Wikipedia and copyright
[edit] Hello Shah Jafer! Your additions to Lashari have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright and plagiarism issues. Here are the key points:
- Limited quotation: You may only copy or translate a small portion of a source. Any direct quotations must be enclosed in double quotation marks (") and properly cited using an inline citation. More information is available on the non-free content page. To learn how to cite a source, see Help:Referencing for beginners.
- Paraphrasing: Beyond limited quotations, you are required to put all information in your own words. Following the source's wording too closely can lead to copyright issues and is not permitted; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when paraphrasing, you must still cite your sources as appropriate.
- Image use guidelines: In most scenarios, only freely licensed or public domain images may be used and these should be uploaded to our sister project, Wikimedia Commons. In some scenarios, non-freely copyrighted content can be used if they meet all ten of our non-free content criteria; Wikipedia:Plain and simple non-free content guide may help with determining a file's eligibility.
- Copyrighted material donation: If you hold the copyright to the content you want to copy, or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license the text for publication here. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Copying and translation within Wikipedia: Wikipedia articles can be copied or translated, however they must have proper attribution in accordance with Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. For translation, see Help:Translation § License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Persistent failure to comply may result in being blocked from editing. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Thank you for your recent contributions, such as Mir Bahram Khan Talpur. Getting started creating new articles on Wikipedia can be tricky, and you might like to try creating a draft of your article in draftspace or in your userspace first, which you can then ask for feedback on if necessary, with less risk of deletion. Do make sure you also read help available to you, including Your First Article and the Tutorial. You might also like to try the Article Wizard, which has an option to create a draft version. Thank you. Wikibear47 (talk) 17:18, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Mir Bahram Khan Talpur, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Wikibear47 (talk) 17:20, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
Mir Sohrab Khan Talpur moved to draftspace
[edit]Thanks for your contributions to Mir Sohrab Khan Talpur. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability, it has too many problems of language or grammar and it is promotional and reads like an advertisement. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit for review" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Wikibear47 (talk) 17:23, 29 November 2024 (UTC)

Managing a conflict of interest
[edit] Hello, Shah Jafer. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template), including links or details of reliable sources that support your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. You keep creating biased/promotional articles relating to Talpurs, and have not disclosed that you are half Talpur (as one of your edit summary) states. You should disclose it on your userpage. DoctorWhoFan91 (talk) 14:52, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
- I have recieved your message and i would like to say that
- 1, I haven't created a wiki article on my family, company etc. Mir Bijar & Mir Abdullah Talpur were both Vizier(Prime Minister) of Sindh, so me creating a wiki article on them is to contribute on Sindh History and Kalhoro era History
- 2, I have stated sources yet the checkers havent really felt like checking it thus please, think about your decision and do justice on the article Shah Jafer (talk) 19:24, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
- this summary says you are half talpur, so you are creating an article on your ancestors, and a promotional one at that.
- You are copying and pasting from the source, which violates copyright. DoctorWhoFan91 (talk) 19:40, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
- Yes,
- I am half talpur but they aren't my ancestors, plus they were Viziers of Sindh, and they are apart of history books aswell. Please do justice on this article, many people ill-informed about Sindh's chief Ministers and they're role in Sindh. Please do justice, and no im not copying and pasting from the source, I researched and i stumbled upon a book in a website which is basically an archive for books and i take source from that, im not copying and pasting. please do your own research. My goal in wiki is to educate fellow sindhis on Sindh, and its heritage, please dont be an obstacle in this, if you have questions please let me know Shah Jafer (talk) 19:57, 3 January 2025 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Mir Abdullah Khan Talpur
[edit]Hello, Shah Jafer
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Mir Abdullah Khan Talpur for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons. For more details please see the notice on the article.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Speedy deletion nomination of Mir Bijar Khan Talpur
[edit]Hello Shah Jafer,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Mir Bijar Khan Talpur for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source, probably infringing copyright.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Speedy deletion nomination of Mir Bahram Khan Talpur
[edit]
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Mir Bahram Khan Talpur requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://encyclopediasindhiana.org/article.php?Dflt=%D9%85%D9%8A%D8%B1%20%D8%A8%D9%87%D8%B1%D8%A7%D9%85%20%D8%AE%D8%A7%D9%86%20%D9%BD%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%BE%D8%B1. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Request reason:
Hello,
I understand that my account was blocked for violating Wikipedia's copyright policy. I sincerely apologize for my mistake. At the time, I did not fully understand that copying content from other websites, even with a citation, is not allowed. I now realize that all contributions must be written in my own words, and I will strictly follow that rule going forward.
I have reviewed Wikipedia’s policies on copyright violations (WP:COPYVIO), paraphrasing, and reliable sourcing. I am committed to editing responsibly and contributing original, properly attributed content from now on.
If unblocked, I will: - Avoid any form of copying or close paraphrasing - Use reliable, verifiable sources - Ensure all text is written in my own words - Cite every source clearly and correctly
Thank you for considering my request. Shah Jafer (talk) 09:00, 20 May 2025 (UTC)

Hello, sorry for writing it in AI, i apologize for that because i didnt wanted to mess this up because i love wikipedia and i love collecting esteemed personalities history and uploading it in Wikipedia, firstly i apologize for copyright violation, i was unaware of the rules, but after studying it i will assure the admins that i will abide by the rules. I ask for second chance and i will not break any rule in the future, please accept my apology and let me do what i love. I will be waiting for a response, thanks! Do not use AI and do not copy and paste when responding to the following. In order to lift the block, we need to be certain that you understand how copyright works on Wikipedia. To allow the reviewing administrator to assess your understanding, please respond to the following questions in your next unblock appeal, explaining in your own words:
- What is copyright?
- How is Wikipedia licenced?
- Why is copyrighted content not allowed on Wikipedia?
- Under what circumstances can we use copyrighted content?
- How do you intend to avoid violating the copyright policy in the future?
Your answers will enable us to establish whether or not you should be unblocked. Yamla (talk) 14:49, 20 May 2025 (UTC)

[edit]{{unblock|reason= okay so im going to answer these question one by one, copyright is basically a legal term used to describe the rights creators have over their work, like both literary and artistic for example pictures, art etc. Wikipedia is licenced under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) and the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL), So in my understanding Wikipedia is an open content website, and therefore everything that appears on it has to be reusable by anybody for free, including commercially. Adding copyrighted work without consent is illegal and violates the licensing policy of Wikipedia. That would render the other users unable to freely reuse the content, which contradicts the entire spirit of the site. It would also pose legal threats to Wikipedia. Copyrighted content can be used by asking permission or fair use. I will avoid violating the rule by adding sources that dont have copyright and i will write everything in my own words aswell and i will not use AI or anything from now on. I just ask for a second chance and i understand the rules and will not break the rules next time. You say, "Copyrighted content can be used by asking permission or fair use". It's unclear if you understand this area. Please answer these followup questions. Please be careful, these are tricky but are not meant to be trick questions:
- I have an image of a celebrity. It is (obviously) copyrighted. You ask if you can use the image on Wikipedia. I say yes. Would that be acceptable? Why or why not?
- You can't find a freely-licensed image of a celebrity in this year's summer blockbuster movie. You find one with a license that permits reuse but not commercial reuse. Can you use this image under fair-use?
- An actor is playing a character in a movie. The movie studio releases promotional, but copyrighted and non-freely-licensed images showing that and other characters in the movie. Can you use that image in an article specifically about that character? Why or why not?
- You find an image of a celebrity on a website. There's no indication of copyright. Does that mean the image is copyrighted or does that mean the image is public domain/freely available?
- You find an image of a celebrity on a website. The website indicates the image is public domain and you have good reason to believe they themselves took this photograph. Can you use that image on Wikipedia?
Feel free to review WP:COPYRIGHT and WP:FAIRUSE when thinking about your answers. Thanks for your time. --Yamla (talk) 18:33, 20 May 2025 (UTC)

Request reason:
It would not be acceptable because i am violating wikipedia copyright policy, i could use it if i was the copyright holder but in this case im not so hence its not acceptable. Yes you can use the image but in articles and insert that image where it is relevent in, but u cannot upload or use it in wikimedia commons but u cannot use the image commericially u can use it in articles under wikipedia fair use.yes you can use the image under fair use in an article but only if it fits and follows wikipedia fair use criteria. In my knowledge, every picture by default is copyrighted by default so u still have to assume it copyrighted. Yes you can use that image. Shah Jafer (talk) 22:52, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
Decline reason:
I'm afraid this demonstrates you lack a clear understanding of WP:COPYRIGHT and WP:FAIRUSE. Your answers show significant misunderstandings. Copyright and fair use is admittedly tricky, but given your rampant violations, we need you to have a clear understanding before you are unblocked. At this point, I see no path forward for you here unless and until you edit another wikimedia project for at least six months, making at least 500 edits, and showing zero problems (including, specifically, zero copyright and zero fair-use problems). Decline reason:
Procedural decline only. Although severe WP:CIR issues are now evident, user has agreed to edit other wikimedia projects instead of en.wikipedia.org for at least six months, making at least 500 problem-free edits, and will not make another unblock request until they've done so. So, to be clear, you claim your earlier incorrect answers were correct. Additionally, you are unwilling to edit another wikimedia project to demonstrate you can edit without further violations of copyright and fair use. Are those statements accurate? --Yamla (talk) 11:33, 21 May 2025 (UTC)

Dear admins, unfortunately after thinking about this, 500 is too much and i write hardly 2 articles per 3 months, so 500 is alot. Yamla's unblock offer seems fair to me. I recommend Simple English Wikipedia, which is the Wikimedia project that is most similar to English Wikipedia. Alternatively, you can try any other Wikimedia project in any language you are proficient in. You can take longer than 6 months to complete the 500 edits if you are not a frequent editor; 6 months is only the minimum period before another unblock request here will be considered. — Newslinger talk 13:28, 26 May 2025 (UTC)

- You don't understand WP:COPYRIGHT and WP:FAIRUSE. You've demonstrated you don't understand it. You could ask me questions like you did before or change the request that you gave me. Labelling me that i dont understand the wikipedia policy is very unjustful because your comparing me to what i was yesterday.
