The United States Navy began building a series of battlecruisers in the 1920s, more than a decade after their slower and less heavily armed armored cruisers had been rendered obsolete by the Royal Navy's Invincible-class battlecruisers. At first unconvinced of the importance of the superior speed of the British battlecruisers, the US Navy changed its position after evaluating the new type of ship in fleet exercises and Naval War College wargames, and after the Japanese acquisition of four Kongō-class battlecruisers in the early 1910s. When Congress authorized a large naval building program in 1916, six Lexington-class battlecruisers were included. None were completed before the arms-limiting Washington Naval Treaty was ratified in 1922. Two ships in the Alaska class were commissioned in time to serve during the last year of World War II but were decommissioned two years after the war. (Full list...)

There are 30 extant kerivouline species, which are members of Kerivoulinae, one of the four subfamilies of Vespertilionidae, itself one of twenty families of bats in the mammalian order Chiroptera, and part of the microbat suborder. Kerivoulines, or woolly bats, are found in Africa and Asia, primarily in forests and caves, though some species can also be found in grasslands, savannas, or wetlands. They range in size from the least woolly bat, at 2 cm (1 in) plus a 2 cm (1 in) tail, to the Kachin woolly bat, at 6 cm (2 in) plus a 7 cm (3 in) tail. The 30 extant species of Kerivoulinae are divided between two genera, with 26 species in Kerivoula and the remaining four in Phoniscus. (Full list...)

The English–Irish boy band One Direction released five studio albums, seventeen singles, and numerous music videos between 2011 and 2015, becoming one of the most commercially successful groups of the 2010s. Formed during the seventh series of The X Factor in 2010 and signed to Simon Cowell's Syco Records, One Direction quickly rose to international fame. Their debut single, "What Makes You Beautiful", was a global hit, followed by chart-topping albums Up All Night, Take Me Home, and Midnight Memories. The latter made them the first band ever to have their first three albums debut at number one on the Billboard 200. They extended this streak with their fourth album, Four, and capped their discography with Made in the A.M. in 2015 before going on an indefinite hiatus. (Full list...)

Amusement rides on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) are located throughout the United States. These individual ride listings consist mainly of carousels, but also include roller coasters, trains, and other ride types. Many NRHP-listed rides operate within amusement parks, with more than one present in Cedar Point, Lagoon, and Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. There are also high concentrations in New York City, the Greater Binghamton area in New York state, and Portland, Oregon. The first NRHP amusement ride listing was added in 1975 for the Idora Park Merry-Go-Round (delisted in 1985). The listing for the Crescent Park Looff Carousel was added in 1976 and is the ride that has existed on the NRHP the longest. The listing for the Portland Zoo Railway Historic District was created in 2020 and is the newest ride entry on the NRHP. Several NRHP-listed rides, including the Leap-the-Dips roller coaster, have a higher National Historic Landmark status. Of the nearly 100,000 NRHP listings, fewer than 100 are for amusement rides. Mid-credits and post-credits scenes have been used in various Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) media, since the beginning of the franchise with the 2008 film Iron Man. The use of such scenes as a whole has changed movie-goer expectations, and has received both praise and criticism. In some cases, MCU films have multiple mid-credits and post-credits scenes, while some excluded them entirely. In addition to such scenes attached to films, the MCU has had post-credit scenes in some television series, generally after the final episode of the series. As of Ironheart (2025), the MCU has featured 87 post-credits scenes across 50 properties. (Full list...)
