Deadline 6 (Week 10) -CHEN SIWEN
[edit]The draft user page on Prisoners of War in World War I offers a relatively comprehensive translation and presentation of the issue of POWs during the First World War. It covers topics such as the number of prisoners, their treatment, the legal background of wartime regulations, and postwar impacts. The structure is clear and well-organized, roughly preserving the logic and informational density of the original English article, and demonstrates a solid foundation. Terminology is translated with reasonable accuracy, and historical data and facts are retained, reflecting a certain level of historical rigor.
However, in terms of language expression, the overall style leans towards literal translation from English. Some sentence structures do not align with Chinese syntax and idiomatic expression, which affects the readability of the article. Transitions between paragraphs are also somewhat abrupt and lack natural flow. In addition, the references have not yet adopted the citation template format recommended by Chinese Wikipedia, resulting in issues of standardization.
To further enhance the quality of the article, it is recommended to polish the language sentence by sentence to improve fluency, unify the citation templates in accordance with editing norms, and, where appropriate, supplement content related to the Chinese context (e.g., POWs among the Chinese Labour Corps) to enhance local relevance and completeness of information.
The draft user page on Ethnic Minorities in South Korea is rich in content and clearly structured, covering aspects such as foreign residents, mixed families, and their influence in entertainment and culture, making it a valuable reference. The article cites several official statistics, showing trends in the foreign population within South Korea and their participation in society. In particular, the description of the role of foreign entertainers in South Korea’s entertainment industry is detailed and highlights the diverse roles of ethnic minorities in Korean society.
However, the article still shows traces of literal translation, and some sentences do not fully align with natural Chinese expression. Further polishing is recommended to improve readability. The citation format should also be standardized using the recommended templates of Chinese Wikipedia to ensure conformity. Additionally, it would be beneficial to supplement information on other groups such as South Asians and Africans. When describing mixed families and foreign public figures, careful attention should be paid to maintaining a neutral tone to enhance the article's comprehensiveness and objectivity.
Overall, the draft has strong potential and, with proper refinement, could become a high-quality entry on Chinese Wikipedia. Chensiwen (talk) 08:50, 14 May 2025 (UTC)
Deadline 6 (Week 10) - Kim jong min(hanyang)
[edit]Overall, I found the document to be well organized and easy to read about prisoners of war in World War I. I found the section comparing the prisoner situation in different countries to be particularly interesting. However, I would have liked to see more specific sources for statistics and facts. I think it would be more vivid if there was a bit more about the daily life and psychological experiences of POWs, and visuals such as tables and pictures would make it easier to understand at a glance. I would also like to see some specific examples of famous prisoner exchanges or escape stories. The wording is a little stiff in some places and could be improved by making it more natural. Overall, it was an informative article, and with a few improvements, I think it could be even better!
