not— the article showed up on a feed of articles with potential copyright violations. Cheers, Cremastra talk 19:30, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
