Question from Kingadriel (01:53, 18 February 2025)

[edit]

How do I create a article on a person who i know and is famous --Kingadriel (talk) 01:53, 18 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kingadriel, it looks likes you've already given it a shot. Do make sure you've given the feedback on your draft a read - you might also find Your first article helpful. WindTempos they (talkcontribs) 19:04, 18 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Mamta1210 (06:53, 21 February 2025)

[edit]

Hey! I created a draft but it got rejected cause I didn't site pages for the book the person wrote. Can you help me this? --Mamta1210 (talk) 06:53, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from MartyInc (05:52, 26 February 2025)

[edit]

Hi, an actor in a couple movies is linked to the wrong person (with the same name). How do I fix that? --MartyInc (talk) 05:52, 26 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi MartyInc, if the actor you're looking at has their own Wikipedia article, you can use the pipe | character in the link text to change the text of a link without changing its destination.
For example:
  • [[John Smith (actor)]] would create a link that looks like this: John Smith (actor).
  • [[John Smith (actor)|John Smith]] would create a link that looks like this: John Smith - but notice that this still takes you to John Smith (actor).
If the actor you're talking about doesn't have their own article, you can still add a link in this way, but if someone else with the same name already has an article, you might be better off leaving it unlinked to avoid confusion. WindTempos they (talkcontribs) 15:31, 26 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
To my knowledge, Marshall Cook (actor) does not have a Wikipedia page, but should because he’s been in several movies and has two going to theaters this year (“Shadow Force” and “Not Without Hope.” 104.34.193.3 (talk) 23:19, 26 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Nola50417! (20:59, 7 March 2025)

[edit]

Hi, I'm contacting you regarding a profile. What happens if I remove information from it. Thank you. --Nola50417! (talk) 20:59, 7 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Nola50417! - biographical articles are held to very high standards for sourcing, so if some information isn't supported by a reference to reliable source, it's totally fine to remove it - although it's usually better to find a source supporting it if you can.
If it is sufficiently well sourced, however, you should expect to be challenged on the removal. I'd ask on the article's talk page if you're unsure. WindTempos they (talkcontribs) 15:26, 9 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from PepitoneArts (17:34, 28 March 2025)

[edit]

Greetings! The reason that I just created an account is that I want to create a page for my late father who was an American artist. I didn't see that option listed on the dropdown menu, otherwise I would have selected it. --PepitoneArts (talk) 17:34, 28 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia, PepitoneArts. Please do give Your first article a read; article creation is difficult to get right, and especially so when you have a personal connection to the subject. In any case, please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions! WindTempos they (talkcontribs) 23:19, 28 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! I plan to be neutral and only state the facts about him. That being said, is it permitted for me to write a page for a relative or is this not allowed? Thanks! 24.144.188.226 (talk) 15:42, 31 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm obviously not the mentor, but I will talk for them (even though I seem to be rather late), yes you are allowed to, however you must state WP:COI (please do have a read) and ensure your father meets WP:NOTABILITY as a minimum. Setergh (talk) 23:06, 3 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Badgers At Dawn on Eoan Group (11:19, 9 April 2025)

[edit]

Hi, I'm looking at the leadership and challenges section of this page, and there's no mention of Joseph Manca having any of these dificulties or approaches in the source provided. Am I okay to just delete the section? --Badgers At Dawn (talk) 11:19, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Badgers At Dawn, yes you can absolutely remove content that isn't adequately backed up by a source - that wouldn't be particularly controversial. Of course, you have the option of rewriting the section to be more accurate, or finding better sources to back up the existing content, where appropriate! Question from Popandscotch (06:47, 22 April 2025)

[edit]

Hello, are all the suggested edits have a task on them for us beginners to do? Like for example, a copy edit, do they always have a mistake, a grammatical error for beginners to fix, or are the articles chosen by the suggested edits totally random? Thanks. --Popandscotch (talk) 06:47, 22 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not the mentor, but I'll answer again. The suggested edits aren't specifically only for beginners to do, however I would recommend them if you want to improve at random things. Even then, suggested edits can be for all people, no matter how experienced, perhaps in just giving a user something to do rather than making them choose. The suggested edits are chosen by random, but they are sorted into difficulties or categories for a reason, meaning you can still give a general idea of what you want to do while still not being forced to choose things on your own. Hope this helps!
Note for mentor: Sorry for answering for you, although you don't seem to be currently active and I don't think it's good for people to be kept waiting. Hope this is fine with you. Setergh (talk) 23:09, 3 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for answering, Setergh. I've found myself with considerably less time recently, so I've removed myself from the mentor list. Fun while it lasted! WindTempos they (talkcontribs) 13:18, 4 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough, thank you for resigning and your contributions to Wikipedia! Setergh (talk) 14:03, 4 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
