Copa Minas 1967

The COMMONNOME is "Torneio Quadrangular de Belo Horizonte". "Copa dos Campeões" inventing it on the Wiki itself. Fulanoo1 (talk) 09:04, 14 November 2023 (UTC)

If you have a source that points to this name as the official name, no problem, but the majority of the other sources point the name as "Torneio/Copa dos Campeões"
https://www.rsssfbrasil.com/tablessz/tcampeoesbh1967.htm
https://futebolnacional.com.br/siteapp/?module=championship&code=72882753FBE2FF195C2BB80E5D0E636A&lang=pt-br&img=y&target=2

https://www.bangu-ac.com.br/bangu/titulos/
As you can see, it was not an invention. If you have any other further questions, feel free to send a message.
Svartner (talk) 09:33, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
"The curious thing about football" and "national football" are not reliable sources (RSSSF is no longer a reliable source on WIKI pt, although it is on Wiki EN) and were probably influenced by Wiki itself. As you can see in Wiki PT's sources, no newspaper at the time used the term "Copa dos Campeões". Fulanoo1 (talk) 10:21, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
The listed sites provide very accurate coverage of Brazilian football. In this case, I listed the official website of Bangu AC which also calls the competition the "Copa dos Campeões", what is clear is that the term of reference for the competition was not merely "invented" Svartner (talk) 19:21, 16 November 2023 (UTC)

Hello, Svartner

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username WikiOriginal-9, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Neguitão, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|WikiOriginal-9}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 21:05, 22 November 2023 (UTC)

Hello, and why would the page be deleted? It is a disambiguation created because in Brazil there is a relevant samba artist also called Neguitão.The idea is exactly to avoid confusion when searching for the primary topic. Svartner (talk) 21:08, 22 November 2023 (UTC)

ferroviariaemcampo.blogspot.com

Hi Svartner. At Getúlio (footballer, born 1947), you used a reference from ferroviariaemcampo.blogspot.com. Per WP:BLOGS, blogs are among the sources which are "largely not acceptable as sources". WP:BLOGS makes an exception: "Self-published expert sources may be considered reliable when produced by an established subject-matter expert, whose work in the relevant field has previously been published by reliable, independent publications." Do you think this exception applies to ferroviariaemcampo.blogspot.com? Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 18:45, 26 November 2023 (UTC)

Yes, I am aware of the problem with WP:BLOGS. In this case, a source was used because he is a player who played mostly for Ferroviária, a team from the interior of Brazil, where the most accurate coverage is provided by this type of sources. I just included the list of teams that athlete Getulio played for during his career, and corrected the place of birth. There are images of the player's official documents in the post. Deletion discussion about 1958 Torneio Rio-São Paulo

Hello Svartner, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, 1958 Torneio Rio-São Paulo, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/1958 Torneio Rio-São Paulo.

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|North8000}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Autopatrolled

Hi Svartner, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.

Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.

Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! – Joe (talk) 09:54, 30 December 2023 (UTC)

Invitation to join New pages patrol

Hello Svartner!

  • The New Pages Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles needing review. We could use a few extra hands to help.
  • We think that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time, but it requires a strong understanding of Wikipedia’s CSD policy and notability guidelines.
  • Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision, and feel free to post on the project talk page with questions.
  • If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please consider applying here.

Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you around!

A tag has been placed on Luís Freire (Brazilian footbaler) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer, or other unlikely search term.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. @Svartner:, I have noticed that you have been creating many older Brazilian pros and now older Italian players and I want to thank you for that... when going on Wikipedia I find that there are so many older Souh American, Mexican, Italian, Spanish, French, Belgian, Dutch and German players that have good sources that do not have Wikipedia pages and I am glad that other users like you are starting to take notice of these types of players. As a side note, I have noticed that many prominent present-day Polish, Czech, Norwegian, Irish, Korean, Luxembourgian and Swedish top flight and second tier players as well as present-day Spanish, French, Italian, and German third and fourth tier players have good sources. Hi there! Please read Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Archive 156#Categories for players who haven't played for the first team. No consensus after all... The discussion died with people arguing with others for hypothetical scenarios and/or point of views. I'd rather not use the categories here, since it's wildly irrelevant if you consider that he is known for playing for Novorizontino, not Audax or São Paulo. Cheers, BRDude70 (talk) 04:22, 21 December 2024 (UTC)

Hello. The point is that if you have an affinity with player articles, you will notice that the vast majority (except for incomplete articles made at the beginning of the project) normally contain the categories of youth clubs, this being the standard adopted to date.
A good example is the case of Morato, a defender who played for São Paulo FC at youth level, was champion of the Copa SP, but never played professionally in the main team. Even so, he had a recognized career at the club.
Regarding ogol/zerozero/playmakerstats, I personally consider it a good complementary source, as does Soccerway. It alone does not actually add value to WP:GNG, which is why I put it as an external link, just for statistical consultation as it summarizes pertinent information.
Anyway, I don't want to get into an edit war just for details, but there's room for further discussion on the topic. I hope there is understanding on your part too. Furthermore, feel free to talk and Merry Christmas. Svartner (talk) 04:33, 21 December 2024 (UTC)
Honestly, there's not a "standard" if there's no consensus... Morato is not the same case as Luisão, since he is known to have played for São Paulo as a youth. See this article for an example: it clearly mentions São Paulo in the headlines. You absolutely can't find the same for Luisão...
IMO, it falls into the same topics where other people were bringing up in the discussion I've pointed you, and GiantSnowman was mainly dismissing... It's not clear whether the category should or shouldn't exist, thus I prefer to leave it out. If you think of it in a more practical way, would you come into Category:São Paulo FC players to search for players who played for their youth team or their first team? Maybe we should (once again) bring this to WT:FOOTY.
Merry Christmas to you too! :) BRDude70 (talk) 04:42, 21 December 2024 (UTC)

Notice

The article Campeonato Sul-Mato-Grossense Série C has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article about a third-tier regional football championship in a Brazilian state whose football tradition is practically non-existent. The article cites just a single edition of the tournament. Article without reliable sources and independent sources confirming the text's claims and attesting to notoriety. See verifiability principle, reputation criteria, notability events and specific criteria for sports). ~~

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This is an automated notification. Please refer to the page's history for further information. DatBot (talk) 00:30, 8 February 2025 (UTC)

Hello, I stumbled across this page when making a page for another Felipinho born in a different month of 1997. You know the specifics better, does this player pass notability? I would say 26 games and 4 goals on Soccerway's record means no [2], but 7 games and 4 goals in one Campeonato Mineiro season could provide other sources.

I know I'm shouting into the void, but I think WP:NFOOTY was a mistake from the start, as it gave impetus for users to create thousands of pages based on a binary of played in a professional league or not. This has now led to AfD contributors having to do shedloads of WP:BEFORE, as in this case the editor has not provided any text or sources at all for us to judge the notability of Felipinho as a person. Unknown Temptation (talk) 21:04, 11 March 2025 (UTC)

Hello, thanks for the reminder. I did my WP:BEFORE here and only found the news about his transfer to Macaé (his last club) [3], I didn't find anything about his time in Mato Grosso football or in the modest teams of Minas Gerais, not even during his time at Atlético Mineiro in 2017. It's a clear failure of WP:GNG, so feel free to nominate it in an AfD or even PROD. Svartner (talk) 22:02, 11 March 2025 (UTC)

Why? That article really got confusing. If you're interested in keeping the Uruguayan player article, the ideal would be to restart it as a draft, where you can gather the sources more calmly. Svartner (talk) 00:20, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
Listen, I'm not interested in keeping the Uruguayan player...
The only reason I want to turn him into a redirect is because it is the only way to preserve my 0% deletion ratio. I currently have 1,001 articles with ZERO deletions). But yeah... I suppose there is nothing I can do to save that streak now. Kind regards. Barr Theo (talk) 00:29, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
Now I understand better, I changed the vote to redirect. I thought you would like to work on the Uruguayan player's article, in case there is no one willing, maybe it won't cause confusion. Svartner (talk) 00:34, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
Great, I have just accidentally pulled off an WP:CANVASS... This Miguel Márquez situation is proving to be a great headache... Barr Theo (talk) 00:47, 22 April 2025 (UTC)

Wikipedia:The World Destubathon Invite!

Hi Svartner! Dr.Blofield is running the Wikipedia:The World Destubathon - I thought i'd invite you as your work on Wikipedia is fantastic! :)) RossEvans19 (talk) 00:37, 10 June 2025 (UTC)

Done, but I'm really just indicating articles that are very outdated in relation to the project, players who had no relevance whatsoever in their careers, that were created en masse when the guidelines were less demanding. Thank you for remind me btw. Svartner (talk) 00:48, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
I've been doing the same - it's still really helpful work though! And no worries :) RossEvans19 (talk) 00:50, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
Thank you Ross, and welcome aboard Svartner! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:38, 10 June 2025 (UTC)

AFD relisting

Hi there, when you close/relist AfDs, can you please use WP:XFDCLOSER? It's much more convenient, and it saves you from making mistakes that mean someone else has to go hunting through the logs to figure out what went wrong. Thanks! -- asilvering (talk) 04:08, 12 June 2025 (UTC)

Nathan Garrow

Do you reckon that Draft:Nathan Garrow meets SIGCOV? It's rather similar to Christian Gray (footballer), including their birthday. Kind regards. Luis7M (talk) 17:03, 27 June 2025 (UTC)

In my opinion, yes, he got as much attention as Gray. Looks ready. Svartner (talk) 17:47, 27 June 2025 (UTC)

Recent BLPPROD's

WP:BLPPROD is reserved for BLP's containing no sources of any kind. Articles containing external links, or citations to dead links archived on the wayback machine do not meet the requirements for BLPPROD. Consequently, your recent tagging of Jun Kokubo and Thiago Moyses is not inline with that policy. Please do not tag articles like that again. Sir Sputnik (talk) 15:57, 28 June 2025 (UTC)

Ok, thanks for the advice. Svartner (talk) 17:24, 28 June 2025 (UTC)

PRODs

Hello, Svartner,

Today I'm just working through a lot of articles that you PROD'd last week and I thought I'd drop you a comment. Since you PROD so many articles, you might find it much easier if you work with Twinkle to tag articles and files for all kinds of deletion, CSD, PROD and AFD/RFD/CFD/etc. Twinkle will remember all of the step and take care of everything from tagging the article to posting a descriptive edit summary to notifying the article creator. Just be sure to set your Twinkle Preferences to "Notify page creator" and then Twinkle will take care of that step as well. Of course, I have't found any issues with the way you are doing things now, you just might find Twinkle smoother and easier. Also, if you choose, Twinkle will also maintain a PROD log (and one for CSD and XFDs, too) so you can keep track of your deletion record. Some editors find this helpful. Thank you for all of your contributions to the project! Liz Read! Talk! 21:57, 1 July 2025 (UTC)

Hi Liz, I recently enabled Twinkle precisely to streamline the process and I agree and appreciate your tip. If you have any problems, just let me know, regards. Svartner (talk) 22:00, 1 July 2025 (UTC)
