Information icon Hello. Your recent edit to List of villages in Bangladesh appears to have added a non-notable entity to a list that normally includes only notable entries. In general, a person, organization or product added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Thank you. - Arjayay (talk) 09:14, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Kotwali Model Thana (Jashore) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Flawed station articles

[edit]

Can you give any policy-based reason why Mongla railway station should not be redirected immediately to Khulna–Mongla Port line (much as Kuakata railway station was recently redirected with unanimous consensus in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kuakata railway station)?

I know the station exists, but Wikipedia articles must be based on significant coverage in reliable sources, not on our personal experience. The Daily Star says the proposed line includes 8 stations, and Samakal says passenger service to Mongla started in June, from which one might surmise that there now must be a station there, but not a single one of the sources you cite directly mentions it. The sources don't support the statements in the article that "It was built to connect the Port of Mongla by railway" or "The station was jointly opened by Sheikh Hasina and Narendra Modi, prime ministers respectively of Bangladesh and India."

I realize that you've only recently created the stub, but in its current condition it doesn't belong in article space. You've also churned out Jamdia railway station, Kashiani Junction railway station, Mohammad Nagar railway station, and Singia Junction railway station. Can they withstand close inspection, or do they have the same problems as Mongla railway station? If you have a concrete plan to improve them, fine, but in future I strongly urge you to work in your user space or draft space until a potential article at least has sources that demonstrate that it is a notable topic, suitable for a stand alone encyclopedia article. --Worldbruce (talk) 18:11, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Non-attributed translations

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you translated text from bn:আফ্রা নদী to Afra River. While you are welcome to translate Wikipedia content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing requires that you provide attribution to the contributor(s) of the original article. When translating from a foreign-language Wikipedia article, this is supplied at a minimum in an edit summary on the page where you add translated content, identifying it as a translation and linking it to the source page. Sample wording for this is given here. If you forgot, or were not aware of this requirement, attribution must be given retroactively, for example:

NOTE: Content in the edit of 01:25, January 25, 2023 was translated from the existing French Wikipedia article at [[:fr:Exact name of French article]]; see its history for attribution.

Retroactive attribution may be added using a dummy edit; see Repairing insufficient attribution. It is good practice, especially if translation is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{translated page}} template on the talk page of the destination article. If you have added translated content previously which was not attributed at the time it was added, you must add attribution retrospectively, even if it was a long time ago. You can read more about author attribution and the reasons for it at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. C F A 22:09, 3 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

BLAR notice

[edit]

Hi there. While reviewing new pages, I noticed that a page you created, Panchagarh railway station, does not appear to meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines as a standalone article. (A fellow new page reviewer, North8000, agrees: [1].) As an alternative to deletion, I've redirected it to Parbatipur–Panchagarh line. If you disagree, feel free to revert my redirect and we can proceed to a deletion discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! Dclemens1971 (talk) 21:53, 6 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I am strongly disagree with your redirection. Because Panchagarh railway station is a terminus station in Panchagarh district. The article surely notability because the railway station serves Panchagarh as well as Panchagarh District, the whole population of that district are depends on this station to get railway service. So I think it surely meet with Wikipedia notability. Stud.asif (talk) 15:36, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Formatting Article Titles per WP:TITLEFORMAT

[edit]

Hi, Asif, I noticed that some of the pages you have created have titles in lowercase. As per WP:TITLEFORMAT, article titles should generally follow standard capitalization rules. This means using title case, where the first letter of each word is capitalized.

For example, instead of writing “Rajbari railway station,” it would be better to format it as “Rajbari Railway Station.”

Adhering to these guidelines helps maintain consistency across Wikipedia. If you’d like assistance renaming any articles, feel free to reach out or refer to the Help:Moving a page guide.

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username MPGuy2824, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Hajirhat Thana, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

I appreciate your patrolling about Wikipedia notability. Hajirhat Thana is a metropolitan Police station in Rangpur. And talking about notability, I don't think this article is not notability. Earlier I mentioned it as notability as a metropolitan Police station. People often mistakes to finding nearest police station and which police station administrate the area. This article is created so that people are do not confused about this matter and as a translator page of Bengali Wikipedia page হাজিরহাট থানা. Stud.asif (talk) 11:43, 21 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Stud.asif, On the English wikipedia the definition of notability is somewhat different than the one that is understood in normal usage. WP:GNG is the guideline for that. While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Meherullanagar railway station, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Meherullanagar railway station.

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Garsh2}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!
