Quotes

[edit]

Hello, regarding this edit https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Pantera&diff=1262001723&oldid=1260253979 Quotes should not be changed. You added a comma in the sentence Anselmo's rebuttal was that everybody's day is coming and that if his day should come before Vinnie's it would not change anything where there was none in the original. FMSky (talk) 14:57, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,
Apologies. I thought that, since the quote wasn't enclosed in quotation (") marks, it was not actually a quote and thus changed it by misjudgment. Thank you for bringing this to my attention, and I'll make sure not to do this in the future. Thanks.
Sparkle and Fade talkedits 23:14, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Actually you were right, I got it wrong, that part wasn't actually the quote. The part around it was. My bad --FMSky (talk) 23:22, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Word. Good album. I wondered if it was, but you are all over the place in your music editing so I wanted to make sure it wasn't borrowed from something else. I've seen you around a lot, and noticed you just recently joined but are very involved already. Anyway, I wanted to formally introduce myself, wish you a friendly hello, and a belated welcome. I'd be happy to call you a friend to work with. mftp dan oops 21:04, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I look forward to working with you. If you have any collaborations or projects in mind, please let me know; I'm always willing to collaborate with other editors, including you. Once again, thanks. —Sparkle and Fade (talkcontributions) 23:35, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Trendyol

[edit]

Hello! I was wondering if you might be interested in reviewing a couple COI edit requests I've submitted at Talk:Trendyol. I am asking here because you reviewed the History requested and expressed an interest in assessing other requests. Either way, thanks! Inkian Jason (talk) 18:26, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies, I forgot to review your requests despite promising to do so "in the next week", I've been busy with a few projects of my own and ended up not getting around to it. Either way, I'll be reviewing them this week, for real this time. Thanks! —Sparkle and Fade (talkcontributions) 23:33, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thank you! Inkian Jason (talk) 22:01, 25 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again! I was hoping you might be able to revisit this request at your convenience. I'm happy to address any concerns or questions. Thanks! Inkian Jason (talk) 14:49, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I've provided a response, where I've requested a second opinion from a more experienced editor. Apologies for the further delays, but I don't think I'm experienced enough to review such a major request. For some additional comments, I feel the sourcing may need improvement. I tried looking for high-quality sources myself, but I found nothing. Your patience is greatly appreciated. —Sparkle and Fade (talkcontributions) 04:32, 22 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Badly formatted doesn't = unsourced

[edit]

Just fyi, this edit was sourced. It was badly formatted, and put the references in prose rather than as a correctly formatted citation. But the source was provided. Just thought I'd mention because we don't want to discourage new editors.--3family6 (Talk to me|See what I have done) 15:30, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

My bad. —Sparkle and Fade (talkcontributions) 01:51, 22 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, just thought I'd give feedback there. I've been trying to help that contributor learn how Wikipedia works.--3family6 (Talk to me|See what I have done) 12:54, 24 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Father?

[edit]

I would tend to agree with you about "Aiden" due to the sequence of events; it doesn't feel right. But, we'll see if the user replies further. 331dot (talk) 12:19, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Acknowledged. – Sparkle and Fade (talkcontributions) 13:34, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
S&F, I also agree with you, FWIW. Fortuna, Imperatrix Mundi 13:55, 22 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Haven't gotten a response from Aiden or Jeremy, how long should I wait until opening a case at ANI? FYI The Bushranger told me this is ANI-worthy a day ago. – Sparkle and Fade (talkcontributions) 13:58, 22 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I've spent a bit of time trying to find the details of a regular who trolls/disrupts at the Teahouse. No luck so far, my memory is naff.
I'm fairly sure that it's someone who has been around the block. If the editor has 'died' and 'dad' is unable to come up with an obit then I guess they are done with and will disappear. Knitsey (talk) 14:13, 22 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Agree again. Re. the teahouse, I see it's currently protected, so could be connected to logged-out disruption, perhaps. Fortuna, Imperatrix Mundi 14:23, 22 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Someone with better knowledge about Teahouse disruption might have an idea. The LTA list isn't showing anything. I'm not going to spend much more time on this as hopefully the current disruption is done with. Knitsey (talk) 14:27, 22 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The Teahouse is a target of MidAtlanticBaby, banned by the WMF for making violent threats. They target the help pages to force us to protect them. 331dot (talk) 00:02, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks 331dot, definitely not this MO then. Fortuna, Imperatrix Mundi 11:56, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Seconding the authenticity concerns, unfortunately cancer is a long process and doesn't spontaneously put somebody in a coma (comas are a big part of cancer, but they don't come out of nowhere). Of course there are hundreds upon hundreds of different cancer types and some take hold incredibly quick, but given the past leverage using their situation to gain permissions, I really couldn't give a benefit-of-a-doubt here. Grammar on both user pages was the first thing that struck me, maybe bring SP concerns up at ANI? — EF5 15:15, 22 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm thinking of opening an ANI thread, but there's been no edits from either accounts for two days. It's possible they might have stopped, so I'm withholding from going to ANI for now. I doubt it's the Teahouse vandal as their vandalism is blatant, compared to this user who just seems to be a newbie wanting to become an admin. – Sparkle and Fade (talkcontributions) 22:54, 22 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Help-desk disruption

[edit]

Could you please explain why you removed one specific thread, and said you "archived" it but did not place it in the archive? DMacks (talk) 14:57, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@DMacks Sorry, I forgot to. I was in the middle of archiving it when I noticed a user with the {{Help me}} template, and I ended up getting caught up in it for a while (see the section above this). Again, sorry! – Sparkle and Fade (talkcontributions) 22:48, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. That user is indeed a problem, as you noticed. DMacks (talk) 23:01, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your signature

[edit]

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that the contributions link on your signature doesn't work properly - it leads to Special:Contributions/Sparkle & Fade, not Special:Contributions/Sparkle and Fade. Justjourney (talk | contribs) 18:38, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. Thank you for letting me know! – Sparkle and Fade (talkcontributions) 22:49, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your original account

[edit]

Hi Sparkle, could you please disclose your original account and why you are not editing from your original account? This is not for my benefit, since I already know the answer, but for yours and the community. You can either disclose it here or I will open an SPI. Your choice. Jickscundt (talk) 20:38, 26 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

A curious question, as it seems you created this account for the express purpose of making this post. 331dot (talk) 20:45, 26 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Wait, wait. I'm confused. This is my only account, and I've never opened another account (at least that I'm aware of). I've had two name changes though, if you're wondering. I promise you I am not sockpuppeting, and I only edit under this account as of now [21:44, 26 April 2025 (UTC)], though I'm considering creating a secondary account for editing in public netwworks. It's possible another family member may have made an account, but I'm not aware of this. Also, could you please point me to the account you suspect I've edited under? It would be highly appreciated. Thanks! – Sparkle and Fade (talkcontributions) 21:44, 26 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Jickscundt Why are trying to open a WP:SPI investigation? This user doesn't seem suspicious to me. Justjourney (talk | contribs) 22:42, 26 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I've decided to block Jick as a sock puppet. 331dot (talk) 00:26, 27 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Acknowledged. – Sparkle and Fade (talkcontributions) 00:27, 27 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Sparkle and Fade, we spoke at the Teahouse a while back. Did you get a chance to look at the article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Sanjib_Bhattacharjee yet? If not, no worries. Thanks! Flyhigh223! (talk) 21:23, 13 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies for not looking at it. I'll look at it now and I'll get back to you when I can. Thank you for letting me know! —Sparkle and Fade (talkcontributions) 23:00, 13 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much 😊 @Sparkle and Fade Flyhigh223! (talk) 15:08, 15 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You are invited to participate in The World Destubathon. It's currently planned for June 16-July 13, partly due to me having hayfever during that period and not wanting to run it throughout July or August in the hotter summer and will be run then unless multiple editors object. There is currently $3338 going into it, with $500 the top prize. As 250 countries and entities is too much to patrol, entries will be by user, but there is $500 going into prizes for editors covering the most countries. Sign up if interested! ♦ Dr. Blofeld

Destubathon runs until the 16th of July

[edit]

Hi, just a courtesy message to notify you in case you haven't seen the Wikipedia:The World Destubathon contest update in the last few days that we've decided to run the full month until the 16th of July. For those who have been too busy to contribute, we would love some help in reaching 4000 articles by Wednesday night! At present we're about 480 articles short!♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:38, 13 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
